Boys Rule | Boy Themed Layout using Mists from November Color Kits

Hello friends!

Lorimar here sharing a new boy-themed layout! I just loved the rich, deep color mists found in both November Color kits; and loved them even more when I saw how well they paired up with Chance of Rain (Vibez). Rather than document a Christmas picture, I went with more of a colorful, boy-themed, winter-feel layout.

Here's how I made it: Using a 12x12 white cardstock, I added clear gesso using a palette knife to the whole sheet; set it aside to dry. In the meantime, I started pulling out boy-themed embellishments from my stash. Once the base was dry, I began adding color by spraying it on one side (enough to form a puddle) and then lifting and turning the base just so to form the drips. I did this twice with all four colors just to get a bolder look; I alternated the placement of the puddles and drips. They were: Rolling In The Hay, Rose Gold Red, Hot Fudge, and Chance of Rain. Finally finished the base by adding splatters.

Once my base was dry, I trimmed an inch off of each side to get a 10x10 inch square of cardstock; ruffled up the edge with a distressing tool and glued it in the center of my patterned paper. For my pictures, I matted them with from red cardstock and black and white gingham patterned paper. Added some craft foam behind them and tied some red and white twine along the bottom portion of the picture.

For finalizing my layout, I used a variety of boy themed stickers, chipboard stickers, puffy stickers, sequins, ephemera and wood veneers. Wrote my journaling in black ink in the left hand corner of the layout and splashed some Rain of Chance all around the finished layout to tie everything together.

So that's it! Pretty simple, and yet so stunning! Hope you're inspired to create something like and get your stories documented. Thanks for stopping by! Remember to type my name in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order to receive some free paint!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words | 12x12 layout featuring Jolly Green Giant and Rose Gold Red

Hello eveyone!
I've got my mind on Christmas, and Christmas on my mind! This joyous, festive season is fast approaching and we are all busy preparing for it. This layout is not the exception! To make it, I used traditional Christmas colors to document a non-Christmas memory.

This picture was taken earlier this month and I just had to document it ASAP! Used the colors within it as inspiration for the color scheme, and ended up using:

- Jolly Green Giant (Creameez) [From the November Color Kits]
- Honey Dew List (Creameez)
- Rose Gold Red (Vibez) [From the November Color Kits]

- Red Necking (Creameez)
- Before Dawn (Vibez)
- Miner, Miner 49er (Inklingz)

Chose a "texty" paper as my base and faded out 3 areas (1 main and 2 smaller clusters) with white acrylic paint. Once dry, I sued a baby bottle cap (LOL!) and Before Dawn to make 4 circles, and added some splatters with it. Then I used the packaging technique to add in Jolly Green Giant and Rose Gold Red, and then splattered them accordingly. Set my base aside and began working on my layers.

Trimmed my picture down to roughly 3x4, left a white border around it, and matted it with some red cardstock. Then began layering in patterned paper in blacks, reds and greens. For texture, I also layered in a small glassine bag. Added a strip of gold glitter cardstock in order to tie it in with the other gold elements that I would be adding to finish off the layout.

For embellishments, I clustered 2 different flowers from Vicki Boutin's Color Kaleidoscope and Wild Flower and Honey collections. Colored the leaves and centers of the flowers with Rose Gold Red, Jolly Green Giant, and Honey Dew List, and splattered Miner, Miner 49er on them.

Finally, once everything was dry, I built my layout. Added extra dimension to my main cluster by placing the paper layers on some 3D craft foam. Balanced out the layout by adding some torn scraps of patterned paper to the other 2 cluster areas. Layered in the flowers and, to wrap it all up, placed some tiny word stickers in black, glued some gold enamels dots, and splattered Miner, Miner 49er all around the finished layout.

Here are some extra close-ups!

Hope your inspired to use traditional Christmas color in a non-Christmas layout, and really challenge yourself.

November Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all!  Brianna here using the fabulous November Edition Color Kitz!  At only $15.95, this kit is absolutely gorgeous and comes with 2 Vibez in Rose Gold Red and Rolling In The Hay,  a Shimmerz in Peacocks Plume, an Inklingz in Imperial Amethyst and an exclusive Dotz set in Sweet Seasonals.

First, I took a few pieces of vellum and taped them down to a board.  In doing this,  it would help the vellum stay in place and minimize warping.  If you've added any liquids to vellum before, you'll know that it will instantly curl up!  I did want some of bubbling and warping, but not too much.  After it was taped down, I applied all 4 colors in the kit and let it dry overnight.  The next day, I cut leave shapes from the colored vellum and ran them through my sewing machine.

I was inspired by some leaves that came in my recent HKC kit.  I've done this technique before and punched out shapes using punches from my stash.  Whether you're free hand cutting shapes or using punches, this is just another simple way to use your Color Kitz!

For my background, I tore some patterned paper and layered them at the top of my layout.  For my base, I used a thick white cardstock and applied white gesso to the mid section down to the bottom.  I mixed the Vibez Rolling In The Hay with the Vibez Rose Gold Red to help create a deeper orange tone.  I applied that color along with more of the Rolling In The Hay and splattered both colors around.

I layered and created clusters around my photo with the leaves that I created.  I love all of that shimmer on top of the vellum! They're so vibrant and pretty.  The stitching just adds another layer of texture.  I added some chipboard stickers in the same clusters and then put down my title.

These Color Kitz are just beautiful and I hope that I've inspired you in some way today!  There's some still in stock but once November is over, they will no longer be available so make sure to snag yours before they're gone!  Add my name in the notes/comments section of your order to receive a freebie!  Thanks so much for stopping by and we will see you next month with the December Color Kitz!

"Thankful"

Oh.my.heart!
So thankful for this season, indeed! So super pretty, too!
All the Farmhouse & Fall feels happenin' here!

Here's a better look for you....

Just DIVINE!!!

Vibez Rollin' In The Hay takes center stage in this layout, and geez, it's simply stunning!!!
I used this amazing color to back the FLORAL PUMPKIN cut file designed by Wild Pilot & courtesy of the Silhouette Store. I just love how effective this looks, and couldn't help but pair it with that similar die cut from the Paige Evans, Truly Grateful collection and our gorgeous exclusive pumpkin Dotz!  #pumpkinsforthewin

You'll see that I used both the Shimmerz Peacock's Plume and Inklingz Imperial Amethyst to paint the flowers on the cut file, and then backed these flowers with similar colored pattern papers for that added wow factor! To create the green for the leaves, I sprayed a lil Vibez Rollin' in the Hay into a paint tray, and added a few generous droplets of Shimmerz Peacock's Plume & mixed up this pretty 'bonus' color! Vibez Rose Gold Red is the perfect color for the berries, and completes the look!

How gorgeous are the exclusive pumpkin Dotz?!!
You'll spot two of these lovelies in this embellishment cluster, and the other one adorning my sweet photo!
I combined the Hip Kit Club August 2019 Main Kit, and SpiegelMom Scraps: Jewel of the Nile sequin mix to decorate my layout. But in the end, it's all about the color...

Seriously stunning colors in this month's kit!
And yes, Vibez: Rollin' in the Hay is going on my official must-have colorz list! This color has absolutely wowed me! Ga-ga-gor-jus!!!!
