Mango Tango Bright Spirits | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman popping in today to share my October color challenge creation. I selected Mango Tango Vibez for the challenge. This is one of those misunderstood colors I think. I've actually put it in my cart at least 7 times, then realized I already owned it, but hadn't used it. As I started playing around with it, I realized where the disconnect was happening. I kept thinking it was a rusty orange (the old website swatch was more orange in color, and mangos are kind of orange right? And hooray for the new website, am I right?). But Mango Tango is actually this gorgeous light red/coral color. Add in the shimmer of Vibez and this is one BEAUTIFUL color!

So I started with the idea of using a stencil with the spray and some paste, but changed gears when I set my stencil down on a page to clean it and fell in love with the resulting ghost print. I jut had to use it, so cut it down to card size and then pounced some Angel Wings Shimmerz randomly around the panel with a stencil brush to create a snowy feel.

I then pulled out the Filled to the Brim stamp set I illustrated and stamped the coffee cup, then watercolored with Mango Tango Vibez and fussy cut.  The sentiment is stamped on a circle die cut, then I layered them together adding in some greenery die cuts from pine cardstock. I pounced on these with more Angel Wings and also flicked some Snow Storm Vibez for a little more texture and depth.

Next I took a newsprint tag from my stash and spritzed with Mango Tango, covered the bottom with a bit of washi tape and then accented with a seam binding bow and a couple jingle bells.

Now it's your turn! Our entire team is trying one color that we normally wouldn’t choose. Something that helps us branch out and grow as designers. Come join us! Use the hashtag #shimmerzcolorchallenge to share your projects and how they inspired you to try something new. We can’t wait to see what you create!

As always, if you feel inspired to do a little shopping in the Shimmerz Shop, leave my name in the comment section of your order for a free surprise.

Hello Card | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz Friendz! It's Julee Tilman popping in to share a shimmery card with you. My hubby's birthday is this week and in the mail he got a card from a company of which we're frequent customers. It was just a plain card with three brushstrokes of paint and a black and white sentiment, but it got the wheels in my head spinning.

I headed up to my studio to try to do my own spin on it. I reached for Freshly Squeezed, Well Blue Me Down and Pink Stilettos, knowing that the pink stilettos would blend well with the other two colors if I used it as the middle swash of paint. I sprayed a bit of each color on my palette and then used a wide wet brush to make the blue and orange swashes, leaving room in between for the pink. When these were dry, I painted in the pink stilettos, overlapping the other two colors.

I then set this aside and pulled out the Petite Poppies Stampz set. I wanted to stick to this same color palette, so chose the blue for the flower, orange for the center of the flower and then mixed the blue and orange together for the stem and leaf. Once everything was dry, I coated with a layer of Angel Wings Shimmerz for that shine we all love, then did a few accents with a white gel pen and fussy cut.

The brick Scrapaholics chipboard piece is coated with gesso so that it would pick up the true color when I sprayed it with the pink stilettos.  When the spray was dry, I pounced on Tidy Widy Texturez in random places to give some depth.  I used some alphabet stamps for the sentiment, then layered it all together and finished with some paint splatters with Burnished Buckle Inklingz.

I hope this project inspires you to take a look at your sprays and experiment with how they'll blend together. The translucency of these sprays make them so fun to layer!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Don't forget, if you place an order in the Shimmerz Shop, be sure to mention my name (Julee Tilman) in the comment section when you place your order for a freebie!

Merry Christmas by Isha Gupta

Hello Shimmerz friendz, Isha here sharing a clean and simple Christmas card with you using the non Christmas floral stamp.

I decided to use the Stampz: Floral Grace to create my card. It's a pretty image I used Creameez: Pining For You and Dandy-Lion; Inklingz: Coral Reef and Honey Do List; Shimmerz: Buddy's Favorite Color

I started by stamping the floral image onto watercolor paper using VesaMark ink and then embossed it using WOW! Gold Pearl embossing powder. I then started coloring the image in layers. First apply light color, blend it with water and then apply the dark layer on top. I then applied some colors around the flower and added a bit of splatters using the same colors. Let this dry.
I really love the shine of the mix of various paints.

I then stamped and embossed a sentiment onto a piece of red cardstock and adhered it to the card.

Here are the products I used:
Stampz: Floral Grace
Creameez: Pining For You and Dandy-Lion
Inklingz: Coral Reef and Honey Do List
Shimmerz: Buddy's Favorite Color

Thank you for stopping by!! Hope you like my creation and got inspired to create Christmas card using non Christmas stamps. If you decide to add some shimmery goodness in your stash, please don't forget to put my name "ISHA GUPTA" in the comments and get a free surprise freebie :)

Good Cheer | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz fans! It's Julee here today to share a little cup of good cheer with you. Shimmerz is sponsoring the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop that's going on now through December 7, so I thought it would be the perfect time to pull out the new Filled to the Brim stamp set.

Speaking of stamp sets, all in-stock stampz are on sale this week in the Shimmerz store! Use promocode STAMPZSALE at checkout for 30% off all stamps. Hurry, though... the sale is limited to stock on hand and ends Friday, December 7.

Go ahead and click on over. I'll wait.  {grin}

This card started with a background experiment. I painted a little Moulin Rouge and some Crimson Tide Shimmerz onto a 3 x 5" gelli plate to see what would happen. I think I watered it down a bit too much, because the result was pretty similar to smooshing it on with an acrylic block. I did two pulls from the plate and this one uses the second print. Next I decided to build up some layers, so I used the Tim Holtz mint stripes layering stencil at a diagonal with Crimson Tide Shimmerz to give it that peppermint stick feel. When that was dry I went in with a Tim Holtz flourish and some Tidy Widy Texturez for a shimmery textured accent.

Next I moved onto the stamping. I embossed the snowflake cup from Filled to the Brim in white onto the first gelli print I pulled and fussy cut.  I added a bit of Coffee Shimmerz to the brim of the cup, then layered it onto a wooden snowflake embellishment that I painted with Silver Bells Shimmerz.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and embossed in silver onto vellum and then hand trimmed in a banner shape.  I finished off with some distressed edges and a little silver clip and bows.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you find a deal you can't pass up in the Shimmerz store, place my name (Julee Tilman) in the order comments so they know who sent ya!

Poinsettia Christmas Card | Melinda

Hello crafty friends,
Melinda here with you today, sharing another card creation featuring the amazing Shimmerz Paints.
Shimmerz Paints Die Cut Stamp Card
My finished cardis a standard A2 top folding size. The base is plain white cardstock. In fact, everything started out with plain white cardstock! I cannot resist starting with plain white cardstock and watching what this amazing product range will do!

poinsettia cu
I created and cut my Poinsettia and border pieces.  I used Honeymoon Inklingz for the flower pieces and Freshly Minted Inklingz for the leaves. I really like the Inklingz range of products. They are so creamy and glide on the paper so smoothly. I added some pearls and a larger embellishment to the centers of my flowers.

flourishes
For the little swirls, I  added some Puttin’ On The Glitz Pasteez. It gives them a soft sparkle without looking too overdone. You can also see the background here. I started with plain white cardstock, ran it through my embossing machine with an embossing folder and then painted it with some Angel’s Kiss and  Misty Morning Inklingz. I then spritzed it with my Jeni B Bleu Vibez. Love all the shimmer and interest it has.

sentiment
Here’s a closer look at my sentiment. It comes from the new Love Never Melts Clear Stamp Set. I layered it onto my border.

small flowe cu
Here’s just another look at the flowers. I cut them in two sizes so I would have one larger flower as my focal point and then have a couple of smaller ones nestled by it.

bow cu
For a final touch, I added a bow from some of my seam binding ribbon. Seems these days all my cards have some of this….rofl!

Here is one last look at my completed card. I really like the way it turned out using some non-traditional Christmas colors!

Sugar Plum and New Stampz | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz fans, it's Julee Tilman, here with my take on this month's color challenge. Each designer has selected a color from the product line to feature in a winter themed project. My chosen color is the beautiful Sugar Plum Shimmerz. I'm sharing two cards featuring this color and some of the fantastic new stampz sets that just released this week! You're going to want to go check them out right now. I'll wait! {grin}

My first card uses the new Filled to the Brim stampz. I painted the cup and saucer image with Sugar Plum and Buddy's Favorite Color Shimmerz, Palm Reader  and Elfin' Magic Vibez, and See Ya Latte' Spritz. I fussy cut the cup and acccented with a  white gel pen and a little crystal clear gloss.

Next I set to work on a background for the card. I stenciled Sugar Plum onto watercolor paper with the All Over Snowflakes Hot of the Press stencil. Once this was dry, I sponged some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink over the background to give a winter glow.

For the circle behind the cup, I sponged a bit of Colder than Ice Shimmerz, then embossed the snowflake from the Filled to the Brim set with tumbled glass distress oxide ink and clear embossing powder. The sentiment is stamped in seedless preserves distress oxide on another circle die cut.  I embellished with a wooden snowflake I painted in Sugar Plum and then accented with a flatback pearl.  A seam binding bow sports a little duo of glittered jingle bells to finish things off.

My next card features the adorable new Snow Amazing stamp set. I first stamped the snowman image on watercolor paper and got to work painting him with Sugar Plum and Royal Purple shimmerz. I mixed a bit of the sugar plum to cold as ice shimmerz and then watered it down to do the shading on the snowman. I've never done purple shading on a snowman before, but it works! 😃 Next I fussy cut around him, leaving off the more difficult to cut branches and birdies to stamp on a different layer.

I then inked up the image just from the ornaments upward and stamped onto a piece of watercolor paper. I colored them with Shimmerz paints, then made a quick mask and taped off a section for a starry background. I then did a wash with Colder than Ice and when it had dried, I used a falling stars layering stencil to add Winter's Mist stars to the background. I then peeled up the tape and  added my fussy cut snowman over the top with collage medium. The branches are done in So Sappy Shimmerz and the carrot nose in Pumpkin Shimmerz.

The sentiment is stamped onto a vellum circle and I accented with a couple of chipboard snowflakes from the Scrapaholics Let it Snow set. I painted them with a coat of Colder than Ice and then accented each with a rhinestone. A seam binding bow across the bottom finishes things off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you place an order in the Shimmerz store, remember to put my name, Julee Tilman, in the comments to recieve a free little gift!

Simply Enjoy Card | Melinda Beltran

Hello Shimmerz friends,
Melinda here with you today and I am super excited to share another fun card.
Simply enjoy card1b
Here’s a look at my finished card. It is a top folding A2 size card. I started with a white cardstock base. ALL of the elements actually started as white cardstock. I set about creating my various elements and then cut them all out.

flowers cu
Here is a closer view of the pretty flowers. I used some Marigold Shimmerz paint for the flower petals. For the centers, I used some Oakie Dokie Creameez paint. Once it was dry,I ran it through my die cut machine with my Alligator embossing folder to give it some of those fun “bumps” for dimension. For the leaves I used some Green Olive Shimmerz paint and for the flourishes, I used some Coffee Shimmerz paint.

shimmer shot
Here you can kind of see all of the beautiful shimmer through out the card. For the two mats, I spritzed some Jenni B Bleu and Glorious Day Vibez to get that beautiful shimmered background.

stamp cu
Once I adhered the white decorative frame to the mat, I applied some of the Puttin’ on the Glitz Pasteez to add some overall sparkle to it. I then stamped the sentiment from the Simply Enjoy stamp set with some brown ink. I cut it out of an oval scallop stitched die and then mounted on top of my white decorative frame. I added some little Nuvo drops to frame it.

bow edge
Here’s a closer look at the pretty bow and the decorative frame. You can also see some o the background paper and how pretty that Jenni B Bleu and Glorious Day Vibez Sprays "shimmerz" through.
