Good Vibes | Niki Rowland

Hi everyone, Niki back with you today with a very colourful layout to share! I went rainbow crazy with lots of Shimmerz Paints and the Cocoa Vanilla Studio Happiness collection.

To create the background I started off by finding the middle point of a piece of Marshmallow card. I then drew a starburst very lightly in pencil. I then filled in each section of the starburst with different Shimmerz Paints.

I'm in love with Creameez at the moment, The colour is so intense. The more water added, the less intense they are, but if you only add a small amount of water the colour is very rich.

The colours I used are:

I applied all these using the packaging technique. I blotted the colours inbetween applications so that they didn't run into each other too much. When they were a little bit dry, I then added flicks of the same colours over each coordinating colour block.

When my background was dry I added my photos and a few layers of patterned paper. I then went crazy with the colour-on-colour embellishment where I used ephemera, sequins and stickers.

I love how this layout turned out! It is so bright and happy and I am really in love with rainbows at the moment! Thanks so much for joining me today and I hope you have enjoyed this layout.

Simply Enjoy Life Card | Melinda Beltran

Happy Saturday Shimmerz friends!
Melinda here with you today and i'm excited to share this fun card I created.
Here's a look at my card. I started by creating an A2 top folding base from some white cardstock. I then cut a mat from some medium purple cardstock.

Next, I went to work creating my background. I used a piece of white cardstock and then painted several colors of Shimmerz and Inklingz paints onto the background to create this background. Once the paints were dry, I added a layer of Puttin' On The Glitz Pasteez. This added a layer of sparkle to the shimmer.

Here is another view of the mat. It is so pretty in real life with the shimmer of the Shimmerz paint, the pearly look of the Inklingz and the sparkle.

Next, I added some scalloped heart die cuts, some tiny flowers and some butterflies. I also added a strip of ribbon with a bow.

I added a variety of butterflies in various colors and sprinkled some sequins around them.

I finished off my card by adding a sentiment from the Simply Enjoy Stampz set.

Here is one last look at my finished card.

Wonderful | Niki Rowland

Hi Shimmerz Fans! Niki here today and I'm sharing a Christmas layout today. I wanted to make a striped Shimmerz background to build my layout so that's what I started off doing. There is a process video for this layout too which is linked below.

I started with white card for my background and then began making the stripes. I wanted a sort-of ombre effect, going dark at the bottom up to light towards the top. I've used:

I started off at the bottom and painted the dark green stripe first. I also added flicks of the same colour before moving onto the next. I then painted the next colour and added flicks, and so on until the background stripes were complete. I was away on vacation when making this layout and I didnt have my heat tool on hand, so I patted each layer dry with a paper towel before applying the next colour. It didn't dry the paint completely of course, but it helped a lot.

Once my background was dry, I added my photo in the middle and tucked lots of embellishments around it. I was aiming for tone-on-tone embellishing so added red embellishments to the red stripe and green embellishments to the green stripes etc.

The supplies I've used are mostly Holiday Happenings collection from the December Hip Kit Club kit and I've also added the Merry & Bright acrylic title by Bramblefox. I added stitching through my puffy sticker alphabet and through the puffy tree at the top as I was worried they might not stick (especially as I added them before my background was completely dry!)

I've created a process video for this layout which you can view below.

Frosty Fun | Color Challenge: Winter's Mist | Niki Rowland

Hey there Shimmerz fans! Niki back with you today and I have a wintery layout to share with you today. We are doing another color challenge at the moment: each member of the DT had to choose one color and make that the subject of their layout.  I loved this challenge last month and stuck just to my one chosen color. This month I'd added in a couple of extras too.

So my chosen color this time was 'Winters Mist' Shimmerz. These Shimmerz paints are little pots of watercolor gorgeousness...the color is already mixed to a runny consistency but they are thicker than spray bottle paints and thinner than acrylics - they are the perfect consistency for painting with and of course they sparkle - this makes me very happy :)

So I started off by working out roughly where my photo cluster was going to go. I then mixed some Winter's Mist with some Spun Sugar Dazzlers. Spun Sugar is basically a white texture paste so the colour took to it very well and then hey presto: I had a paste I could apply through a stencil but in Winter's Mist colour.  I applied it through a spotty stencil directly onto my white background.

I also splattered the top half of the background with Winter's Mist. I added in two other colours here too: Hi Ho Silver Blingz and It's Mint to Be Shimmerz.

I also applied Winter's Mist and a snall amount of It's Mint to Be with the packaging technique in order to get a watercolor effect below my photo.

I painted my cut file title with Winter's Mist. That's just one coat and the colour is so intense! Seriously I love these paints so much. Once it was dry I applied some Spun Sugar Dazzlerz through the same stencil I used on the background.

Once all my painting was dry I then assembled my layout using lots of wintery/christmassy papers and embellishments. I didn't want this to be a Christmas layout so I pulled out all the blues and greens so that it looked wintery.

Thank you so much for joining me today, I hope you've enjoyed this layout and Round 2 of the Color Challenge - what's your favourite Shimmerz Colour??
