Autumn Days | Mixed Media Layout with Simple Stories Cozy Days

 Hello everyone!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and, while I know that things have been a bit different lately, there's always something to be thankful for.

Today's layout is mostly focused on making one's own background and piling on the embellishments. If you'd like to see how it's made, click here.

I began with a cream cardstock as my base and began spraying my base with Bamboo Leaf, Moody Mauve, Glorious Day, Cotton Candy and Hot Fudge. I didn't add any gesso this time around because I didn't want my colors to blend too much. After spraying the colors, I added a couple of splatters of Hot Fudge.

I fussy-cut some tags and icon squares from the collection (Simple Stories Cozy Days) to add to the embellishment clusters that would hang tight around each of the pictures.

My embellishment clusters contain a mix of stickers, ephemera, foam stickers, and chipboard stickers to really play with the dimension on the layout. Each picture is popped up on some craft foam, and each has a tag as a layering piece beneath them. Once I was done with everything, I splashed a bit of Moody Mauve and Glorious Day around my layout to add some more Shimmerz goodness!

That's it! It was a super simple and quick layout to make, and I hope I've inspired you to get your stories documented while playing around with your Shimmerz Paints. Remember, you can always receive a freebie in your next Shimmerz order if you type LORIMAR in the comments section when placing it.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Stay safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Boys Rule | Boy Themed Layout using Mists from November Color Kits

Hello friends!

Lorimar here sharing a new boy-themed layout! I just loved the rich, deep color mists found in both November Color kits; and loved them even more when I saw how well they paired up with Chance of Rain (Vibez). Rather than document a Christmas picture, I went with more of a colorful, boy-themed, winter-feel layout.

Here's how I made it: Using a 12x12 white cardstock, I added clear gesso using a palette knife to the whole sheet; set it aside to dry. In the meantime, I started pulling out boy-themed embellishments from my stash. Once the base was dry, I began adding color by spraying it on one side (enough to form a puddle) and then lifting and turning the base just so to form the drips. I did this twice with all four colors just to get a bolder look; I alternated the placement of the puddles and drips. They were: Rolling In The Hay, Rose Gold Red, Hot Fudge, and Chance of Rain. Finally finished the base by adding splatters.

Once my base was dry, I trimmed an inch off of each side to get a 10x10 inch square of cardstock; ruffled up the edge with a distressing tool and glued it in the center of my patterned paper. For my pictures, I matted them with from red cardstock and black and white gingham patterned paper. Added some craft foam behind them and tied some red and white twine along the bottom portion of the picture.

For finalizing my layout, I used a variety of boy themed stickers, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, sequins, ephemera and wood veneers. Wrote my journaling in black ink in the left hand corner of the layout and splashed some Rain of Chance all around the finished layout to tie everything together.

So that's it! Pretty simple, and yet so stunning! Hope you're inspired to create something like and get your stories documented. Thanks for stopping by! Remember to type my name in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order to receive some free paint!

Mixed Media masculine layout with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, scrappy friends!

Sandi  here with you today sharing my first Shimmerz Paint project for 2019!
Here's hoping for a creative year for all of you!!!

My first step after selecting my papers was to coat them with clear gesso and then added Paste-Eez Salt of the Earth texture paste pushed through a stencil.

After that dried, I added my distressed photo layers along with the photo of my grandson. Before moving on, I did some random stamping.

After choosing some chipboard embellishments from Creative Embellishments, I prepared them in a couple of different ways.

This Twig frame with fall leaves was sprayed with my Shimmerz Coloringz Chocolate Brownie.

After that dried, I sprayed the frame and leaves with my Shimmerz Vibez Hot Fudge which gave them a warm glow!

Before adding my florals and other embellishments, I enhanced my focal area by painting on Coloringz Well Blue Me Down with a small brush.

As I worked, I keep some water nearby so that I could dilute and let the color run as desired.

The chipboard title piece is from Creative Embellishments Adventure Word Set.

I decided to alter it a bit differently and chose my Inklingz Penny 4 Your Thoughts which turned out great! It gave it a nice, copper-y look.

In the background, you can see the Paste-Eez Salt of the Earth which was pushed through a stencil.

Here I tried to capture a better view of those copper tones of the Inklingz Penny 4 Your Thoughts.

The leaves were treated with a smattering of Blingz Gold Glimmer along the vein lines.

Finally, I added my florals and bling. Then splattered with gesso as well as Coloringz Night Moves which is black and the primary project color Coloringz Well Blue Me Down.

Thanks so much for coming by today!
Be sure to mention my name if you do a little retail shopping at Shimmerz for a little free paint.

Autumn Shaker card with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, Shimmerz fans!

Sandi here with you today sharing a card I made for my sister-in-law.
I always try to make something special for her because not only do I love her but she also is the person who introduced me to scrapbooking.

So, here is the completed card using 6 Shimmerz colors as well as some of the sequins that Stacey is now carrying in the store. And of course, lots of Creative Embellishments chipboard.

This is actually a shaker card, so I had to think a bit as I created, lol!

Here was one of the first pieces of CE chipboard that I altered by spraying it with Vibez Hot Fudge which gave it a nice sheen!

Next I prepared the CE Viney Frame by first giving it a coat of black gesso. I had been wanting to experiment with using the Shimmerz on a black base and was pleasantly surprised.

Originally, I was just going to use only 2 colors: Inklingz Miner Miner 49er and Spritz Granny Gray .... but later decided to throw in some of the yummy Vibez Quit Yer Wine-n. It is so gorgeous!

My little CE "Happy" chipboard title piece was colorized with black gesso and then Shimmerz So Sappy which gave it a beautiful copper-y glow. At the very end everything was dabbed with white gesso.

Here is another view of the Viney frame as well as more of the lace border where you can really see the shimmer!

Because this is a Shaker card, I used another frame that you can't see (by design) but it was coated with Vibez Grey Flannel to make it blend with the background photo better. Here you can also see the sequins I put inside the shaker which are Spigelmom Scraps Sequins Rustic Retreat. Perfect for my color scheme!

And one last shot of the frame where you can see how the 3 colors look on the black gesso.
Also, towards the end, I splattered drops of the Vibez Quit Yer Wine-n all around my focal point.

Here are the Shimmerz products that I've used.

Fall Tags with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, Shimmerz Paints fans!

Sandi here with you today sharing a couple of Fall tags that I created one rainy morning here in Texas.

These were my finished tags which started out as regular old office supply tags.
I primed them with white gesso and after allowing that to dry, I added some texture with super heavy gesso and a stencil.
Then I applied water and misted them with  Glorious Day Vibez,  Palm Reader Vibez and then added the new So Sappy Shimmerz with a paint brush allowing the colors to run in a downward pattern. I reversed the order on the second tag, so they are mirror images. To add more depth, I splattered some Hot Fudge Vibez.

Here they are before the embellishments were added. Look at that Shimmer!

After the color was dry,  I added some punchinello ribbon beneath the florals, a couple of wee buttons and then a couple of chipboard Autumn Set title pieces from Creative Embellishments which were darkened with Chocolate Brownie Coloringz

Some various ribbon at the top completed them. I'm so happy how they turned out.

This photo shows the top portion of the card a bit better.

Just another shot at all that Fall color.
These were so, so fun to do! I hope you'll give it a try.

Don't forget to include my name "Sandi" on your retail order. Stacey will send you a free little goodie! How fun!

Thanks for coming by.
See you next time!

Boys will be Boys ~ Altered Canvas with Sandi Clarkson

Hello, fellow scrappers!
Sandi here with you today sharing my favorite project of the year so far ... and a joint Design Team project for  Shimmerz Paints and Creative Embellishments.

I've had this heart-shaped watercolor canvas by Crate Paper for over a year and had not found quite the right use for it .. until the other day.  This cute photo of the grand boys screamed for something unique.

The first step was applying the color to the background which I did with a limited rainbow design. I started on the right with Glorious Day Vibez, then added in Palm Reader Vibez and lastly Well Blue Me Down Coloringz.  After that, I added texture using the Creative Embellishments Circle Bokeh Stencil and super heavy gesso. When that was dry, I re-applied the paints as needed as well as splattered droplets creating interest. For depth I used the CE Distressed Crackle Stamp around the edges of the heart.

Next I began altering my chipboard pieces. The Boys will be boys was first stained with Hot Fudge Vibez and then hit with Rolling in the Hay Vibez . I seriously love how it turned out!

The Cattails were so fun to alter. You will need 2 of them. First the stems were painted with Green Olive, then blasted with the Rolling in the Hay Vibez and some of the Glorious Day Vibez for a hint of yellow.
I took a cue from fellow CE team member Jen Snyder and pulled out the Stickles for the heads of the cattails which gave them great texture. They were sprayed with Rolling in the Hay Vibez to reduce the shine.

Here they are all done up! Aren't they perfect? The use of multiple colors makes them look more real, I think.

The sweet photo was framed with the "family frame" from the Together Frame Set. This frame was treated the same as the Boys will be boys title piece but turned out a little lighter, probably due to less stain. I also tied a little jute bow to the side of it.

Behind the photo, I placed a bit of actual chicken wire, then aded my flowers and art stones. Lastly, I used my finger to trace some of the Hot Fudge Vibez around the edge of the heart for dimension.

This was a super fun project to create. Don't be afraid to use those odd canvases to showcase a treasured photo!

Thanks for coming by today!

I am grateful

Hello.
It’s Naomi and here is the LO I’d like to share today with you.
It’s a very simple one but I love how shimmerz have done to it.

Products used:

Coloringz Tropical Tanline
Vibez Hot Fudge
Vibez Rolling in the hay

As you might’ve noticed, I am usually a very messy “all over the place” type of person when it comes to creating (and my room. shhhhh..) but I also love simple layouts.
Shimmerz are so versatile and I can use them in any way I feel like and that’s why I love the products.

Thank you for popping by and I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Sharing an LO...

Hello. It’s Naomi and I am here to share an LO today.
Last time I posted a very purple crazy LO with lots of misting so I thought I would do something a little different, simpler and less misting.

Here are the Shimmerz products I used

VIBEZ Hot Fudge
COLORINGZ Tropical Tanline
VIBEZ Hermit the Frog
COLORINGZ Mandarin Mai Tai
SHIMMERZ Jilted Jade
SHIMMERS Celery

And this is what I made.

There isn’t an awful lot misting on this LO but I love how a little bit of paint splatters and masking can give it such nice look. And I like how they are so versatile.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you have had a lovely weekend!

Some Shimmerz Artsy play

I have a page I did today to share with you!  A bit of Artsy fun was had!!!!
I had a good time anyway working with some cool Papers and LOTS of Shimmerz.... some punches and some tapes and you have all the ingredients you need!!!!
I played with Under the sea Blingz, Hot Fudge Vibez and Licorice Spritz.  I paired that with a little texture paste and some gesso for some texture.....

First I stuck every thing down, then I did some shimmering.  I didn't want to confine the paint to the background this time, so I just sprayed and dripped around my photo, (not being too careful.)
I painted some of the elements with the Under the sea Blingz to help them co-ordinate better, and of course to add some Shimmer!!!!

I enjoyed doing this page to share today!
Why not get out your Shimmerz and have an artsy play on your next page!

Thanks for stopping in today.
