A Special Delivery for Christmas | Amanda Baldwin

Hi Shimmerz Friends!

Welcome back for more colorful and painty inspiration!
Amanda here, and today I am sharing my take on the November Color Challenge.
This month's challenge has a Winter Wonderland theme to it - so it's all our fave icicle colors and shimmering delights!
My color of choice is the gorgeous Texturez: Patina color, and here's why.......

"Merry Christmas"

Oh.my.heart! Isn't this just divine?!!
Meet out special delivery, ( and a lil early) Christmas present - our new mini Dachshund puppy!
Isn't he just adorable?!! Puppy Love!
& talk about a one color wonder!
Texturez Patina is just sensational!!! A perfect color for all your Christmas creations!
I've applied it around the border of my white cardstock base, using a repeat snowflake pattern and palette knife. Once dry, I then add two larger snowflake stencils with the pretty light green Patina color. LOVE!!!

Texturez paints are just incredible!
They boast the sheen of our Dazzlerz paints with an added textural element.
Think Dazzlerz with a coarse, sand like substance within them.
So gritty, dimensional and WOW!
You can check out ALL the fabulous Texturez Colors HERE

Let's take a closer look at that amazing Patina color.....

So.much.gorgeousness!!!
I've teamed our pretty mint Patina with Crate Paper's Fa La La collection, and let's just say, it's a match made in heaven!
I just adore the fresh mint, white and red color scheme! Beautiful!

Just look at all that dimension! Stunning!

That grittyness is a texture lover's dream!
And the color intensity is all kinds of awesomeness! So vibrant!

We're All About The Color, and Texturez Patina is all that and more!
I hope I have inspired you to add this amazing color to your mixed media kit!

We Click | Niki Rowland

Hey Shimmerz Fanz! Niki back with you today with a new layout and process video.
I started off by choosing a paper collection and a cut file. The cut file is by Paige Evans and is called 'Split Circles Background' in case you want to go find it. I cut this on Marshmallow cardstock which is a heavy duty card so that it could take lots of beautiful Shimmerz products without warping too much. The paper collection I chose was Wild Heart by Crate Paper and I then pulled out all the Shimmerz products I own to see which ones matched the Wild Heart collection - I pulled out a whole bunch as I wanted to pull through lots of the colours from the collection onto my background.

Take a look at the process video below to see exactly how I created the background but I'll try to explain it here too: I cut the cut file but left it stuck to my cutting mat. I then applied lots of Shimmerz products (listed below) starting with pinks, changing to yellows, then greens. I used a mix of Dazzlerz, Texturez, Spritz, Vibez, Coloringz and Shimmerz. Some I applied with a palette knife and some with a paintbrush and some I smooshed on using the packaging technique. With it all stickk stuck to my cutting mat I left it to dry.

Once my background was dry I pulled the negative part of the cut file off the mat, leaving all the small positive pieces still on the mat. I stuck the negative part over the top of another sheet of white card and held it in place with tape. I then applied foam pads through each of the holes, then picked off each positive piece and stuck them back through the negative part that I was using like a stencil. Once they were all stuck in place, I carefully peeled off the negative part which left me with all the positive pieces perfectly in place on a white background.  If you can't get your head around that, check out the process video below!

I then added my photo and embellishments and of course lots of sequins by Spiegelmom Scraps. I add sequins to almost every layout and the ones by Spiegelmom Scraps are by far my favourite ones - they add gorgeous little details and extra sparkle!

You can view my process video of this layout here:

Precious Moments | Niki Rowland

Hiya Shimmerz Fanz! Niki here with you today with this layout that I've created by making a messy background and also colouring a cut file.

I started off by making the water colour style background using various colours of Vibez: Sweet Heart, Pop Art Pink and Jeni B Blue, and one Spritz in Cotton Candy. I Also added watered down Dazzlerz Sea U in the Morning' and Tutti Frutti, both with the packaging technique in the same way as I added the sprays.

I set the background aside to dry and then set about colouring the cut file. I simply used my finger to apply Dazzlers and Texturez straight from the jars. I used Tutti Frutti, Dreamscicle, Crushed Coral and Sea U in the Mornin'. I also mixed Tutti Frutti and Dreamsicle together to form a new colour and added that too. I coloured the whole of the cut file, but kept the colours as pale as possible.

While that was drying, I fussy cut half-heart shapes to back-fill the cut file with. I didn't back fill every openeing as I wanted some of the background to show through the cut file.

I then added the cut file over the background but the bright pink was a little too bright so I then arranged my photos and a frame onto my layout over that bright area to dull it down a bit! I added lots of embellishments and that dark tag to bring in the dark colour of my little girl's uniform.

Thanks so much for joining me today - there is a process video of this layout too which you can view below.

Products used:
Vibez: Jeni B Blue, Sweet Heart, Pop Art Pink
Spritz: Cotton Candy
Dazzlerz: Sea U in the Mornin', Tutti Frutti, Dreamsicle
Texturez: Crushed Coral

Adventure | Niki Rowland

Hi there! It's Niki back with you today and today I am sharing a layout I made using a cut file and lots of lovely Shimmerz Products!

I started off by cutting the Adventure cut file on my Silhouette (which is from the Silhouette Store and is by Paige Evans). I cut it on Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock which is designed to be heavyweight and to be able to cope with lots of messy stuff. My background is also a sheet of Marshmallow cardstock.

I began with my background sheet first, and added three shades of pink to the background using the packaging technique. I used Vibez Pop Art Pink, Sweetheart and Spritz Cotton Candy. I then wanted to add some yellow so added Vibez Sunset Strip, also with the packaging technique. I wanted some areas of more intense colour so sprayed directly onto the layout with Sunset Strip in some places. I added loads of splatters using the same colours.

While my background was drying, I painted my cut file. I mixed Dazzlerz Lemon Drop with Texturez Gold Mine and a spray of Sunset Strip Vibez and painted the whole cut file in this colour. I then went back over each letter and added a low-light of Texturez Gold Mine.

Once my background and cut file were dry I stuck my cut file to my background, raised up on foam pads. I then added my photo stack to the right of the cut file and then started embellishing.

I embellished using a number of random items from older collections, just what I had in my stash really and things I wanted to get used up. It's amazing what you can pull together from a 'use it or loose it'  collection of embellishments!

I have a process video for you of today's layout:

Products used:
Vibez: Pop Art Pink, Sweetheart, Sunset Strip
Spritz: Cotton Candy
Dazzlers: Lemon Drop
Texturez: Gold Mine

Dream a Little Dream | Niki Rowland

Hey there Shimmerz Fanz! It's Niki back with you today and I am sharing a very busy and colourful layout. I started by cutting a Sunburst cut file (available in the Silhouette Design Store and it's by Paige Evans) which I cut into a sheet of 12x12, and layered over another sheet of 12x12 and then I used it as a stencil.

I added lots of colours of Dazzlers and Textures, mixing some of them together to create new colours, and also mixing with some Vibes sprays too for even MORE colours! I also sprayed directly onto my stencil with Vibez in some places too. As soon as my stencil had been covered, I removed it straight away before it dried too much, I needed to lift it away while it was still wet so it didn't get stuck.

My stencil was only made from cardstock so I didn't expect the finished result to be perfect but it wasn't bad! There was only bleeding in a few places, mainly where I had sprayed with Vibez, rather than had used the pastes. I left my background to dry and did some fussy cutting of a sheet of hearts paper while I was waiting.

Once dry I added more colour using my Vibes sprays and the packaging technique. I smooshed some more colour on over on the left side of the sunburst to add a water colour look and to act as an area to put my photo stack. I then added all those fussy cut hearts, around the circle, pretty much all raised up on foam pads.

I'd added some splatters with my Vibes but had a few stray marks where I didn't want them (D'oh, dont' you hate it when that happens!) so went looking for something to cover them up and found a big gold doily - perfect! I added a few layers behind my photo and added more hearts and embellishments.

I then went totally crazy on embellishments, more hearts and sequins and finished off with a small amount of journaling. What a crazy layout! I had such fun making it!

See my process video below:

The products I've used are:
Dazzlerz: Sea U in the Mornin', Sour Apple, Foiled Again, Tutti Frutti, Lemon Drop
Texturez: Crushed Coral, Gold Mine, The Tide that Binds
Spritz: Cotton Candy
Vibez: Jeni B Blue, Pop Art Pink, Deep Blue Sea, Sweet Heart, Snow Way Man.

'Be You' by Niki Rowland: Mixing Products

Hey there Shimmerz Fans! Niki here with you today with this layout that I made using lots of different Shimmerz products.

Firstly I was inspired by the a paper from one of the recent Pinkfresh collections and decided to use that as a base to my layout. I cut part of it out and then placed it onto a white background. My plan was to extend the coloured strips of paper with mixed media products.

I started off by using the packaging technique to apply Vibez in Pop Art Pink and Deep Blue Sea to the white background, as well as some Jilted Jade original Shimmerz. I kept testing out my paper against the background I was creating.

I then added different Dazzlers through stencils in similar colours, again extending the coloured areas. I used Dreamscicle, Sea U in the Mornin', and then I needed a rose gold colour which I didnt have in my stash, so I mixed Foiled Again, Gold Mine and Tutti Fruiti together to create this rose-gold. I then applied this through a stencil too. I then watered it down so that I could use it to add splatters.

Once my background was done and dry, I then added my photo, bits and pieces of ephemera and puffy stickers. I left no room for journaling so added that in right at the very top of the layout.

I hope you've enjoyed my layout today, there is a process video too that can be viewed below.

Crafty Friends Card Set | Rubeena I.

Hello, Rubeena here from A Rare Ruby with my very first post as new Creative Design Team member! Today, I’ll be sharing a set of cards I created that focus on the gorgeous Dazzlerz and Textures, which are shimmering dimensional pastes. Typically, pastes are known to be used with stencils and mixed media projects. After a year-plus long hiatus from crafting, however, I decided to use the pastes as "paints." I will list all supplies at the end of the blog post to make it easiest for everyone.

First, I picked out an assortment of colors that I thought I would play with.

Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_
I used watercolor brushes to color rose die-cuts and A2 size watercolor paper. When I first started coloring, I wasn't sure what kind of cards or layouts I would create. I let the ideas come to me while crafting all day. Once all the pieces were dry, I die-cut some large words from an alphabet die set in white, black and gold glitter cardstock. I also heat embossed various sentiments perfect for crafty friends! Then, I set about making as many cards as I could since I had a lot of pieces created. I even created a shaker card!

Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ Rubeena_Shimmerz_Jan12_ You'll notice the textured look as well as shimmers on pretty much every card! These pastes made me feel like a true artist, letting my creative juices flow. To get a lighter look, I simply added water when I created some of these backgrounds.

These are perfect to give to crafty friends, which I plan on doing! I hope you were inspired by my projects. I look forward to sharing more with you in the year to come! Thank you so much for stopping by today!

Cheer Captured | Adrienne Alvis

Hello crafty friends! I'm here with a festive layout that I created using one of my favorite holiday photos and some beautiful Shimmerz paints

To begin, I used a piece of white card stock and some Acritonez, which is a self-priming acrylic paint with a matte finish, in "3 Sheets to the Wind" as a base for my design and to help the Vibez and Coloringz colors pop! I used a piece of leftover packaging to create the design that you can see below...

I chose the Coloringz, which are non-shimmering, in "Pretty in Pink" and "Oh Say Can U Sea" because the colors coordinated so well with the patterned paper that I chose for my layout! I also added some Vibez in "Cold As Ice", (which is currently unavailable) because it was the perfect shade of blue and added some shimmer to my page.

As you can see in the photo above, I also added some Texturez shimmering, dimensional paste in Crushed Coral to my design by spreading it over a stencil that matched the design of the patterned paper that I chose to use.

I completed my design by adding a title to my photo and by placing some glittery pops of red around my page. I really love incorporating non-traditional Christmas colors on my holiday layouts!

I hope everyone had a fabulous and festive holiday season! Thank you so much for joining me today!
