Good Sea Vibes | Shimmerz Paints Neutral Colors | Lorimar Ortega

Hello Shimmerz Fam!

Today's layout features some lovely neutrals with only a few pops of color. I know, totally different than from I'm used to, but it's always fun to craft outside the box from time to time. This layout came together in under 30 minutes and it's super simple to make.

Begin first with a base of white textured cardstock. I didn't add gesso to it because I wasn't going to add a whole lot of mixed media. Start by spraying Taupe of The Morning and Glorious Day, followed by splatters of Granny Gray and Before Dawn. This should dry nearly instantly if you didn't used any gesso.

I dove into my stash for my embellishments, and tried to stay on the down-low with the colors since my goal was to highlight the picture. You can use items from your stash or from a particular collection; the possibilities are endless! The general placement of the layout was to make a sort of "shelf" with all the embellishments kind of "falling out" beneath the picture. I used a mixture of thickers, chipboard thickers, ephemera pieces, veneer buttons, and stickers. I also used a leftover word from the Sun, Sea, Fun Cutfile by COAPA Cutfiles. Added my journaling in gold ink at the bottom, doodled some lines around the border and splattered some Glorious Day to tie everything together, and done!

Simple things are sometimes the best things, and that applies to today's layout. Thank you so much for joining me today! Be sure to drop by the Shimmerz Paints shop and write my name (Lorimar) in the comments section of your next order to get a freebie!

Have scrappy fun!

Art journal "Drawing faces" | Anna Komenda

Hello everyone. It's Anna here with my last project this year. It's been a great journey for me and luckily I will continue it next year. So be warn :D I will back back here at least 12 more times :)
I have something unusual for you today - an art journal spread. I haven't art journal for ages. I simply doesn't have time for that but I really enjoyed doing it in the past. I follow some very inspiring ladies on Instagram like Mindy Lacefield, Jave Davenport and Irit Landgraf. They draw pretty girls and I wanted to try this for my own. This is my result. It's definitely not perfect. I am no a painter at all. I just wanted to feel this pure joy of making my own girls.

This was my fist attempt and I recorded it. I really need to learn how to draw eyes and hair. But practise makes perfect, right? I even ordered a new journal.
Here is a video:

And here is my second try with drawing a girl. I like this one much better but the cat is my favourite. Maybe I should start drawing animals instead of people :)
I used many fantastic Shimmerz products like Creemez, Inklingz, Vibez and Spritz. They all work like watercolors and adding them layer by layer was a real pleaure.

That is all for today. Thank you for stopping by. As it is my last post this year I want to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

Layout "Fantastic" | Anna Komenda

Hello Shimmerz fans. It's Anna here with my next project created with gorgeous Shimmerz products.
Today I want to share with You a layout full of hand painted flowers. I've gone wild with drawing, painting and fussy cutting many florals. I had so much of them, that I didn't need to add a lot more embellishments to my page :)

There is also a process video for You.

I am not a watercolor artist, I didn't take any classes, I am no expert at all. I just love flowers and decided to give them a try. I watched few YT videos about painting flowers. I also checked some flower sketches to get some ideas about shapes and forms. I sketched my own flowers. They are not the copy of real flowers - just a variation.

I used a lot of Aqua Huez and Creameez to color my sketches but I also used mists as a liquid watercolors. I mixed colors to get new shades. I chose two small pictures of me and my little girls because, after all that work, I didn't want to cover the background.

I used a hot glue to attach the flowers. It helps to add dimension to the page without using 3D foam squares. Just be careful with You fingers. I lost my thumb prints long time ago :D

I like using multiply colors so I painted flowers using blue, pink, red and purple. Leaves and twigs combine all the flowers together creating this "wildflower bouquet" effect.
I really love how this page turned out. It's quite thick - perfect for framing and hanging on the wall.

I used a lot of products:
Creameez - Refresh mint
Spritz - Bamboo leaf

Remember - if You want to get a free product while shopping at Simmerz store, don't forget to mention my name.

XO
Anna

Open Up your Vibez

Hi, it's Lucy here with another idea for using your Shimmerz Vibez or Spritz - Open them up and paint with them - you can achieve some wonderful washes and watercolor looks.

I just shared a video on the Ed Team Blog this week where you can see how I created this look here: Video Tutorial

A close up of Before Dawn Vibez used as a wash with some splatter in Toadlee Pearlz.

I love the vintage look it added to my paper!

Thanks and see you soon!

Highlighting with Shimmerz

Hello! Christine here with a project that I created for last week's Creative Therapy prompt. It asked "Are you proud of who you are?" and the following project is my interpretation of it. I will also share how I highlighted different elements on this project using different Shimmerz products.

I used a piece of cardboard as the foundation for this project, and I used Before Dawn Vibez to add some color to the distressed edges of the cardboard. To complement the raw color of the cardboard, I splattered some Penny Pincher and Before Dawn Vibez onto it before laying down the papers and embellishments.

Next, I highlighted the harlequin patterned paper by painting some Coal Shimmerz paint onto the black diamonds. I love how it brings attention to the pattern in a pretty, shimmery way!

Next, I painted the metal nameplate with gesso and covered that with Coal Shimmerz paint for a distressed look. I included vintage flowers painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz and Gold Glimmer Blingz, and finished the project with some crinkled seam binding ribbons that was "aged" with some Penny Pincher Vibez.

I hope that this gives you some ideas for highlighting some elements on your next project! Thanks for visiting today, and I hope you continue to enjoy the creative process using Shimmerz!

My Heart Can't Resist the Vibez

It's been a month since Valentine's Day has passed, but our feelings and all things that inspire us are timeless, are they not? Well, today I'd like to share a heartfelt project that I created using some Razzle Dazzle Berry and Before Dawn Vibez.

For this project, I used a Maya Road chipboard heart box which originally had a sheer, semi-opaque insert on the box top. I replaced it with a piece of clear acrylic so that the patterned paper could be seen from the top of the box. I wanted a nice textured border for the box top so I decided to try a resist technique. I stamped the top with a Papertrey Ink damask stamp and white pigment ink. I quickly embossed it with white embossing powder, and once it cooled, I sprayed it with Before Dawn Vibez. I wiped away the excess spray from the embossed images, and it resulted in a nice, shimmery distressed look that I love! I also sprayed the bottom of the heart box with Before Dawn Vibez to match and adhered a piece of Teresa Collins patterned paper inside. Next, I adhered a length of lace around the box top for added texture and interest.

For the flowers, I sprayed Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez onto three small Prima flowers, painted the centers with white gesso, and added Prima rhinestones to the centers.

For the large flower, I die cut the petals from crepe paper using a Sizzix poinsettia die, sprayed them with Razzle Dazzle Berry Vibez, assembled the petals into a flower, and painted the center with some Before Dawn Vibez. The crepe paper flower was topped with a Prima flower which was sprayed with Razzle Dazzle Berry, painted with some gesso, and embellished with a large rhinestone for the center. Finally, I added some Prima crystal swirls to complete the box.

Consider trying a resist technique the next time you use some Shimmerz Vibez! Pardon the pun, but it really wasn't hard to resist doing so on this project! ;-D

Thank you so much for joining me today!

Truly Loving the Shimmerz!

Good morning! I'd like to share a project that I created for this week's Creative Therapy catalyst which prompts us to consider when we first fell in love. Inspired by the question, I created this project which includes one of my favorite Bible verses about love:

The base is a black 7 Gypsies Artist Painter's Tray which I was finally able to order, and I since it was the only one I could find at the time, I wanted to make something special with it. I sprayed the black and white text background papers and flowers with Baby's Breath Spritz. I inked the edges of the patterned papers with Before Dawn Vibez and added a hint of Gold Glimmer Blingz to the edges as well for highlighting. I just love how all of the Shimmerz products combine to truly make this project shine!

The fleur de lis chipboard piece was painted black, sprayed with Before Dawn Vibez, stamped with a script stamp and highlighted with copper mica powder.

Finally, I wanted to add a bit of color to the Tim Holtz metal nameplate so I used a sponge to dab on some Penny Pincher Vibez to highlight the scroll work around the nameplate. It turned out beautifully!

I hope that you're inspired to create something that shares your love story, too! Thanks so much for visiting today!
