Bloom and grow | Anna Komenda

Hello Shimmerz fans. It's Anna here with my next project created with gorgeous Shimmerz paints and mists. Today I want to share with you a floral page with pretty cut file. The color palette I chose for this page is not typical for me. I usually prefer much brighter shaded with a lot of pink and yellow :)

I was inspired by the picture of my daughter wearing a blue T shirt having all the flowers and trees in the background.

I stared with creating a background using mists and paints applied directly to the paper without adding any gesso. I also added a fun layer of glittery Pasteez through the stencil.

Using mists like paints by applying them with brush is my favorite way of spreading my supplies. You can easily mix Spritz and Vibez with Inklingz and Creameez and you will get pretty watercolor effects.

As always I have a process video for you. You can follow me and recreate this page.

Spring flowers | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with new art journal page. I can't wait for the sprint to come and color this grey world around me. I hate winter and it's always hard for me to stay cheerful during long winter evenings. I am trying to stay positive by making a lot of rainbow projects including my latest art journal page. I was inspired by the flowers I was and I wanted to try making them in my journal.

I started this spread with mists applied with brush like watercolor.

After sketching few flowers I applied white acrylic paint first. Then I mixed leftover mists with some more white paint and I received new, fun acrylics

Between each layer I used my heat gun to dry the page. It prevented flowers from smudging. I finished flowers using colorful Shimmerz paints.

As always I recorded a video for you, so you can follow my process.

Don't forget to mention my name "Anna" while placing an order in Shimmerz Shop. You will get free mini product. How cool is that?

Here is the list of Shimmerz products I used in my project:

Brrr | Anna Komenda

Hello mixed media fans. It's Anna here with my shiny and frosty project. I used Shimmerz mists and paints to create a winter page full of sparkly snowflakes. I chose a picture of my daughter playing with snow and throwing it into the air. It was cold but sunny day and snow sparkled beautifully.

Using sparkly mists helped me to highlight the winter glow and frost. I used four different shaded of blue to make my snowflakes. I love how all the Vibez combine together.

It's hard to show how sparkly my background is. Shimmerz paints are filled with a lot of shimmering powder and it's so easy to add shine to you projects using them. They also dry with a glossy type of finish.

With background as pretty as that and with so much effort put into making it, you don't want to cover it with embellishments :) That's why I added only few of them here and there.

I am happy how it turned out. As always I have a process video for you.

Hello sunshine | Anna Komenda

Hello Shimmerz fans. It's Anna here with my first Shimmerz based project in 2018. I am tired of making winter / Christmas projects and I was so happy to be able to come back to my favourite pink and other girly colors.

I was inspired by the cut file. I even had a perfect picture to go with it. Background is created entirely with gorgeous Shimmerz products. I mixed mist with white acrylic paint to get some new, fun shade.

I also added colorfyl flowers under the cut file using sparkly Shimmerz.

Bruskstrokes created with Dazzlerz are also a great idea to add texture and shimmer to your pages.

As always, you can watch whole process in the video below:

Art journal "Drawing faces" | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with my last project this year. It's been a great journey for me and luckily I will continue it next year. So be warn :D I will back back here at least 12 more times :)
I have something unusual for you today - an art journal spread. I haven't art journal for ages. I simply doesn't have time for that but I really enjoyed doing it in the past. I follow some very inspiring ladies on Instagram like Mindy Lacefield, Jave Davenport and Irit Landgraf. They draw pretty girls and I wanted to try this for my own. This is my result. It's definitely not perfect. I am no a painter at all. I just wanted to feel this pure joy of making my own girls.

This was my fist attempt and I recorded it. I really need to learn how to draw eyes and hair. But practise makes perfect, right? I even ordered a new journal.
Here is a video:

And here is my second try with drawing a girl. I like this one much better but the cat is my favourite. Maybe I should start drawing animals instead of people :)
I used many fantastic Shimmerz products like Creemez, Inklingz, Vibez and Spritz. They all work like watercolors and adding them layer by layer was a real pleaure.

That is all for today. Thank you for stopping by. As it is my last post this year I want to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Birthday girl with Anna Komenda

Hello Shimmerz fans. It's Anna here with my November inspiration. Can you believe that it's almost a year since I joined Shimmerz Team? Now you too have a chance because Shimmerz is having a DT call!!! Don't forget to send your application. You have time till December 11'th.
Today I want to share with you delicate and soft layout with mixed media background.

I used few Cremeez and Inklingz to create this background. I simply applied them on slightly wet watercolor paper. This kind of a paper is a key when you want to get those soft transitions between colors. It can handle much more water and doesn't dry so fast like regular cardstock.

I like adding splashes with mists. I simply unscrew the mister and splash with the tube.

With mixed media background you don't need much of papers to create stunning page. I used patterned paper to fussy cut flowers and use them as embellishments.

Cremeez and Inklingz are very sparkly and they look so pretty after they are dry,

As always there is a process video for you :)

Rainbow and wreath | Anna Komenda

Hello mixed media fans. It's Anna here with my next fun and colorful project featuring some pretty Shimmerz stuff. I created a rainbow layout using mists and paints and I must say I love how it turned out.

As always I have a process video for you.

I used mists in few vivid colors to create a colorful edge on my page. I left the center part white. This is the exact opposite of what I usually do on my project but it was so fun to try.

It was this type of the layout that was calling for some wreath inside this colorful frame. I fussy cut many flowers and placed them around my white space.

I added random embellishments in matching colors to highlight this rainbow scheme.

I also added fun splashes using Shimmerz Paints for more messy effect. Rainbow designs are always my favourite and they are so fun to make. Dirty fingers in all colors of the rainbow are the sigh of good creative process.

That's it for today. Now grab your mists and spray your own rainbows. If you are missing some colors and plan some shopping, don't forget to mention my name ti get a free mini product!

Here are the products I used in my project:

Thank you for stopping by and see you in November.

Queen of the beach | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with my August project and process video. Summer is my favourite season and I love creating summery, colorful pages. I am also a big fan of latest flamingo, pineapple and cacti trend. I do not travel to the very exotic places but still I like to use them on my pages.
Today I went crazy with pink and flamingos and I created a whole flamingo background.

I used Silhouette Cameo cut outs as my stencil. It's a really fun way to extend your possibilities. You can use a whole background stencil or just a small elements. This kind of stencil won't last long but let's be honest - how often do you use the same stencil? And I can still use the flamingos in second project :)

With those pretty birdies in the background I had to minimize the composition around my picture. I didin't want to cover too much. I use only small scrap of paper as a frame for my picture and some smaller die cuts to embellish page a little.

I also added some little hearts using a stencil and a Dazzlerz paste. It works perfect with details and I love how shiny it is. It looks like cotton candy. I also add yellow splatters using Shimmerz paint.

As always I have a video for you. The page is very easy and simple to make so the video isn't long. I hope it will inspire you to play with your mists and stencils.

That's all for today. Thank you for stopping by and see you in September with another project and video.

Trouble maker by Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with my July inspiration. I made another girly page in juicy colors. I love combination of yellow and pink and I use it quite often in my projects. They are a perfect match for my younger daughter. She is such a cutie but she is also very bossy, always has her own opinion and she is not easy to cooperate. My older daughter was always such a graceful child, easy to work with so the contrast between them two is quite a shock for me :D

I used Aqua Huez and creameez to create one part of the background. I also used white Paste-eez for the first time and I just love how it works with the stencils. The details are so nicely highlighted. It dries fast, with a matte finish. This is a fabulous product.

I decided to use yellow colors because of the yellow tones in my picture. I needed to edit it a lot because it was very dark but I really loved this portrait of Maja.

Those abstract flowers really are a great solution if you run low with the embellishments but you want your page to look busy and filled with all the pretty stuff. I will definitely come back to this idea in some other project. With the Shimmerz Paints you can easily create the flower in the colors you need in that moment. You can use mists or paints to color the layers. Possibilities are limitless.

I hope I inspired you with this project to play with papers and paints. As always I have a process video for you.

I used:
- Aqua Huez (notice that they are no longer continued): Hottie Pink, Crazy Daisy
- Creameez: Cheeky Pink
- Shimmerz: Sunny
- Paste-eez: Salt of the Earth
- Spritz: Chick-a-dee

That's all for today. Thank you fro stopping by and see you in August.
