Happy Day with Shimmerz | Ericka Strange

Hello! Ericka here and today I'm sharing a quick card I made using some Shimmerz paints.

I love the the beautiful colors of the Shimmerz Paints. I created this background with some leftover paints on my brush after I had mixed the Shimmerz. Instead of rinsing off my brush when I was done painting, I grabbed a piece of paper and painted stripes to use up the leftover paint. I used Tickle Me Turquoise (one of my favorite colors), Crimson Tide, and Evergreen.

Once my background was dry, I stamped the flower from the Visible Image Flower Art set in Versafine ink and clear heat embossed it.

I stamped the sentiment from the Visible Image Happy Day set to finish my card. Thanks for stopping by and check out my blog Strangely Creative for more information on the supplies I used. Happy crafting!

Shimmerz Rainbow

I hope you are all doing well and having a fantastic day. Ericka here playing with the Shimmerz Paints and making a fun rainbow card.

I love all the beautiful and bright Shimmerz available and thought I'd play around making a rainbow. I stamped the Essentials by Ellen Over It rainbow in embossing ink so I could see the lines and  I started painting.

I used  the following Shimmerz colors to make my rainbow:

I love how bright and fun this rainbow came out. Once it was dry, I added stars to the bottom and heat embossed them with WOW! Embossing Cloud 9. I added the sentiment in black ink and then for a little extra shine, used WOW! Embossing Pink Fizz for the hearts.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week and let your true colors show!

December 24, 2018 | Shimmerz Colors Overload Layout

Hello everyone!

Today's Christmas layout features lots and lots of gorgeous colors paired with an equally lovely cutfile and glitter gold acetate. I used a Vicki Boutin foundations paper as my base since I knew that my mixed media was going quite a lot. This sort of paper is a mix between a gessoed cardstock and a non-gesso background; it holds the color a bit (like a non-gessoed background), but gives up a few moments to blend or move colors around (like a gessoed cardstock). In all, it took me about 3 hours to make this layout, but most of it was spent creating the background (and allowing it to dry) and backing the cutfile.

Let's get started! I used the colors that were in the picture to inspire the color scheme for my layout; that called for lots of colors! For each of the colors that you see underneath the letters of the cutfile, I used the packaging technique to add the main color and then added a slightly different color by way of splatters. I would wait for each color section to completely dry before moving on to the next color in order to prevent getting muddled colors. Listed below are all the colors used divided up into which letter they are found under:

D - Moody Mauve; Gold-N-Roses

E - Honey Dew List; Hint of Mint
C - Hot Fudge; Penny 4 Your Thoughts
E - Marigold; Miner, Miner 49er
M - In Deep; Tickle Me Turquoise
B - Red Necking; Crimson Tide
E - Hi Ho Silver; Coal
R - Jolly Green Giant; Green Goddess

The cutfile was designed by Virginia Walker (COAPA Cutfiles) and, not wanting to cover up my base, I backed the letters with clear acetate with golden glittery accents. For the bow, I colored some scrap white cardstock with Pip Pip Cherry O and backed it with that. Did the same thing for the Holly (Hermit the Frog on some green cardstock; Goldie Lox on red cardstock) and candy cane (Goldie Lox on red cardstock; Misty Morning on white cardstock) and backed them once everything was dry. The entire cutfile is placed on craft foam for added dimension, and placed it to the left hand side of the base.

I matted my picture on white cardstock and added a few layers of Christmassy patterned paper, popped it up on craft foam and wedged it between the "C" and the "R". I lightly embellished so as not to take away from the picture, cutfile and base, and to not over crowd the overall layout. Next are some extra close-ups!

I hope I've inspired you to make a colorful layout such as this, and that you get your story documented. Remember, write my name down in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order to receive some free paint!

Stay crafty and I'll see you soon!

Shimmerz Fall Foilage

Hey Shimmerz fanz! I hope you are having a wonderful week. Ericka here with a fall card I made using some gorgeous Shimmerz paints.

So this month we have a Shimmerz Team Color Challenge going on. The goal was is to challenging ourselves to pick a color to use on our projects that we might not typically use.  I choose So Sappy, which at first I thought was a light brown color but when you layer it you get a soft orange-ish/gold hue as well.

I love these colors together and the So Sappy in the background is so pretty.

I stamped my leaves from Reverse Confetti's Fall Foliage, on watercolor paper and masked off the top and bottom sections to get a clean line. I used clear embossing powder over the Versfine ink so that my lines on my leaves would remain crisp.
I then painted my leaves with the following Shimmerz products: Pumpkin, Crimson Tide, and Bumble Bee. I added a little bit of the other colors to the leaves to give them a fall color changing look. Once the leaves were dry, I used So Sappy Shimmerz for the background.

Once my paints were dry, I went over the background with some black paint splatters and then removed the tape and added some black pen lines to define my background.

That's all for me today. Thanks for stopping by and don't forget if you make a purchase on our new website, type in ERICKA in the comments and you'll receive a freebie with your order!

You Are Special Card | Melinda Beltran

Hello crafty friends,
Melinda here with you today and I am excited to share my latest card with you.

My card starts with an A2, top folding card from white cardstock. I then cut a mat from some plain white cardstock along with some heart shapes.

I painted some of the Crimson Tide Shimmerz paint onto the mat. I then spritzed it with some Glorious Days and Snow Storm Vibez spray. I repeated these steps until I was satisfied with the mat.

I then proceeded to color the top hearts with some Pink O De Mayo Shimmerz paint. I then adhered them to the solid hearts.

Next, I proceeded to cut some flowers and the leaves from some more plain white cardstock. I used Pip Pip Cherry O Shimmerz to paint the flowers and some Angel Kiss Inklingz for the leaves. I love the contrast of the pearly finish the Inklingz has. I mounted my flowers and leaves onto some oval cross-stitched mats.

I finished of my card by stamping a sentiment in some berry colored ink and then adding a few sequins. I also added some pearl embellishments to the centers of the flowers.

Here is one last look at my finished card. I love the way it turned out!

Start the Day Right | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman here to share a shimmery card with you today.

I know spring is still a ways away, but I'm definitely wanting to brighten up these gloomy January days with some color in my craft room. This sweet bicycle die cut was sitting on my desk, so I thought I would do a little painting.

I painted the bike body with Crimson Tide Shimmerz and Sweet Heart Vibez.  The seat, kickstand, pedal and tires are done with Silver Bells and Coal Shimmerz, and I finished the basket off with So Sappy and Coffee Shimmerz.  I thought the bike could use some flowers to spruce it up, so pulled out the Lovely Balloons Stampz and stamped the two floral sprays and another basket.  Then I painted with the same colors as above, adding in Celery and Evergreen Shimmerz for the greenery.

For the background, I wanted a neutral color, so chose a brick stencil to sponge on some Silver Bells.  I then went back in with a mix of silver bells and coal to add in some accents on some of the bricks.  It's so very shimmery.  My sentiment choice is from the Fresh Start Stampz set and I thought it fit perfectly for a a January card.  I sponged around the edges of the brick panel with black ink and then added a bit more at the bottom to give the bike a place to rest.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure to check out the Shimmerz shop for all the colorful products I used today:

Fresh Start Stampz
Crimson Tide Shimmerz
Silver Bells Shimmerz
Coal Shimmerz
So Sappy Shimmerz
Coffee Shhimmerz
Celery Shimmerz
Evergreen Shimmerz

Good Cheer | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz fans! It's Julee here today to share a little cup of good cheer with you. Shimmerz is sponsoring the Fall/Winter Coffee Lovers Blog Hop that's going on now through December 7, so I thought it would be the perfect time to pull out the new Filled to the Brim stamp set.

Speaking of stamp sets, all in-stock stampz are on sale this week in the Shimmerz store! Use promocode STAMPZSALE at checkout for 30% off all stamps. Hurry, though... the sale is limited to stock on hand and ends Friday, December 7.

Go ahead and click on over. I'll wait.  {grin}

This card started with a background experiment. I painted a little Moulin Rouge and some Crimson Tide Shimmerz onto a 3 x 5" gelli plate to see what would happen. I think I watered it down a bit too much, because the result was pretty similar to smooshing it on with an acrylic block. I did two pulls from the plate and this one uses the second print. Next I decided to build up some layers, so I used the Tim Holtz mint stripes layering stencil at a diagonal with Crimson Tide Shimmerz to give it that peppermint stick feel. When that was dry I went in with a Tim Holtz flourish and some Tidy Widy Texturez for a shimmery textured accent.

Next I moved onto the stamping. I embossed the snowflake cup from Filled to the Brim in white onto the first gelli print I pulled and fussy cut.  I added a bit of Coffee Shimmerz to the brim of the cup, then layered it onto a wooden snowflake embellishment that I painted with Silver Bells Shimmerz.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set and embossed in silver onto vellum and then hand trimmed in a banner shape.  I finished off with some distressed edges and a little silver clip and bows.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you find a deal you can't pass up in the Shimmerz store, place my name (Julee Tilman) in the order comments so they know who sent ya!
