Here Comes the Sun - July Color Kitz with Natalie Dill

Happy July, friends! Natalie here with the July color kitz and they are straight fire!

The July Color Kitz include:

  • Frogget Me Not Vibez
  • Caribbean Sunset Spritz
  • Mandarin Mai Tai Coloringz
  • Green Olive Shimmerz
  • *NEW* There She Rose Again Shimmerz
  • 1 exclusive  "Here Comes the Suncut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 set of "So Flocking Excited for Summer" Dotz
  • 1 set of paper poppies.
For this layout, I used clear gesso on the entire sheet of white cardstock. I then cut a circle from the middle of the page and set it aside.

Find my entire process here: https://youtu.be/Vt7_dU5qqlY

I stamped a monstera leaf and palm fronds around the circle border in VersaMark ink and heat embossed the images in white.

I used the Froggert Me Not Vibez and the Green Olive Shimmerz all over the border. I put two layers to obtain the vibrancy seen here. I used a wet paper towel to clean excess paint off the embossed images.

I also sewed around the circle and the page border. I then adhered the border to a patterned striped background.

On the inner circle, I layered the warm colors from Mandarin Mai Tai, Caribbean Spritz to
There She Rose Again Shimmerz. I added a bit of water and swirled the color to all edges of the circle.

I cut the adorable exclusive cut file out of smooth white cardstock. I backed the cut file with a photo of a sunset from Dauphin Island, Alabama.

I popped the cut file off the photo with foam adhesive.

The paper poppies are so pretty! They have a black center, as real poppies do, but for my layout,  I had no other black on the page. So I covered the black middles with white gesso then added orange Nuvo drops on the center to match my page.

I also added a second set of dotz from My Main Squeeze because they matched this Kitz so well!

I clustered the Dotz with a few white palm fronds and the altered poppies and placed them pleasingly around the page.

I had so much fun creating this page with the July Color Kitz! I hope you'll run and grab yours soon. Mention my name, Natalie, for a free gift with your order.

Light Up My Life || Natalie Dill || May Color Kitz

Hey friends! Natalie here using the May 2021 color kitz & they are FABULOUS! Here's my layout:

The May 2021 Color Kitz includes:

  • Sugar Plum Shimmerz
  • *NEW* Rule of Plum Vibez
  • Daffodil Creameez
  • Lettuce Get Together Creameez
  • Meet Me @ Sunset Inklingz
  • 1 exclusive layered process "Blooming Ideazcut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 set of Dotz
  • 1 package of Baby Rosez
For my layout, I used only the cut file outline of the light bulb. I cut it out in an eggplant cardstock. I then stamped some florals and fruits in versamark and embossed them in white atop watercolor paper. I then colored the florals and fruits with all Color Kitz colors.

Find the full process video on my channel!

I also used the Daffodil Creamez and Sugar Plum Shimmerz to dye the 3d roses in the kit.

I then stuck down all the floral and fruits within the bulb and added in some die cut foliage and the dyed roses.

I used a the Daffodil Creameez, Sugar Plum Shimmerz and a dash of Rule of Plum Vibez to create a bit of watercolor splotches outside the bulb area.

I also used them for a few splatters around the photo and title area.

I tucked the Dotz from the Color Kitz around the layout in a visually please triangular shape.

I love using Creameez to splatter because if you do not roll them up, they often dry raised so added texture is a plus!

I had so much fun creating this layout!

Make sure you grab your own May Color Kitz before they're gone.
Mention my name in the remarks of your purchase and receive a free goodie!

xoxo Natalie

Oh Joy, I Got This Feelin' Inside My Bones | October Color Kitz | Lorimar Ortega

Hey everyone!

The October Color Kitz are up (they even sold out earlier, but have since been restocked). Have you picked up yours? They are amazing and so versatile. Yes, versatile even if they are very Halloween themed. That's exactly what I did for my layout; I deconstructed the elements from the October Color Kitz to tell the story of my youngest's "oh so joyous" phase. If you are interested in hearing about the story behind the pictures and why I deconstructed the kit to fit my story, click on the link to the process video at the end of this blog post. Also, since I didn't have any embellishments that would fit my story, I made my own by using some Vicki Boutin Stamps.

Here we go! I began by cutting the cutfile (part of the October Color Kitz) on lime green cardstock, and selected a green swiss dot Bazzill cardstock as my base. I purposely tilted the title and made marks with a pencil where my pictures were going to be. Then I began adding my colors unto the background by scraping it on with a pallet knife; without waiting for it to dry, I also added some Mother of Pearl Foilz. Afterwards, I splashed the same color on top just to get the different variations. These colors were Love Ocean #9, 4 Leaf Clover, and Plum Pudding.

As my base was drying, I began to work on my embellishments which were stamped stars that were haphazardly colored in with Marigold. Once my base and embellishments were dried, I fussy cut the stars out and began to stamp small stars and the phrase "Happy Moments" all over the background and in the same angle as my title. Added some crazy lines as a border around the base for an extra pop of black. Finally, I popped all the stars on craft foam and began to sprinkle them all over the layout.

And that's it! Thank you so much for joining me today! Remember, you can get some paint by typing my name "LORIMAR" in the comments section of your next Shimmerz Paints order. There are a couple more close-ups below, and a process video here.

Stay safe and Shimmerz On!

Wildflower | Stamping and Mixed Media | Lorimar Ortega

Hello everyone!

Lorimar here, sharing this multi-mixed media-filled layout, inspired by a sketch I saw somewhere online. How do you feel about stamping and mixed media? For me, it's one of those neglected techniques which I'm trying to embrace once more. There's a lot of mixed media layers for this one, so let's get to it!

Even though Kraft cardstock is one of those cardstock colors that I typically shy away from, I decided to use one as my base because it just felt right to do so. Instead of jumping to the mixed media, I began to play around with the placement of the picture and embellishments. I made a couple of marks with a pencil to guide to where I was going to be stamping my flowers and leaves. Took a quick picture of how I had arranged everything (to use as a guide) and began stamping, using archival ink to ensure that the color would stay clear even after I added my colors.

Then I began to add my colors using the packaging technique; I intentionally didn't fill in each of the stamped images because I wanted to keep the "messy, abstract" look. The flowers were mostly pink, the spaces in between the flowers were yellow, and the leaves were green. Here's the list of colors: Oh Say Can You Sea, Pink Moscato, Taupe of The Morning, Magenta, Pink Stilettos, Bubblegum Blast, Miner, Miner 49er, and Rollin' In The Hay. You can find there over at Shimmerz Paints.

Once my base was fully dry, I began to work in adding all the embellishments back in, popped my picture (a true 6x4) on craft foam for dimension, splattered some Miner, Miner 49er to try everything together, and added a bit of sparkle with some sequins from Spiegelmom Scraps. That's it! If you would like to see how it all came together, click here to watch the process video over on my personal channel.

Thank you so much for joining me today! There are some more close-ups down below. Remember, you can get some free paint by typing "LORIMAR" in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order.

Birthday Fun! | Adrienne Alvis

Hey, hey, Shimmerz Paints fans! I'm here today with a really FUN layout documenting my daughter's 8th birthday that I created using some Paste-eez, Vibez, and Coloringz!

I began the design for my layout with a piece of gray and white diagonal striped pattern paper and a stamp from my stash that spells out "FUN". I placed the photo of my daughter in the general area where I wanted it to be and stamped the "FUN" sentiment around my page in random places. I used some StazOn ink in black for the stamping because it dries quickly and doesn't run when I add color or watercolor ink to it.

I used a dry watercolor brush and dipped it in some Vibez, "Razzledazzle Berry" and Coloringz in "No Yoking" and "Mamma Sings the Blues" and lightly brushed the colors inside of the "FUN" stamp outlines.

Next, I added some textured dots or "sprinkles" all around my layout using a stencil and some Paste-eez smooth dimensional paste in "Baby Boy Blue". I love how the Paste-eez has a flat finish without any shimmer or shine to it.

Next, I added some letter stickers next to one of the stamped sentiments to create my title. I love how the colors mix with the pops of black and white around my page! To complete my design, I added several large fringed butterfly embellishments and called it done!

Using a stamp word phrase or sentiment and some Shimmerz Paints spray ink is a great way to add a little twist (and color) to your page or project! Thanks for joining me and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Stamping With Shimmerz | A tutorial With Irit

Hi! Irit here and I'm happy to share with you a new project today, showing a great stamping wtih Shimmerz technique! Here's my finished scrapbook layout-

I used the new Tim Holtz stamping platform and Dylusions stamps. I simply sprayed some shimmerz directly onto the stamp and stamped it. The look is like watercolors, the more water the messier.  Colors I used : Coloringz in Peachy Keen, Vibez in Snow Way Man and Jeni B Bleu, Spritz in Tuscan Sun & Caribbean Sunset.

Once dry I added my photo, papers and embellishments. I used an older Felicity Jane kit called Willow.

Make sure you watch the process video to see how simple the technique is!

Thanks for watching and check out the Shimmerz store for these goodies and more! Mention my name and get a freebie product!

Hello! - A Scrapbooking Tutorial with Irit Landgraf

Hi! Irit here with a new project using the fun new watercolors called Aqua Huez! Aqua Huez are flat watercolors (meaning no shimmer), and they are so much fun to play with! You can assemble your own palette, they come 10 in a box with a water brush. There are lots of great colors to choose from!
Here's my finished layout-

Sometimes it's hard to use a new product. Well I have a few ideas that can help you get started and get familiarized with your watercolors. I always recommend making swatches. Watercolors look totally different on paper than they do in the pot.

Start simple.
My daughter started this layout for me. She drew a bunch of circles on a piece of Canson drawing paper. This is such a great and simple way to try out colors, see how they look with little water or a lot of water and mix colors to create new shades. Once everything was dry I cut the circles out. The rest of the layout came together quite quickly, grouping the circles reminds me of balloons and I thought it looked really great on the white cardstock background.
On this layout I used Aqua Huez in Pot-O-Gold, Blue Me Away, Seeing Red, Hottie Pink, African Violet, Purplicious, Sea Weed and Gray Matter.

I love using stamps with watercolors. Here I used a set by Altenew Stamps called Wild Hibiscus. It has lots of fun images that work really well with Aqua Huez.

Here's a video tutorial with these techniques and more!

Thanks for visiting and check out the Shimmerz website for these and tons more fun products!

Lovely- Scrapbooking Mixed Media Tutorial With Irit

Hi! Irit here with a new project I'm very excited to share! For this layout I used a beautiful rainbow of Coloringz and some Dazzlerz. Here's the finished page-

I started this project with some Canson drawing paper and used Coloringz and the packaging technique to create some pretty watercolor-like stains.

Coloringz used-
No Yolking
Peachy Keen
Pretty in Pink
Pink Stilettos
Don't Citron Me
Oh Say Can You Sea
Well Blue Me Down
Heidi Ho Blue

I then used a Mama Elephant flower stamp (the set is called Lovely Mum) and white embossing powder to emboss the flower. I cut it out and created two rows of flowers.

To create a lovely subtle textured background I used Dazzlers in Spun Sugar and Coral Me Crazy. I loved how that looked, but not together with the flowers, so I covered most with white paint, which lightened the color but kept the texture. Next I added lots of splatters in Taupe Of The Morning (a gorgeous shimmery grey Vibez spray) to the background.

Finished touches were embellishments from Crate Paper and Maggie Holmes.

Here's a video that shows exactly how to create this layout, step be step-

Thanks for visiting and I hope you will try some of the techniques I used!
