Embellishing With The Shimmerz Paints June Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to be creating today with the Shimmerz Paints June Color Kitz. I absolutely love the kit this month. To start my layout I first chose the patterned papers I wanted to use. For my background I picked the paper that looked like it had sand. Last October we celebrated my boyfriend Dale's birthday in Florida. I thought it would be fun to create a beach themed page to document the occasion. Even though my picture was taken at the hotel this will help us remember we were near the beach for his birthday.
Next I chose the paper that looked like water and the paper with the gold shells. I cut these using a Sunburst cutfile from Allison Davis. I used the same cut file and just resized one smaller than the other. I distressed the edges of the papers and adhered to the sand background. My photo I printed at home on the Epson Picture Mate 400. I printed in 4x4 in size. I popped it up using some foam dimension. While my cricut was still out I created a title using the print and cut feature that says Fifty In Florida.

To finish my layout I used several seashell stamps from my stash and painted them up using the beautiful paints that came in the kit. I absolutely love the way this layout turned out. I have a full process video linked below.

DIY Painted Embellishments | May Color Kitz | Melissa Minor

Hi crafty friends! I am so excited to share a new layout with you. I used the beautiful May Color Kitz. Everything included in the kit is perfect for documenting Spring memories. I love the floral patterned paper included in the kit. I wanted to bring more attention to it. So, I decided to make some floral embellishments that matched the paper. I dug through my stash and pulled out an old Close to My Heart die set (this company is now closed). I painted a sheet of mixed media cardstock with the Bahama Mama Inklingz. I painted another sheet using Olive Branch Spritz. These are both available in the May 2025 Paint Kit. Then I used my dies and created flower embellishments. I added a little extra detail to the flowers by brushing a hint of orange with Punkin Pie. I think the floral embellishment clusters turned out gorgeous!
Next I started working on my layout. I used a cut file that I purchased from Scrapbook Generation/Allison Davis titled Triangle Pattern #2. A few of the triangles that I cut out I painted using Butter Believe It-Shimmerz. I love the sparkle and shine that the Shimmerz Paints adds. Some of my triangles have the floral patterned paper and others have the Butter Believe It. I adhered this to my page behind 2 other strips of the patterned paper included in the Color Kitz.
I pulled out a few embellishments that matched the paper and adhered to the layout using foam tape. I also used a few of the sequins from the May 2025 Bonus Bundle. I have a full tutorial on YouTube linked below.

As a reminder, you can add my name Melissa Minor to the notes section of your order and Shimmerz will send you a free paint! You can add my name to every order you place and each time earn another free paint!

Spooky Halloween Scrapbook Layout | Melissa Minor | October Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm super excited to be sharing another layout with you for the Shimmerz Paintz design team. I'm using the October 2024 Color Kitz. I started the layout by painting some of the Dandy Lion-Creameez onto white mixed media cardstock. I then cut that piece down and used as a layering piece behind my photos.

I layered up some of the bright and fun patterned papers from the kit. To embellish my layout I brought in quite a few dies from my stash. For the title, I cut the word SPOOKY using a festive font. I then used some Vicki Boutin Thickers and finished my title with the word FUN. The thickers are white so I used some of the Celery-Shimmerz to paint in the letters. I love the shiny green this brought down to the bottom of the layout.

Next I cut some tags with various papers from the kit. I added some ribbon and twine to give my layout extra interest and dimension. I embellished with one of the dotz and several ephemera pieces from the kit. I love the little witch and Frankenstein pieces. The pictures I'm scrapbooking aren't actually from Halloween. My boyfriend Dale and I visited a really cool store in St Charles, MO that had Halloween decorations all over. We had to snap a few pictures. The store seemed to keep going and going. There were so many rooms, twists, and turns filled with all kinds of interesting items for sale.
When you place your next Shimmerz Paints order be sure to add my name (Melissa Minor) to the comments section so you can receive a free gift! This also lets Shimmerz know I referred you.

I have a link to my process video below. I've also included a link to my unboxing video. Leave me a pumpkin in the comments section of the video. We'll chat again next month.

Happy Crafting,

Palm Tree Paradise | Melissa Minor | August 2024 Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm excited to be sharing another layout with you. The August Color Kitz is full of tropical themed papers and ephemera. I knew just the photos I wanted to document with this kit. My son Logan and his wife Chloe just returned from a trip to Hawaii. I have lots of photos so I'm making a double page layout today.

I started by choosing four of the patterned papers from the kit. I cut them down to 6x6 squares and glued them to white cardstock to make my base. I love how this brings in so much color to the layout. I repeated this step for page two. Next I started making some embellishments for the layout. I pulled some tropical florals and leaves stamps from my stash and stamped them using a waterproof dye ink. I painted the leaves using the Jilted Jade-Shimmerz. Next I painted the flowers using a combination of both Trippin' In the Tropics-Creameez and Tangy Tangerine-Coloringz. I also fussy cut some flowers from the patterned paper to complete my floral clusters.

What is a Hawaiian layout without a palm tree? The August Color Kitz comes with a palm tree SVG cutfile. I resized it in cricut design space and added an offset. Next I pulled some paints from my stash. I used Spruce It Up-Shimmerz and No Yoking-Coloringz to paint the top of the tree. For the tree trunk I used a natural sponge and brushed on Distress Oxide ink in the color Vintage Photo. After looking at it awhile I decided I wanted to darken the bark a little. I then used the same method with the sponge and added Distress Oxide ink in Ground Espresso. When using the sponge I drug the sponge across the image from left to right. I used some foam tape and layered one image over the other to give the tree some extra dimension. I'm so happy with the way this tree turned out. I think it's my favorite part of the layout.
Next I added the photos to both of my pages and started building my embellishment clusters. I used a combination of the stamped images and the pre-printed ephemera. I had a few die cut leaves I threw in as well. I also added 2 of the 3 dots that came in the kit.
I finished my layouts by adding pearls to the center of all the flowers. You can watch my full process video below. I had so much fun making these pages. This is the perfect kit to document tropical adventures.
