August Color Kitz Inspiration & Process Video | Amanda Baldwin

Hi Shimmerz Friends & Fans!

Amanda here, & today I am sharing a lil inspiration
(complete with process video)
with our gorgeous August Color Kitz!

This month's Color Kitz is absolutely stunning!
Such pretty colors! &  just check out that exclusive ice cream cut file!!!
Colorz featured are:

 Vibez Hermit the Frog
Coloringz Heidi Ho Blue
Inklingz Sunkissed
Shimmerz Pink

Plus Sprinkle Time! sequins from our friends at SpiegelMomScraps.

If you're super quick, you *might* be able to snare one still before they completely sell out!

I couldn't wait to get creating with this beautiful kit!
Here's what I came up with.....

"Bloom & Grow"

Oh my heart! Isn't this so pretty!
And before you ask about the ice cream cut file, let me tell you that my moody cutting machine ate every single one of those ice cream cones! I know, right?! So frustrating!
On the upside, digital files keep forever, & I'll try cutting it again after I've updated my software, lol!
I've also opted for a 'clean look' mixed media page - lots of controlled painting for this sweet page!
Here's a closer look at my layout....

Whoa! So.much.pretty!!!
Turns out you don't have to use the cut file to maximize the awesomeness of this kit!

I began my layout by painting a bunch of blooms and leaves from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio "Sophisticated" pattern paper (Midnight collection) using ALL the colors!
Where's the Heidi Ho Blue, I hear you ask?
Well, to create those darker green leaves I mixed Coloringz Heidi Ho Blue with Vibez Hermit the Frog - so you kinda get a bonus 'extra' color in your kit ;)
Once dry, I fussy cut all the florals and arranged onto the 12 x 12 white cardstock base.

Next, I sprayed some scrap paper with pure Coloringz Heidi Ho Blue.
With this newly created blue paper, I punched a few butterflies, and even backed it to my photograph for added interest.
In keeping with the butterfly adornments, I just couldn't resist using the beautiful

Aren't they the perfect embellishment?!
You can shop them HERE

Here's a closer look at them on my layout....

Beauties, indeed!
The pretty yellow & lime butterfly coordinates perfectly with the Vibez Hermit the Frog painted leaves. Love it!

For finishing touches, I add my title Bloom & Grow also from the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Midnight collection, & end with scattering lots of Spinkle Time! sequins onto my page....

So many lovelies to look at!

Absolutely gorgeous!!!
And such a 'clean' approach to using paints on your projects!

Beautiful Heart | Amanda Baldwin

Hi Shimmerz Paints Friends & Fans!

Amanda here, & I am so excited to share my latest Education Team layout
(& process video) with you all!
Today I am all about the super pretty blues & purples, and am focusing on our gorgeous Coloringz, Spritz & Vibez paints. Yayyy!!!
But enough chatter, let's get straight into the good stuff!

Here's my layout,

"Beautiful Heart"

And isn't she beautiful, indeed?!!
You can see that my color scheme is drawn directly from those sweet photos of my darling girl, and the stark white of the photo background is also reflected in my white cardstock base too.
But it's those pretty blues & purples that are winning my heart!

Here's a closer look.....

All the shimmery goodness!!!

I have used the Heart & Soul cut file from The Cut Shoppe, and given it a few coats of our favorite shimmery paints! You'll spy
Vibez: Snow Way Man on the left side of the heart,
and on the right side (going from the outer heart first) you'll spot:

I initially start by spraying them directly onto the cut file, but to keep things neat & to stop the colors from blending into one another, I end up using a brush to paint the cut file segments.

Surrounding the left side of the heart is Vibez: Sweetheart & Coloringz: Vivacious Violet -
 SO very pretty!!!!

Lots of pretty coordinating embellishments, and those sweet inky hearts?
Yes, you guessed it -  they're simply cut from my excess paint areas from my cut file.
I can't bare to waste such gorgeous paints!
Here's another view.....

Such incredible vibrancy to these paints! LOVE!!!
And the softness of the pink contrasts beautifully with the bright blue & purples!

Just divine!!!

"Eighth Grade Details" Scrapbooking Process | Simone Schermann

Are you scrapbooking first day of school pictures of your kids? I did for my oldest this year and made a purple and pink boy layout using some of my favorite Shimmerzpaints mists. It looks like I can't let go of the colors since I used them on last month's project as well with the different outcome, if you haven't seen it yet, here is a link to the blogpost. For this layout, I went with a horizontal design using mixed media in the background and then placing my photos on the right and adding a wood veneer word as a big title on the left. I kept the embellishments and layers very minimal as I loved the contrast of the photos and background and didn't want to distract from it.

I stamped part of the title and made sure that the words nestled nicely in between the gaps of my wood veneer word. When combining different fonts for titles I try to pick very different fonts: narrow and skinny with a wide and cursive font for example. Even though they are so different, this ensures the readability of the title.

To add even more texture to the background I stamped several patterns where my title and photos were going to be. I chose inks that were close in color to the mists I used on the background but not the same. To ensure the stamps wouldn't float on the page, I stamped them to be partially covered by my photos or embellishments.
