Some Bunny Loves You | Niki Rowland | April 2021 Color Kitz

Hi everyone, this is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) with a new layout and process video using the April 2021 Color Kitz.

I am absolutely in love with this kit, it has such beautiful colours. The kit contains five colours of Shimmerz paints:  Pixie Dust Blingz, It’s Mint to Be Shimmerz, So Blue-ti-ful Vibez, Taffy Hour Vibez and Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz. As well as these beautiful colours of paints, the Kitz contains a pack of three beautiful Dotz and a sequin mix by Spiegelmom Scraps called Baby Stella. In addition to these things there is also an exclusive cut file which is a title ‘some bunny loves you’.

I started by cutting the cut file from marshmallow card. I also cut the backfilled letters from lilac paper. I then painted the outline cut file with Pixie Dust Blingz. This is a very light coloured paint but it’s packed FULL of glitter and shimmer so it gave my white cut file a beautiful colour, sparkle and texture. I set that aside to dry while I worked on my background.

I began to make a background with the other colours from the April Kitz. I started by spraying Sweet Baby Girl all over the background. I also added Taffy Hour Vibez and So Blue-ti-ful Vibez. I applied these by spraying directly onto the background. I dried them with a heat tool and then applied It’s Mint to Be Shimmerz using the packaging technique and dripping large drips. I also added more Sweet Baby Girl. Once it was all dry I added splatters of all colours.

Once my cut file was dry I backed it with the lilac paper ready cut earlier. I arranged this title and my four photos onto my layout. My photos just weren’t working with the colours so I re-printed them in black and white and then they worked perfectly! That’s a great tip, if ever you have colours that clash, the printing photos in black and white almost always fixes that problem!

I stuck down all the elements, including some tags behind the photos and some bunny embellishments. I only added a few more embellishments: some labels, some chipboard pieces and a couple of Perspextives. I also added two of the Dotz that came with the April Color Kitz.

I finished off by scattering the beautiful Baby Stella Spiegelmom Scraps sequins all around the outside of my design and then added a few last splatters. Here's another look at the finished layout:

April 2021 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!!  Brianna Lepper back with you today sharing a new layout using the oh so amazing and beautiful April 2021 Color Kitz.  This month, we get two new exclusive sprays!!  For $26.95 + shipping, here's what you get in this months kit:

It's Mint to Be Shimmerz
*NEW* Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz
Pixie Dust Blingz
*NEW* So Blue-ti-ful Spritz
1 exclusive layered process "Some Bunny Loves Youcut file created by Shimmerz Paints
1 set of Dotz
1 package of *EXCLUSIVE* Spiegelmom Scraps Sequins "Baby Stella"

Here's my layout, make sure to check out my process video at the end of this post:

I had so much fun with the kit this month!   The colors are beautiful and the two new sprays that we get are stunning!  To start, I cut the exclusive cut file out on a piece of white textured cardstock using my Silhouette.  I also offset and cut the backing pieces since I planned on adding lots of color to them.  In doing this, it made backing the cut file so much easier in the end!  I love backing cut files with mixed media, have you given it a try?

Next, I got to work on my background.  I prepped a piece of thick white cardstock with gesso and painted all of the colors from the kit right onto it.  When I started painting on the Blingz Pixie Dust, I made sure to scoop a lot of the paint onto my brush to make sure I had TONS of shimmer and shine.

Once my painted backing pieces were finished drying, I went ahead and backed my cut file.  Then using the SpiegelMom sequins that we get in the kit, I created shakers in all of the "O's" in the cut file.  I love making shakers in a cut file, it's so fun and this sequin mix is so cute!!

Next, I popped up the entire cut file on some foam tape and adhered it down to my background.  Then I took the Dotz from the kit and added some tangled thread underneath each one.  I love the texture and interest that it gives!

I embellished the rest of my page using the new Garden Party collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper.  Talk about the perfect match!!

Here's one more up close shot!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope I've inspired you in some way!  When you place your next Shimmerz order, make sure to add my name to the notes/comments section of your order and you'll receive a small freebie!  See you in my next post!

2 Cute | Boy-themed layout with process video

Hello everyone!

Started this new year by making a boy themed layout with lots of colors and layers. It's a pretty simple layout so let's get started! For further help, link to process video is posted at the end of this blogpost.

Started off my background with white cardstock covered in clear gesso and began spraying in colors with the following mists: Bed of Roses (Spritz), Lil' Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Jeni B Blue (Vibez), In Deep (Coloringz), Princess (Vibez), Tuscan Sun (Spritz), Rollin' In The Hay (Vibez). I added these colors just by spraying them unto the background and rolling my paper towel roll over them. After doing this 3 times to ensure a bold colored background, I splattered black and white acrylic paint. Set it aside to dry.

While the background dried, I began to work on my paper layers. Used Shimelle's Field Trip collection patterned papers;began trimming them into various widths and lengths and finally distressed most of the edges. Once the background was dry, I layered all the pieces of patterned paper unto the background, adding an extra layer of paper with a teal polka-dot acetate sheet.

Added some stars (leftovers from 2 different cutfiles) which I previously colored with Hermit the Frog (Vibez), Lil' Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Bed of Roses (Spritz), Hint of Mint (Spritz) and In Deep (Coloringz). Popped these up on craft foam and layered in some more ephemera and stickers from Field Trip. For more interest and color, I punched out some leaves and also layered them in. I added some vellum beneath the title thickers in order to make it pop even more.

Finished the layout off with splatters of Pixie Dust (Blingz) and some Nuvo Drops in dark green, and added my journaling beneath my title.

That's it! I hope I've inspired you to get creative with your Shimmerz colors and get your stories documented. Remember, you can get free paint in your next Shimmerz order by typing in my name in the comments section.

Friends | Monochromatic Layout featuring Peacock's Plume and Anchors Away | Lorimar Ortega

Hello everyone!

November is a month full of thankfulness, and busy-ness preparing for the Christmas Season. Two of the many things that I'm grateful for are photographed and documented in this layout: My son Danny and our dog, Amy. I went with a monochromatic theme showcasing different tones of blues. For extra pops of "color", I added some embellishments in white and black.
To make this layout, I started with a light blue cardstock by Bazzill. added clear gesso and set it aside to dry. While it dried, I dove into my stash of embellishments and scrap patterned paper searching for anything blue, black and white. I matted my picture on some white cardstock and then added some layers of different patterned paper with torn and/or distressed borders. For extra texture, I tied some chunky Baker's Twine in light blue to the right hand side of the picture.

The colors that I used on my base are listed below. Once the base was dried, I began adding colors in a sort of ombre fashion using the packaging technique, starting with the lightest color are the bottom. I did add a bit more color to the bottom as well so that it looked balanced. Afterwards, I added some extra splatters in Anchors Away and Pixie Dust.

Colors used:
- Anchors Away (Shimmerz)
- Peacock's Plume (Shimmerz) <--- Part of the November color Kitz.
- Tickle Me Turquoise (Shimmerz)
- Boggie Boardin' Blue (Creameez)
- Colder Than Ice (Shimmerz)
- Hi Ho Silver (Blingz)
- Before Dawn (Coloringz)
- Pixie Dust (Blingz)

After everything was dry, I added my picture with paper layers unto some craft foam for added dimension and adhered it to my base. Then I began embellishing, taking care to balance everything out. Finally, added my journaling with a black sharpie marker and added a few splatters of Anchors Away.

I simply love how it turned out! It looks very wintery for me which is just fitting since the picture was taken in January.

Hope I've inspired you to document your story and to embrace a monochromatic look to your layout. Remember, type my name in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order so you can receive some free paint!

Until next time, Happy Craftin'!

Happy Adventure

Dark background and fussy cut florals? Yes, please! I love the look floral bunches as faux photo corners. Pair that with Shimmerz on dark patterned paper and you’ve got one gorgeous layout!

I love using dark backgrounds because they make everything pop! I selected this dark blue paper from Paige Evans Horizon collection and added some Pixie Dust (Blingz) by using the packaging technique and splatters, focusing the mixed media slightly to the right side of the layout. Then I added the text paper (also from Paige Evan Horizon) and used the same techniques only with Caribbean Sunset. Afterwards, I tore an opening on the left side and back it with some of the text paper to add another cluster area.

I set my background aside and got to making my florals. I love fussy cutting flowers and then layering them unto a layout because they just add so much in terms of color, texture and dimension. For these I used 3 different stamp sets and black archival ink; 2 by Altenew and 1 by Maggie Holmes. For my yellow flowers, I colored some white cardstock with Lil’ Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Tuscan Sun (Spritz), Meet Me @ Sunset (Inklings), and Dandy Lion (Creameez). I made my blue butterflies by making brushstrokes of Boggie Boardin’ Blue (Creameez), Tickle Me Turquiose (Shimmerz), and Corney Flower Blue (Inklingz) on some light blue cardstock. I stamped some leaflets on some green cardstock that I colored with Green Goddess (Inklingz), Jilted Jade (Shimmerz), and Pinin’ For You (Creameez). Finally for my pink flowers, I used hot pink cardstock, stamped it with embossing ink, poured white embossing powder on top and then set it with my heat gun. Once everything was thoroughly dry, I went to town fussy-cutting.

Once my background and florals were dry and prepped, I backed my picture con some white cardstock and layered some patterned paper from Paige’s Horizon collection. I popped this paper cluster on some craft foam and placed slightly to the left of where the two patterned papers meet. Then I spent some time fiddling with the placement of the flowers and, once I was satisfied with the look, I began sticking everything down and popped certain embellishments and flowers on 3D tape. Mixed in a couple of florals, stickers, enamel hearts from the Horizon collection. Placed the chipboard title beneath my picture, added some sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps (Freezin’ Season), and added a few splatters of Marigold (Shimmerz) to tie everything together.

I loved how this turned out!! If you liked any of the colors you saw me use, you can find them all @ www.shimmerzpaints.com.

Hi Shimmerz Friends & Fans!

Amanda here, and boy oh boy was I excited when I saw the July Color Kitz!
SO.much.awesomeness!!!
I just couldn't wait to get creating with this fabulous kit!
But enough chatter, let's get straight into the good stuff!
Here's what I created with the July Color Kitz....

"Shine Bright"

Whoa! Talk about wow factor!
This month's kit is simply spectacular! La la LOVE!!!

If you missed kit release day, you can check out The July Edition below....

Kit Contents:

Vibez Seas The Day - Exclusive New Color only available in this kit!
Shimmerz Royal Red
Blingz Pixie Dust
Inklingz Blue My Mind
Spiegelmom Scraps Gold Stardust Sequins

Yay!!!

Told you it was awesome!
If you're super quick, there might just be one or two of these lovelies still left in the store!

Let's take a closer look at my layout....

Seriously so cool!
I've combined the July Color Kitz with the Elle's Studio July Kits & stamps as they're truly a match made in heaven! All the July 4th colors, and so many creative possibilities!
I opted for a messy mixed background & lots of luscious layers!

I started my layout by creating that divine blue base using both the Seas The Day and Blue My Mind paints. The golden shimmer in the Inklingz Blue My Mind took me by surpsise - it's completely phenomenal! Blew my mind is an understatement!

I applied a few paint layers of these two colors, & then added in some Blingz Pixie Dust too!
Gor-jus!
I splattered all these colors throughout the layout for added interest.

Next came lots of paper lovelies and scrapbook supplies from the July Elle's Studio Kit & New Releases. I just love a good layered photo cluster - don't you?

I scattered lots of the Gold Stardust sequins throughout the page - they're so super tiny and the perfect amount of sparkle for my masculine design. Also, they're stars & stars are errrything!
They're kind of my go to embellishment for boy layouts, & also perfect for documenting all your July celebrations. Stars for the win!

For finishing touches, I added droplets of Shimmerz Royal Red, and lots of repeat stamping with the Elle's Studio: You Are My Sunshine Stamp.
Both my title, Shine Bright, & subtitle, Fun Is Here, have been created with the Title Builder Vol.3 Stamp Bundle Set. Fabulous!

Wanna see all the details?
You can watch my process video of how it all came together HERE.

Thanks so much for watching!
I hope I have inspired you to get painting with the July Edition Kitz today!
