Color Kitz April Collection | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all!  Brianna Lepper here and I'm back with another layout using this months Color Kitz!  The April Collection is so pretty and is so perfect to use to document your Spring photos!  For $30.95 + shipping here's what you'll get this month!

  • Something Like Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a blue watercolor with a grey undertone. Much like cloudy skies on a rainy day
  • Wave of Blue Inklingz: A new exclusive color to this kit. This color is a medium denim blue jeans water color
  • Cold as Ice Vibez
  • Chick-A-Dee Spritz
  • Don't Citron Me Coloringz
  • Limoncello Shimmerz
  • 1 exclusive Sweet Rainbow cut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 package of daisy buttons
  • 1 set of "Sunshine mixed with a Little Hurricane" Dotz
  • 1 set of Shimmerz Paints Stencil with dewdrops

Here's my layout for this month!

To get started, I prepped a piece of Bazzill Marshmallow cardstock with some white gesso.  I then applied the gorgeous new colors in the kit: Waves of Blue and Someone Like Blue Inklingz.  I also splattered and painted on the Cold As Ice Vibez.  I wanted some color peeking behind the cut file!  Once it was all dry, I took the Dewdrop stencil and applied some Tidy Widy Texturez through it right on top of the blue paints. I love all of the texture!

I then cut the cut file out on some white textured cardstock on my Silhouette Cameo 3.  As soon as it was done cutting, I knew I had to create little shakers in the hearts and that the cute Daisy Buttons from the kit needed to be added!

This cut file is very delicate, so I had to be very careful applying the thin foam tape around each heart and the Daisy Buttons are pretty thick, so I had to use 3 layers of the foam tape to make sure the Daisies and SpiegelMom Scraps sequins would be able to move and shake freely.  I went ahead and backed the rest of the rainbow in rainbow color order using a patterned paper from Paige Evans Bloom Street collection.

Since my layout was starting to come together with the Dewdrops and the Rainbow cut file, I knew I needed a Sun!  So, I took the Chick-a-Dee Spritz and Limoncello Shimmerz and applied both to some cardstock and did the same with the Don't Citron Me Coloringz since I wanted to create some leaves with it.  I traced the sun and fussy cut it out and tucked it behind the rainbow.

I pulled a few punches and punched out some leaves shapes from the sprayed green cardstock.  I fussy cut some floral pieces from another piece of patterned paper from Bloom Street and tucked the punched leaves here and there.

Next, I grabbed the You Are My Sunshine Dotz and adhered 2 down onto my page.  I added some tangled thread underneath each one to give it even more texture.

Look at all of those layers!

I then added a simple title and that finished off my layout!

Thank y'all so much for stopping by today!  I hope I've inspired you in some way! I truly enjoy working with the Color Kitz each month and hope that you'll tag me in the projects that you create with them!  When placing your next order, don't forget to add my name in the notes/comments section of your order and you'll receive a free gift!

Color Challenge - Don't Citron Me | Kelly Janes

Hey there, friends! Have you taken part in the Autumn Shimmerz Color Challenge? The color I chose, for this challenge, is Don't Citron Me Coloringz. I find green to be a challenging color and it's definitely not something I naturally gravitate towards, so I knew it would be a great color to choose for the challenge!

I started my 12x12 scrapbook layout by adding a layer of clear gesso to the background. I then used heavy black gesso with a spiderweb stencil to add a bit of detailing to the background. I then took the Don't Citron Me Coloringz and sprayed it directly onto the background.

Once the green was dry, I sprayed Ruby Spritz and Lil' Yellow Skool Bus Coloringz onto a scrap piece of packaging. I mixed those colors together with a paintbrush to create a deep orange color and then used the packaging technique to add that color to the background in a few different areas. I think it's so fun to add the color to the background using different techniques (packaging technique, using a paintbrush, spraying directly on the background, etc.)! You get a different look with each technique!

I then moved onto embellishing. I grabbed multiple Halloween themed embellishments and 4 photos of my kiddo when he was trick or treating. I had so much fun layering the embellishments on the background! I love how the mixed media background peeks out from behind the photos and embellishments!

Now you can take a look at my process video!

I hope you'll play along with the challenge this month! Remember to use the hashtag #shimmerzcolorchallenge when posting online!

Design Team Traveler's Notebook

Hello All! Miranda here, I am excited to be sharing my first official Shimmerz Paints blog post!

The background is simple and easy to do because I picked three colors from my stash of Shimmerz Paints along with a Paste-eez and two stencils!  I just went to town on making it the sea urchins come to life.
Since my Travelers Notebook for my Design Team Resume isn't the greatest paper, I used clear gesso for my base, and then I got out two little bowls with  Paste-eez Puttin' On the Glitz; Coloringz Don't Citron Me and Mama Sings the Blues !!  Mixed it together, after it was mixed, I grabbed my two stencils started getting messy with them.

I do dry between colors and stencils so I didn't mess the design up!  Once it was all dry, I grabbed Field Notes from Vicki Bouton and fussy cut some butterflies and few other little times to start the emblessment part of the spread!
I finished off with little splattering from Spritz You're the Zest (this one has become new favorite for splattering at the end of each layout)! By doing the little splattering at the end of each layout it add just that last touch!
I hope you can find some inspiration of my Treveler's Notebook Spread, even if you don't prefer doing this type of layout!  Make sure you mention my name, Miranda, in the comments to recieve a Shimmerz Freebie!!

PS -- here is finished process video for you to enjoy on the Shimmerz Paints YouTube.

This Beautiful Moment | Brianna Lepper

Hey y'all! Bri here with a soft and pretty boy layout for you!  As soon as I saw this floral paper by Pinkfresh Studio, I knew that I wanted to paint them with different Shimmerz colors.  Did you know that Shimmerz is now carrying the newly released stencils by Paige Evans?  You can find them here. I used the heart one on my background!

To start, I painted the floral pieces with these colors:

Creameez:
Just Peachie
Purple Peony
Piggy Pink

Inklingz:
Oakie Bear Blue

Vibez:
Velveteen Green
Sweetheart

Coloringz:
Don't Citron Me

After the flowers were dry, I fussy cut each one out and put them aside to layer up later.

To create my background, I took some white cardstock and added white gesso to it.  After it dried, I took the heart stencil and applied some Shimmerz Pasteez, that unfortunately are no longer available in the shop.  Dazzlerz and Texturez are a great alternative, so definitely go and pick some up!!!

After the Pasteez dried, I started adding on my colors.  I used the same colors that I used to paint the flowers with.

Creameez:
Just Peachie
Purple Peony
Piggy Pink

Inklingz:
Oakie Bear Blue

I wanted to keep the embellishing pretty simple so I layered up the floral pieces around my photo and added a sweet and elegant title.  To finish off my layout, I added some sequins from SpiegelMom Scraps and a few enamel dots.

Check out my process video below and don't forget to add my name in the comments/notes section of your order and you'll receive a free gift! Thanks for stopping by and we will catch you next time!!

Journal With Irit- Fast & Easy Art Journal Tutorial

Hi! Irit here with my monthly project, and this time I have a super fast and easy, but oh so pretty art journal spread to share with you!

I loved making this, because using Coloringz sprays just made the entire process so so easy. I used my favorite colors, Pink Stilettos, Pretty in Pink, No Yoking, Don't Citron me, and Oh Say Can You Sea. After the first layer was dry, I added some pen doodles and watercolors, but using a brush and dipping it straight into the bottle of Coloringz would work just as well.

Check out the video tutorial I created for this month!

Don't forget to mention my name when placing an order, you'll receive a freebie!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a lovely day!

But First, Ice Cream | Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new project using some lovely Shimmerz goodies. Ink Sprays are my go to supplies. Keep on reading for all the details!
Here's my finished layout-

What I love about ink sprays like Coloringz and Vibez is how easy it is to get a gorgeous look in absolutely no time at all.
To create this background I used a stencil (it's actually an old specialty paper that looks like a stencil, you can see it in the video tutorial) and a mixture of sprays. Coloringz in Mama sings the blues & Don't citron me, Vibez in Razzledazzle berry and Spritz in Ruby.

Supplies used: Patterned paper by Glitz Designs, Ephemera by Scrapbook- Werkstatt, puffy stickers by Pink Paislee Oh My Heart collection.

Here's the video tutorial I created showing how this came together-

Don't forget to mention my name when placing an order on the Shimmerz website!

Our Sweet Girl by Karine Gagnon

Hi there, crafty friends,

I'm here today, on the blog, to share my first layout for the month of May. Here it is:

As always, my first step is to cover the entire background with clear gesso.

Next, I used The ''Cream'' Team Paste-Eez through a grid stencil. I love the effect I got!

I needed some freshness because spring, in my part of the world (I live in Quebec city, Canada) is shy and we have sooooo much rain. I chose to brighten my day with Don't Citron Me Coloringz. This color (the lighter green) makes me so happy!

To give more depth to the color, I used another shade of green: Palm Reader Vibez. I chose some grid chipboards too (Grid Panel from 2Crafty Chipboard)and embellished with green, black and white embellishments. My title piece, "Our Sweet Girl", is also from 2Crafty Chipboard.
