Hello Sunshine 12x12 Scrapbooking Layout

Hey all!  Nicole here with my layout using the April Color Kitz!  I'm making this page to document my sweet little kitty laying on my lap...I just love that!

The first thing that I did for this layout was pick the paper I wanted to use.  I went with this green paper with white flowers on it and the reverse side had this beautiful orange.  I placed that papers where I wanted on some 12x12 watercolor paper to see where to add my mixed media.  I used the Marigold and Lawn and Order Shimmerz pots to make the painted background.

When my paint was dry, I added my papers down as well as my picture.  I then started embellishing.  I remembered that there was a paper with black and white flowers so I decided to fussy cut some of the flowers for my embellishment clusters.

I then added one of the dotz and some of the die cut pieces to my layout, including my title, Hello Sunshine!  I finished off the layout by adding some sequins from my stash.

Thanks so much for popping on to read about my layout.  I hope it gives you an idea of how to use your kit and paints.  I also have a process video for this that you can watch here: Hello Sunshine Process Video

Until next time, Nicole Santos

Yay! | April Color Kitz | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm super excited to be creating a new layout using the April Color Kitz . I love the Color Kitz this month with all the bright cheery colors. I'm going a little outside my usual style with today's layout. It has a lot more color than I'm used to.

I started by dividing my layout into 4 quadrants. Then I pulled out some coordinating Distress Oxide inks to add a layer of color into each square. I used Fossilized Amber for the yellow. I used Picked Raspberry for the pink. For the blue I used BluePrint Sketch. I used Cracked Pistachio for the green.
Next I added a layer of paint over the inks. I used Mustard Seed-Vibez , Pip Pip Cherry-O , Born To Be Blue-Coloringz, and Giddy About Green -Inklingz. Then I cut the patterned papers into 4x4 inch squares and cut them in half diagonally. I layered those pieces onto black cardstock cut to 4 1/4x 4 1/4 squares cut diagonally. I used an edge distressing tool to distress the edges of all the pieces. I arranged the triangles around the layout in a pattern.
With the black cardstock layer added I wanted to bring more black onto the layout. I pulled Black Hole-Color Splash from my stash and made black splatters all over the page. For my embellishments I fussy cut some of the flowers from the patterned paper. I also fussy cut some elements from the coloring sheet. I added some puffy stickers for a title and created a journaling block.
I really like the way this layout turned out. I hope it's inspired you to create something beautiful with your kit. If you decide to place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website be sure to add my name (Melissa Minor) to the notes section of your order to receive a free gift. You can add my name to every order you place and each time you'll receive another free gift. If you'd like to watch my scrapbooking process I've linked the video below. I hope you have a great week!

Thanks,
Melissa Minor

Every Moment Matters Using the April Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with a fun page I made with the April Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting a selfie that I took all the way back in December!

I made this background during my unboxing video earlier this month.  You can watch that here: Unboxing the April Color Kitz Bundle

After I made the background, I cut some triangles out of 4 of the patterned papers to make this burst effect along with the paint.  I also matted my photo on the orange patterned paper from the kit.

I then added some embellishments from the kit to complete my page.  You can watch my process for this layout here: April Shimmerz Process Video

Thanks so much for coming on to read about my layout.  I hope it gives you some ideas on how to use your kit.  If you decide to grab anything from the Shimmerz shop, don't forget to add my name Nicole to the shopping cart notes to get a little freebie with your order!

Until next time, Nicole Santos

EASTER SMILES

Hello!! Jennifer here sharing this 11x8 1/2 layout using the new release of papers for April. I love all the colors and the fussy cutting sheet is so cute. The bunnies and chics are my favorite so I wanted to use them first.

I started the layout with a circle design in mind.  So I die cut my photo and two circles from the circle paper. The background was created on foundation paper by Vicki Boutin. I did gesso it just to keep it from from warping too much. It doesn't warping at all with gesso especially when it's foundation paper. I used a Shimmerz in Bumble Bee yellow. It matches the chic color perfectly.

I stenciled dots with a Tim Holtz stencil. This was done to highlight my photo. I then matted the photo on the same paper that I used for my background edge mat.

I tucked in flowers around the photo. Making sure all the colors were on the left and right side. The title piece smile and the two leave emblishments are from a thicker sheet. Sequins are from my stash.

Feel free to follow me on Instagram, I am ScrappinCain over there and try to post layouts daily.

Forever | Shimmerz Color Kitz April 2022

 Hello Shimmerz Fans,

Isn't the April Color Kitz just uber cute? I truly believe it's my most favorite kit to date; I've swooned over those gorgeous blues and purples, and that pop of green is really something! My layout, this time, is a mixed media overload so I've divided up the process into areas rather than documenting it in chronological order. If you would like to create along, you can grab the kit HERE and watch the process video HERE.

Here we go!

#1 - Base -

I began with a white sheet of textured cardstock and added It's A Boy and Colder Than Ice in brushstrokes on the right hand side of the base. To create that artsy look, I used a scraping tool to smoosh the two blues together.

#2 - Green Mat -

To balance out the blues and pick up on the green blouse that I was wearing in the pictures, I cut a scrap piece of cardstock to roughly 6x5. Then I punched 2 of the edges with a notebook punch, and sprayed and splashed Keep Palm on it.

#3 - Sequined Hearts

I had some leftover heart negatives from a cutfile I had previously used so I put them to good work by adding glue to them and then pouring the sequins (from the kit) on them. They will serve as embellishments.

#4 - Embellishments -

For the first time in a long while, I actually sat down at my desk and pre-planned my layout. I began to pull out random embellishments from Cocoa Vanilla Studios, Pebbles, Simple Stories, Vicki Boutin, Paige Evans, and American Crafts that fit the color scheme from the Color Kitz and the overall theme of my layout. I also picked out some lavender, periwinkle and white thread to add in.

Assembling my layout

Starting off with my base, I prepped it, I then layered in some of the of the ephemera and the green mat beneath my pictures (sized 4x4 and matted with patterned paper and craft foam for dimension). Afterwards, I added in all the embellishments, popped up the sequined hearts on craft foam and stuck on the Dotz from the Color Kitz. Finished the layout off by splattering some more of the gorgeous colors and writing in my journaling.

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today; I hope I've inspired you in some way to get your story documented. Be sure to use my name (LORIMAR) in the comments section of your next Shimmerz Order so you can receive a freebie!

April 2021 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!!  Brianna Lepper back with you today sharing a new layout using the oh so amazing and beautiful April 2021 Color Kitz.  This month, we get two new exclusive sprays!!  For $26.95 + shipping, here's what you get in this months kit:

It's Mint to Be Shimmerz
*NEW* Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz
Pixie Dust Blingz
*NEW* So Blue-ti-ful Spritz
1 exclusive layered process "Some Bunny Loves Youcut file created by Shimmerz Paints
1 set of Dotz
1 package of *EXCLUSIVE* Spiegelmom Scraps Sequins "Baby Stella"

Here's my layout, make sure to check out my process video at the end of this post:

I had so much fun with the kit this month!   The colors are beautiful and the two new sprays that we get are stunning!  To start, I cut the exclusive cut file out on a piece of white textured cardstock using my Silhouette.  I also offset and cut the backing pieces since I planned on adding lots of color to them.  In doing this, it made backing the cut file so much easier in the end!  I love backing cut files with mixed media, have you given it a try?

Next, I got to work on my background.  I prepped a piece of thick white cardstock with gesso and painted all of the colors from the kit right onto it.  When I started painting on the Blingz Pixie Dust, I made sure to scoop a lot of the paint onto my brush to make sure I had TONS of shimmer and shine.

Once my painted backing pieces were finished drying, I went ahead and backed my cut file.  Then using the SpiegelMom sequins that we get in the kit, I created shakers in all of the "O's" in the cut file.  I love making shakers in a cut file, it's so fun and this sequin mix is so cute!!

Next, I popped up the entire cut file on some foam tape and adhered it down to my background.  Then I took the Dotz from the kit and added some tangled thread underneath each one.  I love the texture and interest that it gives!

I embellished the rest of my page using the new Garden Party collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper.  Talk about the perfect match!!

Here's one more up close shot!

Thanks so much for stopping by today, I hope I've inspired you in some way!  When you place your next Shimmerz order, make sure to add my name to the notes/comments section of your order and you'll receive a small freebie!  See you in my next post!

While it dried, I went into my stash and selected embellishments in greens, blue, and yellows. Afterwards, I added some modeling paste using the rain drop stencil from the April Color Kit. Color Kitz April Collection | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all!  Brianna Lepper here and I'm back with another layout using this months Color Kitz!  The April Collection is so pretty and is so perfect to use to document your Spring photos!  For $30.95 + shipping here's what you'll get this month!

  • Something Like Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a blue watercolor with a grey undertone. Much like cloudy skies on a rainy day
  • Wave of Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a medium denim blue jeans water color
  • Cold as Ice Vibez
  • Chick-A-Dee Spritz
  • Don't Citron Me Coloringz
  • Limoncello Shimmerz
  • 1 exclusive Sweet Rainbow cut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 package of daisy buttons
  • 1 set of "Sunshine mixed with a Little Hurricane" Dotz
  • 1 set of Shimmerz Paints Stencil with dewdrops

Here's my layout for this month!

To get started, I prepped a piece of Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock with some white gesso.  I then applied the gorgeous new colors in the kit: Waves of Blue and Someone Like Blue Inklingz.  I also splattered and painted on the Cold As Ice Vibez.  I wanted some color peeking behind the cut file!  Once it was all dry, I took the Dewdrop stencil and applied some Tidy Widy Texturez through it right on top of the blue paints. I love all of the texture!

I then cut the cut file out on some white textured cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo 3.  As soon as it was done cutting, I knew I had to create little shakers in the hearts and that the cute Daisy Buttons from the kit needed to be added!

This cut file is very delicate, so I had to be very careful applying the thin foam tape around each heart and the Daisy Buttons are pretty thick, so I had to use 3 layers of the foam tape to make sure the Daisies and SpiegelMom Scraps sequins would be able to move and shake freely.  I went ahead and backed the rest of the rainbow in rainbow color order using a patterned paper from Paige Evans Bloom Street collection.

Since my layout was starting to come together with the Dewdrops and the Rainbow cut file, I knew I needed a Sun!  So, I took the Chick-a-Dee Spritz and Limoncello Shimmerz and applied both to some cardstock and did the same with the Don't Citron Me Coloringz since I wanted to create some leaves with it.  I traced the sun and fussy cut it out and tucked it behind the rainbow.

I pulled a few punches and punched out some leaves shapes from the sprayed green cardstock.  I fussy cut some floral pieces from another piece of patterned paper from Bloom Street and tucked the punched leaves here and there.

Next, I grabbed the You Are My Sunshine Dotz and adhered 2 down onto my page.  I added some tangled thread underneath each one to give it even more texture.

Look at all of those layers!

I then added a simple title and that finished off my layout!

Thank y'all so much for stopping by today!  I hope I've inspired you in some way! I truly enjoy working with the Color Kitz each month and hope that you'll tag me in the projects that you create with them!  When placing your next order, don't forget to add my name in the notes/comments section of your order and you'll receive a free gift!

Homegrown Rainbows | Colorful Spring layout w/ process video

Hello everyone!

Lori here, sharing a colorful spring-filled layout. I'm certainly ready for bursts of colors any time, especially in these uncertain times.

I began my layout with selecting a bright blue cardstock as my base. I then cut out the Rainbow Heart Cutfile (part of the April Color Kitz) on white textured cardstock and backed it with patterned paper in primary colors. For added texture, I hand-stitched a simple back stitch on the cut file with red, blue, yellow and green thread.

For an extra pop of color, I added some white acrylic paint (by way of the packaging technique and splatters) as a layer beneath where the cutfile was going to be. I then did the same with Hermit the Frog (Vibez), Bed of Roses (Spritz), Jenni B Bleu (Vibez) and Heidi Ho Blue (Coloringz).
Popped the cutfile on 3D craft foam, matted my pictures on white cardstock and placed them like you see in the pictures. I made my title using three different packs of Thickers. For the word "Rainbows", I colored the letters with the same aforementioned colors in addition to Pumpkin (Shimmerz) and Lil' Yellow School Bus (Coloringz).

Finished off the layout with some embellishments from a home-made stash-bursting kit I made for my April layouts, and added a few red sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps around each heart.

Splashed a bit of Mustard Seed (Vibez) and Freshly Squeezed (Coloringz) all around the layout to tie each thing together and finished off my layout. Added my journaling in black ink right beneath one fo my photos, and done!

I love how this turned out! Hope I've inspired you to embrace the sunshine and rainbows in your life, and to get your stories documented.

Need a bit of sunshine in your day? Check out the April Color Kitz, and remember, type "Lorimar" in the comments section to receive a freebie.

"Shine"

Shine, indeed! What a glorious page!
These colors are a match made in heaven - so stunning!!!

Here's a better look for you....

A really beautiful layout for my beautiful girl!
I started my layout with a really fun and messy resist technique using an 'un-cut' cut file & Cold As Ice Vibez, Chickadee Spritz & Don't Citron Me Coloringz.
(You can check it out in the video at the end of this post)

I then enhanced the geometric floral cut file with more intentional layers of paint with the two exclusive new colors: Inklingz Something Like Blue & Wave of Blue, as well as Shimmerz Limoncello. These colors are beyond words - so insanely gorgeous!!!
I applied two coats of these colors to really make them noticeable over the sprayed layers.

I mixed some of the Cold As Ice Vibez into a white embossing paste, & applied it to my cardstock using the Shimmerz Paints Stencil: With Dewdrops.
I love the soft texture and interest this added to my design - so pretty!
I also splattered Cold As Ice Vibes & Something Like Blue Inklingz around the perimeter of where my cut file would be positioned. Simple, but so effective!

I foam mounted my shimmery cut file to create dimension and interest, and layered it onto my pretty  dewdrop base. I combined a bunch of Pink Paislee: Paige Evans: Bloom Street embellishments with the Daisy Buttons to evoke more of the Spring vibes. Love it!

To complete the look, I added the You Are My Sunshine Dotz and a few of last month's kit, Shimmerz Paints Spotz. Voila!

See it all come together in my detailed process video HERE

Thanks so much for watching!
I hope you enjoyed my video & feel inspired to get creating!

Thanks so much,
til next time,

Happy Arty Days,
Amanda xo
