Art journal page Love yourself | Rocío López

Hi!!

Rocío here with a new project to inspire you to use your paints. In this ocasion I've created an art journal page. I think that art journal gives you a freedom to create that other projects don't and I get so much fun when I am creating one page.

In the background I added some scraps of decorated paper to get some texture. Then I applied a coat of gesso and draw my whimsical face.

One I had my girl, I started to play with my Shimmerz's paints to add color to the background and to the girl. I used Vibez Deep Blue Sea, Vibez Grape Escape, Shimmerz Peacock's Plume, Inklingz Green Goddess and Inkling Plum Crazy for the background.

For the girl I used: Inkling Lover's Lips, Shimmerz Magenta, Inklingz Green Goddess and Dazzlerz Tutti Frutti.

When I got the background and the girl colored, I used a few stencils with Dazzlerz Tutti Frutti, Dazzlerz Sea U in the Mornin', Dazzlerz Grapetastic and modeling paste to get more texture.

Of course, I had to use my new Stampz! I used the set Fresh Start in some places around the border with black permanent ink (Archival).

Now I leave you with some close ups of the details and the process video.

Journal With Irit- Fast & Easy Art Journal Tutorial

Hi! Irit here with my monthly project, and this time I have a super fast and easy, but oh so pretty art journal spread to share with you!

I loved making this, because using Coloringz sprays just made the entire process so so easy. I used my favorite colors, Pink Stilettos, Pretty in Pink, No Yoking, Don't Citron me, and Oh Say Can You Sea. After the first layer was dry, I added some pen doodles and watercolors, but using a brush and dipping it straight into the bottle of Coloringz would work just as well.

Check out the video tutorial I created for this month!

Don't forget to mention my name when placing an order, you'll receive a freebie!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

Abstract Finger-painting using AcriTonez and Pastes | Zinia Amoiridou

Hello once again shimmery friends! It's Zinia here and today I want to share with you another abstract art journaling page I created using a mix of AcriTonez and some Shimmerz Pastes.

So before we get to the fun part let me tell what colors I used on this page:
  • AcriTonez - 3 Sheets to the wind
  • AcriTonez - Jiven Jade
  • AcriTonez - Blue My Top
  • AcriTonez - Pinkadelic
  • AcriTonez - Roses Are Red...
  • Dazzlerz - Gummy Berry Blue
  • Dazzlerz - Lemon Drop
  • PASTE-EEZ - Tree Hugger
  • PASTE-EEZ - Hold the Mustard

To begin, I used a plastic palette and mixed my own shades using the colors I mentioned above. I wanted to have a pastel palette with a few pops of bright colors. (I'd definitely recommend watching the video for some great tips on creating your own color palette and mixing colors.)

I roughly added a thin layer of gesso using a palette knife leaving all sorts of messy marks to create texture. Then I started dipping my fingers in the paint and spreading the color all over the page.

There's something really special about having physical contact with your art work. It becomes much more personal plus it's really a lot of fun to use your hands and fingers to apply the paint :).
The whole process was really intuitive and I wasn't really thinking about composition or shapes, I just wanted to add color on my page.

I tried to lay down the color without over blending it, creating interesting strokes and texture.

Thank you so much for joining me today. I really hope you enjoyed the process of this page. If you got inspired and you plan on ordering some yummy Shimmerz products make sure to mention my name "Zinia" at the comment section of your order to receive a FREE Shimmerz product!

Art Journaling With AcriTonez & Paste-Eez

Hi! Irit here and I'm so excited to share this art journal spread I created using some of the new goodies from Shimmerz! Here's my finished project-

I started with a thin layer of AcriTonez in Pinkadelic, Jiven Jade and Blue My Top. I let it dry, which took no time at all, these dry fast, which works really well with art journaling and impatient people (like me). I added many layers and had lots of fun! The paints mixed perfectly with white paint from my stash. I also used the new Paste-Eez, which are flat pastes, as in no shimmer (for shimmer try the Dazzlers or Texturez), but I used them as paint, and that worked great!

On the top layers I added some Coloringz in Mandarin Mai Tai. You can see my entire process in the video!

Here's the video tutorial I created-

Explore the Untaken Path Art Journal Spread

Hi Shimmerz Peeps,

It's Katie here today sharing my very first art journal spread... Wanted to get myself started with this kind of art form but I didn't till very recently...

Our nation's first Prime Minister and founding father Mr. Lee Kuan Yew passed away this Monday morning, and whole nation is mourning for this week... I'm one of the earlier generations whom had benefited from the various policies he legislated during the early 90s... I am deeply sadden by his demise and his legacy puts me into great thoughts... He was one such great leader where he took the untaken path and brought Singapore to where She is today...

This journal spread, Explore the Untaken Path serves as a memorial on the great work Mr. Lee had done, his bravery and courage to challenge the uncertainties...

Art Journalling in unexpected places

Welcome to The Blog today!

Today I am sharing an Art Journal page.  A little Shimmerz, A bit of hand lettering.  A lovely bit of text.

I used Coloringz in No Yolking, and Mandarin Mai Tai
and Spritz in Mango Madness.

You can journal anywhere, In your Diary or Journal, in your Daily Planner, in your Art Journal (of course!!!)  This just happens to be in my Bible., But you can use any book at all.

Just prep the surface if need be (I used Gesso here as the pages are thin.)  It totally prevents bleeding through.....I mixed in a little Patterned Paper, some Alpha stickers, some letter stamps.....
As always Art Journaling allows you to contemplate, to soul search and let your art out with your thoughts and ideas.  It doesn't have to be any particular theme, it can be personal, it can be great song lyrics, it can be just a quote you like.
All in all its a great way to clear your head and be calm! (in my otherwise super busy world!!!)

Hope you are having a great day! :-)

Hi Crafters :)

Today I want to share with you guys an altered canvas I made for Shimmerz. The color theme I am going for is red, yellow and purple. I added some green and turquoise color as well just to break the warmness the canvas has.

I sprayed the background with No Yoking (coloringz), Princess (Vibez), and Grape Escape (Vibez) first. Then I cut out some sticky back fabric strips and layered them onto the canvas. I then sprayed the same colors onto the fabric strips.

Here is the start-to-finish video:

The cute wood door and spoon are from SaCrafters and the wing and gears are from Creative Embellishment. I colored each embellishment with different art medium to make them match the color theme, and give them more texture.

These two metal filigree flowers are inspired by Cynthialoowho on youtube. I colored the flower with Jilted Jade and Periwinkle (shimmerz). Like I mentioned before, I used some blue and turquoise color to break the super warm theme.

I had so much fun creating this canvas, hope you like it too :)))
