Color Kitz April Collection | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all!  Brianna Lepper here and I'm back with another layout using this months Color Kitz!  The April Collection is so pretty and is so perfect to use to document your Spring photos!  For $30.95 + shipping here's what you'll get this month!

  • Something Like Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a blue watercolor with a grey undertone. Much like cloudy skies on a rainy day
  • Wave of Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a medium denim blue jeans water color
  • Cold as Ice Vibez
  • Chick-A-Dee Spritz
  • Don't Citron Me Coloringz
  • Limoncello Shimmerz
  • 1 exclusive Sweet Rainbow cut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 package of daisy buttons
  • 1 set of "Sunshine mixed with a Little Hurricane" Dotz
  • 1 set of Shimmerz Paints Stencil with dewdrops

Here's my layout for this month!

To get started, I prepped a piece of Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock with some white gesso.  I then applied the gorgeous new colors in the kit: Waves of Blue and Someone Like Blue Inklingz.  I also splattered and painted on the Cold As Ice Vibez.  I wanted some color peeking behind the cut file!  Once it was all dry, I took the Dewdrop stencil and applied some Tidy Widy Texturez through it right on top of the blue paints. I love all of the texture!

I then cut the cut file out on some white textured cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo 3.  As soon as it was done cutting, I knew I had to create little shakers in the hearts and that the cute Daisy Buttons from the kit needed to be added!

This cut file is very delicate, so I had to be very careful applying the thin foam tape around each heart and the Daisy Buttons are pretty thick, so I had to use 3 layers of the foam tape to make sure the Daisies and SpiegelMom Scraps sequins would be able to move and shake freely.  I went ahead and backed the rest of the rainbow in rainbow color order using a patterned paper from Paige Evans Bloom Street collection.

Since my layout was starting to come together with the Dewdrops and the Rainbow cut file, I knew I needed a Sun!  So, I took the Chick-a-Dee Spritz and Limoncello Shimmerz and applied both to some cardstock and did the same with the Don't Citron Me Coloringz since I wanted to create some leaves with it.  I traced the sun and fussy cut it out and tucked it behind the rainbow.

I pulled a few punches and punched out some leaves shapes from the sprayed green cardstock.  I fussy cut some floral pieces from another piece of patterned paper from Bloom Street and tucked the punched leaves here and there.

Next, I grabbed the You Are My Sunshine Dotz and adhered 2 down onto my page.  I added some tangled thread underneath each one to give it even more texture.

Look at all of those layers!

I then added a simple title and that finished off my layout!

Thank y'all so much for stopping by today!  I hope I've inspired you in some way! I truly enjoy working with the Color Kitz each month and hope that you'll tag me in the projects that you create with them!  When placing your next order, don't forget to add my name in the notes/comments section of your order and you'll receive a free gift!

Brrr | Anna Komenda

Hello mixed media fans. It's Anna here with my shiny and frosty project. I used Shimmerz mists and paints to create a winter page full of sparkly snowflakes. I chose a picture of my daughter playing with snow and throwing it into the air. It was cold but sunny day and snow sparkled beautifully.

Using sparkly mists helped me to highlight the winter glow and frost. I used four different shaded of blue to make my snowflakes. I love how all the Vibez combine together.

It's hard to show how sparkly my background is. Shimmerz paints are filled with a lot of shimmering powder and it's so easy to add shine to you projects using them. They also dry with a glossy type of finish.

With background as pretty as that and with so much effort put into making it, you don't want to cover it with embellishments :) That's why I added only few of them here and there.

I am happy how it turned out. As always I have a process video for you.

That's all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you next month with another mixed media project.

XO Anna

Messy Threads

Did you hear that Shimmerz Siren Call?  Yep, that was me, Joyce, calling out to you to share in my  design team journey with luscious Shimmerz paint products. Let me share my newest elegant gown art page with you.

It’s at this time of year in Southern California that I prefer to create. The cooler weather and cool color palette inspires me.  This is quite a simple page, but using monotone colors sometimes can pack a punch of textures and delight.

This photo of a lovely lady in her soft billowing dress in a winter forest is surrounded by Shimmerz cool color palette of the following products and colors found in the Shimmerz Paint Store:

Spritz: Rocka Fella Blue
Spritz: See Ya Latte
Vibez: Deep Sea Blue
Vibez: Cold As Ice
Paste-eez: Salt of the Sea
Creameez: Marshmellow

Paper Techniques: 9 x 12 Watercolor paper was moistened with a spritz of water; then a spritz of spray of Rocka Fella Blue and lightly dabbed off with a moistened sea sponge to leave a mottled effect; let product dry completely;   repeat the same process to add more depth; add a spritz of spray of both Deep Sea Blue and Cold As Ice and lightly dab off with a moistened sea sponge and let products dry completely.  After all the above, I embossed some white stamp work for texture. After all the spray work, some separated splatters of Marshmellow, Rocka Fella Blue and watered down gesso were applied to the paper.

White snowflakes: These were created with a stencil and the dimensional paint Pastee-eez  Salt of the Sea.  Some diamond dust was added on top of the dimensional paint to make them shimmer.

Snowflake Chipboard:  Some Gum Arabic was added to some Rocka Fella Blue Spritz to add some stability to paint with on top of the snowflake chipboard pieces on both sides of the photo.

Textured elements:  And finally, Rocka Fella Blue and See Ya Latte were added to some white mulberry fiber paper for a little texture.

And, if you’re wondering if I really sew that badly, well no…not really, but sometimes a happy accident can add so much interest.

If I have inspired you to use some Shimmerz products, add my name to your Shimmerz order for a free mini Shimmerz product.

Listen for my siren to bring you back here on February 15th.

Seriously, This Happened | Adrienne Alvis

Hello Shimmerz fans! I'm here today sharing a simple layout that I created using a variety of Vibez and Coloringz spray inks!

Using spray inks are my favorite way to add color to my layouts. I started by choosing some really bright and vivid colors for my page and took the nozzle out so I could create some very simple and basic multicolored circles on the white cardstock that I chose to use for my background design. I just dipped the end of the nozzle piece into the ink bottle and created circles with it.

After the ink dried, I placed some Dear Lizzy Black Varnish stickers on top of the painted circles so they would really pop off of the page. I layered two faux photo strips of my daughter and I to the right side and added a couple of Hip Kit Club die cuts around the strips for added color and dimension.

I added my title by using a cut file cut out of black cardstock and another Hip Kit Club die cut to finish off my page. I also added a few heart-shaped Dear Lizzy Black Varnish stickers to draw the eye around my page and to my title.

Shimmerz Paints Used: Coloringz - Don't Citron Me, No Yoking, Mandarin Mai Tai, Punked Up Purple; Vibez - Cold As Ice, Razzledazzle Berry

I love how fun and colorful this layout turned out to be just by using some colorful Shimmerz ink and a simple design!

Thanks for joining me today and I hope you have a very colorful and creative day!

Under the Sea Fun with Gabrielle!

Hi All, It's Gabrielle here with you today to share with you my latest mixed media canvas using some new Shimmerz products that I am totally in LOVE with!  Have you tried the newest reformulated Shimmerz Paint pots?

These newest selection of Shimmerz paints are so incredibly shimmery and pigmented!!  You get crazy rich color....I picked up all the colors and just love them!  I also picked up the newest colors in the Shimmerz Spritz....for this project I used the 'See Ya Latte' Spritz and 'Walkin' a tight Heliotrope' Spritz (the Cold as Ice Vibez I already had in my stash).

For this project I made a whimsical octopus out of Sculpey baking clay (step by step shown in the video)....and I used some Dusty Attic chipboard to bring the design together. So grab yourself your favorite beverage, sit back and enjoy!.....

I hope you all enjoyed my video tutorial and picked up some tips in creating your own Under the Sea canvas.  Remember I'm always happy to answer any questions and love to hear your feedback on the project!  Here are a few close-ups of the project that you can enjoy at your leisure....

I used seed beads (Prima - Licorice) to blend the octopus legs into the background design of the canvas.  The design was meant to be whimsical so you only see part of  the octopus moving onto the canvas (I know of course, an octopus has 8 legs, lol!)

I always like to use a variety of Dusty Attic chipboard to help create my little vignettes on my canvases, I feel like they help tell the story.  Before I applied my chipboard frame I added some aqua and turquoise sequins to add extra shimmer and sparkle to the project.

Another thing I always try to remember when creating a canvas is that this project will be viewed from many angles, so you want to make sure that you cover all areas of your project with color.

And finally here is a top view of the project.  I hope you enjoyed watching my tutorial and learning about how this project came together.  I always love to hear your comments and feedback.  Thanks for popping in today!

If you would like to order the paints and sprays used in this project, you can find them all at the Shimmers Paints Store  NOTE: Be sure to mention my name to get your FREE/Bonus Shimmerz Paints Product (in the color of your choice) in your next order!
