Here Comes the Sun | July Color Kitz with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki @nikiclairecreates here with a new layout and process video using the July 2021 Color Kitz. The July Color Kitz consists of five colours of awesome Shimmerz Paints, an exclusive Here Comes the Sun cut file, a set of three Dotz and a pack of paper flower Embellishmentz.  The paint colours are: Frogget Me Not Vibez, Mandarin Mai Tai Coloringz, Caribbean Sunset Spritz, Green Olive Shimmerz and There She Rose Again Shimmerz. These colours are so perfect for Summer.

I loved the 60s hippie vibe of the Here Comes the Sun Cut file. I cut it multiple times. First I cut the letters from an orange cardstock, then I cut two backing pieces: one in white and one in a coral pink coloured cardstock. I painted the white one with the There She Rose Again Shimmerz paint and then layered the three pieces together. The coral backing I just used as a narrow shadow and the orange words I popped up on foam pads. What an awesome title!

I created the background using a sheet of white for the base. I cut a starburst design from yellow paper. I then cut smaller triangles out of a sheet of white Marshmallow cardstock. I then set about painting these to achieve a ombre sunset effect. I spritzed the middle section of each with Caribbean Sunset Spritz, then spritzed the outside edges with Mandarin Mai Tai and painted the point with There She Rose Again. I blended the colours with additional water where needed but they blended pretty well! I blasted them with my heat tool to dry them off and the effect was really stunning! It worked so well! I then layered these onto my yellow triangles.

I then cut smaller pink star print triangles to go on as another layer. I distressed the edges of all layers and stitched through them centrally with my sewing machine. I then stuck them all to the background and the result is a triple layered starburst – loads of hippie vibes there and it reminds me of tie-dying!

I positioned my cut file title in the middle of the starburst. I added my photos and then began to add a few embellishments. I used a few pieces of floral ephemera, a tag and some other ephemera pieces. Really there is SO much going on this layout that I needed to keep the embellishments to a minimum. I added two of the three Dotz: the green one with a flamingo, ad the yellow one that says ‘summer vibes’.

I painted the paper flowers using the two green paints from the Color Kitz. I began by spraying three of the with Frogget Me Not Vibez. The other three are painted with Green Olive Shimmerz. I also added some Green Olive Shimmerz details to the Frogget Me Not flowers too. The paper flowers took the paint so well. I added these either side of my photos. I also added a paper cocktail umbrella which I also painted with Green Olive so that it matched my layout!

I finished off with a few Spiegelmom Scraps sequins and some label stickers around my photos. Here's another look at the finished layout:

Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this crazy layout! Happy scrapping everyone. Don't forget if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, add my name to the comments to receive a freebie! Enjoy the video below.

"By the Fire" ~ Altered Control Board with Sandi

Hey, hey, Shimmerz Paints fans!
Sandi Clarkson here with you today sharing my latest project .. an altered furnace control board!

The back story here is that our heat went out late Christmas Eve and was not restored until January 2nd! It was a very long, miserable week to say the least. So, when the repairmen handed me this burned out control board, I knew I had to alter it and memorialize that we survived! Thank goodness for electricity and that Lowe's had plenty of space heaters.

The second back story is that when I get a new shipment of product from Shimmerz, I always open it as soon as I possibly can and sit down and spray (or brush) them all out on the "nearest to me" sheet of white paper! Maybe even a paper towel. So, I wanted my project to sort of replicate that habit. Since rainbow patterns are popular in crafting, I went with that!

My first step was to paint the control board white using some glass bead texture paste. Once that was dry, I began to spray from left to right.  My colors used were the following:

To amp up that glorious texture created by the object itself, I added some like-colored glass beads here and there.
Then I added my flower and mechanical light bulb.

Here's another angle of what and my hubby and I are calling our little city! Haha!

My title is from 7 Dots and is sort of another tongue in cheek gimmick!
Yes, I am trying to make the best of our adventure.
It could have been soooo much worse!

Here you can see the netting I added under the florals.
The chicken wire is solely for photographing.

Trying to show you a close-up of the beads.

One last photo and I guess I'm done!
I hope you are inspired.

This was one of those fun, cathartic projects.
Just aim and spray to your hearts content!
Loving my Shimmerz Paints!

Autumn Tags by Joyce

Like so many of you, Autumn is my favorite time of year.  Now, and when I was a kid, if I find a pile of faded dead leaves ahead of me on my walking path, I stomp on them just to hear the crunchy noise they make under my shoes.

These tags weren't anything like I thought they would turn out to be. You know how you have a certain idea in your head while creating, and a little happy accident materializes? Well, these are my little happy accidents. I first spritz over bright colors of yellow, orange, green and red and they were just too bright for my taste that day. I added some gesso over my work to tone down the colors, and by doing so, the colors blended and toned down to warm dusty autumn colors.  I added some elements I received in some happy mail from my art buddy and soon the tags were creating themselves. I love it when that happens!

Shimmerz Products use on this project were as follows:

Spritz - Tuscan Sun, and Olive Branch
Vibez-Snow Storm

Coloringz-Bleeding Heart, and Mandarin Mai Tai

I hope you experience a little happy accident too.

Thank you for letting me share with you.

Positive Art Journal Spread | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a fun Art Journal Page with you all. I was in the mood to paint so I pulled out my handy dandy Art Journal. I am using my Daler Rowney Mixed Media Travelbook. I love the size of the pages in this journal, not too big, but enough space for me to get creative. I created a fun and colorful spread.

I began with a stencil and one of my favorite paste-eez in the color Tree Hugger which is a gorgeous teal. The stencil I used looks like pomegranate seeds. I love the texture the Paste-eez and stencil immediately add to my page. It looks pretty all by itself but of course I needed to add lots more color to it.

I pulled out some of my awesome Shimmerz paints in several colors, I used a Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and Pink Stilettos and three Creameez in Trippin in the Tropics, Boogie Boardin Blue, and Lettuce get together. I used a watercolor brush and scattered the colors around the page in between the stenciled image. I mixed it up and added the intense colors in some areas and used a little more water to soften the same colors up in other areas. I love the look of this mix.

I used a black sharpie pen and added some faux stitching around parts of the stenciled image to add some additional interest. I love the detail that the faux stitching adds. I also added some positive coordinating word stickers to finish it off.
Supplies Used:
Paste-eez: Tree Hugger
Coloringz: Mandarin Mai Tai, Pink Stilettos
Creameez: Lettuce get Together, Boogie Boardin Blue, Trippin in the Tropics

I Love Today Scrapbook Layout | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a scrapbook layout with you all. I am scrapbooking  a photo of myself. I recently started my own business and this picture just expresses how I feel in the clothing I'm selling. I decided to create a fun and simple background.

I began with scribbly floral cut file. I placed it on top of a white piece of carsdstock. I used Several Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai, Well Blue me Down and Peachy Keen. I also used a Spritz in Saphire, a Vibez in Sweet Heart and a Creameez in Sky's the Limit. For the Creameez, I watered it down and added it to a small spray bottle to get the same mist effect as with the other colors.
I then used the misted cut file itself on top of the white cardstock. I slightly offset the cut file so that it was not directly over the misted area. I love the look this created. So simple and so fun.
I used a teal stripped transparency as a layer behind my photo. It makes my photo stand our over all of these gorgeous colors.
I used black foam thickers for my tittle. I also scattered around some foam hearts and stars. I chose not to embellish any further, The fun bright colors were enough embellishment for me.

Products Used:
Coloringz: Peachy Keen, Well Blue me Down, Mandarin Mai Tai
Spritz: Saphire
Vibzs: Sweetheart
Creameez: Sky's the Limit

XOXO

Snow Day Layout | Katty Miranda

Hello friends. Katty here, back to share another layout with you all. I know we are all in Spring mode, however todays layout is all about Snow and Winter. I am scrapping this photo of my two boys playing in the snow. This was on our last Winter trip to Utah. Were from Miami, so any time we get to see snow is very exciting for us.

I pulled out the beautiful Simple Stories Winter Wonderland Collection. I used a scribble circle cut file and cut out two circles using one of the patterned papers from the collection. I arranged then in the center of the page.

I added lots of fun color using my Shimmerz Paints. I began with a some of my Coloringz in Well Blue Me Down and a mix of My Bleeding Heart and Mandarin Mai Tai, I was trying to get the pretty Orange from the collection. I added color using the packaging technique. I wanted the color to show through the cut file and around the photo.

I brought in an Aqua Huez in Blue Me Away (Aqua Huez are currently 50% off in the shop and will soon be discontinued) and will add some of the Mandarin Mai Tai to bring in some Yellow, it really brightened everything up.

I added my photo to the center of the page and added a few paper layers behind it. I added my tittle and a few embellishment clusters using the ephemera  and stickers from the Winter Wonderland Collection.

I finished off the layout by adding some ink splatters using the same colors and a Spritz in Caribbean Sunset. I also added a mat around the whole layout using a dark brown patterned paper from the collection.

I love how this turned out. The paint truly made this layout extra special.

Taming the Terrible Twos Layout | Katty Miranda

Hello everyone! Happy Superbowl Sunday Katty here! I hope you are all having a wonderful day!
I am back today to share another 12x12 layout.

Today I will be working with the new Paste-eez, these are the smooth dimensional pastes with a flat finish that we released last month. They are so fun to play with. I used two colors on this layout, Raspberry Sherbert and Hold the Mustard. I used them through a Prima Stencil. I layered the stenciled Paste-eez and some scallop shaped patterned papers on the bottom half of my layout.

The top portion was plain white. I wanted to add some color so I used a Coloringz in Oh say can you Sea with the same stencil. I also scattered around a few small flowers that I had cut out with my Silhouette Cameo. I colored them with a Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and a Creameez in Berry Hot. I colored the rest with some gold paint from my stash.

I added block enamel dots to the flowers I scattered around and added a couple of simple embellishments. I created a long tittle mixing a few different fonts in coordinating colors, this is something I love to do.
This was a lot of fun to create. I'm really glad I decided to add the teal.
There is a process video on my YouTube channel if you'd like to watch.
