Friends | Monochromatic Layout featuring Peacock's Plume and Anchors Away | Lorimar Ortega

Hello everyone!

November is a month full of thankfulness, and busy-ness preparing for the Christmas Season. Two of the many things that I'm grateful for are photographed and documented in this layout: My son Danny and our dog, Amy. I went with a monochromatic theme showcasing different tones of blues. For extra pops of "color", I added some embellishments in white and black.
To make this layout, I started with a light blue cardstock by Bazzill. added clear gesso and set it aside to dry. While it dried, I dove into my stash of embellishments and scrap patterned paper searching for anything blue, black and white. I matted my picture on some white cardstock and then added some layers of different patterned paper with torn and/or distressed borders. For extra texture, I tied some chunky Baker's Twine in light blue to the right hand side of the picture.

The colors that I used on my base are listed below. Once the base was dried, I began adding colors in a sort of ombre fashion using the packaging technique, starting with the lightest color are the bottom. I did add a bit more color to the bottom as well so that it looked balanced. Afterwards, I added some extra splatters in Anchors Away and Pixie Dust.

Colors used:
- Anchors Away (Shimmerz)
- Peacock's Plume (Shimmerz) <--- Part of the November color Kitz.
- Tickle Me Turquoise (Shimmerz)
- Boggie Boardin' Blue (Creameez)
- Colder Than Ice (Shimmerz)
- Hi Ho Silver (Blingz)
- Before Dawn (Coloringz)
- Pixie Dust (Blingz)

After everything was dry, I added my picture with paper layers unto some craft foam for added dimension and adhered it to my base. Then I began embellishing, taking care to balance everything out. Finally, added my journaling with a black sharpie marker and added a few splatters of Anchors Away.

I simply love how it turned out! It looks very wintery for me which is just fitting since the picture was taken in January.

Hope I've inspired you to document your story and to embrace a monochromatic look to your layout. Remember, type my name in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order so you can receive some free paint!

Until next time, Happy Craftin'!
- Lorimar

Shimmery Winter Peace | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman popping in with another card making creation featuring Shimmerz Paints!

I pulled out some Shimmerz paints to do some stenciling with the Birch Tree two part stencil from The Cat's Pajamas, starting with Chocolate & Diamonds Inklingz and stenciled the deer onto watercolor paper. To use these paints with stencils, I like to paint a little bit onto a glass mat, then pick up the paint with a mini blending tool and pounce onto the stencil. That way it's less moisture all at once, and you don't get the seepage you sometimes do when just painting directly on a bumpy surface like watercolor paper. I then traced around the stencil on post it note paper and fussy cut masks for the deer.  Then I repeated the same process with the birch stencil, this time using Colder than Ice Shimmerz.

I loved the frosty peaceful look of the scene so much that I didn't want to cover any of it up.  So I pulled out the Peace Love Joy Die and cut it, cutting off the love and joy so just the peace remained.  I painted this with Steely Blue Eyes Inklingz and then popped it up on foam dots for a bit of dimension.

Overall, a simple card, but the shimmer makes it magical! I hope you've enjoyed this project.  As always, if you're inspired to shop in the Shimmerz shop, add my name, Julee Tilman, in the comments for a free paint!

Simply Enjoy Life Card | Melinda Beltran

Happy Saturday Shimmerz friends!
Melinda here with you today and i'm excited to share this fun card I created.
Here's a look at my card. I started by creating an A2 top folding base from some white cardstock. I then cut a mat from some medium purple cardstock.

Next, I went to work creating my background. I used a piece of white cardstock and then painted several colors of Shimmerz and Inklingz paints onto the background to create this background. Once the paints were dry, I added a layer of Puttin' On The Glitz Pasteez. This added a layer of sparkle to the shimmer.

Here is another view of the mat. It is so pretty in real life with the shimmer of the Shimmerz paint, the pearly look of the Inklingz and the sparkle.

Next, I added some scalloped heart die cuts, some tiny flowers and some butterflies. I also added a strip of ribbon with a bow.

I added a variety of butterflies in various colors and sprinkled some sequins around them.

I finished off my card by adding a sentiment from the Simply Enjoy Stampz set.

Here is one last look at my finished card.

Tulip Card | Melinda Beltran

Happy Saturday Shimmerz friends,

Melinda here with you today and I am excited to share my latest card creation with you!
With spring time just around the corner and with all the cold, cold weather we have been having across the United States, I thought this would be a great reminder of what's to come! My finished card size is a top folding A2 size card.

I started by stamping my Tulip image from the Simply Enjoy Shimmerz Stampz set. I used some of the Sweet Cane Ink to stamp the image. I then proceeded to paint the tulips with some of the Bumbly Bee Shimmerz paint.

Next, I layered some of the Buddy's Favorite Color Shimmerz paint to give it some variegated. Where I was raised, they would have a large annual Tulip Festival and I would always be intrigued with these flowers that were so hearty, yet pretty and unique.

Next, I went to work on the leaves and used a combination of the Green Olive and So-Sappy Shimmerz Paints.

After finishing with the leaves, I set about to paint the background. I used the Colder Thank Ice Shimmerz paints for that soft, shimmery blue.

Once the blue was dry, I went ahead and added in some of the Golden Wheat Shimmerz paint. I wanted to warm up the background just a bit and give it some depth.

Once it was dry, I trimmed the panel down. I then splattered some water on to the piece and then dabbed up the spots. It pulled some of the paint up creating some water drop effects. I added a strip of plain red cardstock and splattered a little of my "reclaimed" water from my brush to give it some sparkly splatters. I also added a little border of twine for a little extra flair.

I stamped my sentiment and then trimmed it and added it to my card. I also scattered a few sequins for an extra touch.

Here is one last look at my completed card. It was such an enjoyable card to create. The process of painting is so relaxing and with the special shimmer of the paint, I don't have to add anything to it to get such an amazing look!

Sugar Plum and New Stampz | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz fans, it's Julee Tilman, here with my take on this month's color challenge. Each designer has selected a color from the product line to feature in a winter themed project. My chosen color is the beautiful Sugar Plum Shimmerz. I'm sharing two cards featuring this color and some of the fantastic new stampz sets that just released this week! You're going to want to go check them out right now. I'll wait! {grin}

My first card uses the new Filled to the Brim stampz. I painted the cup and saucer image with Sugar Plum and Buddy's Favorite Color Shimmerz, Palm Reader  and Elfin' Magic Vibez, and See Ya Latte' Spritz. I fussy cut the cup and acccented with a  white gel pen and a little crystal clear gloss.

Next I set to work on a background for the card. I stenciled Sugar Plum onto watercolor paper with the All Over Snowflakes Hot of the Press stencil. Once this was dry, I sponged some Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide ink over the background to give a winter glow.

For the circle behind the cup, I sponged a bit of Colder than Ice Shimmerz, then embossed the snowflake from the Filled to the Brim set with tumbled glass distress oxide ink and clear embossing powder. The sentiment is stamped in seedless preserves distress oxide on another circle die cut.  I embellished with a wooden snowflake I painted in Sugar Plum and then accented with a flatback pearl.  A seam binding bow sports a little duo of glittered jingle bells to finish things off.

My next card features the adorable new Snow Amazing stamp set. I first stamped the snowman image on watercolor paper and got to work painting him with Sugar Plum and Royal Purple shimmerz. I mixed a bit of the sugar plum to cold as ice shimmerz and then watered it down to do the shading on the snowman. I've never done purple shading on a snowman before, but it works! 😃 Next I fussy cut around him, leaving off the more difficult to cut branches and birdies to stamp on a different layer.

I then inked up the image just from the ornaments upward and stamped onto a piece of watercolor paper. I colored them with Shimmerz paints, then made a quick mask and taped off a section for a starry background. I then did a wash with Colder than Ice and when it had dried, I used a falling stars layering stencil to add Winter's Mist stars to the background. I then peeled up the tape and  added my fussy cut snowman over the top with collage medium. The branches are done in So Sappy Shimmerz and the carrot nose in Pumpkin Shimmerz.

The sentiment is stamped onto a vellum circle and I accented with a couple of chipboard snowflakes from the Scrapaholics Let it Snow set. I painted them with a coat of Colder than Ice and then accented each with a rhinestone. A seam binding bow across the bottom finishes things off.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! If you place an order in the Shimmerz store, remember to put my name, Julee Tilman, in the comments to recieve a free little gift!
