365 Art Journal page

Hi there...I am back again today to share some more shimmerz Paints in use!!!!  This time in my journal, which is an art journal / project life journal.  This page is recording a recent event in our family on February 18......and was fun to do.

Products I used

COLORINGZ
Mandarin Mai Tai
Anchors away

VIBEZ
Razzle Dazzle Berry

SPRITZ
Chick-a-dee

BLINGZ
Under the sea

ENAMELZ
Sparkiliscious

The background is made with book pages, tissue paper and decoupage medium, with distress ink.

I used a mask with Mandarin Mai Tai and Chickadee making circles patterns in the background, Then drips with Anchors Away.  Between each layer I used Helmars Fixative Spray to stop the colours melting together when they get re-wet!  It kept the colours seperate nicely.  I added Razzle Dazzle Berry in more concentrated colour sprays and let that drip too, then went over the area behind the photo in Under the Sea.

I used some watercolour crayons to do the circles and some more Under the Sea to colour the centres.  I sprinkled over Sparkiliscious Enamelz over the entire area of the wet circles and embossed it making it look glossy and have a hard acrylic look. ( and ever so sparkly!!!!)

I added some pen in black and white, edging the text (which was stamped with Staz-on) just to add highlights and to neaten things up.  And its finished!  I stuck everything down and called it finished!

Get some Shimmerz into your art Journals girls.  So much fun.
Thanks for stopping by the blog today!

Have a good day!!!

Building Contrast

Earlier this month, The Color Room offered a palette with some interesting colors (#75). These colors were so strikingly different from one another and I thought I would really challenge myself to create a bold layout, using a dark, dark, background created with Shimmerz paints, and then highlighting all the elements with other Shimmerz hues.

The background was a pale colored corrugated cardboard prior, but after adding lots of Vibez in Before Dawn, Hot Fudge, and Pearlz in Toadlee, it was this deep, delicious color.

I then used Blingz in Under the Sea to highlight lots of the cracks within the cardboard, and do my dripping around the cluster, creating a beautiful contrast to the dark brown background. To add a bit more visual interest, I dipped the cap to my Under the Sea Blingz, into its paint, and stamped onto the background for fun. :)

It's As Simple As Painting and Stamping

by Carrie Ferrier
I will admit it, there were times in the past that I left my big stash of stamps in the cabinet because it felt like too much trouble for this clean and simple scrapper to use them.

That totally changed when I started using Shimmerz Paints. My giant stash of stamps are no longer hidden in the cabinet; and I rarely do a page anymore without using my Shimmerz Paints with my stamps.

For today's design, these are the 'ingredients' I used for stamping and painting; a heart stamp, a paper doilie, Shimmerz Blingz, and my foam brush.

After cutting around the stamped heart from the middle of the doilie, and cutting the painted edge off one end of the doilie, I added them to my layout.

A Shimmery Christmas

I love playing around with vintage images. When I found a Christmas Postcard kit by Crafty Secrets, I knew that they needed some Shimmerz to really shine!

First, in order to distress the images a little bit, I spritzed with Treasured Hymn. This is such a cool spritz. It immediately tones down any stark white images and gives them a beautiful slightly distressed look. Next, using Under the Sea Blingz, I added some texture and sparkle to my birds and other blue images. Aren't those birds gorgeous?

On the next ornament, I really got into Shimmerz and painted Santa's outfit with Royal Red so that it would stand out more. I also painted Gold Glimmer on Santa's furry spots to add texture. For dimension, I painted a chipboard star using Royal Red and I stamped a few holly leaves and painted them in with Celery.

The chunky, vintage-glass glitter quality of Gold Glimmer Blingz really shows up in my close-up.

I used Gold Glimmer Blingz again on another Santa along with Under the Sea Blingz on his gifts.

Here is a close-up so you can see the texture.

I hope that your Holidays are happy, healthy, and Shimmery!

In the pink

I have a "pink" layout to share today!

One of my favorite ways to use Shimmerz paint and Spritz is to use them to color white Prima flowers.

I sprayed the flower with Bed of Roses Spritz, then I painted the edges of the petals with Pink Shimmerz paint for a little extra definition. For the blue flower, I sprayed it with Eucalyptus Spritz and painted the edges with Under the Sea.

The papers are from Webster's Pages' "Postcards from Paris" line. The photo was taken by Melissa Walker-Scott.

Have a fantastic day!!
