Forever | Shimmerz Color Kitz April 2022

 Hello Shimmerz Fans,

Isn't the April Color Kitz just uber cute? I truly believe it's my most favorite kit to date; I've swooned over those gorgeous blues and purples, and that pop of green is really something! My layout, this time, is a mixed media overload so I've divided up the process into areas rather than documenting it in chronological order. If you would like to create along, you can grab the kit HERE and watch the process video HERE.

Here we go!

#1 - Base -

I began with a white sheet of textured cardstock and added It's A Boy and Colder Than Ice in brushstrokes on the right hand side of the base. To create that artsy look, I used a scraping tool to smoosh the two blues together.

#2 - Green Mat -

To balance out the blues and pick up on the green blouse that I was wearing in the pictures, I cut a scrap piece of cardstock to roughly 6x5. Then I punched 2 of the edges with a notebook punch, and sprayed and splashed Keep Palm on it.

#3 - Sequined Hearts

I had some leftover heart negatives from a cutfile I had previously used so I put them to good work by adding glue to them and then pouring the sequins (from the kit) on them. They will serve as embellishments.

#4 - Embellishments -

For the first time in a long while, I actually sat down at my desk and pre-planned my layout. I began to pull out random embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla Studios, Pebbles, Simple Stories, Vicki Boutin, Paige Evans, and American Crafts that fit the color scheme from the Color Kitz and the overall theme of my layout. I also picked out some lavender, periwinkle and white thread to add in.

Assembling my layout

Starting off with my base, I prepped it, I then layered in some of the of the ephemera and the green mat beneath my pictures (sized 4x4 and matted with patterned paper and craft foam for dimension). Afterwards, I added in all the embellishments, popped up the sequined hearts on craft foam and stuck on the Dotz from the Color Kitz. Finished the layout off by splattering some more of the gorgeous colors and writing in my journaling.

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today; I hope I've inspired you in some way to get your story documented. Be sure to use my name (LORIMAR) in the comments section of your next Shimmerz Order so you can receive a freebie!

Fun In The Sun | Mixed Media Layout

 Hello Shimmerz people!

Here's another mixed media layout!  This time, though, it's a summer-y layout, perfect for the upcoming summer. You can grab the items I used HERE and watch a process video HERE.

I began by adding clear gesso to the sheet of white textured cardstock. The gesso will allow the colors to blend together rather than seep into the paper. While it was drying, I began to prep my photos by trimming them down a bit and adding white cardstock as a mat beneath them. The smaller picture was also backed up with craft foam for dimension.

Get ready for the colorful part! I grabbed So Bluetiful, In Deep, Beach Glass, Love Ocean #9 and Sease The Day... and basically went crazy spraying and splattering them into the background. For extra colorful blending, I sprayed the colors and then lifted the cardstock up, tilting it. Set the base aside to dry and began to look for all the embellishments.

These embellishments are a mixture of the Sunkissed collections by Cocoa Vanilla Studios and Simple Stories. Once the base was dried, I assembled the layout as you can see in the photos and wrote in my journaling. I added a few splatters of Sweet heart to tie everything together and done!

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today; I hope I've inspired you in some way to get your story documented. Be sure to use my name (LORIMAR) in the comments section of your next Shimmerz Order so you can receive a freebie!

Thankful for You! | Audrey Yeager

Hello everyone!  I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving if you are in the US!  And if not, I hope you have taken a few minutes this week to think of all the things you are grateful for!

Last Thanksgiving, we got together with the kids' cousins, which we haven't done in a while, and it was a great time to spend together.  I used some blues and golds on the background carstock of my layout below.

I began with some grey-blue carstock as my base and did a wash with some Creameez in Lapis Dance and Boogie Board Blue

To make a focal point for my photo, I used a scrapper to spread some Foilz in 24 Karat, which added a beautiful, shinny sheen to my background.  Finally, I mixed up a shade of orange using more Creameez in Dandy-Lion and Red-Necking. Then, I stitched over the circle with my sewing machine to make is stand out.

To further highlight the circle, I framed it with my title of stickers, and added some other stickers and bits for embellishment.

For my photo cluster, I created some banner-like strips with patterned paper, then layered stickers, chipboard, die cuts, and more.  To pick up on the gold in the Foilz, I used some gold puffy leaves and letters around the page.

You can watch my whole process below!  I a SO GRATEFUL for the scrapping community and their support and contributions!

Autumn Days | Mixed Media Layout with Simple Stories Cozy Days

 Hello everyone!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and, while I know that things have been a bit different lately, there's always something to be thankful for.

Today's layout is mostly focused on making one's own background and piling on the embellishments. If you'd like to see how it's made, click here.

I began with a cream cardstock as my base and began spraying my base with Bamboo Leaf, Moody Mauve, Glorious Day, Cotton Candy and Hot Fudge. I didn't add any gesso this time around because I didn't want my colors to blend too much. After spraying the colors, I added a couple of splatters of Hot Fudge.

I fussy-cut some tags and icon squares from the collection (Simple Stories Cozy Days) to add to the embellishment clusters that would hang tight around each of the pictures.

My embellishment clusters contain a mix of stickers, ephemera, foam stickers, and chipboard stickers to really play with the dimension on the layout. Each picture is popped up on some craft foam, and each has a tag as a layering piece beneath them. Once I was done with everything, I splashed a bit of Moody Mauve and Glorious Day around my layout to add some more Shimmerz goodness!

That's it! It was a super simple and quick layout to make, and I hope I've inspired you to get your stories documented while playing around with your Shimmerz Paints. Remember, you can always receive a freebie in your next Shimmerz order if you type LORIMAR in the comments section when placing it.

Thank you so much for joining me today! Stay safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Love This | Jen McMurtrey

Hey Shimmerz friends!

It's Jen today with a colorful project documenting my love for flowers using the exclusive Shimmerz June cut file.

I love using cut files on my projects and this month's floral design is beautiful. Using white cardstock as my base, I first cut the design before spritzing the following colors on the paper before removing it from the cutting mat.

While the paints were drying, the paper began curling and lifting from the cutting mat. I had intended to only use the flower but loved the negative cuts so much that I glued them down as well.

After gluing the pieces in place, I splattered more of the same Shimmerz colors on the flower and white cardstock.

Using patterned papers, die cuts, and sticker from Simple Stories' I Am collection, I began embellishing the layout.

Next, I pulled some gold Thickers and enamel dots from my stash.

My last step was to type my journaling with a manual typewriter and adhering it to the layout.

I love how the cut file turned out with the Shimmerz Paints - it is lovely.

Beauty with Shimmerz Paints

Hello friends!

It's Jennifer today with a new project featuring tons of Shimmerz paints and some good ol' elbow grease. This layout was a true labor of love . . . for the first time in a long while, I broke out my Big Shot and dies to create stunning flowers that I absolutely love.

To get this project started, I painted two pieces of watercolor paper. The first was the beautiful colors of the flowers and the second was the green and golds in the leaves.

Once both pages had dried, I began cutting the flowers using metal dies. Each flower is three pieces of paper - the middle layer is quite intricate and was not cutting well. To alleviate this problem, I grabbed the Simple Stories Simple Vintage Garden District collection and cut patterned papers. Doing this made the process much faster and I love the contrast.

After the flowers and leaves were assembled, the layout came together in under 15 minutes! Again, I used patterned paper from Simple Stories for the background and began adhering flowers.

Each flower and leaf was adhered with foam squares to give more depth and dimension.

To complete the project, I added a few chipboard hearts and a title.

The overall effect is so pretty and the colors of the Shimmerz Paints are stunning!

Jolly Good Cheer | Christmas Layout with process video

Hello everyone!

Thank you so much for joining me today for another colorful, Christmassy layout. From start to finish, this layout took me about 3 hours to complete, but most of it was spent backing the cutfile and waiting for the base to dry. In terms of patterned paper and embellishments, I paired Simple Stories Holly Jolly and Say Cheese Christmas collections; and the cutfile is called Santa Hats background by Virginia Walker (I'll leave the links to her shop and cutfile at the end of this post). You'll find the link to the process video there as well.

I first began my layout by backing the cutfile. I cut it out on white cardstock, and used the text paper from Say Cheese Christmas collection to place a Christmas-themed word on the border of the Santa hats. Various papers were used to back the actual hats. For some texture, I used Dazzlerz Puttin' On The Glitz and Paige Evan's star stencil on some light blue cardstock; this was used to back the little balls at the end of the Santa Hats.

For my base, I used a Vicki Boutin Foundations papers, Shimmerz Mists and white acrylic paint. Sprayed some water onto the paper to give the mists some extra wiggle and blending space, and sprayed Cotton Candy, Jeni B Blue, and Hermit the Frog. I realized that the colors were a bit too bright when compared to the patterned paper that I had used so I sprayed some Chance of Rain and Razzle Dazzle Berry also and let them blend together. Without waiting for the mists to dry, I watered down some white acrylic paint and splattered it onto the base. This techniques creates a marbled look, almost looking like a galaxy! Before setting the base aside to dry, I watered down some Dazzlerz Puttin' on the Glitz and splattered it unto the background just to add a bit of glitter to it.

While my base was drying, I matted my pictures using the same light blue cardstock and added some craft foam behind them for some dimension. I then began to pull embellishments out from the Simple Stories Holly Jolly Collection and divide them among the pictures. Once my base was completely dry, I added in the cutfile (also on craft foam) and then placed my pictures. Glued down my embellishments and finished off the layout by adding the title to the upper left hand corner using foam thickers by Pink Paislee and a die cut from Simple Stories. And that's it! Here are a few more close-ups.

I love this layout; so much so that I've placed it in a 12x12 shadow box and it's part of the Christmas decor in my living room!

Paste-eez meets Shimmerz Sprays for a colorful explosion

Hey everyone, Beck BT here again this time with a scrapbook page.  I am really enjoying creating scrapbook pages lately and this one is no exception.  I wanted to create a fun mix of colors and hitting my Shimmerz products make it just so easy.

Shimmerz Products Used:

Paste-eez - Peach Fuzz
Coloringz - No Yoking
Vibez - Pop Art Pink
Spritz - Ruby
Vibez - Egg Noggin'
Vibez - Jeni B Bleu

Other products:
Simple Stories - Good day Sunshine collection papers
Simple Stories - Good day Sunshine collection sticker elements
Simple Stories enamel dots
Silhouette 'love' cut file
Indigoblu Stencil

Shimmery fun:
To create my page I used my Shimmers to create a fun background base for my page.

I started out by applying the paste-eez through a stencil, graduating it lighter as I moved toward the sides of the page.

Next I added fun color to the background by splattering various colours featured in my photo to tie the photo into the page and accent it.

I never planned on the big yellow splat, but I must say I kinda like it so didn't set out to hide it.

I hope you enjoyed my share today!

Till next time
