Positive Art Journal Spread | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a fun Art Journal Page with you all. I was in the mood to paint so I pulled out my handy dandy Art Journal. I am using my Daler Rowney Mixed Media Travelbook. I love the size of the pages in this journal, not too big, but enough space for me to get creative. I created a fun and colorful spread.

I began with a stencil and one of my favorite paste-eez in the color Tree Hugger which is a gorgeous teal. The stencil I used looks like pomegranate seeds. I love the texture the Paste-eez and stencil immediately add to my page. It looks pretty all by itself but of course I needed to add lots more color to it.

I pulled out some of my awesome Shimmerz paints in several colors, I used a Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai and Pink Stilettos and three Creameez in Trippin in the Tropics, Boogie Boardin Blue, and Lettuce get together. I used a watercolor brush and scattered the colors around the page in between the stenciled image. I mixed it up and added the intense colors in some areas and used a little more water to soften the same colors up in other areas. I love the look of this mix.

I used a black sharpie pen and added some faux stitching around parts of the stenciled image to add some additional interest. I love the detail that the faux stitching adds. I also added some positive coordinating word stickers to finish it off.
Supplies Used:
Paste-eez: Tree Hugger
Coloringz: Mandarin Mai Tai, Pink Stilettos
Creameez: Lettuce get Together, Boogie Boardin Blue, Trippin in the Tropics

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Remember...

Live a Colorful Life Art Journal Page | Katty Miranda

Hello friends! Katty here to share a fun Art Journal Page. For this page,  I just wanted to play with pretty spring colors. I wasn't sure exactly how this would turn out but I love how it did.  I was inspired by a chipboard word from the Pink Paislee Fancy Free Collection. I pulled out colors that would match this collection. I am working in my Daler-Rowney Mixed Media Travelbook.

I began with a small experiment which didn't really work out too well. LOL. I used some gloss medium which I had put into a fineline bottle and added some clusters of dots on my page above my chipboard word. My thought was that it would act as a resist when I used the watercolors over it. In the end it didn't shown up too well. Next time I'll have to add bigger dots.

I started layering my colors directly on my page. I used several  Creameez and one Coloringz. I began with the Coloringz in No Yoking and added color using the packaging technique and spread it out using my paint brush. Then I added my Creameez which  have a pretty touch of Shimmer to them. I used Boogie Boardin Blue, Refresh Mint, Lettuce Get Together, Tripping' in the Tropics, Great Fruit, My Clementine, and Cheeky Pink. I made sure to spread the colors out as evenly as I could throughout my spread. I added in some small flowers which I had fussy cut from a Patterned paper from the Fancy Free  collection.
I used the new Acritonez in 3 Sheets to the wind and added some white dots throughout  as well as some black splatters. I added my Colorful chipboard word and some scallop half circles which I had used on a previous project. To add some additional detail, I added faux stitching around the Colorful word and the half circles. I also used a circle stencil and traced some small circles in black pen. I added a few Tim Holts tiny word stickers and I finished it off with a messy double line around the whole page. I love how it turned out.
There is a video on my channel if you'd like to watch:

Guest Designer Adrienne Alvis

Hello everyone! My name is Adrienne Alvis and I'm so excited to be guest designing for Shimmerz over the next couple of months! I have to admit that while I love adding a touch of mist or watercolor to my layouts, sometimes I get really scared that I might end up hating or ruining my entire layout so I end up not using paint very often. I know that's really crazy, but I'm a perfectionist (to a fault) and sometimes it just scares me, lol! Anyway...I overcame all of my fears and perfectionist tendencies and created one of my all time FAVORITE layouts using some amazing products from Shimmerz!!!

I started by using a watercolor brush and dipping it into several of my favorite Shimmerz Coloringz spray mists on top of some white card stock. The Coloringz colors I used were Mandarin Mai Tai, Well Blue Me Down, Pink Stilettos, Pretty In Pink, and Don't Citron Me. I also added a few drips and splatters of each color as well.

Next, I placed some coordinating acetate phrases from Freckled Fawn on top of the color swatches. The Shimmerz Coloringz inks matched the phrases almost perfectly!

After I placed the acetate phrases on my page, I machine-stitched them down and layered several other phrases from Heidi Swapp on top of them for added dimension and color. I colored each of the Heidi Swapp Watercolor Words using coordinating Creameez colors such as Just Peachie, Good Ol' Summer Time, and Boogie Boardin's Blue with my watercolor brush.

I finished my layout by including the funny faced photo of my daughter and some shiny sequins on top of the white card stock and then I placed the card stock on top of a rainbow chevron striped piece of patterned paper from Bella Blvd.

If you're like me and scared of using paint, ink, and watercolors on your page then I hope I've inspired you to take the plunge and just do it! I promise that it will be worth the worry and I'm sure, just like me, you'll absolutely LOVE the results!

Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you have a fabulous day!

Shimmerz Supplies Used: Coloringz - Don't Citron Me, Well Blue Me Down, Pretty In Pink, Pink Stilettos, Mandarin Mai Tai; Creameez - Just Peachie, Good Ol' Summer Time, Boogie Boardin' Blue

Fun Ombre Effects with Beck BT

Hey there it's Beck BT here today to share with you a fun couple of cards I made using the yummy Shimmerz Creameez for a sweet ombre effect.  It is so easy to achieve numerous colours of the same tone and I just love how fun and easy this card was to make so I thought I would share with you a little tutorial to go with it!

Here is my steps process for you:

  • Create an ombre effect with Shimmerz Boogie Boardin' Blue Creameez adding the colour in layers watering it down for each layer and drying between layers.

  • Next I added some stamping with the Fun Stampers Journey 'Postage Stamps' stamp with matching ink colour to my background.  I used Fun Stampers Journey Blue Lagoon true color fusion Ink pad
  • Next I stamped using the Lawn Fawn's Sentiments stamp 'Thank you' in black.  This is quite a fine script.
  • I layered my white cardstock onto a Black cardstock slightly larger and then added to a white card base
  • I finished off the card with some light colored twine and black enamel dots.

I wanted to use the dark enamel dots to bring in the black colour base

For my cards today I used the follwoing Shimmerz products:

Shimmerz Creameez - Boogie Boardin' Blue

Thanks so much for heading over to the blog today to check out my project!  I hope I've inspired you and shown you how lovely a little Shimmerz Paints can easily create amazing cards!

Till next time

Hope you enjoyed watching.....here are a few close-ups you can view at your leisure....

I just love well the Shimmerz Inklingz and Creameez work when painting chipboard pieces.  Here I painted the Dusty Attic Indian Arrow....so many fun things you can do with this one!  I did a little quick painting with Shimmerz Creameez & Inklings, then added some twine and Bo Bunny adhesive pearls for a unique look.

For the butterfly, I printed off a butterfly image on an acetate sheet and cut out two sizes, gluing them together.  (I had the image on my old computer, so I no longer have the image to share....but you can find many printable butterfly images on Pinterest).  The metal embellishments are the key and keyhole embellishments from Graphic 45.  I used the TCW mini-brick stencil with the NEW Dusty Attic Texture paste to get my background design.

I used a combination of Shimmerz Glorious Day Vibez, Truffle Spritz and Green Olive Shimmerz Paint for the background brick texture colors.

Hope you enjoyed today's post! thanks so much for stopping by, your comments and feedback are always appreciated!
