Good Vibes using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all!  Nicole here with my second layout using the fabulous August Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting some fun we had in Japan while playing the claw machines.

The first thing I did for this layout was to make the background.  I actually started with the wavy paper from the kit and cut 5" strips of waves.  I then lined them up on the left side of the paper and distressed them.  Then I used 4 of the 5 paints that we got in the kit to make bursting rays on the right side of the page.

Next I added my photos with some mats made with paper from the kit.  I also distressed these and popped them up on foam.

Lastly I added embellies from the kit, including: die cuts, stickers and a dotz.  I finished of with some journaling and then made some doodle hearts around my clusters.

Thanks so much for coming to read all about my layout!  I hope it gets you in a crafty mood.  If you are interested in grabbing the Color Kitz Bundle please use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes for a free gift with your order.  I also have a process video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/rDEE3C1Grqc

My Sweet Boy Using the July Color Kitz

Hey all!  Nicole here with another layout using the July Color Kitz!  Today I'm documenting my sweet dog, Rocky.  This was our last day with Rocky and it brings up such emotion, so I thought it would be nice to document with some bright cheerful colors.

The first thing I did for this layout was to make the background.  I used all the shimmerz and sprays to make this from the kit.

Next I paper pieced from the papers that came with the kit, trying to match the colors with the paints.

Finally I used elements from the kits to embellish!  I also added some buttons and sequins from my stash.  I added my title using a stamp and finished with journaling.

Thanks so much for stopping in to read about my layout!  You can grab the July Color Kitz in the shop and don't forget to use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes to grab a free gift with your order!  I also have a process for this page here: Shimmerz Process Video

Mermaid Vibes Beach Layout Using the June Color Kitz

Hey all, Nicole here with this fun mixed media, beachy layout using the June Color Kitz.  I started by making my background on a sheet of Foundations paper with 2 sprays from the kit.  I have a video for this that you can watch here: Beachy Background

I then distressed my pic and put it smack dab in the middle of the layout!  I used the die cuts that came with the kit for my title and lots of embellies throughout the layout!

I fussy cut some gold shells from one of the papers in the kit and added those, along with some stickers amongst the other embellies.  I also added the mermaid scales dot to the upper right of my photo.

I finished by adding little doodles, splatters, and sequins to my layout!  Thanks so much for popping in to read about my layout!  I had so much fun creating this one!  You can grab the June Color Kitz in the shop and don't forget to add my name Nicole to the shopping cart to grab a little freebie with your order!  You can also watch my process for this here: Mermaid Vibes Beach Layout

May Color Kitz | Mother's Day Layout | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm creating a Mother's Day layout using the May 2025 Color Kitz. I started my layout by using a tearing tool and tearing the yellow goose paper. I wanted to use this paper because it really reminded me of my boyfriend Dale's Mom. She has a paper mache goose in her house that she made. She's super crafty and has pointed out this goose to me many times. I mean this paper couldn't be any more perfect. The photos I'm documenting are of Dale's Mom Sandy and his Dad Albert. They are such a cute couple!

After I finished tearing my paper I added a strip of mixed media cardstock that I painted. I added both of the greens from the kit this month Olive Branch-Spritz and Arti-Choked-Vibez. Then I added a little yellow distress oxide ink and a layer of the brand new Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I made an oopsy when cutting my papers so I cut my page to 11x11 to cover my mistake. Then I matted onto a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock.

I then took several of the pieces of ephemera from the kit and layered around my page. I created three embellishment clusters. These clusters are in a triangle and really help draw your eye around the page. Some of the ephemera pieces I layered up using foam tape for extra dimension.

To finish the layout I used several of the sequins from the May Bonus Bundle. If you'd like to watch my layout come together I have a process video linked below. Remember when you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website add my name -Melissa Minor-to the notes section to receive a free gift.

Thanks friends! I'll be back next month to create with the June Color Kitz!

Hooray! Scrapbook Layout Using the May Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all! Nicole here with my second layout of the month using the May Color Kitz Bundle!  I am documenting a cute little s'more that I made with crochet, and when I say cute I mean so so cute!  I started this layout by making the background.  I used all the paints to make the squares making sure to mix two together for each one.

I then cut out different sized squares from the patterned papers that came with the kit.  I distressed them as well as the pic and put them on the background with foam tape.

I then used lots and lots of stickers from the sticker sheet in the kit.  I added them to the like colored blocks of paint with glue or foam tape!

I used a couple of pieces of the die cuts included in the kit, like the banner and the journaling card!

I finished my layout with some journaling and little heart doodles.

Thanks for popping in to read all about my layout.  I hope it gives you some ideas to use your Shimmerz products.  If you want to grab the May Color Kitz Bundle, don't forget to use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes so you get a little freebie.

Every Moment Matters Using the April Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with a fun page I made with the April Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting a selfie that I took all the way back in December!

I made this background during my unboxing video earlier this month.  You can watch that here: Unboxing the April Color Kitz Bundle

After I made the background, I cut some triangles out of 4 of the patterned papers to make this burst effect along with the paint.  I also matted my photo on the orange patterned paper from the kit.

I then added some embellishments from the kit to complete my page.  You can watch my process for this layout here: April Shimmerz Process Video

Thanks so much for coming on to read about my layout.  I hope it gives you some ideas on how to use your kit.  If you decide to grab anything from the Shimmerz shop, don't forget to add my name Nicole to the shopping cart notes to get a little freebie with your order!

Lucky Me | Melissa Minor | March 2025 Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cardsbymelissaminor here and I'm super excited to share a new layout with you. The March 2025 Color Kitz is one of my favorites! It's absolutely beautiful! I love all the bright colors. For my layout today I started by cutting apart one of the patterned papers into color strips. Then I distressed all the edges and cut down to 1x6 inch strips.

I adhered the cut strips onto the center of a 12x12 piece of white mixed media cardstock. Then I pulled out all the paints that came in the kit. I painted Freshly Minted Inklingz onto the top and bottom of the green strip. I painted Peaches & Cream Shimmerz onto the ends of the peach strip. The Don't Citron Me Coloringz I painted along the bright green strip. My favorite paint in the kit this month is the Pink Stilettos Coloringz. I painted it onto the top and bottom of the pink strip. I painted Stay Posy-tive Shimmerz onto the ends of the purple paper strips. I also brought in the Daffodil Creameez from the March bonus bundle and painted along the yellow strips.

I added 1/2 inch strips of the colorful patterned paper to the tops and bottom of the layout. Next to that I layered a 1/4 inch strip of specialty holographic paper. I love how it adds that extra shine to my page. I used an alphabet die from my stash to cut my title Lucky Me. I painted the letters with Don't Citron Me Coloringz. After all I am documenting photos of me and my boyfriend Dale from last St Patrick's Day.

I added some of the shamrock and horseshoe ephemera from the kit. I used the shamrock Dotz with some tangled thread behind it. I really like the way this page turned out.

Spring | Melissa Minor | March Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! I'm super excited to be sharing a new layout with you using the March 2025 Color Kitz. This kit is absolutely gorgeous! I started my layout by fussy cutting some of the floral images from the black & white patterned paper. I then painted up the images.

I used the Don't Citron Me -Coloringz to apply paint to the leaves. I then used Pink Stilettos - Coloringz, Freshly Minted - Inklingz, Stay Posy-tive -Shimmerz, and Daffodil - Creameez (Available in the bonus bundle) to paint the florals. I love the way these large florals turned out! If you haven't painted on the Shimmerz Paints papers you need to give it a try.

Next I started on the base of my page. I pulled out a piece of white 12x12 mixed media card stock. I applied modeling paste through a stencil and set aside to dry. My stenciling is very subtle but I think it adds a nice little detail. Then I applied some Dusty Concord purple Distress Oxide ink to the center of my page. I applied the beautiful Stay Posy-tive Shimmerz and Pink Stilettos Coloringz to the inked portion and kind of mixed the two colors spreading out from the center.

The photos I'm documenting today are of myself trying on Lululemon leggings. My boyfriend Dale bought me my very first pair. So fun!!!! I print all my pictures at home using the Epson Picture Mate 400. My photos are printed to 2.5x4.5. I enjoy printing at home and being able to choose the size photos I print. I used one of the pretty purple patterned papers included in the kit along the center of my page. I matted that paper in black and distressed all the edges.

I added some of the heart ephemera, the film strip, and my title Spring. I love the Dotz that come in the Color Kitz. The selfie dotz was perfect for my page since after all this is a selfie photo. I placed some tangled thread behind my dotz for some extra interest. I also added a few of the sequins that came in this month's bonus bundle. They are so pretty! I really like all the colors in them. I have a full tutorial over on YouTube.

XOXO | Melissa Minor | February Color Kitz

Hi Friends! Melissa Minor @cardsbymelissaminor here on the blog today. I'm creating a 12x12 scrapbook layout using the gorgeous February Color Kitz. I'm making a Valentine's layout, but I'm not using a photo from Valentine's day. Don't let the theme limit you with the photos that you scrapbook using a theme. The photo I'm scrapbooking today is a photo of my boyfriend Dale & I back from October. We were sitting outside near the pool in Florida. I just liked the photo of us and thought it would be perfect to use for an "I Love You" themed layout.

I started by using some mixed media cardstock. I pulled out a stencil from my stash and applied a thin layer of texture paste. Once that had dried I began applying the paints. OMG! The colors of paint in this kit this month are stunning! I used a variety of them.

Pretty In Pink-Coloringz Gladiola -Vibez First Blush-Inklingz 1 Hot Mama - Creameez Cardinal Sin-Color Splash Silver Bells-Shimmerz (Available in the bonus bundle)

Did you know the Color Kitz include a cut file? Although I didn't use the cut file included with the Color Kitz this still gives you an idea of how you can incorporate cut files into your design. I went into design space and found a scallop border and cut that out in black cardstock. The XOXO cut file I purchased online. I love the lips patterned paper the most of all the papers in the kit this month. I decided I would use that for both the X and the O.
Next it was time to embellish my layout. I love the ephemera that looks like a playing card with the sentiment "luckiest girl in the world". Since that was the largest piece of ephemera I adhered it down first. Then I started pulling out other images such as the balloons, hearts, and flowers and glued them down around the page. I finished the layout by using a few sequins that were from the bonus bundle.
I have a full process video over on YouTube. Reminder: add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your Shimmerz Paints order to receive a free paint! I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day full of LOVE!

Making Memories | Melissa Minor | January 2025 Color Kitz

Hello friends! Melissa Minor here on the blog today. I'm sharing a layout I made using the beautiful January 2025 Color Kitz. I first started with a piece of mixed media white cardstock cut to 11x11. I then outlined with a pencil where I wanted to paint. I applied Pink About It Inklingz all around the page. I backed my photos with the patterned paper from the kit. I matted the mixed media cardstock to a sheet of green cardstock from my stash. I really love all the paint colors in the kit this month!

Beach Glass-Vibez

The Holly & The Ivy-Inklingz

Buddy's Favorite Color-Shimmerz

Golden Wheat-Shimmerz

*Pink About It-Inklingz

Snow Joke-Twinklingz (Available in the bonus bundle)

Next I came in with a holly leaf stencil and Distress Oxide ink in the color Iced Spruce. I then added some pops of color for berries around the leaves. The puffy stickers in the kit are amazing and we get 2 sheets of them. I used every leaf sticker and added to the layout.
I used a few of the adorable ephemera pieces to make embellishment clusters. The photos I'm documenting are of my family at my boyfriend's work Christmas party. The girls made gingerbread houses and did some arts & crafts. The best part of the party was the magician coming to visit our table. The girls were throughly impressed with his tricks!

Merry Memories | Melissa Minor | December 2024 Color Kitz

Hello Shimmerz friends! Melissa Minor here and today I'm sharing a layout for the Shimmerz Paints Design Team. I'm using the beautiful December 2024 Color Kitz. The pictures I'm scrapbooking are some fun ones! I live in a small rural town in Missouri. Each year at Christmas time they hold a street stroll to bring business to the downtown shops. Well in 2022 the newspaper hosted a contest in conjunction to the street stroll. 32 businesses participated and each had a selfie station. If you visited all 32 stops and took a selfie you could enter the newspaper contest. This is a scrapbookers dream, right? Of course we took 32 selfies! The newspaper printed the photo I'm scrapbooking today of me and my boyfriend Dale. The little tab you see at my top of my layout is a pull tab to the actual newsprint clipping tucked behind the layout. I made a pocket to hold it. Watch my YouTube video linked below to see the entire layout come together.

I used several of the paints that came in the kit to create a mixed media background. I then took some modeling paste and used a snowflake stencil over the top of that to create some texture. The papers in this month's kit are my favorite. I had a hard time choosing which to use. I ended up choosing 4 of my favorites and cut the down to 3x4 and placed across the layout. I used some stamps from my stash and dipped them into the paints that I had sprayed onto my glass mat. I then used metal dies to cut out the images. To create the foilage I painted some mixed media carstock with the Fir Sure Shimmerz and used dies to cut them out. They are so shimmery. Gorgeous!

Here's a look at the pull tab I made on the back of the layout.

I love all the paint colors in the kit!

Angel Wings -Shimmerz

Pinking of You -Color Splash

Berry Hot -Creameez

Ruby-Spritz

*Fir Sure-Shimmerz (new color)

Hot Stuff-Inklingz (in the bonus bundle)

Fall Scrapbook Idea | Melissa Minor | November Color Kitz

Hello Crafty Friends! Melissa Minor @Cards By Melissa Minor here and I'm really excited to be sharing a fall layout for the Shimmerz Paints Design Team. I used the gorgeous November Color Kitz. The November kit has so many beautifully designed patterned papers and cute ephemera pieces. I had a hard time deciding which paper to use because they are all so pretty. I didn't want to cut into them. Do you do that too? Do you want to save the really pretty papers? I finally decided I would back my photos using the red dot paper. It's a beautiful fall red and I think it really made my photos pop.

I used every single paint that came in the kit on my layout. I started by painting a piece of watercolor paper with Punkin Pie-Vibez, Here I Yam-Shimmerz, and Red-y or Not-Coloringz. I splattered with a little bit of Gold Digger that I had in my stash. Then I used a foilage die and die cut lots of leaves. They are so shimmery and I think they look just like real leaves! I inked the edges of the leaves with Distress Oxide ink in the color Vintage Photo.

Next I began working on my base page. I started with a piece of 12x12 Mixed Media cardstock. I used a 12x12 screen view stencil and my paints to create a background. I used Witches Blue-Creameez for the majority of the stencil, then came in with Teal The End Of Time-Shimmerz around where my photos were going to be.

I love that the kit came with gold foiled alphabet stickers this month! They were perfect for creating my title. My title says Fall-Ing In Love. There weren't enough "L's" on the sticker sheet. So, I did a little sticker surgery on a couple of the capital "T's" and turned then into "L's". No one would ever know they didn't come that way!

I got brave and when I thought my layout was just about completed I decided to bring in the Christmas Cheer-Shimmerz from the bonus bundle. I painted a die cut circle and also added some of that beautiful yellow color around my photo. That yellow pulls out the yellow in my photo. I added a few of the ephemera pieces and used the bonus bundle sequins to finish up my layout. I really like how this page turned out. Don't wait too long to get your kit! I'm going to say this is my favorite kit so far this year. I have a process video below. The next time you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website add my name (Melissa Minor) to the comments section to receive a free paint! Thank you so much for stopping by.

Happy Crafting,
Melissa Minor
