Jolly Good Cheer | Christmas Layout with process video

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for joining me today for another colorful, Christmassy layout. From start to finish, this layout took me about 3 hours to complete, but most of it was spent backing the cutfile and waiting for the base to dry. In terms of patterned paper and embellishments, I paired Simple Stories Holly Jolly and Say Cheese Christmas collections; and the cutfile is called Santa Hats background by Virginia Walker (I'll leave the links to her shop and cutfile at the end of this post). You'll find the link to the process video there as well.

I first began my layout by backing the cutfile. I cut it out on white cardstock, and used the text paper from Say Cheese Christmas collection to place a Christmas-themed word on the border of the Santa hats. Various papers were used to back the actual hats. For some texture, I used Dazzlerz Puttin' On The Glitz and Paige Evan's star stencil on some light blue cardstock; this was used to back the little balls at the end of the Santa Hats.

For my base, I used a Vicki Boutin Foundations papers, Shimmerz Mists and white acrylic paint. Sprayed some water onto the paper to give the mists some extra wiggle and blending space, and sprayed Cotton Candy, Jeni B Blue, and Hermit the Frog. I realized that the colors were a bit too bright when compared to the patterned paper that I had used so I sprayed some Chance of Rain and Razzle Dazzle Berry also and let them blend together. Without waiting for the mists to dry, I watered down some white acrylic paint and splattered it onto the base. This techniques creates a marbled look, almost looking like a galaxy! Before setting the base aside to dry, I watered down some Dazzlerz Puttin' on the Glitz and splattered it unto the background just to add a bit of glitter to it.

While my base was drying, I matted my pictures using the same light blue cardstock and added some craft foam behind them for some dimension. I then began to pull embellishments out from the Simple Stories Holly Jolly Collection and divide them among the pictures. Once my base was completely dry, I added in the cutfile (also on craft foam) and then placed my pictures. Glued down my embellishments and finished off the layout by adding the title to the upper left hand corner using foam thickers by Pink Paislee and a die cut from Simple Stories. And that's it! Here are a few more close-ups.

I love this layout; so much so that I've placed it in a 12x12 shadow box and it's part of the Christmas decor in my living room!

Mermaid Shimmerz | Ericka Strange

Hello Shimmerz Fanz! I hope your week is going well. Ericka here with a mermaid card I made using a variety of Shimmerz products. I love how easy it is to mix and match these products to create beautiful shine and colors in any project.

I started by creating the background for the mermaid. I wanted to see if I could get watery look with my Vibez and Shimmerz. I took Bristol Smooth paper and lightly sprayed water on one side and then using the end of the spray, took the Jeni B Bleu and Hermit the Frog and added color so that it would drip down the page. Once that layer dried, I used Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise and Evergreen and added some more water and color to my brush to layer the shimmery color. While my background was drying, I stamped the mermaid and her little friends and heat embossed them with WOW Aventurine powder. This powder is a beautiful turquoise color with gold glitter which complements the Shimmerz perfectly.

I used the same Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise and Evergreen and also added Bumbly Bee and 1 Hot Mama Creameez. I love how the Creameez blended with the Turquoise to give her purple highlights. Once everything was dry, I cut out my images and added them to my shimmery background.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to check out my blog for more information on how I made my card. Don't forget to check out the new and beautiful August Kitz!

Cute Kid and Photo Op - Two layouts with Karine

Hi Shimmerz fan,

It's my first post as a DT member and I'm so excited to join all the talented ladies here! I'm also very pleased to create with such yummy paints and products.

Today, I want to share with you two layouts I made using exactly the same Shimmerz products. The first one features my son and his grumpy look... I was inspired by the color of his shirt.

First, I used two Vibez colors to create the background with a stencil: Jeni B Bleu and Hermit the Frog.

To add more texture to that background, I then added TextureZ in Tidy Widy through the same stencil. After that, I did some stamping.

I used two chipboards on which applied DazzelerZ in Gummy Berry Blue and Jelly Bean Green with my fingers.

I mated my photo with papers, resist canvas and a tag, both of which I coloured with Vibez Jeni B Bleu, Vibez Hermit the Frog and Spritz Tuscan Sun (my all time favorite color of mist!!).

I then went all around my papers and over my wood veneer title with Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise, Jilted Jade and Sunflower.

As I was cleaning my work surface, I came across this picture of my son and I thought it would have been nice with the colors I just used, so I decided to make another layout. Here it is.

I used the mists (Vibez in Jeni B Bleu and Hermit the Frog and Spritz in Tuscan Sun) ans TextureZ (Tidy Widy) for the background.

Again, I used DazzelerZ (Gummy Berry Blue and Jelly Bean Green) to color my chipboards and my title.

Some random stamping in the background, and a shimmery finishing touch with Shimmerz around all my elements (Tickle Me Turquoise, Jilted Jade and Sunflower).

I really hope that this will inspire you. Have a nice shimmery day!

P.S. Don't forget to mention my name when ordering Shimmerz, Stacey will include something free just for you! :)

I am the luckiest MAMA in the world.

Hello hello.
It's Naomi here and today I'd like to share an LO with a picture which I took on Mother's day last month.
As most of us (mothers) are the photographers (and the chefs and the cleaners, ect..) in everyday life, we don't get to be in pictures as often as we SHOULD.
I am glad I made an effort to take some shots of the children and myself on Mother's day with a self timer. (how clever are you, Self timer!!)
It's not a perfect one but "I"am in it with the kids and that's what counts, right?

Here is the LO.

For the background, I firstly applied gesso all over the patterned paper very lightly so that the pattern is still visible not completely hidden.
For the texture, I glued some strips of old dressmaking paper
Then I applied the products below to create interesting new pattern along with the original pattern underneath.
  • VIBEZ Fiery Fiesta
  • VIBEZ Rusty Bottom
  • COLORINGZ No Yoking
  •  VIBEZ Sea Monkey
  • SHIMMERZ Coffee
For the canvas butterfly, I painted it with
  • SPRITZ Sea Form
  • SHIMMERZ Coffee
  • VIBEZ Hermit the Frog
  • COLORINGZ Heidi-Ho-Blue
  • VIBEZ Sea Monkey
  • COLORINGZ Mama sings the Blue
and for the finishing shinny touch, I applied
  • ENAMELZ Sparklicious

I have to say I LOVE how the butterfly turned out using shimmerz.

Thank you for stopping by.
I hope you are all having a lovely weekend!

Sharing an LO...

Hello. It’s Naomi and I am here to share an LO today.
Last time I posted a very purple crazy LO with lots of misting so I thought I would do something a little different, simpler and less misting.

Here are the Shimmerz products I used

VIBEZ Hot Fudge
COLORINGZ Tropical Tanline
VIBEZ Hermit the Frog
COLORINGZ Mandarin Mai Tai
SHIMMERZ Jilted Jade
SHIMMERS Celery

And this is what I made.

There isn’t an awful lot misting on this LO but I love how a little bit of paint splatters and masking can give it such nice look. And I like how they are so versatile.

Thank you for stopping by and hope you have had a lovely weekend!

Vibez Doily Masking

Hi, Shimmerz fans....Lucy here with a layout that makes me smile....most kids get sick of the camera at times and my daughter is no exception. ;)

I used some Shimmerz Vibez here over a paper doily...Hermit the Frog. Isn't that a fun name? And some Breaking Dawn splatter. Loving the Teresa Collins home line here....it made the perfect accent.

Have a Shimmery Day!

Shimmerz me everything!!!

I have to make an effort NOT to put Shimmerz on everything. It doesn't matter if it's Vibez, Pearlz, Shimmerz, or my personal fav's Blingz. I just want to Shimmerize EVERYTHING,lol!!!

The small chipboard heart was colored with an American Crafts metallic silver marker. Then painted with Hottie Pink Blingz. Once dried, I painted over that with Hi Ho Silver Blingz. I love the results, the colors blend together so beautifully.
The beautiful paper rose was sprayed with my favorite Spritz Licorice, then a little Hi Ho Silver was brushed on top.

On this layout there is Hi Ho Silver Blingz is everywhere. On the chipboard heart, the purple heart, the chipboard flourish, and the Kraft envelope. Can you tell Hi Ho Silver is a fav or what? LOL.

On this layout I went with an all time favorite technique. This large scallop chipboard heart was sprayed with Licorice Spritz, painted with Scattered Straw crackle paint, clear rock candy crackle paint, then to add the finishing Shimmer to it Pixie Dust Blingz was painted on top. The effects are soo cool

And last but far from least. I am in total love with vibez. Here I created a stripped background using Grape Escape, and distressed the edges with Hermit the Frog.

Happy Scrapping ladies!!!

The Gift of Vibez

I hope you have been enjoying all of the beautiful creations by the Shimmerz design team using the wonderful Vibez product! I have to confess that I feel so wonderfully blessed to be able to work with the new Vibez colors, and today I'll be sharing a project that I created which will allow me to share the amazing gift of vibrant shimmer with someone else (and hopefully make their day a little bit brighter as well! ;-D ).

For this gift set, I used Razzle Dazzle Berry, Sunset Strip, and Hermit the Frog Vibez as well as some Gold Glimmer Blingz.

A couple of white, swirl-printed Prima flowers were spritzed with Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez which resulted in a great coordinating color for my card and purse. Two smaller pink Prima flowers were also spritzed with Razzle Dazzle Berry. I also dipped the tips of the larger flowers into a puddle of Razzle Dazzle Berry on my non-stick mat, and dried them with my heat gun (I confess I'm impatient when it comes to drying times! :-D ). That added extra shimmer to the tips of the flowers as you'll see in the close-up photos below.

The pink stripes on the border strip were also painted with Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez. In addition to a spritz of Sunset Strip on the yellow flowers, I added some Gold Glimmer Blingz for extra textured and shimmer. The circles on the card's patterned paper from K & Company were embellished with some Gold Glimmer Blingz as well.

The mini purse was cut from white cardstock using the new Forever You Cricut cartridge set on "fit to page" so that I could get the largest purse from my 12"x12" piece of cardstock. I then spritzed it with Sunset Strip and spread it all over the cardstock using a foam brush. The result is a shimmery sunshine-toned purse! The great thing about Vibez is that the color intensifies with each additional layer of spritzing or painting, and you'll be able to see some variations in color on the purse in the photo that follows.

I cut the decorative border on the purse with my Cricut using a design I created in Sure Cuts A Lot (a software product that allows users to cut true type fonts and images using the Cricut). Next, I sprayed it once with Hermit the Frog Vibez for a more subtle shade. Once it dried, I adhered it to the purse front, zig zag stitched along the bottom border and embellished it with pearls. The purse has a small flap on which I attached the flowers using a Making Memories rhinestone brad.

Thank you all for taking the time to visit today! I hope that you all have the opportunity to work with this amazing new product on your own creations, and I look forward to sharing more Vibez creations with you again soon!

Playing with Shimmerz Vibez

I've been playing with my VIBEZ and LOVING every minute of it! I especially love using them with the new Lush papers by My Mind's Eye.

Snapshots - On this page I used the RazzleDazzle Berry and Hermit the Frog.

Supplies: RazzleDazzle Berry Vibez & Hermit the Frog Vibez by Shimmerz Paints; Lush Black Papers by My Mind's Eye, Crystal accents by Zva Creative; Journal spot by Anna Griffin; Letter stickers by American Crafts; Butterfly punches by Stampin' Up and Martha Stewart Crafts; Other: Bookpaper, Shipping Tag, buttons, embroidery floss

I love how I was able to create a variegated background against the polka dots using the Hermit the Frog Vibez. You can really get an idea of the intense shimmer of these new products by seeing the Vibez misted over the black areas of the patterned paper.

I used the RazzleDazzle Berry to wet my patterned paper circle and then gather it together in a yo-yo flower. Doesn't it look just like a fabric yo-yo?!!! Fun! :)

Birthday Girl - On this page I used the RazzleDazzle Berry again to softly mist the background of this page.

Supplies: RazzleDazzle Berry Vibez by Shimmerz Paints, Lush Blue Papers and chipboard alpha by My Mind's Eye, Mary Mary papers and diecuts by My Mind's Eye, Pearl accents and Sm. White Paper Flowers by Zva Creative

I also used it to dye some of the small white paper flowers. Gotta love it when you can create custom dyed accents of your very own! :)
