Embellishing With The Shimmerz Paints June Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to be creating today with the Shimmerz Paints June Color Kitz. I absolutely love the kit this month. To start my layout I first chose the patterned papers I wanted to use. For my background I picked the paper that looked like it had sand. Last October we celebrated my boyfriend Dale's birthday in Florida. I thought it would be fun to create a beach themed page to document the occasion. Even though my picture was taken at the hotel this will help us remember we were near the beach for his birthday.
Next I chose the paper that looked like water and the paper with the gold shells. I cut these using a Sunburst cutfile from Allison Davis. I used the same cut file and just resized one smaller than the other. I distressed the edges of the papers and adhered to the sand background. My photo I printed at home on the Epson Picture Mate 400. I printed in 4x4 in size. I popped it up using some foam dimension. While my cricut was still out I created a title using the print and cut feature that says Fifty In Florida.

To finish my layout I used several seashell stamps from my stash and painted them up using the beautiful paints that came in the kit. I absolutely love the way this layout turned out. I have a full process video linked below.

Don't forget to add my name, Melissa Minor, to the notes section of your order and Shimmerz will send you a FREE paint!

April Color Kitz | No Meat | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor @cards.by.melissaminor here on the blog today. I'm excited to share a new layout with you. I used the gorgeous April Color Kitz. I love that the kit is filled with beautiful florals this month. My layout came together very quickly. I decided to use a 3 photo one-page sketch that I purchased from Scrapbook Generation designed by Allison Davis.
I started by cutting the patterned papers according to the sketch design measurements. Then I corner rounded the edges that weren't flush against the edges of my background paper. I next applied some of Shimmerz Paints Clear Gesso with my fingertips in two areas. I took a paintbrush and dipped into Mustard Seed-Vibez. My page isn't heavy with mixed media. I have just a touch.

I pulled out the yellow florals from the ephemera package. I also used the Hello Spring and of course the super cute Dotz with the sun on it. For my title I used Thickers from my stash to spell the words "No Meat" since I'm documenting photos of a Friday night dinner during Lent. I finished my title with one of the puffy stickers from the kit that says today. I love the way this layout came out. Using a sketch made it come together very quickly.

Catch Of The Day | Melissa Minor | August 2024 Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm super excited to be sharing another layout with you. I'm using the August 2024 Color Kitz. I love the patterned paper with the fish on it. I knew immediately I wanted to use that paper and make some additional waves. The pictures I'm documenting today are of my daughter Taitym. A couple years ago we went to visit my mom in Florida. While there Taitym drove us on the golf cart to dinner at Roland Martin's Tiki Bar. You can see in one of the pictures her in the photo stand and it looks like she's holding a big fish.

I started my layout with a sheet of white 12x12 cardstock. I covered that sheet in Distress Oxide ink-Peacock Feathers. Next I sprayed some water onto the cardstock so that it would leave some water marks. Then I took a sheet of watercolor cardstock and painted it with Vibez-Love Ocean #9. I cut that piece into 1 1/2 x12 inch strips. After than I started tearing the strips pulling towards me to reveal the white core.

I layered the torn strips onto my inked background. I added a strip of the fish patterned paper from the kit to the center. I love the way the waves turned out on the page. I then added some splatters of Color Splash-Whites of Their Eyes. That was just what the page needed to make it pop.

I turned to my cricut to cut a title. I used a cutfile titled Catch of the Day. I backed the cutfile with the tangerine paper with the suns on it. Next I added my three photos. I kept my embellishment clusters very simple. I pulled a tag, a couple fish, and a couple seashells from the pre-cut ephemera pack.

I finished my layout by adding a few clear gems. If you decide to place an order with Shimmerz Paints please leave my name -Melissa Minor- in the **Add a note to your order ** section. When doing so you will receive a free gift with your order. I have a full process video linked below. I hope my layout has given you some inspiration to create. We'll chat again next week! Thanks!

When Life Gives You Lemons | Sarah Millerhouse | July 2024 Color Kitz

Hello friends! I am so excited to share my first layout featuring the July Color Kitz! I absolutely LOVE the colors in this kit! It’s one of my favorite Kitz ever!

I started by adding color across the middle horizontally! I added both the yellow shades (Coloringz - No Yolking and Color Splash - Squeeze the Day) and let them blend and mix! I then used a stencil and ink from my stash to add little pie piece shapes that I thought looked like lemons! I then layered on the Shimmerz - Berry Smart to add a touch of pink! I added this with a brush and then went back and moved it around and smudged it with a piece of packaging.

I also painted the paintable ephemera sheet included in the Kitz and fussy cu
t out the images! This is where many of the beautiful strawberries and lemons came from! I also fussy cut lemons and leaves from patterned paper in the collection!

I added my photos in a strip down the middle, matted with patterned paper from the collection. I LOVE all the patterned papers on the July Kitz!! It was then time for some fun layering up the ephemera and pieces I had fussy cut around the photos! I had so much fun doing this and enjoyed every second of it!

I also layered in some tangled thread and the BEAUTIFUL sequins from the Bonuz Bundle! I added in a few more pieces of ephemera and my block of journaling! I had to print it in super tiny font since I had so much to say about this day! (Tip: I always go back and look to see if and what I posted about on Facebook about different life events with my kids. Often times, this makes the journaling process more specific and full of details that I might’ve otherwise forgotten. On this layout, I was able to print my exact words from the Facebook post and capture everything I wanted to remember!)

I added a little of the paint in places where most of it was covered, and then I added coordinating Pops of Color around my clusters.

I have all the details in the full process video here: Process Video

I would suggest that you purchase everything in this Color Kitz, the paper, and the Bonuz Bundle! Everything is beautiful and you won’t regret it! Pure Joy | Sarah Millerhouse | June 2024 Color Kitz

Hello! I am excited to share this layout featuring the June Shimmerz Paints Color Kitz! Be sure to check out the process video linked below!

I started this layout by punching circles out of the beautiful patterned papers in the Kitz this month! I used 1.5 inch and 2.25 inch circle punches. I also painted the darker green (Coloringz - Keep Palm) and the blue (Vibez - Frost Bite) circles using the beautiful paints and gesso to create the square pattern. I used a back stitch the handstitch the circles going across the page.

Above and below my photos I added circles of paint using an ink blending tool. I added the Shimmerz - Moulin Rouge pink circles and Spritz - Sweet Pea purple circles. I also added open circles using a cup to stamp a larger circle with the Coloringz - Keep Palm.

I layered on flowers from the ephemera in the June Kitz and made leaves out of the same green paper I painted for the circles. I love all the color and texture the flowers add! I also pulled sequins from the previous January Bonus Bundle and crystals from my stash to add on and around the clusters. I also added Pops of Color in coordinating colors.

Bloom | June 2024 Color Kitz | Brandy Vaughn

Hello, friends! I'm so happy to finally show you my first layout using the beautiful June Color Kitz.

I knew right away that I wanted to have some torn pieces on my layout. I also wanted to keep this one simple. I chose my elements and began to arrange them in a cluster with my photo in the center.

I fussy cut the tags and glued all of the pieces together so I could make sure the whole cluster was centered on my page. Then I added craft foam to the back of the cluster to raise it up off of the background paper.

This is where I bring in Vibes-Frost Bite. I dipped a paintbrush directly into the bottle and dabbed a little color under the cluster just to have a small amount peeking out like a shadow. Then this simple layout was all complete.

I hope you like it! You can check out my process video below to see how easily this one came together.

Using up left over alphas | May Color Kitz | Brandy Vaughn

Hello, friends! I have a new layout for you using the beautiful May Color Kitz!

I have wanted to try this technique for a couple of years. I have been toting around a nearly used-up set of alphas that I couldn't make any more words with, just knowing I would do this. When I saw the colors included in this month's kit I knew the time had come!

I started by gluing the letters down in a circle, including the title. Then I covered the whole thing in gesso. When that dried, I added a layer of white acrylic paint. Now the magic begins. I sprayed a layer of water over the whole thing, then randomly sprayed around Vibes in Don't Rain On My Parade and Spritz Powder Puff, then blended with a wet brush until I achieved my desired result.

Next, I came in with a layer of Inklingz Burnished Buckle just over the letters, working the color into the edges really well. I added a couple of layers of Shimmerz Antique Lace on top of the title letters to help them stand out from the rest.

Next, I die-cut several leafy bits from a piece of paper that comes in the kit. I also added the May circle scalloped cut file to frame the whole thing. Then I embellished with some ephemera pieces from the kit and this one is all done!

I really hope you like it! I kind of surprised myself on this one, lol. You can check out my process video here:

Best Ever | Sarah Millerhouse | May 2024 Color Kitz

I am SO excited to share my first layout using the May Color Kitz! I love all the blues, and they were perfect for capturing a Mother's Day memory with my sweet mom, who happens to love navy blue! Be sure to check out the process video linked below!

This layout was definitely a process for me! It did not end up the way it started, and I made several drastic changes along the way to get it just right (check out the process video to learn more about the changes I made)!

I loved using four of the patterned papers in the Color Kitz Paper Collection on the background to make a wonky circle. I also fussy cut out the long sprig of blue flowers from one of the patterned papers.

I tucked in lots of ephemera down the sprig of flowers along the center of the layout to create a multi-layered look. I added craft foam in between all the layers to get just the right amount of dimension between the layers!

I used the Vibez - Don't Rain on My Parade, Shimmerz - All is Frost, and Shimmerz - Antique Lace at the top of the circle and bottom of the circle to layer behind the ephemera. I also used the Antique Lace on both sides of the circle to finish off the look.

I added some half pearls and crystals from my stash tucked into the floral cluster and around the ephemera to add some more visual interest. I also added in Pops of Colors in coordinating colors for some added detailing!

I hope this layout inspires you in some way!

100 Days of School | Sarah Millerhouse | April 2024 Color Kitz

Hello! It’s Sarah Millerhouse here, and I am so excited to share another layout using the beautiful April Color Kitz!

For this layout, I started with matte opaque texture paste on the background. I applied it to my mixed media cardstock in a thick layer, using my palette knife. I then used a bench scraper to slice lines horizontally through the paste while it was still wet. This gave me some thick, perfectly imperfect lines going across for added texture. Once it dried, I added Coloringz - Well Blue Me Down and Coloringz - Sunny Side Up on top of the texture paste, letting it mix and bland a little along the lines.

I layered on patterned paper from the April Color Kitz Paper collection and added my two photos. I then created the title using Creameez - Piggy Pink, Coloringz - Sunny Side Up, and Creameez - Luck O The Irish (Bonuz Bundle) and stamps from CraftyMe. I love the layered number stamps and how they look with all the Shimmerz goodness behind them. I finished the title with letters from my stash and ephemera from the April colllection.

I used patterned paper from the April collection and a past Shimmerz Paints cutfile to cut the layered flowers for the page. I love how these look cut from patterned paper and white cardstock as the flower border.

To finish the page, I used the sequins from the Bonuz Bundle and Pops of Color to add a few extra details.

I absolutely LOVE this kit this month and all the colors included!! I hope you will check it out for yourself and join in on the fun creating with it!

Together is Better | Sarah Millerhouse | April Color Kitz

I am so very excited to share my new layout featuring the April 2024 Color Kitz!!! This is my most favorite color combination so far! It is pure perfection!! I have a full process video linked below.

I started this layout by using the paints from this Color Kitz to create the photo mats. I painted five colors in stripes and then cut 4 in. x 6 in. rectangles out of the stripes to act as the foundation for my photos. The five colors I used were: Creameez - Piggy Pink, Coloringz - Sunny Side Up, Creameez - Luck O' the Irish (Bonuz Bundle), Coloringz - Well Blue Me Down, and Vibez - Blue Jeans.

For the background, I sprayed on the Sunny Side Up Coloringz in the top left and bottom right corners. I then added the Piggy Pink Creameez in a few spots using a hexagon stencil from my stash and added splatters in the same color.

I cut 1.75 in. hexagons from three of the patterned papers in the paper collection to add on top of the color in the top left and bottom right corners. I distressed the edges of each of there before adhering them down.

I then added all the beautiful ephemera, all from the Paper Collection, to the layout! I absolutely love every single beautiful embellishment! I also used the magical sequin mix, with its magical little flowers, from the April Bonuz Bundle. Pops of Color in coordinating colors finished off the layout!
