Blue Rose | Ericka Strange

Hello Shimmerz Fanz, Ericka here with a watercolor card I made using Spritz and Inklingz.

I started out by spraying my background with Spritz Practice What You Preach. I let it dry and then light sprayed a little Mango Madness Spritz and set it aside to dry.

I stamped the Reverse Confetti Peony in Blueprint Sketch Distress Ink and then sprayed Sapphire Spritz on my palette to watercolor the flower. I used a little Corney Flower Blue Inklingz as highlights and shimmer to the flower.

I stamped the leaves in Pine Needle Distress Oxide and used Emerald City Inklingz to watercolor. Once all the images were dry, I used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

Before I adhered the images, I added a couple drops of the Sapphire Spritz to the background. I stamped the sentiment in Versafine black ink and added some light peach sequins to finish my card.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week!

Do What you Love with Process Video | Spring Forward Challenge | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki with you today with a new layout to share for the Shimmerz Spring Forward Challenge.
The challenge is to make a layout with NO PATTERNED PAPER!! I actually quite like this challenge as even though I have been trying to use more patterned paper recently, using none (or very little) is actually well within my comfort zone!

There is a process video for this layout that can be viewed at the end of the blog post.

For my layout, I decided to go with a rainbow theme. I have used six different Shimmerz Paints:

I have applied them to the background using the packaging technique and also a paintbrush. I also added splatters to each colour.

After completing my mixed media background, I added my photos and then began embellishing. I added the large rainbow together with a rainbow Dotz. I fussy cut some clouds and used those as embellishments all over the background too.

I finished with stickers, gold thread and some teeny tiny rainbows that I fussy cut from a journaling card and added to the clouds. Here's another look at the finished layout:

I hope you have enjoyed my layout today. There is a process video too which can be viewed below.

I hope you play along with the Spring Forward Challenge - I look forward to seeing what you create! You can simply share your creation on the Shimmerz Sharez Facebook Group or anywhere on social media using the hashtag #shimmerzspringchallenge.
Don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store, put my name into the comments to receive a little freebie.

Happy scrapping xxx

Say Hello to Fall with Shimmerz

Hey Shimmerz friends!

I have to admit that when it comes to making cards I am totally on the struggle bus . . . I am not sure what it is, but I find them so difficult to put together. In order to push myself creatively, I have been trying to use new techniques as well as create projects that are out of my comfort zone. Today, I'm sharing this fall-themed greeting card that I made with a mix of beautiful Shimmerz colors along with digital cut files and circle dies.

For the base, I used premade greeting cards from my local craft store. Next, I used two circle dies and cut patterned paper from the Carta Bella Fall Market collection. Each layer of patterened paper was adhered to the base using foam squares with a piece of white cardstock on top of those.

Now to the leaves . . .  these were cut on my Silhouette Cameo 3 using white cardstock. While the leaves were still on the mat - and before I had taken any paper off - I began spritzing them with various Shimmerz colors.

Here's a list of what I used.

Coloringz: My Bleeding Heart
Shimmeringz: Goldie Lox
Texturez: Gold Mine

After the paints had dried, I used a brush to apply Texturez Gold Mine to the center of each one. The effect is so amazing . . . the gold just seems to glow from the centers and the texture makes it really pop.

Next, I added a second leaf cut file to the top of each. I decided early on to focus on the solid background of each leaf for the colors while leaving the tops white. Once they were dried, I nestled them into each of the circle layers with foam squares and tied a ribbon on the bottom.

Last was the Hello sentiment using Thickers and wood dots from my stash.

Here's one last look at the completed card.

I'm thinking there may be more card making in my future!

Gather | Jen McMurtrey

Hello Shimmerz friends!

It's Jen today with a fall-themed layout documenting one of my daughter's sweetest friendships. This project uses several beautiful Shimmerz Paints with die-cut leaves and the Carta Bella Fall Market collection.

Let's take a look at what I used.

When I began this project, I cut several of the leaves using my Silhouette and the Layered Fall Leaves cut file from the Silhouette Store. While the leaves were still on the cutting mat, and before I had peeled away the excess paper, I began spraying the leaves with the various Shimmerz colors. Don't worry, this doesn't affect the stickiness of the mat and makes it much easier to keep everything in place.

To keep the colors from bleeding, I dried each one with my heat tool between coats of paint.

While the leaves were drying, I cut strips of patterned paper and machine stitched them to the woodgrain background paper.

Next, I adhered the leaves and my photo to the page using foam dots.

Die cuts, stickers, and chipboard were layered between the leaves for added dimension while the cork title was placed on the bottom cluster of leaves.

You'll even notice one of the exclusive Shimmerz Dotz embellishments tucked in with leaves.

Last was the journaling, which I typed on my manual typewriter. I love this layout and those leaves turned out better than I could've ever imagined.

Remember - you can pick up your Shimmerz Paints on the new, revamped website! You will  love it!!

  • 1 jar of In A Jam Creameez
Simply stunning!
If you're super quick, and really lucky there might be one or two of these Color Kitz still in stock - visit the shop HERE.

Here's what I created with them...

"Cherish"

Oh my! Cherish indeed!
There's no denying that the September Color Kitz are perfect for all your Fall theme projects!
Just stunning!

My pretty layout actually began as a quick wreath painting that I shared to the Shimmerz Paintz Sharez Facebook page a couple weeks ago - you might remember it?

Isn't this a pretty approach to testing your colors? So much more lovely than a color swatch!
And as I like to say, when in doubt wreath it out!
I used the gorgeous Vibez Palm Reader for the leaves, Creameez In A Jam for the rose, the all new exclusive Spritz Practice What You Peach for the smaller blooms, and an array of tiny dot flowers with Shimmerz Wisteria Lane.

With such a gorgeous wreath on my desk, I felt inspired to create another...
This time I painted straight onto my pretty pattern paper & used the beautiful Creameez In A Jam for the foliage. The blooms were painted in Shimmerz Wisteria Lane, and I added a few splatters for good measure too!

I fussy cut around the original wreath, and foam mounted it onto the newly painted one. This created both dimension & interest to the design and also added some depth to the combined wreaths as well.
Between the layered wreaths, I tucked in two of the Gingham Greatness Dotz - LOVE!!!!

I embellish my photo cluster with fussy cut florals from the Jen Hadfield, Along The Way collection and add a good sprinkle of the SpiegelMom Scraps Summer Morn sequins.

Such beauti-Fall details!!!
