2 Cute | Boy-themed layout with process video

Hello everyone!

Started this new year by making a boy themed layout with lots of colors and layers. It's a pretty simple layout so let's get started! For further help, link to process video is posted at the end of this blogpost.

Started off my background with white cardstock covered in clear gesso and began spraying in colors with the following mists: Bed of Roses (Spritz), Lil' Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Jeni B Blue (Vibez), In Deep (Coloringz), Princess (Vibez), Tuscan Sun (Spritz), Rollin' In The Hay (Vibez). I added these colors just by spraying them unto the background and rolling my paper towel roll over them. After doing this 3 times to ensure a bold colored background, I splattered black and white acrylic paint. Set it aside to dry.

While the background dried, I began to work on my paper layers. Used Shimelle's Field Trip collection patterned papers;began trimming them into various widths and lengths and finally distressed most of the edges. Once the background was dry, I layered all the pieces of patterned paper unto the background, adding an extra layer of paper with a teal polka-dot acetate sheet.

Added some stars (leftovers from 2 different cutfiles) which I previously colored with Hermit the Frog (Vibez), Lil' Yellow School Bus (Coloringz), Bed of Roses (Spritz), Hint of Mint (Spritz) and In Deep (Coloringz). Popped these up on craft foam and layered in some more ephemera and stickers from Field Trip. For more interest and color, I punched out some leaves and also layered them in. I added some vellum beneath the title thickers in order to make it pop even more.

Finished the layout off with splatters of Pixie Dust (Blingz) and some Nuvo Drops in dark green, and added my journaling beneath my title.

That's it! I hope I've inspired you to get creative with your Shimmerz colors and get your stories documented. Remember, you can get free paint in your next Shimmerz order by typing in my name in the comments section.

Season of Love | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman popping in again with another shimmery cardmaking creation.

I was in the mood for some emboss resist watercoloring, so started by embossing snowflakes on watercolor paper, then masking off the edges of the panel and started on my background. I did wet on wet, plopping Well Blue Me Down randomly onto the wet paper. I dried the layer, then wet the area again and plopped some Hint of Mint in the other areas. I continued doing this until I had the mottled snowy day kind of look I was going for.

Next I moved on to this sweet snowman. I embossed him in black on watercolor paper, then watercolored with the same two colors, adding in some Bronzed Bombshell, Freshly Squeezed, and Pink Moscato for the little details.

a snowman needs to shimmer, so I finished off with a light coating of Angel Wings on the snowman body.  Then I hand trimmed around the image and set aside. The sentiment is embossed in black on the panel, then I popped the snowman image up on dimensional foam tape and added some shabby edges for a rustic touch.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! As always, you can mention my name when you place an order in the Shimmerz Shop to receive a free paint.  Happy painting!

Your Awesome / Miranda Webber

Hello Friends! It is Miranda here and I really love this layout!  I am doing another Football photo of my daughter's first season in the United States.  We are supposed to use colors that we never used before.  I have a few of them in this layout but if you don't know how to use a certain color or if you have that color that you bought, and it is just sitting in your stash.  This month is for you!

Each and every one of us gives you inspiration for those colors that just sit in your stash! Alright, back to the layout!

I started out doing a sun raise with two pastes and stencils to make the background with just more dimension.  While I love how this turned out just by doing that, I wanted to add color, I found four different colors to go around the sun raise!

Shimmerz colors that I chose worked wonderful for Echo Park,  Teen Spirit Collection.  The four colors are Vibez Sweet Heart, Vibez Snow Way Man, Vibez Princess, and Spritz Hint of Mint.  I Just love just adding that simple color to already wonderful background, just adds that little something more to it!

After letting everything dry, it is time for the embellishments to the layout along with paper layers. I wanted to keep the color feel going so I added all the same color or close to it while I was going around the layout.

I did end with the color I don't use that much and that is Shimmerz Shimmeringz Heavy Metal.  It ended the layout gorgeous!  I hope you enjoy this layout!!

Until Next Time!

When Life Gives Lemons | Julee Tilman

Hi  Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman popping in today with a little shimmery creation.

This weekend I was at a local craft store and came across the sign below. I'm an avid coffee drinker and this totally made me giggle. I knew I just had to recreate it in card form for one of my coffee loving friends!

To start the card, I pulled out stamps from Sweet 'n Sassy Stamps and stamped the lemon on watercolor paper, then masked the lemon off and stamped it again. I then added a mask to the other lemon and created a background around the lemons by plopping on Hint of Mint Spritz, Well Blue Me Down Coloringz, and It's Mint to Be Shimmerz. When it had dried I splattered with more Well Blue Me Down and Bumbly Bee Shimmerz.

After I peeled off the masks, I painted the lemons using Limoncello and Bumbly Bee, then stamped a few of the leaves on a scrap piece of watercolor paper and colored with a mixture of Hint of Mint and Bumbly Bee. That's one of the things I love about Shimmerz, everything blends so well you can always create the perfect coordinating color! The leaves are fussy cut and layered over the lemons.

The when life gives you lemons sentiment is stamped in black and embossed with clear embossing powder to really make it stand out and then I started in on the customized portion of the sentiment.  I pulled out the Bitty Minnie Alpha and stamped the word trade and them, then chose the for from the Happpy Alpha set to make a little banner across my panel.

The coffee is one of the fabulous Dotz embellishments from the Cup O Love Dotz collection. Love these sweet little embellies for cardmaking! I accented it with a couple more stamped leaves, then set this aside to work on a little splatter background. I like a little variation in my splatters, so in addition to the Bumbly Bee and Limoncello Shimmerz, I also splattered on some Goldie Lox Shimmeringz. This color is so beautiful and added just the perfect amount of variety.

I finished with a black mat and a white card base. Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your day Shimmerz! 😁

Hello Hint of Mint

Hi Shimmerz friendz! It's Julee here, popping in to share another creation I made with the June Missy Whidden Color Kit. Have you picked up yours yet? The exclusive Hint of Mint color in this kit is all kinds of gorgeous, and not to be missed! Just sayin'! 😉

For this card, I paired that glorious Hint of Mint Spritz with the Chance of Rain Spritz, spraying, smooshing and splashing to create some deep ocean vibes. To give it even a bit more depth, I splattered on some It's Mint to Be Shimmerz. Holy shine, Batman!

Once my background was how I wanted it, I pulled out the new Hey Gillfriend stamp set from The Cat's Pajamas and colored up this sweet little mermaid with Copic markers. I added some Angel Wings Shimmerz for a bit of sparkle and then coated with some crystal lacquer for a glossy finish.

I imagined her sitting on a coral reef deep in the ocean, so stamped the coral images several times across the page, embossing with white puff embossing powder for some extra texture.  I tucked in a few little stamped and colored seashells from the stamp set and some shell confetti.

Next I moved on to the sentiment. I wanted to use one of the sweet Dotz in the kit, and decided on a simple hi. To frame it, I cut some circles from paper I had colored with Chance of Rain and Hint of Mint respectively, then layered them together, popping in a few little sea creatures to add to the whimsy.  I finished with a few pearl accents on the scalloped edges. There you have it. If you haven't picked up this kit yet, you better hurry. It's a definite keeper!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope your day Shimmerz!

Heart You | Julee Tilman

Hi Shimmerz friends! It's Julee Tilman, popping in to share a little card or two I cooked up with the fantastic June Missy Whidden Color Kit.

I {puffy heart} LOVE the colors in this kit! Especially the delectable new kit exclusive Hint of Mint color. Combined with Chance of Rain, they make the most stunning ocean effects. Here's a peek of a card I shared recently using these two colors for the ocean. I just smooshed them on the top of the card with a plastic baggy and then added a few splatters for depth. Instant ocean!

Okay, back to today's card. the kit comes with four fabulous colors, a set of Dotz, plus an exclusive Paige Evans Cut File.

I must confess I'm an old school crafter. I own a cutting machine, but it's never made it out of it's box in the three years I've had it. One of these days I'll be brave enough to unbox it, figure out where to put it, and figure out how to work it! 😀 I did fall in love with the sweet heart image for this month's cut file, though, so I resized it in my photo editing software and printed out on cardstock with alaser printer in a variety of sizes. I had a very pleasant afternoon painting all sorts of hearts in the kit colors, then fussy cutting to layer onto my card.

I smooshed a panel with the pinks and then a larger panel with the blues, then layered everything together, adding a bit of twill across the back.  I used one of the Dotz in the kit as my sentiment and tested out whether or not you could paint on them. Yes, you can! I painted the little heart with pink caviar shimmerz. It took a couple of coats to get it to stick solidly, but it worked and I love the pop of color it adds!  I finished off with some shabby edges and a regular card base.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! As always, if you're inspired to place an order in the Shimmerz Paints shop, put my name in the comments so they know who sent ya!
