December 2022 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here today sharing my last layout as a DT member... I wanted to say thank you to everyones support and I promise this won't be my last layout using Shimmerz products.  I just LOVE them way too much!  Here's my layout using the December 2022 Color Kitz.  Make sure to check out the process video at the end of this post.

I ended up cutting the holly berry cut file several times and colored all of the positive pieces using the colors in the kit.  Once the berries were all dry, I took some matte gel from my stash and applied it directly onto each one.  I then dipped each berry into the sequin mix to make them extra sparkly.  I LOVE how it turned out!

Once they were all dry, I popped all of the berries and leaves up on foam tape for extra dimension.  I glued down the actual cut files around the page and then adhered the berries and leaves right inside each one.

I just love how everything is so sparkly and I love how the colors turned out.  So sugary and fun!

To embellish, I used an older Christmas kit from Hip Kit Club and added extra leaves/florals in between each of the cut files.  This really made the half wreaths look even more full.

I matted my photo, added a title and arranged the Dotz from the kit in a few clusters.

Here's one last look at my layout:

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I've inspired you in some way!  Happy Holidays friends!

August 2022 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here today and I'm SO excited to share my new layout with y'all using the super gorgeous August 2022 Color Kitz.  As y'all might already know, Summer is my favorite season and this kit is screaming Summer.  Here's my page, don't forget to check out my process video at the end of this post:

This months kit comes with two cut filez!  We get a flamingo floatie and a regular lifesaver type floatie.  How cute!  Since we get a package of Sequinz in the kit as well, I just had to turn one of the cut filez into a sequin shaker.  But before we get into that, let's talk about my background.  Since my photo is of my pup in our pool, I had to create a fun water inspired background using the blues in the kit.  I decided to use the technique that I've done in the past where I take texture paste and push Bubblez into the paste for a fun texture.  I used the Blue Bubblez from my stash and to me, they totally look like bubbles in a pool.

I tried to apply the paste on in somewhat of a free flowing, wavy pattern to mimic our pool and I'm pretty pleased with how it turned out.  Super cute and adds so much interest to my page.  I thought it would be the perfect background for my floaties to sit on.  I then sprayed on both the Seas The Day and Love Ocean #9 Vibez all around the page.

I set aside my background to dry and got to work on my floatie cut filez.  I turned the lifesaver one into a shaker by gluing it to a large piece of acetate and then applying thin foam strips around the outside and inside perimeter.  This gives a space for my sequinz to sit.  So then I poured my sequinz into my shaker and closed it up with a piece of vellum.  I prefer closing my shakers with vellum so that you can still see my pretty mixed media background behind it.

I worked on the flamingo floatie next and started coloring it by adding the Pink Stilettos Coloringz and Bumbly Bee Shimmerz directly onto my glass mat.  I smooshed the pieces of my flamingo into the colors to create a watercolor look.  I repeated the same process with the extra lifesaver floaties that I ended up cutting out.

Once all of my pieces were dry, I backed my flamingo and started adhering everything down to my background.  I used the extra lifesaver floaties as layering pieces and layered them under my photo and under the shaker and flamingo.   I added my embellishment clusters next and made sure to include the Dotz from the kit into each one.

Here's another cluster up at the top right of my page:

I had so much fun creating this fun background as well as making the shaker and backing my cut file with even more color.  I love how bright and happy this page came out.

Thank you so much for stopping by today and I hope that I've inspired you in some way!  Have you given the bubblez on top of paste technique a try?  Or have you created a shaker in a cut file or even backed a cut file with mixed media?  I hope that you'll give one of those a try, it's so much fun!  Make sure to add my name in the notes/comments section of your next order to receive a free gift!  See you next month friends!

June 2022 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna here today sharing a new layout using the super amazing June 2022 Color Kitz.  This kit is so bright and beautiful and is so perfect to document so many Summer memories.  Here's my layout:

I always cut my cut file first and decided that I wanted to back it using pieces that I painted using the colors in the kit.  So while I was still in my Silhouette software, I offset the inner pieces so that they were the perfect size to back the cut file.  As soon as everything was finished cutting, I painted the flowers using the pinks (Gladiola and Moulin Rouge) and painted the leaves using the greens (Hermit the Frog and Don't Citron Me).  I did add some of the Lapis Dance Creameez to one of the flowers just to break up the pink a bit.

While I was painting each piece, I made sure to add some shading to give them all some interest.  Once they were finished drying, I backed the cut file and popped the entire piece on foam tape.

I thought I would create a fun background by using only the Lapis Dance Creameez and the Bubblez from the kit.  I spread out some texture paste on a piece of white cardstock and carefully poured the Bubblez right on top.  I pressed them into the paste to make sure they stuck.  I could have mixed the paste with the Bubblez to create something similar to the Liquitex Glass Bead gel but I would try this technique and I love how it turned out.  Once all of the Bubblez were applied, I added the Lapis Dance right on top, added some water and painted it across the page.

Here's another shot of the Bubblez.  I love all of that texture!

Next, I created my embellishment clusters using the Dotz from the kit as starters for each cluster.

I used the Sunkissed collection from Cocoa Vanilla to embellish my page.  It matches so nicely with my photo as well as the Color Kit.

Here's one last shot of this colorful layout:

May 2021 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!  Brianna Lepper here with you today and I'm super happy to share my newest layout using the gorgeous May 2021 Color Kitz!  Here's my layout:

For $27.95 + shipping, this is what you get in this months kit:
*NEW* Rule of Plum Vibez
Daffodil Creameez
Lettuce Get Together Creameez
Sugar Plum Shimmerz
Meet Me @ Sunset Inklingz
1 exclusive layered process "Blooming Ideazcut file created by Shimmerz Paints
1 set of Dotz
1 package of Baby Rosez

To start, I cut the exclusive cut file from the kit out on some textured white cardstock and then painted it using Sugar Plum, Rule of Plum and Lettuce Get Together.  This cut file is super intricate so I thought it would pop more if I painted it.  While it was drying, I started working on my background by painting both Daffodil and Meet Me @ Sunset onto a piece of thick white cardstock.

Next, I popped the entire cut file up on foam adhesive and adhered it down to my background.  The new Vicki Boutin Color Study collection matches perfectly with this kit so I used it to embellish my layout.

I ended up painting the Rosez using both the purples and yellows in the kit.  They turned out so pretty and shimmery!

I originally just wanted the yellows from the kit to be on my background, but I did end up adding some splatters with the purples.  I also pulled in a Coloringz in Night Moves from my stash to bring in some pops of black.

After adding in a few fussy cut flowers, my title and a subtitle, I layered in the Dotz from the kit and tangled thread under each one.

Here's another up close shot!

April 2021 Color Kitz | Brianna Lepper

Hey friends!!  Brianna Lepper back with you today sharing a new layout using the oh so amazing and beautiful April 2021 Color Kitz.  This month, we get two new exclusive sprays!!  For $26.95 + shipping, here's what you get in this months kit:

It's Mint to Be Shimmerz
*NEW* Sweet Baby Girl Shimmeringz
Pixie Dust Blingz
*NEW* So Blue-ti-ful Spritz
1 exclusive layered process "Some Bunny Loves Youcut file created by Shimmerz Paints
1 set of Dotz
1 package of *EXCLUSIVE* Spiegelmom Scraps Sequins "Baby Stella"

Here's my layout, make sure to check out my process video at the end of this post:

I had so much fun with the kit this month!   The colors are beautiful and the two new sprays that we get are stunning!  To start, I cut the exclusive cut file out on a piece of white textured cardstock using my Silhouette.  I also offset and cut the backing pieces since I planned on adding lots of color to them.  In doing this, it made backing the cut file so much easier in the end!  I love backing cut files with mixed media, have you given it a try?

Next, I got to work on my background.  I prepped a piece of thick white cardstock with gesso and painted all of the colors from the kit right onto it.  When I started painting on the Blingz Pixie Dust, I made sure to scoop a lot of the paint onto my brush to make sure I had TONS of shimmer and shine.

Once my painted backing pieces were finished drying, I went ahead and backed my cut file.  Then using the SpiegelMom sequins that we get in the kit, I created shakers in all of the "O's" in the cut file.  I love making shakers in a cut file, it's so fun and this sequin mix is so cute!!

Next, I popped up the entire cut file on some foam tape and adhered it down to my background.  Then I took the Dotz from the kit and added some tangled thread underneath each one.  I love the texture and interest that it gives!

I embellished the rest of my page using the new Garden Party collection by Maggie Holmes and Crate Paper.  Talk about the perfect match!!

Here's one more up close shot!
