Shimmerz Tiles

Hello! Ericka here and today I'm sharing a fun bright card I made with Vibez sprays and hexagon dies.

I love these beautiful and bright colors. I started by spraying Vibez in Sweet Heart, Hermit the Frog, and Jeni B Bleu on photo paper and then set it aside to dry. It takes a bit of time to dry since the photo paper has a coating so the color doesn't soak in as quickly.

Once the papers were dry, I took the Hexagon dies and ran them through my die cutting machine.

I arranged the hexagon pieces and adhered them to the card base with foam tape for some added dimension.

I die cut the Pinkfresh Hello sentiment three times and glued the pieces together and attached it to my card to finish it.

Shimmerz Christmas Tagz | Ericka Strange

Hey Shimmerz fanz! Ericka here and I'm just popping in today with some quick Christmas tags I made using a variety of the Shimmerz sprays and the Concord & 9th Snow Flurry set.

I had so much fun playing with these sprays and finding beautiful colors to blend together. I used watercolor paper so was able to add as much spray and water to my tags as I wanted to get some pretty blends.

For the first tag, I used Vibez Princess and Vibez Sweet Heart. I love the shine the Vibez spray has and it makes a beautiful background.

This tag has a blend of Vibez Hermit the Frog and Coloringz Well Blue Me Down. I love the vibrant look of these two sprays together.
The Vibez has the beautiful shine while the Coloringz adds more pigment without the shine.

My next tag is a little more masculine with the darker colors. I used Vibez Grey Flannel with the Coloringz Blue Me Down.

On my last tag, I the same Vibez Hermit the Frog and Coloringz Well Blue Me Down but this time less of the green and more of the blue.  This tag is a little more grungy since I accidentally stamped the back of the snowflake and white heat embossed it. I then stamped the right side of the snowflake and heat embossed it with a pink. Still fun but a little more grungy.

That's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget if you make a purchase on our new website, type in ERICKA in the comments and you'll receive a freebie with your order!

Happy Adventure

Dark background and fussy cut florals? Yes, please! I love the look floral bunches as faux photo corners. Pair that with Shimmerz on dark patterned paper and you’ve got one gorgeous layout!

I love using dark backgrounds because they make everything pop! I selected this dark blue paper from Paige Evans Horizon collection and added some Pixie Dust (Blingz) by using the packaging technique and splatters, focusing the mixed media slightly to the right side of the layout. Then I added the text paper (also from Paige Evan Horizon) and used the same techniques only with Caribbean Sunset. Afterwards, I tore an opening on the left side and back it with some of the text paper to add another cluster area.

I set my background aside and got to making my florals. I love fussy cutting flowers and then layering them unto a layout because they just add so much in terms of color, texture and dimension. For these I used 3 different stamp sets and black archival ink; 2 by Altenew and 1 by Maggie Holmes. For my yellow flowers, I colored some white cardstock with Lil’ Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Tuscan Sun (Spritz), Meet Me @ Sunset (Inklings), and Dandy Lion (Creameez). I made my blue butterflies by making brushstrokes of Boggie Boardin’ Blue (Creameez), Tickle Me Turquiose (Shimmerz), and Corney Flower Blue (Inklingz) on some light blue cardstock. I stamped some leaflets on some green cardstock that I colored with Green Goddess (Inklingz), Jilted Jade (Shimmerz), and Pinin’ For You (Creameez). Finally for my pink flowers, I used hot pink cardstock, stamped it with embossing ink, poured white embossing powder on top and then set it with my heat gun. Once everything was thoroughly dry, I went to town fussy-cutting.

Once my background and florals were dry and prepped, I backed my picture con some white cardstock and layered some patterned paper from Paige’s Horizon collection. I popped this paper cluster on some craft foam and placed slightly to the left of where the two patterned papers meet. Then I spent some time fiddling with the placement of the flowers and, once I was satisfied with the look, I began sticking everything down and popped certain embellishments and flowers on 3D tape. Mixed in a couple of florals, stickers, enamel hearts from the Horizon collection. Placed the chipboard title beneath my picture, added some sequins from Spiegel Mom Scraps (Freezin’ Season), and added a few splatters of Marigold (Shimmerz) to tie everything together.

I loved how this turned out!! If you liked any of the colors you saw me use, you can find them all @ www.shimmerzpaints.com.

Summer Treat - August Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all! Brianna here with a fun Summery layout using the August Edition Color Kitz!  This Kit is absolutely beautiful and is perfect to document your Summer moments!  They are $15.95 and here's what's included in it:

Shimmerz Exclusive Ice Cream Crazy Cut File
SpiegelMom Scraps Sprinkle Time Sequin Mix
1 oz bottle of Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz
1 oz bottle of Hermit the Frog Vibez
Pink Shimmerz
Sunkissed Inklingz

Here's my layout using the Kit!  Colors added from my stash: Vibez Sweet Heart and Shimmerz Baby's Breath

As soon as I saw the cut file, I knew I wanted to create a shaker with the popsicle.  I cut the cut file out on some white cardstock in my stash and added a transparency to create the window.  I added some foam tape on top of it, added the sequins and backed it with some vellum.  I love how it turned out and love how the sequin mix looks in the popsicle. So fun!

I painted each inside piece of the ice cream cones using the colors in the Kit.  The bright colors in this kit are so pretty and they really do look like ice cream!

For my background, I wanted to use the same colors that I used on my ice cream cones.  So I added gesso to another piece of plain white cardstock and applied each color separately on the page.  I sprayed some clean water to help the colors blend and move.

I added my title using some Thickers and some puffy alpha stickers and added some ephemera pieces around my page.

The colors really pop in this kit and they really compliment each other.  The original Shimmerz has so much shimmer and shine, I love that my ice cream cone is so sparkly!

I hope that I've inspired you today!  Check out the Color Kitz if you haven't had a chance to. They really are a great deal and it's so much fun to have all of the colors already picked out for you on top of the extras that you get in each Kit.  Thank you so much for stopping by and we will see you in the next one!

I "Heart" the June Shimmerz Kitz | Ericka Strange

Hello and happy Monday! Ericka here to share a card I made using the cut file from the new June Missy Whidden Color Kitz.  Have you seen this beautiful kit? I love these colors, but for today's card I had fun playing with the cut file designed by Paige Evans.  This kit includes the following:
  • NEW Spritz Hint of Mint
  • Spritz Chance of Rain
  • Shimmerz Pink Caviar
  • Inklingz Dear John Letter
PRICE:  $18.95

Here's the card I created just the cut file in the kit and some Vibez sprays.

I began by re-sizing the heart to fit an A2 card. I used some light watercolor paper and cut the heart out using my Silhouette.  Once the heart was cut, I removed the heart frame from the cutting mat and left the insides on the mat. I used some spray adhesive and adhered the frame to black cardstock. The next step was a little risky since I sprayed the Vibez directly on the paper pieces on the mat. (I think my mat is ok and I was able to wipe off most of the spray.) I used Vibez in Jeni B Bleu, Sweet Heart, and Hermit the Frog. Once it was dry, I used tweezers and liquid glue to place the pieces on the correct spot.

The process was pretty simple and I love the way the black increases the Vibez shimmer.

I used black cardstock and white embossing for this simple sentiment from Reverse Confetti and attached it with foam tape. I finished the card off with some clear sequins.

Mermaid Coffee | Ericka Strange

Happy Thursday, we've almost made it to Friday! Yeah!  I hope your week has been going well.  Ericka here, and I have a fun mermaid coffee card perfect for summer.

I love coffee and have been playing along with the Coffee Lovers Spring | Summer Blog Hop this month and so decided to combine my love of coffee and Shimmerz to make this card. Did you know Shimmerz Paints is a sponsor? Check out the Blog Hope here for your chance to win some great prizes.

I made the background using watercolor paper and spraying the Vibez in Mustard Seed, Hermit the Frog, and Jeni B Bleu. I added a little extra water to get them to blend into a beautiful background.  I then stamped my coffee cup and masked the edges so that I could add the mermaid. I used the same Vibez to watercolor the background of the cup and the mermaid, adding Vibez Sweet Heart for her tail and outfit.

I thought this mermaid would go perfectly with the Dotz Splish Splash set and added them to the card as fun embellishments. Aren't they adorable?

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! If you want to know more about the products I used feel free to stop over at my blog Strangely Creative.
