Under the Sea Fun with Gabrielle!

Hi All, It's Gabrielle here with you today to share with you my latest mixed media canvas using some new Shimmerz products that I am totally in LOVE with!  Have you tried the newest reformulated Shimmerz Paint pots?

These newest selection of Shimmerz paints are so incredibly shimmery and pigmented!!  You get crazy rich color....I picked up all the colors and just love them!  I also picked up the newest colors in the Shimmerz Spritz....for this project I used the 'See Ya Latte' Spritz and 'Walkin' a tight Heliotrope' Spritz (the Cold as Ice Vibez I already had in my stash).

For this project I made a whimsical octopus out of Sculpey baking clay (step by step shown in the video)....and I used some Dusty Attic chipboard to bring the design together. So grab yourself your favorite beverage, sit back and enjoy!.....

I hope you all enjoyed my video tutorial and picked up some tips in creating your own Under the Sea canvas.  Remember I'm always happy to answer any questions and love to hear your feedback on the project!  Here are a few close-ups of the project that you can enjoy at your leisure....

I used seed beads (Prima - Licorice) to blend the octopus legs into the background design of the canvas.  The design was meant to be whimsical so you only see part of  the octopus moving onto the canvas (I know of course, an octopus has 8 legs, lol!)

I always like to use a variety of Dusty Attic chipboard to help create my little vignettes on my canvases, I feel like they help tell the story.  Before I applied my chipboard frame I added some aqua and turquoise sequins to add extra shimmer and sparkle to the project.

Another thing I always try to remember when creating a canvas is that this project will be viewed from many angles, so you want to make sure that you cover all areas of your project with color.

And finally here is a top view of the project.  I hope you enjoyed watching my tutorial and learning about how this project came together.  I always love to hear your comments and feedback.  Thanks for popping in today!

If you would like to order the paints and sprays used in this project, you can find them all at the Shimmers Paints Store  NOTE: Be sure to mention my name to get your FREE/Bonus Shimmerz Paints Product (in the color of your choice) in your next order!

Creating Drama (the good kind) with Gabrielle!

So I printed off this dramatic gorgeous gown photo over a year ago (an image I got off of Pinterest) and had meant to do a page with rich colors and textures for quite some time now.  Finally got around to doing it (as I still had so much family pics to scrap!).  Sometimes it's fun to do a page 'just because', know what I mean?

These are the Shimmerz Paints products I used for this project....as you will see in the video tutorial, each of these products has it's own unique quality whether it be the smooth thick texture of the Dazzlerz, the deep rich tones in the Coloringz and Vibez or the incredible shimmer of the Inklingz.
NOTE:  You can purchase your Shimmerz Paints HERE.  Be sure to mention my name "Gabrielle" in the Instructions to Merchant part of your order to get your FREE/Bonus Shimmerz paint product in the color of your choice with your next Shimmerz Paints order!

As always, a project is not complete for me unless I have a nice selection of Dusty Attic Chipboard in them.  Above are the Dusty Attic Chipboard pieces I used for my project:  Ornamental Trim Set (brand new product), Word Pack #14, Lacey Heart Frame Set.....and I used a NEW Dusty Attic Stencil design called Fans.

So it's time to give yourself a little break, grab your favourite beverage and hope you enjoy watching my little video tutorial on how to make this page....Enjoy!

Hope you had fun watching my tutorial. Here are a few close-ups you can view at your leisure....

I should note that after I filmed my tutorial, I felt my design needed a little more color in the bottom right section so I added a couple more spritzes of paint and some swirls of fibre threads (from a package I got from my local dollar store).

I've had these Prima jewelled leaves sitting in my stash forever! When I was choosing my embellishing products I totally had to use these as I thought they were a good match for the colors I was using in the layout!

I'm really loving the new stencil designs from Dusty Attic, in the top right corner you can see some of the texture and design I got onto the page using the Fan stencil from Dusty Attic with my Homemade Texture Paste and some Shimmerz Paints sprays and Inkingz.

The pink and black butterflies were cut from one of my favorite Bo Bunny collections called Primrose (I used the paper called Bliss).  I also used a fun BoBunny Stamp on this page called 'Butterflies'.   TIP:  Many of you ask what to do when your paper buckles from wetting or spritzing your paper with paints and water.  One of my favorite things to do is use my hair flattening iron on the paper, its a quick and easy fix!

So I hope you enjoyed todays post and hope I've given you some inspiration to get out your scrapping/mixed media products and Shimmerz Paints and play!

Mixed Media Canvas Tutorial with Gabrielle

Hello lovely Shimmerz Fans! It's Gabrielle here with you today to share a canvas I made recently using some new Shimmerz Paints products!  I was inspired to make this canvas when I got this cute rose ribbon from a friend of mine.  I thought of those pretty dresses I sometimes see on Pinterest....so I grabbed myself some complimentary Shimmerz Paints and got started.

I was going for a shabby-chic look so I wanted very subtle hints of color on my light background paper.  So I chose a couple of the Shimmerz Creameez paints: 'Ride the Tide' and 'Sage It Isn't So'.

I created a little video tutorial to show step by step how this little canvas was put together....so grab your favorite beverage and enjoy a little break while you view it! ....

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial...as always I like to show a few close-ups here on the blog that you can view at your leisure.

I used a variety of Dusty Attic chipboard to accent my canvas....these I simply painted with some white Gesso and brushed with a little brown chalk ink.  I used Maja Design paper for the background, I love the soft canvas it gives me, allowing me to add colors of my choice.  I used the blue and green of the Shimmerz paints directly behind the corset, this helps the soft white corset to stand out from the background.

Here is a close-up of the rose ribbon I used for the skirt design....I added a few tiny Prima daisies to accent the skirt.

I hope my project today has inspired you to pull out your Shimmerz Paints to play! ....Don't have these colors?  Just head on over to the Shimmerz Paints store and order your's today! Remember....If you want to get a FREE/Bonus Shimmerz Paints product with your next order, be sure to mention my name "Gabrielle' in the Instructions to Merchant part of your order and Shimmerz will send you a free Shimmerz Paints product in the color of your choice!  Thanks so much for stopping by the Shimmerz blog today!

I just love well the Shimmerz Inklingz and Creameez work when painting chipboard pieces.  Here I painted the Dusty Attic Indian Arrow....so many fun things you can do with this one!  I did a little quick painting with Shimmerz Creameez & Inklings, then added some twine and Bo Bunny adhesive pearls for a unique look.

For the butterfly, I printed off a butterfly image on an acetate sheet and cut out two sizes, gluing them together.  (I had the image on my old computer, so I no longer have the image to share....but you can find many printable butterfly images on Pinterest).  The metal embellishments are the key and keyhole embellishments from Graphic 45.  I used the TCW mini-brick stencil with the NEW Dusty Attic Texture paste to get my background design.

I used a combination of Shimmerz Glorious Day Vibez, Truffle Spritz and Green Olive Shimmerz Paint for the background brick texture colors.

Home Decor with Shimmerz & Gabrielle

Hello lovely Shimmerz Fans! I'm really excited to share with you a home decor design I made on a 12" x  24" canvas.  I often get asked how I come up with some of the ideas I make.....this one is not one I came up with myself.  I saw this wonderful canvas with a vase attached on Pinterest and thought about how nicely this would work with some new stencils I designed for The Crafter's Workshop (Moving Vines 12"x12" stencil, and Organic Matter 6"x 6" stencil).....so I contacted the lovely lady (Vicki Chrisman) that designed the one I saw and she kindly gave me permission to use her canvas as inspiration.

The Crafter's Workshop Stencils used in this project, designed by me :)

Shimmerz Paint Products used in this project:

~ Olive Branch Spritz
~ Bamboo Leaf Spritz
~ Glorious Day Vibez

Here is a very brief video tutorial I made up to show how I made this project! Enjoy! ....

I hope you enjoyed my little tutorial and that I've inspired you to get playing with your Shimmerz Paints.  Here are a couple of close-ups of my project....

I used the darker colors like Olive Branch  on the outer edges of the canvas, fading into the lighter colors like Bamboo Leaf on the inside....using Glorious Day for little hits of layered color in a few key spots.

I added extra layers of the darker spritz over the stenciled areas, allowing the to pool in the cavities and cracks.  The bottle I wired through the canvas using a piece of cardboard in the back of the canvas to make a strong backing for the vase.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Shimmerz blog today, and REMEMBER! If you are looking to order Shimmerz products, be sure to get your FREE/Bonus Shimmerz product in the color of your choice by mentioning my name 'Gabrielle' in the 'Instructions to Merchant/seller' part of your order! xo

Mixed Media Video Tutorial with Gabrielle

Good morning Shimmerz Fans! It's Gabrielle here with you today to share my newest mixed media page and Video Tutorial.  I don't know about you, but I love doing mixed media style pages, they are pretty quick and easy to do and they really allow you to get creative.

For this page I used a variety of Shimmerz Paints products for the background design as well as for use on the Dusty Attic chipboard embellishments I used.  So much fun getting to use some of the NEW colors Shimmerz recently released!

As always, I created a brief video tutorial to show step by step how this page design came together....so if you have a few minutes, grab a beverage, kick your feet up and enjoy!....

Hope you enjoyed today's video tutorial! Here are a few close-ups that you can view at your leisure...

I'm loving the soft smokey look some of the new colors gave my background design.  I have to say that Arti-choked has to be on of my favorite Texturez colors! Such a lovely shade of green! (used on the Dusty Attic Foliage)

I also love the pitted iron look the Shimmerz Gritty Graphite gives my scroll designs!

I'm glad you have the video to watch because my photos just don't do justice to the lovely effect the Shimmerz Spun Sugar gives to my hanging vines! Here I used the Crafter's Workshop Stencil I designed called Moving Vines with the Spun Sugar Dazzlerz.

So happy you had a chance to stop by the Shimmerz Blog today, we always love to hear your comments and feedback! Remember: if you would love a FREE/BONUS Shimmerz Paint product in the color of your choice with your next Shimmerz Paints order, be sure to put my name 'Gabrielle' in the Instructions to Merchant/Seller' part of your order! xo

Clean & Simple Style with Gabrielle

Hello Lovely Shimmerz Fans! Gabrielle here with you today to share with you a clean and simple style page I 'attempted'.  I say attempted because I tend to overfill my negative space areas....I so admire those that do this style so perfectly....me, I have to reign myself back a bit!

I began my page by first choosing my products and colors for my page design. I based my color scheme on an Inspiration Board for August from Dusty Attic (See my Blog for inspiration board).  I had meant to come up with a steely blue/gray by combining the 'Ride the Tide' Creameez with the 'Thunder Storm' Creameez....but my blue still seemed to dominate the page (wish I had the NEW creameez collections in hand! LOL!)

I created a short video tutorial to show you in a few steps how this page was made (it actually came together very quickly).  So grab yourself a little break, and enjoy!

Don't you just love the watercolor effect you get from the Creameez ?  I'm just super excited that Shimmerz just came out with a whole bunch of NEW colors for the Creameez and Inklingz collections! Can't wait to play with them!

The beauty of creating your own watercolor background design is that it will always be unique and different from what anyone else has done.  I just like to add a little water here and there to the colors, allowing them to run into each other a bit, till I get the desired effect.

I used the fabulous Dazzlerz and Texturez to color my Dusty Attic chipboard pieces.  Not only does this add deep rich colors but lots of fun texture as well.

I love to make use of some of my older stash (I used layered sticker blooms I had bought years ago from a K and Company collection called Blossomwood)....it's fun to mix the old with the new and see how your style has changed from when you first used these products.

If you haven't checked out the NEW selection of Shimmerz Paints products that just came out a few days ago, treat yourself to a peek....the new colors are FABULOUS!  Shimmerz Paints Store

Note: Be sure to get your FREE/Bonus Shimmerz Paints product (in the color of your choice) with your next order of Shimmerz Paints....Just mention my name 'Gabrielle' in the 'Instructions to Merchant/Seller' part of your order!

Hope you are all having a lovely, creative Summer! xo

Textured Journal Covers with Gabrielle {Video Tutorial}

Hello friends! It's Gabrielle here with you today to share an art journal cover I recently made using beautiful Shimmerz Paints, Dusty Attic chipboard and a variety of new stencils I designed for The Crafter's Workshop.  The Stencils I used were 'Tuscan Wall', 'Moving Vines' and 'Organic Matter'.  Because I was going for the warm colors of Tuscany, I went with yellows, blues and greens with a hint of sepia.   Here are the Shimmerz Paints colors/products I used for this project...

Shimmerz Products Used:
~ Heidi Ho Blue Coloringz
~ Glorious Day Vibez
~ Chocolate Brownie Coloringz
~ Taupe of the World Vibez
~ Bamboo Leaf Spritz
~ Olive Branch Spritz
~ Emerald City Inklingz
~ Artichoked Texturez
~ Pumpkin Shimmerz

I did a video recording, a sort of step by step of the making of this journal cover (front and back) if anyone wants to recreate the look.   So take a break from the hassles of your day and let creativity flow your way! Enjoy!

This was so much fun to make, I hope you enjoyed watching my video tutorial as much as I enjoyed creating this project!  Here are a few close-ups, that you can check out at your leisure....

Here's a view of the back and front cover.  I was going for a kind of aged, sun-warmed Tuscan doorway look.  I began by adding lots of textures using my stencils, and then just started layering on the paint colors starting with the lightest (Glorious Day Vibez) to the darkest.(Taupe of the World Vibez).

For the door, I brushed the Heidi Ho Blue on with a paint brush rather than spritzing it on, so that I would get streaks in the chipboard resembling woodgrain.  Then I lightly dry brushed some of my white Gesso over it to give the blue a more sun-bleached look. I finished the aged look by using a stamp I designed for The Scrapbook Diaries called Crackle Textures....I used the crackle paint stamp on the door and the peeled paint design on the walls.

For my vine corner, first I used my TCW 'Moving Vines' stencil with some texture paste, the  began to layer on my greens (Bamboo Leaf and Olive Branch Vibez).  For the chipboard I used the Chocolate Brownie Coloringz for the 'wood frame' and Emerald City Inklingz for the leaves.

For the Ivy vine, I used my all-time favorite color of Texturez called Artichoked on the Ivy cut out on my Tuscan Walls stencil.  And finally I used a very light brushing of Pumpkin Shimmerz for my cracked brick design.

NOTE:  Don't forget to get your FREE/BONUS Shimmerz product in the color of your choice with your next Shimmerz Paints order....Just mention my name 'Gabrielle' in the 'Instructions to Merchant/Seller' part of your order, and presto! Stacey will bestow an extra Shimmerz product upon you!  Perfect if you're like me and have a hard time narrowing down the colors you NEED! :P

....AND....If you haven't heard the exciting news yet, Shimmerz has brought out a whole bunch of gorgeous new colors for their summer release!  I'm super excited to give these lovely colors a go!  I recently have been playing a little more with the Creameez paints and I just love the matte watercolor look they can give to a project!...I sat here trying to pick some favorite colors, but it's so hard to do, they are all so yummy! (Firm Foundation, Sage It Isn't So, Good Ol' Summer Time...seriously, how cute are those names too!). What's your favorite?
