Your Awesome / Miranda Webber

Hello Friends! It is Miranda here and I really love this layout!  I am doing another Football photo of my daughter's first season in the United States.  We are supposed to use colors that we never used before.  I have a few of them in this layout but if you don't know how to use a certain color or if you have that color that you bought, and it is just sitting in your stash.  This month is for you!

Each and every one of us gives you inspiration for those colors that just sit in your stash! Alright, back to the layout!

I started out doing a sun raise with two pastes and stencils to make the background with just more dimension.  While I love how this turned out just by doing that, I wanted to add color, I found four different colors to go around the sun raise!

Shimmerz colors that I chose worked wonderful for Echo Park,  Teen Spirit Collection.  The four colors are Vibez Sweet Heart, Vibez Snow Way Man, Vibez Princess, and Spritz Hint of Mint.  I Just love just adding that simple color to already wonderful background, just adds that little something more to it!

After letting everything dry, it is time for the embellishments to the layout along with paper layers. I wanted to keep the color feel going so I added all the same color or close to it while I was going around the layout.

I did end with the color I don't use that much and that is Shimmerz Shimmeringz Heavy Metal.  It ended the layout gorgeous!  I hope you enjoy this layout!!

Until Next Time!

Maples Leaves by Joyce

I found another use for those Tim Holtz tickets....a place in my autumn junk journal.
Well, you know me by now.... I just couldn't leave those tickets, as cute as they are, without embellishing them a little.  And, so I did with Shimmerz Paints.

I
I punched some maple leafs out of a Canson watercolor paper pack and applied Bleeding Heart, Heavy Metal (I like how some of the shimmery grey matter from the paint spreads out on the paper and puddles on the leaves) and a little bit of Olive Branch too, but just a little bit to each of the leaves. When they dried, I crumpled up each leaf to break down the paper fibers and add some wrinkles to them.  Then I folded the paper leaf down the middle, and with the two thumb nails, I pinched the leaves down the middle to form leaf veins.  Then I applied the same method over the rest of the leaf. Applied some dark ink pad around the outer edges of the leaves.  And finally, I dabbled on some Shimmerz Candlelight to highlight the peaks of the folds.  They look and feel like weathered leaves. And, they were so quick and easy to make too.

I can't wait to show you where these fall embellished tickets ended up.  Come back and visit me here on November 26th, and I'll share their new home with you.  And, you will see some more pretty little lovely leaves to share using different Shimmerz Paints products too.

Shabby Chic Summer Place Junk Journal by Joyce

Summer’s over but I’m not quite done with it yet. It’s me Joyce here today to share my shabby chic Summer Place Junk Journal.  It’s stuffed with old things I used to hold dear: a collage featuring an old ticket to a play I attended; stained Battenburg doily; Pansies I dried years ago and now have a home in my journal; a letter from Grandma which included a dollar to buy ice cream on the way home from the neighborhood pool; a post card from my favorite Pre-Raphaelite Artist; and some music sheet to, “ A Summer Place” by Percy Faith.  When I was a young child, my mom would play this song when she set up to oil paint or attend to chores. Then and today, it still resonates with me. I feel all is right in the world and it still brings a tear to my eye.

Here's a little slide show of the completed journal. Thanks for viewing with me.

All the chipboard, and linen fabric in the junk journal was treated with yummy, creamy Shimmerz Paints.

Let me tell you what I used.

Chipboard:
Acritonez-Three Sheets to the Wind
Inklingz – Pugnacious Purple, Precious Posey, and I Love you Onyxly
Shimmerz – Orchid-stra

Button:
Blingz- Gold Glimmer
Shimmer – Berry-licious

Coffee dyed paper and white linen fabric:   I combined the following two products to achieve a dusty lilac color.
Vibez- Princess
Shimmeringz-Heavy Metal

Thanks for letting me share with you.

Arty Tag by Joyce

A large tag created with Deep Blue Sea, Heavy Metal, and Texturez Tidy Widy.

What I like about the Texturez product is that you can obtain a least two different results using the same product.  Let me show you two of the results:

On the above photo, you can achieve a crackle effect by doing the following:

Apply the product, than place a piece of paper firmly over the product and carefully lift up the paper.  It lifts some of the textured bits within the product and leaves a cool crackle wrinkle pattern behind. Then mist with your favorite Shimmer Mist spray.

On the above photo, you can achieve a highly textured effect by doing the following:
Apply Texturez on top of the chipboard, and hit it with a heat gun and watch the product bubble up.  Some Deep Blue Sea and Heavy Metal was spritz over the chipboard in various places.

I hope I have inspired you to use Texturez in one of the two ways above!

Mixed Media Junk Journal

Today, I’m sharing the cover of my new junk journal.  This junk journal will hold memorabilia such as tickets from events, my Camp Fire Girl membership card (Does anyone here remember, “WoHeLo”?), some college id’s, childhood pen pals letters, report cards, thumbnail drawings, and other memorabilia.

To make this journal easy to store, I need to create without a lot of bulky flowers and other dimensional elements.  To do this, I had to use some mixed media skills.  Below are my work product methods:

Cover:  I applied thick threads and torn bit of lacy parts on thick watercolor paper with a matte medium.  I then lightly applied a mist of water to the paper before applying a mist of a combination of Shimmerz Paint products such as Shimmerz Mango, Peechy Keen, Snow, and some Inklingz  Coral Reef.  Once those applications dried, I let some Shimmerz  Heavy Metal and Taupe of the Morning flow into the corners to darken them up a little and add contrast.  Some peachy colors were also used on the tattered ribbon and little beads were attached.
The size of the junk journal cover is 6 x 8 inches.  I also made some beaded charms to be affixed to the journal spine when that portion is completed.

As I add more pages using Shimmerz Products, I’ll share them with you too.

Thanks for letting me share with you.

Captured

This photo I found on Pinterest reminded me of my young spirited niece.
She can't get enough knowledge and is spellbound when learning something she really enjoys.
I enjoyed pinking up some Blue Fern Studios gear and compositional chipboard pieces.
Simply gesso, and spray Shimmerz Paints on the compositional piece,
then apply a thick coating of your favorite gel medium,
let it dry a little bit,
then apply a heat gun and let the product bubble up.
When all is dry,
lightly go over the raised areas with a shimmering paint,
like Shimmerz Inklingz Spotlight White with your fingertips.

The photo above features a chipboard gear with Spritz Bed of Roses applied with a paint brush, and when paint is dry, lightly mark up the chipboard with a fine black marker.
The background in the above photo was created with gesso, Spritz Bed of Roses, Shimmerz Heavy Metal, Spritz Taupe of The World, and Spritz Cotton Candy.
I hope I have "captured" your attention to create something arty using Shimmerz Paints.
See you next time....

Wild Caught

I was attracted to the dark murky dusty colors with subtle hints of cream, and peachy/coral colors illuminated by the light.  Desperately wanting to create with this photo, I quickly took inventory of my Shimmerz Paints inventory, and “voila.”  I had all the colors I needed to create an art journal entry entitled, “Wild Caught.”

Here’s how I created a paper swimming hole for my dear mermaid who appears to be young, and fortunately for me inexperienced about such matters as getting caught by a hungry creative soul like myself.

Book Pages:

White gesso over portions of book pages.
Clear gesso over the white gesso so that the mist colors won’t be resisted by the white gesso.
Stamp, using water resist ink, and emboss over various areas of the paper.
Spray a light mist of water over the book pages to help absorb the following Shimmer Paints:
Shimmeringz – Heavy Metal
Vibez – Deep Blue Sea
Sptiz –Olive Branch

Paper Clay Starfish:  I hand cut this starfish out of paper clay to use as an embellishment and applied some Shimmerz Peachy Keen, Taupe of the Morning, and Deep Blue Sea.

Chipboard embellishments were posted in an earlier post of mine with all the details. You may find details here.

She’s such a pretty mermaid….I may have to set her free.

I hope I have inspired you to create something whimsical in your art using Shimmerz Paint Products.

22% Irish!

It’s all about the color Green today!

Hello Friends!  It’s me Joyce!

While investigating my roots and heritage, a DNA test revealed that I was 22%
Irish.
I had no idea!
Now I understand why Celtic music has always enchanted me…
it was my heritage tugging at my heart.

So, of course, I was going to create with this knowledge.  Some of my favorite elements on this art journal entry are the chipboard pieces, and the background on the typed written pages of the book.

Shimmerz Products Used:

Spritz: Olive Branch; and 4 Leaf Clover
Vibes: Rolling In The Hay
Inklingz: Brass Knuckles; and I Love you Onyxly (the cross chipboard includes this product)Shimmeringz: Heavy Metal

I hope I have inspired you to tell your story with some Shimmerz Paints products.
Listen for my Shimmez Siren call beckoning you to come back and visit me here on
March 29th.

Birthday Wishes

I have a very dear friend that celebrated her birthday. Because she's so special to me, I can't go out and get a card from the Hallmark store. It had to be from "Me". It's our birthday tradition to make cards for each other. So it was the perfect time to reach for Coloringz and Shimmeringz.

I made the flowers from circles and stamped the script. Then the fun began. I reached for Valentino and Ivy League Coloringz, Bronzed Bombshell and Heavy Metal Shimmeringz. Curled the petals as they dried and added a bit more bling and WaaaLaaa! A birthday card was born.
