Outdoor Adventures, with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey Shimmerz Fans, Niki here today with a new layout using Inklingz and Creameez. There is a process video that you can see below for this video.

I started off by painting wide coloured stripes onto a piece of white cardstock and then adding splatters in the same colour. My original plan was to use the wide stripes for my background but I didn't like the look of it, so I started again using the packaging technique and creating a water coloured area behind where the cut file camp fire was due to go.

The colours I used were:

Once I had aded my colours to the background using the packaging technique I then added splatters in the same colours. I dried it with a heat tool and then added my backfilled campfire on top. The cute campfire cut file is by Confessions of a Paper Addict Cut Files.

I mounted my photo and distressed the edges of the journaling card.  I cut up the wide stripes painted earlier and added a strip at the top and the bottom of the layout. I also added a piece behind my photo and another piece behind the journaling card on the right.

I added lots of ephemera and stickers from the Echo Park Summer Adventure collection and added a title using a mixture of an acrylic word and Thickers. I finished off with more spatters and sequins of course.

Here's another look at the finished layout.

Thanks so much for joining me today. You can view the process video below and don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, add my name in the comments section for a freebie. Happy scrapping xxx

Mr Frog, a painting with Karine

My dear crafty friends,

I'm here today to share my froggy creation. This will be my last share for this team, as I'm stepping down. I've been a member of this team for more than two and a half years now, and I learned a lot. I'd like to thank Stacey and Samantha for their generosity, their trust and their support. The Shimmerz Paints family will always have a warm place in my heart.

For this "grande finale", I created a painting for my niece. It's a 3' x 4' wood panel that goes in her room to hide the electrical box.

To color the frog, I used a lot of Shimmerz Paints products.

The green is made with the new Jolly Green Giant Creameez, a touch of I'm not Limon Inklingz and Peas Be Mine AcriTonez.

For the red eyes, I didn't have any red watercolor, so I used My Bleeding Heart and Scarlet's Fever Coloringz, along with Shimmerz Tar, Tar AcriTonez. I also used a little bit of 3 Sheets to the Wind AcriTonez for highlights.

For the frog's body, I used mostly Shimmerz Tar, Tar and My Bleeding Heart AcriTonez, diluted with lots of water. I used a touch of I'm not Limon Inklingz.

To make some shadows, I mixed the black Shimmerz Tar, Tar AcriTonez with In the Navy AcriTonez.

For the orange portions, I used My Clementine Creameez with Freshly Squeezed Coloringz. I added some Shimmerz Tar, Tar AcriTonez to make some shadows.

To make some dimension on the frog's skin, I used some paste. I used some Salt of the Earth Paste-Eez and I planed to use some Jelly Bean Green Dazzelerz, but when I reached for it, I discovered that the lid on my jar wasn't properly closed, so my paste dried! I needed something, so I mixed some Tidy Widy Texturez with Jolly Green Giant Creameez. It gave me the perfect green color textured paste.

I made some splatters with the colors I used to paint the frog. I added some Jiven Jade AcriTonez near the arm of the frog, diluted with water, and to make some more splatters.

Finally, I embellished with moss and flowers.

Shimmerz Paints products used:
My Bleeding Heart, Freshly Squeezed and Scarlet's Fever Coloringz
3 Sheets to the Wind, Peas Be Mine, Shimmerz Tar, Tar, In the Navy and Jiven Jade AcriTonez
Salt of the Earth Paste-Eez
Tidy Widy Texturez
Jolly Green Giant and My Clementine Creameez
I'm not Limon Inklingz

I really hope you like it.
Thanks again Stacey and Samantha for your trust and for all those wonderful years in the Shimmerz Paints family.

Karine
xx

Live a Colorful Life Art Journal Page | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a fun Art Journal Page. For this page,  I just wanted to play with pretty spring colors. I wasn't sure exactly how this would turn out but I love how it did.  I was inspired by a chipboard word from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free Collection. I pulled out colors that would match this collection. I am working in my Daler-Rowney Mixed Media Travelbook.

I began with a small experiment which didn't really work out too well. LOL. I used some gloss medium which I had put into a fineline bottle and added some clusters of dots on my page above my chipboard word. My thought was that it would act as a resist when I used the watercolors over it. In the end it didn't shown up too well. Next time I'll have to add bigger dots.

I started layering my colors directly on my page. I used several  Creameez and one Coloringz. I began with the Coloringz in No Yoking and added color using the packaging technique and spread it out using my paint brush. Then I added my Creameez which  have a pretty touch of Shimmer to them. I used Boogie Boardin Blue, Refresh Mint, Lettuce Get Together, Tripping' in the Tropics, Great Fruit, My Clementine, and Cheeky Pink. I made sure to spread the colors out as evenly as I could throughout my spread. I added in some small flowers which I had fussy cut from a Patterned paper from the Fancy Free  collection.
I used the new Acritonez in 3 Sheets to the wind and added some white dots throughout  as well as some black splatters. I added my Colorful chipboard word and some scallop half circles which I had used on a previous project. To add some additional detail, I added faux stitching around the Colorful word and the half circles. I also used a circle stencil and traced some small circles in black pen. I added a few Tim Holts tiny word stickers and I finished it off with a messy double line around the whole page. I love how it turned out.
There is a video on my channel if you'd like to watch:

Products Used:

Creameez: Boogie Boardin Blue, Refresh Mint, Lettuce Get Together, Tripping' in the Tropics, Great Fruit, My Clementine, Cheeky Pink

Loveliness Layout | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here, Today I created a fun floral watercolor background for my layout.

I began with an old Teresa Collins stamp set. I chose a simple flower and continuously stamped the image using Versa Mark Ink. I focused my stamping on two opposite corners of my white 12x12 sheet of paper. I then heat embossed using white embossing powder.

I colored the centers of the flowers using Aqua Huez Pot-O-Gold and used a watercolor brush to color the flowers using a mix of beautiful colors including Creameez in My Clementine, Great Fruit and Trippin in the Tropics. I used the original Shimmerz Paints in Magenta and Jilted Jade for the leaves and Inklingz in Precious Posey and Bahama Mama. No coloring inside the lines here, I just colored over the grouping of flowers.

I love the mix of the shimmery and non shimmery paints. I added a few splatters with some of the colors as I painted. Lastly, I added some shading with Aqua Huez Gray Matter where the mix of colors met the white cardstock.

I am using a photo of my adorable niece. I printed it in black and white. I added a few florals which I cut out on my Silhouette Cameo. I decided to leave them white. I love the simple texture they added. I embellished using lovely die cuts from the Cocoa Vanilla Love Always collection. My tittle is a silver glitter foam word from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity Collection.
I love how this turned out!

Real Sweet Layout | Katty Miranda

Hello everyone! Katty here, I am beyond excited to share my very first post here as a part of the amazing Shimmerz Paints Design Team. I am loving the new products we just released. Today, I will be working with the Acritonez, these are the self priming Acrylic Paints. These paints are very versatile. I am using white cardstock as the base of my layout. I used my Silhouette Cameo and cut out two flower sets from the Silhouette Studio that were meant to be layered on top of each other.

I began by painting all of the flower pieces individually. I began with the Acritonez in the color Pink-a-delic. I used the color in several different ways, in it's true form, as an acrylic paint. I also mixed in some water, which slightly lightened the color. I even mixed in some other Shimmerz products like the Spritz in Ruby which darkened the color. I wanted a lot of different shades of pinks and corals to create a big cluster of flowers. I used some of the flowers as a stencil in a few areas within the cluster.

I also used a few other colors, Spritz in Cotton Candy and Caribbean Sunset, a Vibez in Sweet Heart and a Creameez in My Clementine. For the leaves I used the new Acritonez in Jivin' Jade and a leaf cut file also from the Silhouette Studio. I used the leaves as a stencil as well as the leaf cutfile itself.

I used three photos of my adorable niece from this past Halloween. I printed them in a smaller size and used a scallop punch to give them a fun shape. I lined them up above my cluster of flowers and added dimensional foam behind them.

For my tittle I used silver glitter foam word thickers from the Pinkfresh Studio Felicity Collection. I added a few stickers from an Elle's Studio sticker sheet and I used a Heidi Swapp pink and white diagonal stripe patterned paper to mat the whole layout. I love how it turned out.
There is a process video on my YouTube channel if you'd like to watch.

A Watercolor Santa, with Karine

Hi,

I'm here today to share my last creation for Shimmerz Paints for 2016. As Christmas is near, I wanted to make something Christmassy, but I didn't want to do a layout, so I went for a little ornament that made its way on my mantle this year.

I drew the Santa following an image I've pinned on Pinterest. I'm sorry, I can't find the link. I would love to give the credit to the person who drew this cute Santa first.

For his clothes, I used Red Hot Aqua Huez and Tidy Widy Texturez. For his skin, I used Tan Yer Hide Aqua Huez and My Clementine Creameez. I also added a bit of Piglet Aqua Huez on his cheeks. His beird, hair and moustache, I shaded with No One's Chrome Inklingz and Thunder Storm Creameez.

The belt, I colored with Inter-BLACK-Tic Aqua Huez. For the buckle, I used Sheer Bliss Inklingz. His little stuffed deer, I painted with Don't Be Suede Coloringz and a bit of Tan Yer Hide Aqua Huez.

I used Ride the Tide Creameez around Santa, and Green Acres Creameez under his feet.

I hope you like it.
