Here Comes the Sun | July Color Kitz with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki @nikiclairecreates here with a new layout and process video using the July 2021 Color Kitz. The July Color Kitz consists of five colours of awesome Shimmerz Paints, an exclusive Here Comes the Sun cut file, a set of three Dotz and a pack of paper flower Embellishmentz.  The paint colours are: Frogget Me Not Vibez, Mandarin Mai Tai Coloringz, Caribbean Sunset Spritz, Green Olive Shimmerz and There She Rose Again Shimmerz. These colours are so perfect for Summer.

I loved the 60s hippie vibe of the Here Comes the Sun Cut file. I cut it multiple times. First I cut the letters from an orange cardstock, then I cut two backing pieces: one in white and one in a coral pink coloured cardstock. I painted the white one with the There She Rose Again Shimmerz paint and then layered the three pieces together. The coral backing I just used as a narrow shadow and the orange words I popped up on foam pads. What an awesome title!

I created the background using a sheet of white for the base. I cut a starburst design from yellow paper. I then cut smaller triangles out of a sheet of white Marshmallow cardstock. I then set about painting these to achieve a ombre sunset effect. I spritzed the middle section of each with Caribbean Sunset Spritz, then spritzed the outside edges with Mandarin Mai Tai and painted the point with There She Rose Again. I blended the colours with additional water where needed but they blended pretty well! I blasted them with my heat tool to dry them off and the effect was really stunning! It worked so well! I then layered these onto my yellow triangles.

I then cut smaller pink star print triangles to go on as another layer. I distressed the edges of all layers and stitched through them centrally with my sewing machine. I then stuck them all to the background and the result is a triple layered starburst – loads of hippie vibes there and it reminds me of tie-dying!

I positioned my cut file title in the middle of the starburst. I added my photos and then began to add a few embellishments. I used a few pieces of floral ephemera, a tag and some other ephemera pieces. Really there is SO much going on this layout that I needed to keep the embellishments to a minimum. I added two of the three Dotz: the green one with a flamingo, ad the yellow one that says ‘summer vibes’.

I painted the paper flowers using the two green paints from the Color Kitz. I began by spraying three of the with Frogget Me Not Vibez. The other three are painted with Green Olive Shimmerz. I also added some Green Olive Shimmerz details to the Frogget Me Not flowers too. The paper flowers took the paint so well. I added these either side of my photos. I also added a paper cocktail umbrella which I also painted with Green Olive so that it matched my layout!

I finished off with a few Spiegelmom Scraps sequins and some label stickers around my photos. Here's another look at the finished layout:

Thank you so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this crazy layout! Happy scrapping everyone. Don't forget if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, add my name to the comments to receive a freebie! Enjoy the video below.

Sunshine in my Pocket | June Color Kitz | Niki Rowland

Hi everyone, it's Niki (@nikiclairecreates) here with you today with a new layout using the June Color Kitz and a process video too. The Kitz comes with five Shimmerz Paints, a pack of exclusive Dotz, customizable die cut tags and an exclusive cut file: I’ve got that Sunshine in my Pocket which is super fun. The Shimmerz Paints colours are: Sapphire Spritz, Powder Puff Spritz, Elfin Magic Vibez, Strawberry Fields Creameez, Great Fruit Creameez. I love these colours so much, they totally remind me of summer!

I started with a sheet of Marshmallow cardstock for my background and then added the five colours of Shimmerz to the background in wide vertical stripes. I started with Sapphire on the right side. I used a wide paintbrush to get this effect but it wouldn’t fit in the bottle, so I poured some of the paint onto a craft sheet and picked it up from there. I did the same with Powder Puff, then Elfin Magic. For the two pink colours of Creameez, I added water to the pots, let them sit for a couple of minutes, then painted directly out of the pot. I left my background to dry then splattered all over it with white acrylic paint.

I then worked on the cut file. I just wanted the words ‘sunshine in my pocket’ so I trimmed the cut file so I just had the words I wanted. I backed the open words in a red patterned paper from Simple Stories Sunkissed. I then added the cut file title to my layout on the darker pink stripe. I raised it on foam pads for extra dimension.

I also painted the customizable die cut tags with the same colours and set those aside to dry.

I added my two photo to the layout and arranged the painted die cut tags in the same colour areas of the layout. I then carried on with this with the other embellishments I used. I used lots of word labels and I stuck those in the same orientation as the cut file title. I added the three exclusive Dotz to the layout, again in the colour blocking style.

I finished off with some sequins by Spiegelmom Scraps, a few more embellishments and my journaling which I wrote directly onto the painted tags! I really love how this one turned out. Here is another look at the finished layout:

Fun Right Here | May 2021 Color Kitz | Niki Rowland with Process Video

Hi everyone, this is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) here with you today with a new layout and video (see below) using the May 2021 Color Kitz. This kit is awesome! I adore the colours. The Kitz contains five colours of Shimmerz Paint: Rule of Plum Vibez, Sugar Plum Shimmerz, Lettuce Get Together Creameez, Daffodil Creameez and Meet Me @Sunset Inklingz. The Kitz also includes an exclusive cut file, a set of three Dotz and a pack of cute little paper flowers.

I started off with the cut file. I cut it three times in white card in three different sizes. I then cut backing pieces for each one from Marshmallow cardstock. I then painted these backing pieces with three colours: Rule of Plum Vibez, Sugar Plum Shimmerz, Lettuce Get Together Creameez. Once dry I attached the cut file on top of each backing piece using wet glue and I also stitched around them with my sewing machine.

I then created a yellow background on a piece of Marshmallow card. I began with the beautiful Daffodil Creameez paint. I activated it with water and let it sit for a while so I had lots of lovely right paint and then I used a wide paintbrush to paint a very large area of colour on the right side of my layout. When that had dried a bit, I applied Meet Me @ Sunset to the background too, mostly around the edges of the yellow area I had created already and then I also added splatters of this colour all over the yellow area. Because the Daffodil paint was already dry, the Meet Me @Sunset paint sat on top and looks beautifully shimmery.

I then set about putting together the rest of my layout. I added torn strips of paper at the top of the layout. I mounted my photo onto yellow and green paper and I added twine to my lightbulbs to make them look as though they were hanging down – they look so pretty!

I added fussy cut flowers to the lightbulbs, as well as gold acetate butterflies, chipboard flowers, gold padded hearts and other embellishments. To each cluster I also added the cute little paper flowers from the Kitz.

I added in all three Dots from this month’s kit, they are such perfect clours and coordinate beautifully with the paint colours. I added in a few acrylic Perspextives: ‘&’ frame to the left of the photo, two pretty swans and little yellow starbursts on the yellow painted area.

I finished off with some sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps (Jewel of the Nile) and some more splatters of Daffodil paint. Here's another look at the finished layout:

I think this layout turned out really pretty! I hope you have enjoyed it. Don’t forget if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, put my name in the comments to receive a freebie. Enjoy the process video below:

Some Bunny Loves You | Niki Rowland | April 2021 Color Kitz

Hi everyone, this is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) with a new layout and process video using the April 2021 Color Kitz.

I am absolutely in love with this kit, it has such beautiful colours. The kit contains five colours of Shimmerz paints:  Pixie Dust Blingz, It’s Mint to Be Shimmerz, So Blue-ti-ful Vibez, Taffy Hour Vibez and Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz. As well as these beautiful colours of paints, the Kitz contains a pack of three beautiful Dotz and a sequin mix by Spiegelmom Scraps called Baby Stella. In addition to these things there is also an exclusive cut file which is a title ‘some bunny loves you’.

I started by cutting the cut file from marshmallow card. I also cut the backfilled letters from lilac paper. I then painted the outline cut file with Pixie Dust Blingz. This is a very light coloured paint but it’s packed FULL of glitter and shimmer so it gave my white cut file a beautiful colour, sparkle and texture. I set that aside to dry while I worked on my background.

I began to make a background with the other colours from the April Kitz. I started by spraying Sweet Baby Girl all over the background. I also added Taffy Hour Vibez and So Blue-ti-ful Vibez. I applied these by spraying directly onto the background. I dried them with a heat tool and then applied It’s Mint to Be Shimmerz using the packaging technique and dripping large drips. I also added more Sweet Baby Girl. Once it was all dry I added splatters of all colours.

Once my cut file was dry I backed it with the lilac paper ready cut earlier. I arranged this title and my four photos onto my layout. My photos just weren’t working with the colours so I re-printed them in black and white and then they worked perfectly! That’s a great tip, if ever you have colours that clash, the printing photos in black and white almost always fixes that problem!

I stuck down all the elements, including some tags behind the photos and some bunny embellishments. I only added a few more embellishments: some labels, some chipboard pieces and a couple of Perspextives. I also added two of the Dotz that came with the April Color Kitz.

I finished off by scattering the beautiful Baby Stella Spiegelmom Scraps sequins all around the outside of my design and then added a few last splatters. Here's another look at the finished layout:

Hello Sunshine | March 2021 Color Kitz | Niki Rowland

Hi everyone, this is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) and today I have a new layout and video to share using the March 2021 Color Kitz which includes five colours of Shimmerz Paint: Pink Lemonade Vibez which is a brand new colour and fast becoming my new favourite, Goldie Lox Shimmeringz, French Twist Inklingz, Blue My Mind Inklingz and Gosh Garnet Inklingz. All the colours in this month's Color Kitz have a gold undertone and therefore they are BEAUTIFUL!

I'm also using the exclusive cut file that comes with the March Color Kitz: Hello Sunshine. I have back filled the letters with a woodgrain patterned paper.

I began with a sheet of Marshmallow card. I cut a large piece of Pinkfresh Studio Some Days paper and stuck that down the middle of the background. I painted the paper with clear gesso. I then began to apply the colours from the Color Kitz. Firstly I spritzed Goldie Lox Shimmeringz all over the page. This is a subtle spray but gives everything it lands on a gold sparkle - so yummy! I then set about applying Pink Lemonade, Gosh Garnet and French Twist in two areas: one on the middle left of the layout and one top right. The larger one is for where my photo will sit and the smaller one top right will be for an embellishment cluster. I added those three colours with the packaging technique and I also sprayed Pink Lemonade directly onto the layout. I also added splatters of those colours.

While the background was drying I then painted the word 'hello' of the cut file. I used Blue My Mind for this. I made due there was only a little water applied to this Inklingz because I wanted a really rich paint and it painted onto my word beautifully.

I then began to assemble my layout. I added my photo and lots of ephemera clusters from Pinkfresh Studio Some Days. I used flowers and lemons. I added chipboard circle frames behind my photo too. I added three Dotz from the March Color Kitz: one is light pink and says 'free' one is coral pink and says 'dream' and the final one is blue and gold with cute kisses on. I added these to my layout amongst the embellishments.

I then added some of the gold tinsel that came in the March Color Kitz. I added areas of went adhesive around the chipboard frames and around the Dotz in the top right corner of the layout and then sprinkled the tinsel on. It then stuck to the adhesive and I shook away the excess. The result is this beautiful bright gold glittery effect that I absolutely love!

I finished off my layout by adding Perspextives by Bramblefox: Cute Camera and hearts, and two different Spiegelmom Scraps sequins. I also added the cut file title raised on foam pads for extra depth and dimension and handwrote in my journaling.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I hope you have enjoyed this layout and video. Don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, enter my name in the comments to receive a freebie.

Happy scrapping
