Good Vibes using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all!  Nicole here with my second layout using the fabulous August Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting some fun we had in Japan while playing the claw machines.

The first thing I did for this layout was to make the background.  I actually started with the wavy paper from the kit and cut 5" strips of waves.  I then lined them up on the left side of the paper and distressed them.  Then I used 4 of the 5 paints that we got in the kit to make bursting rays on the right side of the page.

Next I added my photos with some mats made with paper from the kit.  I also distressed these and popped them up on foam.

Lastly I added embellies from the kit, including: die cuts, stickers and a dotz.  I finished of with some journaling and then made some doodle hearts around my clusters.

Thanks so much for coming to read all about my layout!  I hope it gets you in a crafty mood.  If you are interested in grabbing the Color Kitz Bundle please use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes for a free gift with your order.  I also have a process video that you can watch here: https://youtu.be/rDEE3C1Grqc

Rainy Day Using the August Color Kitz Bundle

Hey all, Nicole here with my first layout using the August Color Kitz Bundle!  I am documenting a rainy day while we were exploring the streets of Tokyo!

The first thing that I did for this layout was make the background.  I used all the colors from the kit to make this rainbow and added some dots at the ends of the rainbow.  You can watch me make this background here: https://youtu.be/FKpTiBzDSCo

Next I paper pieced my layout together and added my pics.  I tore the bottom of the rainbow paper and added the polka dotted paper to the bottom.  I distressed my photos and popped them up on foam tape.  I then added my title down in the lower right corner.

Lastly I added all the embellies from the kit.  It includes die cuts, stickers, and little dotz.  I then splattered with Black Hole paint.

Make Any Scrapbook Theme Match Your Style | Melissa Minor

Today I'm showing how you can make any scrapbook theme match your style. I'm using the June 2025 Color Kitz. It's a beautiful kit full of adorable underwater and mermaid themed ephemera. But what do you do when you don't have any beach or swimming photos to scrapbook?

I drew inspiration from the colors in the kit. I started by applying some clear gesso to a white 12x12 background paper. I then pulled out my favorite colors of paint in the kit. I love the Jeni B Bleu-Vibez and Peacock's Plume-Shimmerz. All the colors are gorgeous but these 2 are my favorites! I added these 2 colors going down the center of the page. Then I tore one of the pattern papers and added a strip to each side right and left with the paint showing in the center.

I backed my photos with the pretty patterned purple flower paper. I adhered my photos using some wet tacky glue. Then I turned to my collection of dies. I pulled out some flower dies and leaf dies. I cut several different flowers in various sizes from a piece of the patterned paper. I also die cut some using some cardstock and painted to match the colors I already had used on the layout.

I pulled out a few pieces of ephemera from the June kit that matched and that were non-themed. I mixed the hearts into the flower clusters. I also made a few messy tangled thread nests and adhered behind the epoxy flair button. For my title I used an acrylic title from the stash. A few sequins and pearls and this layout is complete!

May Color Kitz | Mother's Day Layout | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm creating a Mother's Day layout using the May 2025 Color Kitz. I started my layout by using a tearing tool and tearing the yellow goose paper. I wanted to use this paper because it really reminded me of my boyfriend Dale's Mom. She has a paper mache goose in her house that she made. She's super crafty and has pointed out this goose to me many times. I mean this paper couldn't be any more perfect. The photos I'm documenting are of Dale's Mom Sandy and his Dad Albert. They are such a cute couple!

After I finished tearing my paper I added a strip of mixed media cardstock that I painted. I added both of the greens from the kit this month Olive Branch-Spritz and Arti-Choked-Vibez. Then I added a little yellow distress oxide ink and a layer of the brand new Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I made an oopsy when cutting my papers so I cut my page to 11x11 to cover my mistake. Then I matted onto a sheet of 12x12 white cardstock.

I then took several of the pieces of ephemera from the kit and layered around my page. I created three embellishment clusters. These clusters are in a triangle and really help draw your eye around the page. Some of the ephemera pieces I layered up using foam tape for extra dimension.

To finish the layout I used several of the sequins from the May Bonus Bundle. If you'd like to watch my layout come together I have a process video linked below. Remember when you place an order on the Shimmerz Paints website add my name -Melissa Minor-to the notes section to receive a free gift.

Thanks friends! I'll be back next month to create with the June Color Kitz!

DIY Painted Embellishments | May Color Kitz | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to share a new layout with you. I used the beautiful May Color Kitz. Everything included in the kit is perfect for documenting Spring memories. I love the floral patterned paper included in the kit. I wanted to bring more attention to it. So, I decided to make some floral embellishments that matched the paper. I dug through my stash and pulled out an old Close to My Heart die set (this company is now closed). I painted a sheet of mixed media cardstock with the Bahama Mama Inklingz. I painted another sheet using Olive Branch Spritz. These are both available in the May 2025 Paint Kit. Then I used my dies and created flower embellishments. I added a little extra detail to the flowers by brushing a hint of orange with Punkin Pie. I think the floral embellishment clusters turned out gorgeous!
Next I started working on my layout. I used a cut file that I purchased from Scrapbook Generation/Allison Davis titled Triangle Pattern #2. A few of the triangles that I cut out I painted using Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I love the sparkle and shine that the Shimmerz Paints adds. Some of my triangles have the floral patterned paper and others have the Butter Believe It. I adhered this to my page behind 2 other strips of the patterned paper included in the Color Kitz.
I pulled out a few embellishments that matched the paper and adhered to the layout using foam tape. I also used a few of the sequins from the May 2025 Bonus Bundle. I have a full tutorial on YouTube linked below.

As a reminder, you can add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your order and Shimmerz will send you a free paint! You can add my name to every order you place and each time earn another free paint!

Waiting For Dad Scrapbook Layout

Hey all! Nicole here with another fun layout using the Color Kitz Bundle.  I am documenting my black lab peeking out the curtains waiting for her dad to come home.  She is sooooo cute!

To start this layout I used the Mustard Seed Vibez to make a swatch card (used as a layering piece) and the background of this layout.  I used Foundations paper to make both the card and the background.

I layered up the swatch card, the white and orange giant grid patterned paper, the blue floral paper, and my photo to make a statement for the middle of my layout.  I distressed all of them and popped them up on foam tape.

Next I fussy cut out the black and white flowers and created little groups of them cascading down my layout.  I then used ephemera and stickers from the kit to add to those little clusters.

I added a title which I die cut from some black card stock.  To finish off this layout I added some black sequins and my journaling.

Thanks for popping in and reading about my layout.  I hope it gives you some ideas of how to use the kit.  You can still grab the kit from the website, just remember to use my name Nicole in the shopping cart notes to get a little freebie with your purchase.

Until next time, Nicole

Love Lives Here | Melissa Minor | September 2024 Color Kitz

Hi Crafty Friends! Melissa Minor here on the blog. I'm excited to be sharing another layout with you. Today I'm using the September Color Kitz. I'm celebrating love the whole month long since my boyfriend Dale & I celebrated our 2 year dating anniversary this month. The pictures I'm scrapbooking are of us visiting our favorite sunflower field in Iowa. The very next day after our visit a storm came through and wiped out all these beautiful flowers for the rest of the season. I'm so happy we were able to go and visit when we did.

To begin my layout I started with a piece of Mixed Media cardstock. I pulled a 12x12 stencil from my stash. The stencil actually has flowers and leaves on it. But I only wanted the leaves portion. So I used a foam ink dauber and brushed on a mixture of Distress Grit Paste and Vibez-Moss-Terious Green. The dauber gave me a little more control over where the mixture was applied. I love the soft look of the leaves with the green color mixed into the paste. Then I took some of the Moss-Terious Green and added a bunch of splatters.

For my embellishments I fussy cut the flowers and leaves from the coloring sheet included in the Color Kitz. I placed the pieces on a low tack sticky mat and began painting them. I used Shimmerz-Limoncello for the flowers. I pulled out Vibez-Mustard Seed from my stash and applied to the center of my flowers. For the leaves I painted them with the Moss-Terious Green. It's hard to appreciate on camera how beautiful these embellishments really are. They sparkle and shine since they were painted with Shimmerz. They are so pretty! I wanted to pull the blue color from my dress onto the layout. I used one of the stickers that looks like a piece of washi tape and placed above my focal photo. Then to carry the blue around the page I used the blue sunflower dotz. You can see I also added a blue watering can sticker too. My layout needed a title. I went to my huge stamp collection and found just the perfect title. The stamp is from Close to My Heart - Love Lives Here. Now I have the blue color in three places on my layout.
Did you see the bonus bundle this month? Wow! The sequins are very eye-catching. I pulled the blue, green, and yellows to use on my page. I decided to add a whole line of them along the bottom of the layout. This was the perfect finishing touch! Be sure to add my name (Melissa Minor) to your Shimmerz Paints orders to receive a free gift. This also lets Shimmerz know I referred you. I  hope this layout has given you some inspiration for your Color Kit. That's all for me this month. Check out my process video below. I'll be back next month with the October kit.

Happy Crafting,
Melissa Minor

Gather | Shimmerz Paints September Color Kitz | Brandy Vaughn

Hello, friends! I'm so excited to finally work with the new September Color Kitz!

This time I created a very simple layout that is minimal but still has a lot of interesting things to see.

I began by painting the flowers on the coloring sheet that comes in the kit. I used Vibes "Mango Tango" and Creameez "Rednecking".

I set the flowers to the side to dry and added some clear heat-embossed flowers randomly in the area around where I wanted my photo. Then I used Coloringz "In Deep" and the packaging technique to add color to the white cardstock. I also added some splatters with the nozzle and paintbrush to get different sizes.

Next, I die cut my title from one of the patterned papers and some leaves from whit cardstock. I chose to leave the leaves white because I only wanted a few colors on my page.

Finally, I clustered all of my chosen elements around my photo and framed the white cardstock with another piece of patterned paper.

I love how this layout turned out. There are so many different shapes and textures that add a lot of interest to this minimal layout. If you would like to see this layout come together you can check out the video below. Be sure to head over to the Shimmerz Shop to see more details about the beautiful September Color Kitz! Don't forget to add my name to your order for a FREE product!

"The Real MVPs" | Sarah Millerhouse | August 2023 Color Kitz

I am excited to share my first layout using the August 2023 Color Kitz! I love the moody colors and beautiful patterned papers featured in the Paper Kitz! Be sure to check out the full process video linked below.

On the background, I started with the Vibez - Before Dawn. This is a beautiful black-grey color that served as a great foundation to layer on color.

I then added texture paste through a hexagon stencil from Peartree Cutfiles. Once this dried, I added the Inklingz - Absolutely Mauvelous. This beautiful pink is unique and so very shimmery! I also splattered on the Shimmerz - Silver Tongue Devil for some added shine!

I added torn strips of patterned paper from the August Paper Kitz layered across the middle. I then added on a spray of flowers trailing from the top left corner to the bottom right color. This was made of flowers fussy cut from the August embellishment sheet as well as flowers from my stash.

I painted the wooden flowers from the August kit using colors from the Color Kitz and tucked those in to the trail of flowers. I also added shiny bits from my stash and Pops of Color. The title was made from two different sets of Thickers that were combined to say, "The Real MVPs" to honor the work my mom and my husband do in preparing our Thanksgiving feast!

I loved using the beautiful August Kitz for this layout and encourage you to check them out!

Summer | Color Kitz Collection | Erica Rose

Hello friends! Erica here and I am so excited to share a 12x12 layout with you today using the July 2023 Kitz!

I started with a piece of white textured cardstock that I trimmed down to 10.75x10.75. I matted the white cardstock onto a couple of papers from the July 2023 paper bundle and distressed the edges of the white cardstock to give it some texture.

For my layout design I knew I wanted to create a vertical design on the right side of the layout. I started by spraying some of the Tangerine Dream Vibes onto the cardstock going down the page. Next I went in with some of the Blue Spruce, Pistachio and French Twist Inklingz from the Color Kitz.

Behind my photo I added some papers from the Paper Bundle and I distressed the edges. I used foam adhesive to pop it up on the layout. Once my photo was down I added lots of fussy cut flowers and embellishments and used the Summer cut apart as my title.

Once all my embellishments were down I went in with the Color Splash in the color Whites of Their Eyes and sprinkled it all over the embellishments. I love how this turned out and I hope you love it too! You can check out my process video HERE on my YouTube channel and if you are new to the channel I would love for you to subscribe.

"Dance in the Rain" | Sarah Millerhouse | July 2023 Color Kitz

Hello! I am happy to be with you today to share my next layout using the July Color Kitz! I love the color combination in the Kitz this month, and I absolutely love the patterned paper in the Paper Kitz! I combined the paints and patterned paper with the Blooming Wild collection by Paige Evans.

I used four of the five colors in the July Color Kitz on the background of this layout. On the top half, I added the Inklingz - French Toast. I absolutely love this color! It is a beautiful light orange with a hint of pink! When it was almost dry, I added in splatters of the Vibez - Tangerine Dream.

On the bottom half of the layout, I did a combination of the Inklingz- Pistachio and Inklingz - Blue Spruce. I added the colors side by side and let them blend and bleed into one another. I love how those colors look together!

Once the background dried, I added distress ink through an XO stencil by Vicki Boutin. On top of that, I layered on my large letter and small letter combined title, using letters from the Blooming Wild collection.

I created three floral clusters using flowers from the July Paper Color Kitz that I fussy cut from patterned paper and flowers from Blooming Wild patterned paper that I fussy cut. I love how the colors and floral patterns speak to each other so well!

I added a few more embellishments from the Blooming Wild collection and finished the layout by adding some shiny bits and dots of Pops of Color.

I enjoyed every minute of creating this layout and hope it inspires you in some way! Remember to add my name to your Shimmerz Paints order to receive a free gift!
