Born To Explore | Boy Layout using Run! Forest, Pumpkin, Bumbly Bee | With Process Video

Hello Shimmerz friends!

Hope you are doing well and bright! Sharing this gorgeously starry layout with you today using oranges, yellows and greens. Link to process video can be found at the end of the post:

Started out with a white piece of cardstock that I've trimmed down to 11.5 by 11.5 in order to fit a border behind it later. Played a bit with the placement of patterned paper and pictures before getting out my colors:

- Can't Elope - Inklingz
- Bumbly Bee - Shimmerz
- Olive U Truly - Inklingz
- Run! Forest - Shimmerz
- Pining For You - Creameez
- Pumpkin - Pumpkin
- Orange Sherbet - Shimmerz
- Marigold - Shimmerz

I added the mixed media by colors; I began with the oranges (Can't Elope, Pumkin, Orange Sherbet) and let them dry a bit. Then added in the yellows (Bumbly Bee, Marigold) and finally worked with the greens. Each color group was worked with the packaging technique and splatters.

Once all the colors were dry, I glued my patterned paper (Amy Tangerine | Slice of Life | Rainbow Hall) and placed my pictures on craft foam for dimension. Added two small clusters of embellishments near my pictures. Had some leftover stars from a cutfile I had previously used (Circle Of Stars by Virginia Walker | COAPA Cutfiles); sprayed some of them with Tuscan Sun (Spritz) and others with Goldie Lox (Shimmeringz) and formed a sort of star burst effect on the layout with them. Each white star was added in on craft foam; I was punched out a few vellum stars and glued them unto the cardstock. Finished off the layout by added some Nuvo Drops, placed my title, wrote my journaling and then mounted the white cardstock unto a patterned paper (Amy Tangerine | Hustle and Heart). Below are a few more close-ups.

I love how this layout turned out! It's so colorful and star-filled, perfect for documenting boy memories. Hope to have inspired you and I'll see you back soon! Link to process video: https://youtu.be/wWoPn2s1mb8

Mermaid Shimmerz | Ericka Strange

Hello Shimmerz Fanz! I hope your week is going well. Ericka here with a mermaid card I made using a variety of Shimmerz products. I love how easy it is to mix and match these products to create beautiful shine and colors in any project.

I started by creating the background for the mermaid. I wanted to see if I could get watery look with my Vibez and Shimmerz. I took Bristol Smooth paper and lightly sprayed water on one side and then using the end of the spray, took the Jeni B Bleu and Hermit the Frog and added color so that it would drip down the page. Once that layer dried, I used Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise and Evergreen and added some more water and color to my brush to layer the shimmery color. While my background was drying, I stamped the mermaid and her little friends and heat embossed them with WOW Aventurine powder. This powder is a beautiful turquoise color with gold glitter which complements the Shimmerz perfectly.

I used the same Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise and Evergreen and also added Bumbly Bee and 1 Hot Mama Creameez. I love how the Creameez blended with the Turquoise to give her purple highlights. Once everything was dry, I cut out my images and added them to my shimmery background.

Thanks for stopping by and feel free to check out my blog for more information on how I made my card. Don't forget to check out the new and beautiful August Kitz!

When Life Gives Lemons | Julee Tilman

Hi  Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman popping in today with a little shimmery creation.

This weekend I was at a local craft store and came across the sign below. I'm an avid coffee drinker and this totally made me giggle. I knew I just had to recreate it in card form for one of my coffee loving friends!

To start the card, I pulled out stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and stamped the lemon on watercolor paper, then masked the lemon off and stamped it again. I then added a mask to the other lemon and created a background around the lemons by plopping on Hint of Mint Spritz, Well Blue Me Down Coloringz, and It's Mint to Be Shimmerz. When it had dried I splattered with more Well Blue Me Down and Bumbly Bee Shimmerz.

After I peeled off the masks, I painted the lemons using Limoncello and Bumbly Bee, then stamped a few of the leaves on a scrap piece of watercolor paper and colored with a mixture of Hint of Mint and Bumbly Bee. That's one of the things I love about Shimmerz, everything blends so well you can always create the perfect coordinating color! The leaves are fussy cut and layered over the lemons.

The when life gives you lemons sentiment is stamped in black and embossed with clear embossing powder to really make it stand out and then I started in on the customized portion of the sentiment.  I pulled out the Bitty Minnie Alpha and stamped the word trade and them, then chose the for from the Happpy Alpha set to make a little banner across my panel.

The coffee is one of the fabulous Dotz embellishments from the Cup O Love Dotz collection. Love these sweet little embellies for cardmaking! I accented it with a couple more stamped leaves, then set this aside to work on a little splatter background. I like a little variation in my splatters, so in addition to the Bumbly Bee and Limoncello Shimmerz, I also splattered on some Goldie Lox Shimmeringz. This color is so beautiful and added just the perfect amount of variety.

I finished with a black mat and a white card base. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your day Shimmerz! 😁

On My Mind | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee and I'm popping in today to share a little cardmaking inspiration.

Have you grabbed the Missy Whidden April Color Kit yet? I was so excited to play with this color palette, but when I went to pull the colors from my shelf, I realized I didn't actually have 1 Hot Mama and Honey Do List like I thought I did. Doh! Guess that just means I need to do some shopping, right? 😃 Since I had two of the colors and the kit's exclusive Butterfly Beauties Dotz, I decided to just roll with it and substitute Pip Pip Cherry O and Celery Shimmerz for my card. I love the fun spring feel these colors have, and what's not to love about a little extra Shimmerz?

I started by painting Pip Pip Cherry O, Celery, Bumbly Bee Shimmerz, and the Jeni B Bleu Vibez individually onto a plastic baggie, adding water, and smooshing onto watercolor cardstock. If you try this at home, be sure to dry in between colors or you might end up with a muddy mess. While I had the colors out, I painted a strip of each color to use to punch out circles to frame the beautiful butterfly Dotz.

I stamped a couple tiny sentiments and embossed in white on black cardstock. I then cut a super thin strip of black cardstock to align the butterflies diagonally.  A thin black mat and a white card base and I was finished.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! As always, if you place an order in the Shimmerz shop, mention my name, Julee Tilman, in the comments for a free mini surprise.

Start The Day Right | Melinda

Hello crafty friends!
Melinda here with you today and I am excited to share my latest "Shimmery" project with you.
Here's my card. I started with a soft cream cardstock, to create an A2 Top folding base.

For my mat, I cut a piece of watercolor paper to 4 x 5.25. I then took my Bumbly Bee Shimmerz paint and spread some on an acrylic block.

I took the solid floral stamp from the Fresh Start Stamp set and "smooshed" it into the paint.

I then "stamped" it onto my mat. I started by stamping in the top left corner.

I then repeated the steps by stamping on the edges first.

I then continued to repeat the process until I had filled in the background mat.

I finished off the mat by adding a little splatter using my So Sappy and Pumpkin Shimmerz Paints.

I then added a pretty mat from one of my border punches. and then topped it off by stamping and coloring some of the flowers from the same Fresh Start Stamp Set. I stamped the sentiment onto a strip of paper and added it to my card. I finished off the card by adding a few sequins. I think this turned out really pretty.

Rumbly in my Tumbly | Niki Rowland

Hey there Shimmerz Fans! Niki here today and I have a bright colourful layout to share with you today.

I've used the new Dear Lizzy collection 'New Day' and it has lots of bright colours in it. I chose a striped paper with lots of colours and tore a strip of it to go across the top of my layout. I then matched my Shimmerz paints to the coloured stripes and extended the colours down the layout.

Once I had created my colourful background I then stuck on my striped paper. I created a photo cluster with three photos and lots of embellishments, all from the New Day collection too.

I used the multi print alpha from the same collection to make a fun title and I handwrote in my journaling at the bottom to finish off.

Now you've got to the end, I'll let you into a secret. This layout was initially quite different. I had also got a striped paper strip at the bottom too with the colours painted up as well. I actually finished the layout but it was awful! It's extremely rare for me to make a layout that I hate and I really did hate this one, so much so that I didn't feel I could share it as a DT project for Shimmerz. So I left it a few days and then chopped it up, rescued the top painted part and added it to a new white background with a white strip right at the top and some white space at the bottom. This made it a whole lot better and I'm now happy with the end result (almost). See, even people on Design Teams get things wrong occasionally :)

Happy scrapping lovelies and may Shimmerz paints colour your world beautiful xxx

Tulip Card | Melinda Beltran

Happy Saturday Shimmerz friends,

Melinda here with you today and I am excited to share my latest card creation with you!
With spring time just around the corner and with all the cold, cold weather we have been having across the United States, I thought this would be a great reminder of what's to come! My finished card size is a top folding A2 size card.

I started by stamping my Tulip image from the Simply Enjoy Shimmerz Stampz set. I used some of the Sweet Cane Ink to stamp the image. I then proceeded to paint the tulips with some of the Bumbly Bee Shimmerz paint.

Next, I layered some of the Buddy's Favorite Color Shimmerz paint to give it some variegated. Where I was raised, they would have a large annual Tulip Festival and I would always be intrigued with these flowers that were so hearty, yet pretty and unique.

Next, I went to work on the leaves and used a combination of the Green Olive and So-Sappy Shimmerz Paints.

After finishing with the leaves, I set about to paint the background. I used the Colder Thank Ice Shimmerz paints for that soft, shimmery blue.

Once the blue was dry, I went ahead and added in some of the Golden Wheat Shimmerz paint. I wanted to warm up the background just a bit and give it some depth.

Once it was dry, I trimmed the panel down. I then splattered some water on to the piece and then dabbed up the spots. It pulled some of the paint up creating some water drop effects. I added a strip of plain red cardstock and splattered a little of my "reclaimed" water from my brush to give it some sparkly splatters. I also added a little border of twine for a little extra flair.

I stamped my sentiment and then trimmed it and added it to my card. I also scattered a few sequins for an extra touch.

Here is one last look at my completed card. It was such an enjoyable card to create. The process of painting is so relaxing and with the special shimmer of the paint, I don't have to add anything to it to get such an amazing look!
