Good Vibes using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all!  Nicole here with my second layout using the fabulous August Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting some fun we had in Japan while playing the claw machines.

The first thing I did for this layout was to make the background.  I actually started with the wavy paper from the kit and cut 5" strips of waves.  I then lined them up on the left side of the paper and distressed them.  Then I used 4 of the 5 paints that we got in the kit to make bursting rays on the right side of the page.

Next I added my photos with some mats made with paper from the kit.  I also distressed these and popped them up on foam.

Lastly I added embellies from the kit, including: die cuts, stickers and a dotz.  I finished of with some journaling and then made some doodle hearts around my clusters.

Thanks so much for coming to read all about my layout!  I hope it gets you in a crafty mood.  If you are interested in grabbing the Color Kitz Bundle please use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes for a free gift with your order.  I also have a process video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/rDEE3C1Grqc

Until next time, Nicole Santos

Rainy Day Using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first layout using the August Color Kitz Bundle!  I am documenting a rainy day while we were exploring the streets of Tokyo!

The first thing that I did for this layout was make the background.  I used all the colors from the kit to make this rainbow and added some dots at the ends of the rainbow.  You can watch me make this background here: https://youtu.be/FKpTiBzDSCo

Next I paper pieced my layout together and added my pics.  I tore the bottom of the rainbow paper and added the polka dotted paper to the bottom.  I distressed my photos and popped them up on foam tape.  I then added my title down in the lower right corner.

Lastly I added all the embellies from the kit.  It includes die cuts, stickers, and little dotz.  I then splattered with Black Hole paint.

Thanks so much for stopping by to read about my layout.  I hope it gets you in a crafty mood.  You can watch my process for this video here: https://youtu.be/eL7QrMEyAEA

Sunny Days | August Color Kit | Simple Stories | American Crafts | Pebbles by Lorimar Ortega

 Hello Shimmerz Family,

Lorimar here with a Summer-y layout to share with you today. I would consider this layout a mixed media heavy layout, but trust me, the process is simple and so fun to make. I used the August Color Kitz and one extra Shimmerz Paints mist to make this. You can grab the August 2021 Color Kitz here, and the Don't Citron Me here. If, after reading this blog post, you need a more visual exclamation, you can catch my process video here. Remember you can get a freebie on your next Shimmerz Paints order if you write my name "Lorimar" in the comments section.

Alright, so let's get into it.

I started out with a scrap piece of gessoed white cardstock. This is where I'm going to making my affectionately called "mixed media blob" from which I'm going to cut the cutfile (from the Kitz). For this "mixed media blob", I sprayed the Fire and Spice Spitz as my first layer and then splattered Daffodil (Creameez) and Antique Lace (Shimmerz). Set this aside to dry before cutting out the cutfile at roughly 6x6. I cut it up right down the middle to use as two layering pieces beneath two of my embellishment clusters.

Next mayor step was working on my background. Using a gessoed sheet of white textured cardstock, I sprayed Velveteen Green basically all over the page. For some added variation, I sprayed and splashed some Don't Citron Me. Once that was dry, it was on to the embellishments.

For each of the embellishment cluster I used a mixture of stickers, ephemera pieces, foam stickers, and chipboard stickers from Simple Stories Sunkissed, Paige Evans Bloom Street, and Pebbles Sun & Fun collections. I love playing with dimension and layers whenever I make my clusters so the close-ups that follow will show the details of each of them. I tangled up some thread in each of the clusters for a pop of color and texture. To finish up the layout, I splashed a bit of Daffodil and Velveteen Green around the clusters.

That's it! Thank you so much for joining me today.

August Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here today with a new layout for y'all using the gorgeous new August 2021 Color Kitz!  This months kit is so stunning and I had so much fun creating with it!

To start, I cut the exclusive cut file out on a piece of white cardstock.  While I was still in my Silhouette Software, I duplicated and offset the inner pieces of the mandala and cut those as well.  I wanted to back the cut file using the colors in the kit so I had my Silhouette do the work for me.  This makes it so much easier when it's time to back it!  I left all of the pieces on my cutting mat and started painting each piece using the colors in the kit.

Once I was finished painting all of the backing pieces, I set them aside to dry and got to work on my background.  I took a piece of thick white cardstock and sprayed some clean water on it.  I then took the Velveteen Green from the kit and sprayed/painted it on and also added in Antique Lace to give it even more shimmer!  I wanted a bit of blue since the collection that I chose to use had some blue in it.  I pulled a Jeni B Bleu Vibez from my stash and added it in.  I wanted my background to look like the ocean/sand since my photo is of my son at the beach.  I love how it turned out, those colors went so well together and blended perfectly!

I love the colors in this kit!

Next, I backed my cut file and popped it up on foam tape and adhered it to my background.  Then, I started embellishing!  I matted my photo, got my title down and then pulled out the super cute paper clips from the kit and added them to a couple of clusters.

I pulled two of the Dotz from the kit and also got those added into my clusters.

Here's another up close shot:

Thank you so much for stopping by and I hope that I've inspired you in some way today!  Make sure to check out my process video below and also add my name in the notes/comments section of your next order and you'll receive a free gift!  See you next month friends!

Ready For Adventure | August Color Kitz | Mixed Media Layout

 Hey there, friends!

Thank you so much for stopping by the Shimmerz Paints Blog. This is Lorimar, sharing one final Summer layout before we switch gears into Fall.

This layout was made using the super-colorful August Color Kitz, which you can grab or find out more about by clicking here. The colors and motifs were just perfect for documenting these two pictures of my youngest taken during one of his monthly photo-shoots.

Let me walk you through the process: I began by cutting out the cutfile on white cardstock. I then colored it using all the colors from the August Color Kitz and Granny Gray (click on the name to find out more). I then backed the cutfile with acetate and craft foam around the outer edge so that I could use it as a shaker pocket.
My base is a lovely yellow color which I thought was a perfect contrast to all the other colors. Using the negative from the cutfile, I sprayed the center of my base with Glorious Day and Bamboo Leaf. After removing the negative, I splattered a bit of Pop Art Pink to the base.
Once everything was dry, I emptied out the Melon Ball sequin packets unto the center of my base, glued the cutfile on top to make a huge shaker pocket, and then stuck down my photos. In order to make the background and cutfile stand out, I kept my embellishments to a minimum; added the Dotz from the Color Kit, and finally splattered some Slow Ocean and Bamboo Leaf.
That's it! Close-up are done below!

Thank you so much for reading this fair. Remember, by typing my name "LORIMAR" into the comments section of your next Shimmerz order, you'll get a freebie!
- Stay Well, Lorimar

Ocean View | August 2020 Color Kitz | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki here today with a new layout and process video using the August Color Kitz. You can find the Kitz on the Shimmerz website here. You can find the process video at the end of this blog post.

The colours in the August Kitz are: Trippin in the Tropics Creameez, Glorious Day Vibez, Bamboo Leaf Spritz, Pop Art Pink Vibez and my new favourite colour which is exclusive to the August Kitz: Slow Ocean Shimmerz.

The August Color Kitz also includes a set of three Dotz and a sequin mix by Spiegelmom Scraps called Melon Ball. There is also an exclusive cut file which I have used for my layout today.

I cut the cut file in white card. I backed the waves with blue patterned paper. I then attached the cut file to a white background and then I started painting. I painted the dolphin in Slow Ocean Shimmerz. I then created an ombre background within the circle. I started off with the darkest pink/red colour Trippin in the Tropics. I then made that paint a bit lighter by adding more water and faded it up. I then moved onto Pop Art Pink which is a bit lighter. Then I painted the top in yellow Glorious Day. I blended the colours together with water so that they faded into each other. Once it was dry I added splatters and also painted the dolphin with a second coat of Slow Ocean.

I added my photo along with several layers and pieces of ephemera and fussy cut pieces. I then encrusted the top of the waves with the Spiegelmom Scraps sequins. I also added one of the cute Dotz, the pink one with a dolphin on and finished off with some fussy cut clouds.

Here's another look at the finished layout:
