Shimmerz October Color Challenge with Samantha Robles

Good morning everyone! This month, our Shimmerz Teams have been hard at work trying something new. Something completely out of our comfort zone. We try to do these challenges during seasonal changes so we're not so focused on the bright vibrant colors, but more the neutral transitional colors. More of something that intimidates us. So far, our team has kicked butt sharing their projects. Now, it's my turn!

Purples are my least used color. Purple just never has been my jam to use. So I chose "Imperial Amethyst" Inklingz. It's a dark purple watercolor with shimmer added. I totally underestimated this color. HOLY WOW!
I started by taking a whole sheet of watercolor cardstock and just dowsed my jar of Imperial Amethyst and Good as Gold Inkingz, as well as Berry Hot Creameez. I mean I just took the jar and put is under the water and just let it full up in the jar. I then let it set maybe 2 minutes so it can really penetrate the whole jar of paint.
Once that's done, I take my spray bottle of water and dowse my page in water. Not soaking but enough to get little puddles going. At this point, my jars of Berry hot and Imperial are ready to pour onto the water. Taking my heat tool, I then spread my Imperial Amethyst first. Once that's done, we repeat those steps with Berry Hot. Giving it a watercolor gem feel. Just make sure your colors don't get muddy. Really get each spot 85% dry before adding the next color. The final part of the color process is splattering Good as Gold through the sheet.

While my sheet is settling and drying, I then take a sheet of white cardstock and cut a basic heart shape. This page was made with my husband and I's vow renewal in mind so I want all the love pouring out of this page! I then take my hot glue gun and glue both sheets together. Once a page has been saturated as much as mine was, I just extra hold. so the weaker paper can be supported more on  the top sheet.

I then start adding some Pink Paislee flowers from the Paige Taylor Evan's collection "Whimsical". I will forever love those flowers. My all time favorites! I also have some Shimmerz Paints Dotz: Blooming Budz Set. This set is so feminine and sweet. I have like 3 packages stashed away. I used some of these letter stickers from the Pink Paislee Paige Taylor Evans Collection: "Truly Grateful". The colors match PERRRRFECTLY! Love love love. The final piece is the journaling portion on the side. I'm HORRIBLE at having a steady hand but I'll take it.
I have to say, my new favorite is now Imperial Amethyst. I'm truly blown away at how you can add more layers of this color and it becomes even more breath taking. I HIGHLY suggest adding this one to your Shimmerz stash. Thanks for joining me today. Don't forget to add my name to the bottom of your order comments when you check out for a freebie. Who doesn't love freebies?!

Have the best week <3

'Make Great Memories' Layout with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey there everyone, this is Niki with a new layout to share today. I have used four Inklings & Creameez Shimmerz Paints to creat the water colour effect background on my layout.

These photos were taken on the hottest day ever recorded in the UK so this layout had to be full of bright summery colours. I chose to use Heidi Swapp Color Fresh collection and I started off by figuring out the basic arrangement of my layout. I added the strips at the top and stitched through them.

I added my Inklingz and Creameez to my background using the packaging technique. The trick with these hard paints is to drop some water in them and allow them to sit for a few minutes - this melts the top layer slightly and you end up with a fabulous rich paint.

I pick up some colour with a paintbrush and transfer it onto the packaging. If it's not wet enough then I add some water. Sometimes I just press it onto the layout, then add water directly to the layout and then put the packaging back over the top so that I still achieve the water colour effect. I have made a process video of this layout so if you want to see how I create my backgrounds in more detail then take a look at that. You can find it at the end of this blog post.

The four colours I used are:
Pink Champagne Creameez
Berry Hot Creameez
Refresh Mint Creameez
Meet Me @ Sunset Inklingz.

Once the paint applied with the packaging technique was dry(ish), I then added splatters. I usually add them colour-on-colour, ie yellow splatters over yellow paint. I did this for this layout. I also added some extra splatters once I had finished the layout.

Here's another look at the finished layout. You can see that I've also used some Dotz...one to the left of my photos that says 'Smile' and the other one is above my photos - that fabulous orange and yellow swirl...this reminded me of a very hot sun, so perfect for this layout.

Thanks so much for joining me today, you can view my process video below. Don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, put my name in the comments and you will get a freebie with your order.

Happy scrapping xx

Floral Hello by Isha Gupta

Hello Shimmerz friendz, Isha here sharing a clean and simple winter card with you.

I decided to use the Stampz: Fresh Start to create my card. It's a pretty layering set but for today, I simply used the outline and created a monochromatic card.

I started by applying the PASTE-EEZ: Salt of The Earth to the cardbase and let it dry. Once dry, I applied a light wash of Shimmerz: When Skies are Gray.
Meanwhile, I stamped the florals and colored them using Creameez: Berry Hot. Once colored, I fussy cut them.
Here is a close-up to check out the shimmer and texture.

I then flicked some splatters of  Creameez: Berry Hot to the base. Adhered the florals and the leaves. To finish, I adhered a die-cut word "HELLO"
I really like the dimension we can get using various products, still keeping the card as one layer, easy to mail :)

Here are the products I used:
Stampz: Fresh Start

Thank you for stopping by!! Hope you like my creation and got inspired to create monochromatic CAS mixed media cards. If you decide to add some shimmery goodness in your stash, please don't forget to put my name "ISHA GUPTA" in the comments and get a free surprise freebie :)

Flowers Makes the Day Special Card with Isha Gupta

Hello Shimmerz friendz, I am Isha Gupta and I am so excited and honored to be joining the Shimmerz design team. I love colors, texture and shimmerz is all about it :)
This month Samantha challenged the team to pick one color and create a project around it. I picked the Creameez: Berry Hot and created a monochromatic card using the Petite Poppies stamp set. Love the soft and subtle satin shine of this color.

I die-cut a watercolor panel and stamped the images using Versafine onyx black ink. I then embossed them using clear embossing powder.
I colored the images using the Creameez: Berry Hot and worked in layers to give some deapth. I also added a bit of Shimmerz: Coal for the centers of the flowers. Once this was dry, I created a background ombre wash keeping the color concentration on the top part to balance the colors on the panel. Then I added some flicks of the same color and let this panel dry and then stamped the sentiment from the Stampz: Floral Grace stamp set.
To finish I added some gold splatter using Inklinkz: Miner Miner 49er
Here you can see the soft and subtle silky shine.

Here are the products I used:

Scrapbooking Mixed Media Tutorial With Irit

Hi! Irit here and I'm so excited to share this layout I created using some gorgeous Shimmerz goodies! Here's my finished layout-

I started with a floral silk screen by Heidi Swapp and my favorite product these days (it's a tough choice!)- some shimmery yummy Dazzlers paste in Coral Me Crazy. It worked so beautifully! Look at the detail you get-

Once the paste was dry I added some watercolors. I used Inklingz in Beets Me (gorgeous shimmery cool pink), and Creameez in Daffodil (lovely yellow), Berry Hot (a brighter cool pink) and Trippin in the Tropics (love this color! It's a pinkish warm red). I applied a couple of layers and also some splatters.
Once these were dry I decided the layout needed some more color, so I used Coloringz in No Yolking (no shimmer bright yellow), Pink Stilettos (hot pink) and Vibez in Mango Tango (again that lovely color, similar to Trippin in the Tropics, it's a warm pinkish orangy red) to amplify the color a bit.

And my background is done! I used papers and die cuts from the new Dear Lizzy Collection called Documentary. The colors I chose coordinate perfectly with the collection!

Here's a video tutorial that shows exactly how I created this layout-

Thanks for visiting! Don't forget to check out the Shimmerz store! Mention my name in the comments to merchant when you place an order and get a free product of your choice! Have a lovely day and I'll be back next month with another shimmery project!

Memory - A romantic layout with Karine

Hi,

I'm sharing today a layout made with products from Shimmerz Paints.

On a Lemoncraft paper previously covered with clear gesso, I applied modeling paste through a stencil. Then, I used two Spritz to add some color to my background: Ruby and Cotton Candy. Next, I stamped and glued my papers and embellishments.

Once everything was glued down, I thought it missed colors, so I grabbed my Inklingz Miner Miner, Sheer Bliss, Beets Me and First Blush, as well as my Creameez Piggy Pink and Berry Hot. I added touches of those colors around my embellishments. I also added a few touches ON some embellishments. You can see an example on my canevas heart from Scrap, Fimo et cie on the picture above.

I made a few drops with my Inklingz and a paint brush.

To make my words stickers pop, I used a touch of pink.

A Mixed Media Scrapbook Page Video Tutorial with Gabrielle

Hello Shimmerz fans!  It's Gabrielle here with you today to share with you a project I made using some really beautiful Shimmerz Paints products!

I was inspired by these adorable Pink Poppy blossoms a friend of mine had sent me (thanks Kim!), so I chose my colors in the pinks/peaches and soft greens.  As always, I love to show you all how this project came together, a sort of step by step.  Enjoy!......

I just love how Shimmerz Paints can be applied in so many different ways, spritzed directly from the bottles, spattered, or used with a paint brush!  Here are some close-ups of this project that you can view at your leisure....

A close up of the floral embellishments used on this page.

I created a color wash on the Dusty Attic chipboard pieces (Poppies) using Shimmerz Sweet Heart Vibez, Peachy Keen Coloringz and Berry Hot Creameez, to create a light watercolor look on the pieces.

I created a unique background design by spritzing some Sweet Heart Vibez, Peachy Keen Coloringz and Don't be Suede Coloringz directly onto my background paper and added some stamping to finish the design.

Here you can see where I applied some of the Don't Be Suede Coloringz to the edges of my embellishments to create a shadow effect.  This is a little trick that helps make the pieces pop.

I hope you enjoyed todays project and hope you feel inspired to try some of these beautiful Shimmerz Paints products. NOTE:  Be sure to mention my name 'Gabrielle' in the 'Instructions to Merchant/seller' part of your next Shimmerz Paints order to receive a FREE/Bonus Shimmerz Paints product in the color of your choice! xo
