Oh my goodness! I absolutely love the July Color Kitz. The colors are so bright and remind me of all things summer. I started with a piece of 12x12 Mixed Media Foundation Cardstock. I pulled several paints from the kit to create a mixed media painted background. I used Sunny-Shimmerz, Orange You Glad-Coloringz, Lettuce Get Together-Creameez, and Evergreen-Shimmerz.
Next I torn the patterned paper that has the oranges, lemons, and limes design on it. I added this torn paper horizontally across the top and bottom of the page. Next I cut a half inch strip of the orange plaid paper. My layout design is fairly simple and came together very quickly.
I adhered the velum fruit ephemera to a piece of white cardstock and fussy cut them out. This gave the pieces a little more stability and allowed me to add some foam tape to the back of them. I backed my photos with various pieces of paper from the kit.
I embellished with a few of the tiny foam dot stickers. With that my layout is complete. Remember when you shop on the Shimmerz Paints website you can add my name "Melissa Minor" to the notes section and Shimmerz will send you a free paint.
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm creating a Mother's Day layout using the May 2025 Color Kitz. I started my layout by using a tearing tool and tearing the yellow goose paper. I wanted to use this paper because it really reminded me of my boyfriend Dale's Mom. She has a paper mache goose in her house that she made. She's super crafty and has pointed out this goose to me many times. I mean this paper couldn't be any more perfect. The photos I'm documenting are of Dale's Mom Sandy and his Dad Albert. They are such a cute couple!
After I finished tearing my paper I added a strip of mixed media cardstock that I painted. I added both of the greens from the kit this month Olive Branch-Spritz and Arti-Choked-Vibez. Then I added a little yellow distress oxide ink and a layer of the brand new Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I made an oopsy when cutting my papers so I cut my page to 11x11 to cover my mistake. Then I matted onto a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock.
I then took several of the pieces of ephemera from the kit and layered around my page. I created three embellishment clusters. These clusters are in a triangle and really help draw your eye around the page. Some of the ephemera pieces I layered up using foam tape for extra dimension.
To finish the layout I used several of the sequins from the May Bonus Bundle. If you'd like to watch my layout come together I have a process video linked below. Remember when you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website add my name -Melissa Minor-to the notes section to receive a free gift.
Thanks friends! I'll be back next month to create with the June Color Kitz!
Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to share a new layout with you. I used the beautiful May Color Kitz. Everything included in the kit is perfect for documenting Spring memories. I love the floral patterned paper included in the kit. I wanted to bring more attention to it. So, I decided to make some floral embellishments that matched the paper. I dug through my stash and pulled out an old Close to My Heart die set (this company is now closed). I painted a sheet of mixed media cardstock with the Bahama Mama Inklingz. I painted another sheet using Olive Branch Spritz. These are both available in the May 2025 Paint Kit. Then I used my dies and created flower embellishments. I added a little extra detail to the flowers by brushing a hint of orange with Punkin Pie. I think the floral embellishment clusters turned out gorgeous!
Next I started working on my layout. I used a cut file that I purchased from Scrapbook Generation/Allison Davis titled Triangle Pattern #2. A few of the triangles that I cut out I painted using Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I love the sparkle and shine that the Shimmerz Paints adds. Some of my triangles have the floral patterned paper and others have the Butter Believe It. I adhered this to my page behind 2 other strips of the patterned paper included in the Color Kitz.
I pulled out a few embellishments that matched the paper and adhered to the layout using foam tape. I also used a few of the sequins from the May 2025 Bonus Bundle. I have a full tutorial on YouTube linked below.
As a reminder, you can add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your order and Shimmerz will send you a free paint! You can add my name to every order you place and each time earn another free paint!
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm super excited to be creating a new layout using the April Color Kitz . I love the Color Kitz this month with all the bright cheery colors. I'm going a little outside my usual style with today's layout. It has a lot more color than I'm used to.
I started by dividing my layout into 4 quadrants. Then I pulled out some coordinating Distress Oxide inks to add a layer of color into each square. I used Fossilized Amber for the yellow. I used Picked Raspberry for the pink. For the blue I used BluePrint Sketch. I used Cracked Pistachio for the green.
Next I added a layer of paint over the inks. I used Mustard Seed-Vibez , Pip Pip Cherry-O , Born To Be Blue-Coloringz, and Giddy About Green -Inklingz. Then I cut the patterned papers into 4x4 inch squares and cut them in half diagonally. I layered those pieces onto black cardstock cut to 4 1/4x 4 1/4 squares cut diagonally. I used an edge distressing tool to distress the edges of all the pieces. I arranged the triangles around the layout in a pattern.
With the black cardstock layer added I wanted to bring more black onto the layout. I pulled Black Hole-Color Splash from my stash and made black splatters all over the page. For my embellishments I fussy cut some of the flowers from the patterned paper. I also fussy cut some elements from the coloring sheet. I added some puffy stickers for a title and created a journaling block.
I really like the way this layout turned out. I hope it's inspired you to create something beautiful with your kit. If you decide to place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website be sure to add my name (Melissa Minor) to the notes section of your order to receive a free gift. You can add my name to every order you place and each time you'll receive another free gift. If you'd like to watch my scrapbooking process I've linked the video below. I hope you have a great week!
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cardsbymelissaminor here and I'm super excited to share a new layout with you. The March 2025 Color Kitz is one of my favorites! It's absolutely beautiful! I love all the bright colors. For my layout today I started by cutting apart one of the patterned papers into color strips. Then I distressed all the edges and cut down to 1x6 inch strips.
I adhered the cut strips onto the center of a 12x12 piece of white mixed media cardstock. Then I pulled out all the paints that came in the kit. I painted Freshly Minted Inklingz onto the top and bottom of the green strip. I painted Peaches & Cream Shimmerz onto the ends of the peach strip. The Don't Citron Me Coloringz I painted along the bright green strip. My favorite paint in the kit this month is the Pink Stilettos Coloringz. I painted it onto the top and bottom of the pink strip. I painted Stay Posy-tive Shimmerz onto the ends of the purple paper strips. I also brought in the Daffodil Creameez from the March bonus bundle and painted along the yellow strips.
I added 1/2 inch strips of the colorful patterned paper to the tops and bottom of the layout. Next to that I layered a 1/4 inch strip of specialty holographic paper. I love how it adds that extra shine to my page. I used an alphabet die from my stash to cut my title Lucky Me. I painted the letters with Don't Citron Me Coloringz. After all I am documenting photos of me and my boyfriend Dale from last St Patrick's Day.
I added some of the shamrock and horseshoe ephemera from the kit. I used the shamrock Dotz with some tangled thread behind it. I really like the way this page turned out.
Don't forget! You can add my name Melissa Minor to the comments section of your Shimmerz Paints order to receive a FREE paint!
Hi crafty friends! I'm super excited to be sharing a new layout with you using the March 2025 Color Kitz. This kit is absolutely gorgeous! I started my layout by fussy cutting some of the floral images from the black & white patterned paper. I then painted up the images.
Next I started on the base of my page. I pulled out a piece of white 12x12 mixed media card stock. I applied modeling paste through a stencil and set aside to dry. My stenciling is very subtle but I think it adds a nice little detail. Then I applied some Dusty Concord purple Distress Oxide ink to the center of my page. I applied the beautiful Stay Posy-tive Shimmerz and Pink Stilettos Coloringz to the inked portion and kind of mixed the two colors spreading out from the center.
The photos I'm documenting today are of myself trying on Lululemon leggings. My boyfriend Dale bought me my very first pair. So fun!!!! I print all my pictures at home using the Epson Picture Mate 400. My photos are printed to 2.5x4.5. I enjoy printing at home and being able to choose the size photos I print. I used one of the pretty purple patterned papers included in the kit along the center of my page. I matted that paper in black and distressed all the edges.
I added some of the heart ephemera, the film strip, and my title Spring. I love the Dotz that come in the Color Kitz. The selfie dotz was perfect for my page since after all this is a selfie photo. I placed some tangled thread behind my dotz for some extra interest. I also added a few of the sequins that came in this month's bonus bundle. They are so pretty! I really like all the colors in them. I have a full tutorial over on YouTube.
Don't forget to add my name to your Shimmerz Paints order to receive a free paint!
Hi Friends! Melissa Minor @cardsbymelissaminor here on the blog today. I'm creating a 12x12 scrapbook layout using the gorgeous February Color Kitz. I'm making a Valentine's layout, but I'm not using a photo from Valentine's day. Don't let the theme limit you with the photos that you scrapbook using a theme. The photo I'm scrapbooking today is a photo of my boyfriend Dale & I back from October. We were sitting outside near the pool in Florida. I just liked the photo of us and thought it would be perfect to use for an "I Love You" themed layout.
I started by using some mixed media cardstock. I pulled out a stencil from my stash and applied a thin layer of texture paste. Once that had dried I began applying the paints. OMG! The colors of paint in this kit this month are stunning! I used a variety of them.
Pretty In Pink-Coloringz
Gladiola -Vibez
First Blush-Inklingz
1 Hot Mama - Creameez
Cardinal Sin-Color Splash
Silver Bells-Shimmerz (Available in the bonus bundle)
Did you know the Color Kitz include a cut file? Although I didn't use the cut file included with the Color Kitz this still gives you an idea of how you can incorporate cut files into your design. I went into design space and found a scallop border and cut that out in black cardstock. The XOXO cut file I purchased online. I love the lips patterned paper the most of all the papers in the kit this month. I decided I would use that for both the X and the O.
Next it was time to embellish my layout. I love the ephemera that looks like a playing card with the sentiment "luckiest girl in the world". Since that was the largest piece of ephemera I adhered it down first. Then I started pulling out other images such as the balloons, hearts, and flowers and glued them down around the page. I finished the layout by using a few sequins that were from the bonus bundle.
I have a full process video over on YouTube. Reminder: add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your Shimmerz Paints order to receive a free paint! I hope you all have a wonderful Valentine's Day full of LOVE!
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @Cards By Melissa Minor here and today I'm sharing a layout with you using the November Color Kitz. This is my favorite kit Shimmerz has released this year. Every paper is gorgeous! The paint colors match all the papers so well. Fall is my jam!
When I started my layout I didn't have a clear idea of where I was going with it. So, I started by choosing a few papers that I really liked that coordinated well together. I also chose 2 of the paint colors, some ephemera pieces, and other embellishments I knew I wanted to use. I then fussy cut the images on one of the patterned papers. I had a hard time cutting up the paper because I love it so much! The images in the picture below are the ones I fussy cut! BEAUTIFUL!
Next I started cutting circles using my old Creative Memories circle cutting system. I haven't used it in forever but it was perfect for cutting lot of circles in different sizws. I then began arranging the circles onto my background paper. Oh! I forgot to mention, I used clear gesso on the background paper so that I could paint on it later.
Once I had all my circles arranged I added some foam to the back of my photos and adhered to the page. I pulled out the Shimmerz paints from the kit: Teal The End Of Time & Here I Yam . I added a little paint around each of the circles. It's so pretty and shimmery! I used a couple dots from the kit and added a little tangled thread behind them. I finished my layout by adding an acrylic title from my stash and some sequins from the bonus bundle.
Hello Crafty Friends! Melissa Minor @Cards By Melissa Minor here and I'm really excited to be sharing a fall layout for the Shimmerz Paints Design Team. I used the gorgeous November Color Kitz. The November kit has so many beautifully designed patterned papers and cute ephemera pieces. I had a hard time deciding which paper to use because they are all so pretty. I didn't want to cut into them. Do you do that too? Do you want to save the really pretty papers? I finally decided I would back my photos using the red dot paper. It's a beautiful fall red and I think it really made my photos pop.
I used every single paint that came in the kit on my layout. I started by painting a piece of watercolor paper with Punkin Pie-Vibez, Here I Yam-Shimmerz, and Red-y or Not-Coloringz. I splattered with a little bit of Gold Digger that I had in my stash. Then I used a foilage die and die cut lots of leaves. They are so shimmery and I think they look just like real leaves! I inked the edges of the leaves with Distress Oxide ink in the color Vintage Photo.
Next I began working on my base page. I started with a piece of 12x12 Mixed Media cardstock. I used a 12x12 screen view stencil and my paints to create a background. I used Witches Blue-Creameez for the majority of the stencil, then came in with Teal The End Of Time-Shimmerz around where my photos were going to be.
I love that the kit came with gold foiled alphabet stickers this month! They were perfect for creating my title. My title says Fall-Ing In Love. There weren't enough "L's" on the sticker sheet. So, I did a little sticker surgery on a couple of the capital "T's" and turned then into "L's". No one would ever know they didn't come that way!
I got brave and when I thought my layout was just about completed I decided to bring in the Christmas Cheer-Shimmerz from the bonus bundle. I painted a die cut circle and also added some of that beautiful yellow color around my photo. That yellow pulls out the yellow in my photo. I added a few of the ephemera pieces and used the bonus bundle sequins to finish up my layout. I really like how this page turned out. Don't wait too long to get your kit! I'm going to say this is my favorite kit so far this year. I have a process video below. The next time you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website add my name (Melissa Minor) to the comments section to receive a free paint! Thank you so much for stopping by.
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm super excited to be sharing a scrapbook layout with you using the September 2024 Color Kitz. I created today's layout to celebrate my two year dating anniversary with my boyfriend Dale. We started dating back in September 2022. 💖 This is my favorite picture of us. I've been waiting for just the right papers to scrap it. The Color Kitz this month is it! I knew right away I wanted to use the beautiful cut file that came in the kit. I printed it on black cardstock. I backed the cut file with various patterned papers from the Color Kitz. I think this cut file is the star of my page. It's absolutely gorgeous!
I wanted the cut file to really pop. So, I applied Shimmerz-Limoncello from the kit and Vibez-Mustard Seed behind the flower. I thought the yellow color behind the flower looked like sunshine peeking through. For my title I used a stamp/die from my stash. I die cut the words "I Love". Then I stamped a couple sentiments and backed them with the pink patterned paper. I distressed the edges of all the papers.
Next it was time to embellish my layout. I used the pre-cut flowers from the ephemera pack. I did trim off the white edges with my scissors. I thought the flowers needed some leaves. I took out a sheet of mixed media cardstock and painted the whole sheet with the Vibez-Moss-Terious Green. I used some dies and cut leaves from that sheet. I love how shimmery the leaves look. They are so pretty and just what the page needed. I added the heart dotz and some yellow pearls to finish today's layout. I like how the yellow in the dotz and the yellow in the pearls draws the yellow painting out.
The September Color Kitz is stunning. If you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website be sure to leave my name in the comments sections to receive a free gift. You can add my name to every order you place. I think today's layout is my absolute favorite page in my album. You can watch the whole process in the linked video below. I hope this has given you some inspiration for the Color Kitz this month! Have a great week!
Happy Crafting,
Melissa Minor (aka Cards By Melissa Minor)
I also have an unboxing video if you'd like to see the full September Color Kitz here.
Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm super excited to be sharing another layout with you. I'm using the August 2024 Color Kitz. I love the patterned paper with the fish on it. I knew immediately I wanted to use that paper and make some additional waves. The pictures I'm documenting today are of my daughter Taitym. A couple years ago we went to visit my mom in Florida. While there Taitym drove us on the golf cart to dinner at Roland Martin's Tiki Bar. You can see in one of the pictures her in the photo stand and it looks like she's holding a big fish.
I started my layout with a sheet of white 12x12 cardstock. I covered that sheet in Distress Oxide ink-Peacock Feathers. Next I sprayed some water onto the cardstock so that it would leave some water marks. Then I took a sheet of watercolor cardstock and painted it with Vibez-Love Ocean #9. I cut that piece into 1 1/2 x12 inch strips. After than I started tearing the strips pulling towards me to reveal the white core.
I layered the torn strips onto my inked background. I added a strip of the fish patterned paper from the kit to the center. I love the way the waves turned out on the page. I then added some splatters of Color Splash-Whites of Their Eyes. That was just what the page needed to make it pop.
I turned to my cricut to cut a title. I used a cutfile titled Catch of the Day. I backed the cutfile with the tangerine paper with the suns on it. Next I added my three photos. I kept my embellishment clusters very simple. I pulled a tag, a couple fish, and a couple seashells from the pre-cut ephemera pack.
I finished my layout by adding a few clear gems. If you decide to place an order with Shimmerz Paints please leave my name -Melissa Minor- in the **Add a note to your order ** section. When doing so you will receive a free gift with your order. I have a full process video linked below. I hope my layout has given you some inspiration to create. We'll chat again next week! Thanks!
Hello crafty friends! I am super excited to be sharing my first layout with the August 2024 Color Kitz! This kit gives me all the tropical vibes. I immediately was drawn to the watermelon papers and I knew I had the perfect photos to document. My boyfriend Dale and I had just went to a Watermelon Eating competition in St. Charles, MO a few weeks ago. It was interesting to watch and a fun adventure to scrapbook.
I started by turning to my cricut and cutting out a large watermelon shape from the green striped paper. It totally looks like the outside of a real watermelon. I then layered the watermelon paper that has the seeds on the left half of that piece. After that it was time to start painting. I started by outlining my watermelon shape with a pencil onto my white mixed media cardstock so I knew where to apply my paint. I used the packaging technique to apply the Shimmerz-Jilted Jade around my pencil lines, then added a few splatters.
While I had the Jilted Jade Shimmerz out I applied the color to some vines that I had also cut from my cricut. I love the shimmery look on these vines. Next I pulled out the Trippin In the Tropics-Creameez. I applied that in three intentional places around my watermelon. I wanted it to look like watermelon juices gushing out. I think I managed to pull that off perfectly.
Still using the Trippin In the Tropics-Creameez I applied the paint to my title. I wanted the words to look like they had seeds so I also applied some Shimmerz-Coal from my stash.
I know that watermelon vines have little flowers on them. So I fussy cut some of the little yellow and white flower from the patterned paper. I finished the layout by adding some pearls to the center of the flowers and some little gems around the page. I love the way this layout turned out! I have all the details in the full process video below. When you place your next order add my name, Melissa Minor, to the place where it says add a note to your order on the Your Cart page to receive a free gift. I'm looking forward to sharing many more layouts with all of you. Hope you have a wonderful day!
I used the Mother of Pearl Foilz to create three separate flower sections in a visual triangle on my gessoed paper.
I then painted each of the three sections with the colors from the April Color Kitz. After the first layer dried, I applied a second layer for a higher level of color.
After the second layer dried, I added splatters in the corresponding colors.
I cut the exclusive cut file from pink cardstock, and added shine with the Pixie Dust Blingz.
I embellished with the bunny Dotz, and sprinkled the adorable Baby Stella sequins around in multi-faceted clusters. The adorable pink bunny sequins are so unique!
Grab you own April Color Kitz in the store before they sell out.
Mention my name, Natalie, for an additional item next time you purchase!
