Upsidedown with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hi there Shimmerz Fans, Niki here today with a layout I had so much fun creating. There is a process video for this layout too which can be viewed below.

I started off by putting beautiful stars all over my white background. I used Puttin' on the Glitz Dazzlers through one of the beautiful new Paige Evans Stencilz, 'Star Confetti'.

Once my stars were dry, I used three colours of Creameez and Inklingz to create the water colour strips. The colours I used are:
I used a wide paint brush to apply the paint. I added lots of water to make the paint colour run a little. Once dry I then added lots of splatters in the same colours.

When my background was dry, I then built the rest of the layout on top. I added various paper layers - trying not to cover up too much of my background! I also added some cute pom pom trim. I added my photo and lots of embellishments, mostly by Vicki Boutin Color Kaleidescope collection.

I then added my title. I used the Shimelle Sparkle City Thickers for See the World, but I stuck them first onto white cardstock. I then cut them out so there was a small white border around the words. I also added other Thickers for 'Upsidedown', which I actually placed upsidedown to mimic the subject of my photo! I doodled around some of the stars on the background and also around some of the paint splatters.

I hope you've enjoyed this layout today. There is a process video that you can view below.

Outdoor Adventures, with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey Shimmerz Fans, Niki here today with a new layout using Inklingz and Creameez. There is a process video that you can see below for this video.

I started off by painting wide coloured stripes onto a piece of white cardstock and then adding splatters in the same colour. My original plan was to use the wide stripes for my background but I didn't like the look of it, so I started again using the packaging technique and creating a water coloured area behind where the cut file camp fire was due to go.

The colours I used were:

Once I had aded my colours to the background using the packaging technique I then added splatters in the same colours. I dried it with a heat tool and then added my backfilled campfire on top. The cute campfire cut file is by Confessions of a Paper Addict Cut Files.

I mounted my photo and distressed the edges of the journaling card.  I cut up the wide stripes painted earlier and added a strip at the top and the bottom of the layout. I also added a piece behind my photo and another piece behind the journaling card on the right.

I added lots of ephemera and stickers from the Echo Park Summer Adventure collection and added a title using a mixture of an acrylic word and Thickers. I finished off with more spatters and sequins of course.

Here's another look at the finished layout.

Thanks so much for joining me today. You can view the process video below and don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, add my name in the comments section for a freebie. Happy scrapping xxx

Spring is in the air

Hi Everyone, it is Beck BT here and today I'm going all floral... why do you ask?  Because FINALLY Spring seems to have hit Melbourne!  Yes I'm so happy to say the weather is finally warming up a little even if we are having some extremes from one day to the next with the air conditioning in fine force one day to the heater being fired up the next!

So for my project today I created a sweet card using some Shimmerz Creameez in the main.

Shimmerz Products used-

Pocket and background:
Creameez - Firm Foundation
Creameez - Piggy Pink
Creameez - Trippin' in the Tropics

Flowers:
Creameez - Blue Lagoon
Creameez - Boogie Boardin Blue
Creameez - No One's Chrome
Shimmerz - Tickle Me Turquoise

For the pocket I first added the Creameez in layers to a canvas sheet and then die cut the pocket.  I love how this give a sweet material look to the pocket as though it was taken off a piece of clothing.

To create the sweet flowers I added layers of creameez again but this time to some cardstock.  I added the Inklingz as the last layer.  After drying off each layer at a time I die cut the flowers and then layered them finishing them with a metallic center.  Who needs to buy expensive flowers?  I love how I can make my own in the colors I desire so easily.

Adding some of the Piggy Pink Creameez to the background of the white cardstock base really softens the overall effect of the card.  Adding some splatters in the colours featured in the flowers really helps to tie them into the overall design of the card.

I hope you enjoyed my share today and found some inspiration.  I also hope the weather wherever in the world you are is being kind to your liking!

Don't forget to mention my name when you order for some free product!  WOOT!

Till next time

Water colouring with Shimmerz Auqa Hues

I am SO excited to be sharing with you my card today that I got to play with the new Aqua Hues!  OH MY GOODNESS are these divine!  I think what I adore most is that you can 'Choose your hues' yes you can purchase them in a pack which comes with a complimentary water brush and you get to choose the colours that go in there!

I am excitingly waiting more of my Aqua Hues to arrive as we split my package, but I did get to play with one of the colours to make this card.  I teamed it up with some Inklingz and also the new Color stakz.
Shimmerz Products used:
Aqua Huez Blue Moon
Inklingz Blue Lagoon
Inklingz Miner Miner 49er
Inklingz Can't Elope
Inklingz A Rose by any other name
Color Stakz Pick Pocket Stakz

I deliberately wanted to leave some white spots to give a fun hand water coloured look.   I created an ombre effect with the background to the center panel using the Blue Moon Aqua Huez.  I first masked the words with some masking fluid, painted the background and then removed the masking ready to be coloured with the Miner Miner 49er Inklingz
I set about coloring the flowers and other elements in the paper stakz piece

Finished off with a die cut base, some bling and twine makes this card really pop in the end

Thanks so much for heading over to the blog today to check out my project!  I hope I've inspired you and shown you how lovely a little Shimmerz Paints can easily create amazing cards!

Till next time

Mixed Media Butterfly Card with Beck BT

Hi Everyone, I've been at it creating another mixed media card for you to enjoy and hopefully be inspired.  This one was so much fun to create using divine Shimmerz paints to accent some beautiful stamping.

For my card today I used the follwoing Shimmerz products:

Shimmerz Inklingz - Blue Lagoon
Shimmerz Creameez - Trippin in the Tropics & Get Glowing
Shimmeringz - Tickle me Turquoise & Pink
Blingz- Gold Glimmer
Vibez - Egg Noggin
Texturez - Tidy Widy

The background was created with mixing layers of colour with the Shimmerz 'Trippin in the Tropics' & 'Get Glowing' Creameez followed by splattering some 'Get Glowing' Creameez as well.

For the sentiment I added Shimmeringz to some 2Crafty Chipboard words and dried with a heat gun for a little texture

Shimmerz Texturez in Tidy White was used for some textured stencilling in the background.  Be sure to do your background stamping first as it is always harder to do that over the top of texture.

Shimmerz 'Tickle me Turquoise' and Inklingz 'Blue Lagoon' look beautiful added to the stamped Indigoblu image along with Creamez 'Trippin in the Tropics' and Shimmeringz 'Pink'.

Accenting was created by adding some Creamez 'Get Glowing' to the butterfly as well.

Thanks so much for heading over to the blog today to check out my project!  I hope I've inspired you and shown you how lovely a little Shimmerz mixed media can be on your sweet cards.

Till next time

A bit of Shabby Chic fun! Video Tutorial!

Hi everyone!  Gabrielle here with you today to share with you another 8x10 canvas I made using a variety of Shimmerz products!  This time around I thought I would go for a Shabby-chic design.  For this project I used the following  Shimmerz products...

As always I thought it would be best to show you all my process by making a video tutorial that shows all the steps in creating this canvas.  I did make the actual corset embellishment that is the centerpiece of the project with some Martha Stewart air dry clay, it's easily made so I figured that you didn't need a tutorial on making the embellishment.  (BTW, I know that many of you asked for a video tutorial on how I made the Mermaids Tail in the last video I made for Shimmerz so I got that done over the weekend, you can find the video tutorial for the Mermaids Tail HERE.  So if you needed that extra little bit of help to make your own mermaid project just click on the link and you've got it :)   So here you go, enjoy! xo

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and will give some of these techniques a try....here are a few close-ups that you can view at your own pace...

I love the deep bronze shimmer the Brass Knuckles Inklingz, it really got me the look of a vintage mirror frame (Dusty Attic's Ornate Frame #3) that I was going for.

The soft pearly look of the Tutti-Frutti dazzlers gives the corset a lovely feminine shabby-chic look.

It's hard to see it in this photo but there are these beautiful shimmery bits of mica in the Sugar Plum Shimmerz paint that adds a subtle amount of glitter to the background design (you can see it better in the video).

I hope you enjoyed my tutorial and hope that you will give these wonderful products and fun techniques a try in your mixed media projects!  And don't forget to get your BONUS/Free Shimmerz product in your next order, just put my name "Gabrielle' into the INSTRUCTIONS FOR MERCHANT part of your order and your will receive a FREE Bottle of Shimmerz or Dimensionz or a sample size jar of Dazzlerz or Texturez in the color of your choice!  xo
