Strong Together | Ericka Strange

Happy Monday Shimmerz Fanz and I hope the start of this new week finds you healthy and well. Ericka here with another card I made for the Shimmerz Spring Forward Challenge. The challenge is all about making a layout or card WITHOUT using PATTERNED PAPER!! I made a fun background using Tidy Widy Texturz with some Sprtiz and Coloringz.

I started with some Bristol Smooth cardstock and sprayed a couple of layers of Chick-a-Dee Spritz. Once it was dry, I mixed some Tidy Widy Texturez with some 4 Leaf Clover Sprtiz. Texturez have a grit or snady texture in the paste and I used my palette knife to spread it around my background. I sprayed some In Deep Coloringz on some plastic and added smooshed it on the background to give it additional texture.

I knew I wanted to use this Strong Sentiment from Ellen Hutson but my card needed something else, so decided to include the Bear from the All Inside set as well.

I sprayed the bear with Grey Flannel Vibez and added a little colored pencil for additional details. I also added some white gel pen to his eyes and a little pink to his cheeks. I painted the bunny with Ride the Tide Creameez and added it to my bear.

I made a little sign by attaching the Together sentiment which is part of the Be Strong set and added a little handle for him to hold.

I finished my card with a die cut sentiment and Glossy Accents for shine!

Floral Grace Card | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! Today I'm sharing a fun all occasion card. As soon as I saw the Floral Grace Stampz set, I immediately fell in love with this gorgeous flower! It's so graceful and versatile. I can see it in autumn colors for a fall flower, in reds and pinks for a holiday poinsettia, or any color of your choosing for an everyday card. And it's such a perfect size to really make a statement on a card. You really must take one home, if you haven't already! 😉

I started by stamping the flower and a few of the leaves on watercolor paper with Hero Arts Intense Black ink. This ink doesn't react with water, so it's the perfect ink for wet mediums. Next I sprayed some Scarlett's Fever and Pretty in Pink Coloringz on my palette and watercoloring the flower. Since Coloringz are flat sprays, I added a little Angel Wings Shimmerz for the perfect amount of shine. I love how soft and shimmery it looks when it catches the light. Beautiful, vibrant colors, with just the right amount of sparkle!

To finish the flower, I went in with a white gel pen and a black permanent pen for detailing and to add in some of that white space I always seem to forget because I get so excited about the beautiful color! I did a little bit better at the white space on the my leaves, colored with Bamboo Leaf Spritz and Palm Reader Vibez. Then I let my fingers do the fussy cutting and layered the pieces together.

I really loved the flowers make any day special sentiment from the set, and thought it would be fun to create a rainy day background to make the colors in the flower pop. I smooshed on some Deep Blue Sea and Don't Rain on My Parade Vibez  and dropped some water on it. Next I added a bit of Tidy Widy Texturez with a stencil for the effect of rain, then finished off with a splattering of Pool Me Close Shimmerz.  The sentiment is embossed in white on black cardstock, something that always seems to make a sentiment shine. Three little red rhinestones are the only other accent.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! There are so many fabulous ways to make your projects shine in the Shimmerz store! Hop over there and make your crafty dreams sparkle. And remember to put my name, Julee Tilman, in the comments when you place your order for a FREE mini surprise product!

Fresh Start with Julee Tilman

Hi friends! Today I'm sharing my first card for Shimmerz. I fell in love with their beautiful products earlier this year when I asked for a sweet little collection of colors for Valentine's Day and now I am so excited to have been selected to join their card creations team! I'm a stamper at heart, and the beautiful new line of stamps, combined with all the gorgeous colors in the Shimmerz line have me giddy to create!

I started my card with a simple smooshed background. I cut a 4 x 5.25" panel of tan designer paper, then sprayed a bit of Chocolate Brownie Coloringz (Coloringz are vibrant, highly pigmented sprays with no shimmer) on a piece of acetate packaging and then smooshed onto the designer paper. I love the subtle painterly effect it gives! Would love my walls to have this exact treatment (but wouldn't love to do it myself - haha)! I splattered some of the leftover ink, then sponged around the edges lightly with a brown ink pad.

Next I pulled out the lovely Fresh Start Stampz set. This set has some beautiful multi-step floral imagery as well as sweetly lettered sentiments. I was particularly drawn to the every day is a fresh start sentiment, since I'm starting this new journey with Shimmerz.  So I stamped the sentiment on a die cut circle  and set it aside while I got to work on the flowers.

I started with the solid flower, inking first with clear Versamark ink, then adding Lil' Yellow Skool Bus Coloringz on my craft mat and then picking up with a waterbrush to give the stamp a good coat of yellow. Next I stamped the detailed flower in a salmon color and then the outline flower in brown.  I stamped three flowers all together, then fussy cut them, cutting just the center portion of one in order to add a little dimensional pop to the flower center. I used a makeup brush to pick up some of the leftover inks and sponge around the edges of my cut flower and the sentiment circle.

Since I had picked an autumn palette, I gathered a few fall embellishments... leaves from a floral pick from Hobby Lobby, a wooden leaf and some sequins from Target.  The sequins were a shiny gold, but I wanted a more subdued color, so altered them with a mixture of Tidy Widy Texturez (a fabulous white texture paste) with a few sprays of Chocolate Brownie Coloringz and some Coffee Shimmerz (Shimmerz is a beautiful super sparkly paint), then painted the sequins. I also gave the wooden leaf a coat of Coffee Shimmerz, then  pulled everything together with a raffia bow. I dipped the bow in chocolate brownie ink, then added a few rhinestones and glued everything down. For a little extra shimmer I added a bit of Limoncello Shimmerz to the orange leaf and some highlights on the lower layers of the flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping in today! If you need some Shimmerz in your life (and who doesn't?, remember to put my name, Julee Tilman, in the comment section when you place your order. ðŸ˜€ And today's the last day of our fall promotion. Arty Tag by Joyce

A large tag created with Deep Blue Sea, Heavy Metal, and Texturez Tidy Widy.

What I like about the Texturez product is that you can obtain a least two different results using the same product.  Let me show you two of the results:

On the above photo, you can achieve a crackle effect by doing the following:

Apply the product, than place a piece of paper firmly over the product and carefully lift up the paper.  It lifts some of the textured bits within the product and leaves a cool crackle wrinkle pattern behind. Then mist with your favorite Shimmer Mist spray.

On the above photo, you can achieve a highly textured effect by doing the following:
Apply Texturez on top of the chipboard, and hit it with a heat gun and watch the product bubble up.  Some Deep Blue Sea and Heavy Metal was spritz over the chipboard in various places.

I hope I have inspired you to use Texturez in one of the two ways above!

Gypsy Soul

Did you hear that gypsy Shimmerz Siren call out to you?
Yep, that was me, Joyce.
I’m going to show you how to apply some gypsy/bohemian style
to your art today using Shimmerz Paints.

I have been enchanted by Gypsy genre and bohemian art styles lately,
so I thought I’d take those  feelings and put them on paper.
I adored the movement in the girls dance!
And, I thought I could create such movement with some art products.

  • Applications of stencil and Shimmerz Texturez Tidy Widy were applied over various areas on the 9 x 12 watercolor paper.
  • Then a heat gun was applied over the textured product and allowed to rise, bubble and burst which rendered a lacy look.
  • On top of the stenciled work, drops of Shimmerz Paint colors were applied, and I quickly added drops of water over the paint colored drops.  After this application, I allowed the color to dry completely before apply several other colors using the same technique.
  • Once all the colors of paint dried thoroughly, I applied a white art pen over the raised stencil work to make it look like a lacy appearance.

And what’s a gypsy girl without her baubles and chains?
  • Some Inglingz Brass Knuckles was applied over the chipboard chains and then some white art pen markings were added to each bead in the chain.
  • I gently swiped some Shimmerz Celery over the chain.
  • Some gesso and Shimmerz Key Lime were lightly applied over the metal flower charms.

 Shimmerz Products:
Spritz – Chance of Rain, 4 Leaf Clover, Plum Pudding
Vibez – Plum Tuckered Out, Blushing Bride
Shimmerz – Celery, Berry-licious, Orchid-stra, Key lime
Inkglingz- Brass Knuckles
Texturez – Tidy Widy

Listen for my Irish Shimmerz Siren call to bring you back on March 15th,

A Watercolor Santa, with Karine

Hi,

I'm here today to share my last creation for Shimmerz Paints for 2016. As Christmas is near, I wanted to make something Christmassy, but I didn't want to do a layout, so I went for a little ornament that made its way on my mantle this year.

I drew the Santa following an image I've pinned on Pinterest. I'm sorry, I can't find the link. I would love to give the credit to the person who drew this cute Santa first.

For his clothes, I used Red Hot Aqua Huez and Tidy Widy Texturez. For his skin, I used Tan Yer Hide Aqua Huez and My Clementine Creameez. I also added a bit of Piglet Aqua Huez on his cheeks. His beird, hair and moustache, I shaded with No One's Chrome Inklingz and Thunder Storm Creameez.

The belt, I colored with Inter-BLACK-Tic Aqua Huez. For the buckle, I used Sheer Bliss Inklingz. His little stuffed deer, I painted with Don't Be Suede Coloringz and a bit of Tan Yer Hide Aqua Huez.

I used Ride the Tide Creameez around Santa, and Green Acres Creameez under his feet.

I hope you like it.

Joy, a dramatic layout with Karine

Hi there, Shimmerz fans,

Here is my second layout for this month.

I used the Dreamy paper from the Homegrown collection by 7 Dots Studio. I primed it with clear gesso.

I used some Tidy Widy Texturez through a rectangle stencil to build texture on my background.

To add even more texture and contrast, I selected another stencil and used Licorice Stick Dazzelerz. When everything was dry, I used my favorite color these days, Deep Blue Sea Vibez, to spray and make some drops.

I didn't have enough flowers to match my layout, so I chose a white one with a script print, and I used Teal the End of Time Shimmerz with lots of water to color it. I'm pretty pleased with the result. I also used this Shimmerz to make a few drops on the background.

My title piece is covered with Tidy Widy Texturez that I painted with Deep Blue Sea Vibez and a little bit of water. Tags and die cuts are from the Homegrown collection, by 7 Dots Studio.

I hope you like it.
