Spring has Sprung with Samantha

Hi friends! I'm so excited to finally be back in the Shimmerz seat and sharing my newest layout with everyone.
Here in Idaho, it's been a WET WET Spring so far. I've been daydreaming of bright blossoms and sweet smelling trees for weeks. So if you can't force the rain to stop, you make your own Spring.

I started with a plain 12x12 watercolor sheet of cardstock. Just some good old Hobby Lobby brand paper. Because everyone needs a reason to go to Hobby Lobby, am I right? ;)
I got a little out of my comfort zone and used some plastic packaging I had sitting around. I did 3 sprays of each color onto the packaging:
* Sweet Heart Vibez
*Pink Stiletto Coloringz
*Jeni B Blue Vibez
*Oh Say Can U Sea Coloringz
*Chick-a-dee Spriz
*Mustard Seed Vibez
*Don't Citron Me Coloringz

After I got all my colors sprayed on, I took my paper to the plastic and did a stamp like motion to it. Really press the color in there to give it a bigger affect, then gently peel the plastic off. I'm an overly cautious scrapper, so I let my paper sit over night to get 100% naturally air dried.
I then finally used this adorable cut file from HandiPaper I've been hoarding for a couple of weeks. A perfect POP for Spring. I then took some floral ancient pieces from the Paige Evans Whimsical Collection and placed them where my heart desired.
The photo is of my little boy last Spring.

I'm almost giddy about how fun this page was. These colors are my go to's for all my bright projects. The sprays are POWERFUL. One spray and that color will pop out at midnight. I had fun sharing with you today. Keep it Shimmery!

Pretty as a Picture, a Yellow Layout with Karine

My dear crafty friends,

I'm up again today on the blog to share another layout. This one is called Pretty as a Picture. Here it is.

When I started my layout, I used crackled paint. When the paint was dry, I sprayed Don't Be Suede Coloringz over it and wiped it off to make the crack show. You can see the subtle result on the picture below.

I thought that was pretty, but I wanted to add more texture. I used my Gold Mine Texturez and scraped some off here and there with a palet knife.

I then made some drops with Tuscan Sun Spritz and a paint brush. I used a bit of water in some places to vary the effect.

When that was dry, I took again my Don't Be Suede Coloringz and created little drops here and there, to add contrast.

I did the same with Egg Noggin' Vibez and sprayed a little bit of water. I wanted a soft and subtle effect.

My chipboards are from 2Crafty Chipboard: Maggie's Swirls and Pretty as a Picture title piece.

My inspiration came from the gorgeous Mixed Media and Art challenge going on right now. Here is the board that inspired me. Of course, I was inspired by the color, but also from the peeled and crackled paint and the sketch, that I moved a bit more in the center.

Remember, a vintage layout by Karine

Dear crafty friends,

It's my turn today to share my second inspiration for this month. I created a vintage layout called «Remember». Here it is.

On the picture, my father's parents with seven of his older siblings.

After a coat of clear gesso, I used a stencil with Salt of the Earth Paste-Eez. I love the matte finish on this texture paste. I dried it with my heat tool.

To add colors, I used Glorious Day Vibez, Don't Be Suede Coloringz and See Ya Latte' Spritz. For each color, I proceed the same way: I dipped my paint brush in the ink and flickered some color here and there and then, dried it with a heat tool.

I used some Oh Fudge AcriTonez to paint my squared chipboards pieces (the Checkerboard Clumps and the Messy Square Frame from 2Crafty Chipboard).

Finally, I covered my title piece (the «Remember» word that comes in the Friendship Mini Word Pack from 2Crafty Chipboard) with white gesso and when it was dried, I painted it with Glorious Day Vibez.

In the frame by Astrid

Hello lovely Shimmerz friends, it's Astrid here today sharing a little project with you.
I have a friend who is going through a hard time, so this is a little gift for her.
These are the products I used:
Past- Eez: Tree Hugger
AcriTonez: Peas be Mine
Coloringz: Don't Be Suede
Schimmeringz: Concrete
Vibez: Don't Rain on My Parade
All available in the Store of course

I started with the frame. On a bit of mount board I dabbed some of the Paste_Eez with my finger to created texture. While still wet I dropped in some Ancient Silver embossing powder and some little artstones and then dried with my heat gun.

Next I went to work with my chosen sprays until it looked like this:

Sadly the photo does not show how the bright turquoise paste turns into a beautiful patina with the help of the sprays..

For the inside panel I took a piece of scrapbook paper, covered it with clear gesso and when that had dried some clear crackle glaze. Once the cracks had appeared I scraped on a thin layer of the Acritonez paint just here and there with a little palette knife and then added some of the same spray lightly around the edges, dabbing any excess with some kitchen roll.

I matted the central panel on some white card for contrast, adhered it to the background and that was pretty much it.

Thanks for your visit and  if you order something from the store, just mention my name in your order and you will get a free gift, - how cool is that?

Capture the Moment - A Green Layout with Karine

Hi,

I'm here to share my latest layout.
Capture the Moment

This layout started out as a challenge that two of my friend gave me. I told them that I wanted to do a green layout, so they gave me some green moss and some flower soft (I didn't think it existed anymore) to add to my layout. At first, I was hesitant, but I think the end result is pretty good, don't you think?

I used a favorite of mine to add the color to my background: Palm Reader Vibez.

You can see on the picture above some flower soft near the tags. I must say that I love the texture it gave to my background.

To add some contrast, I used Don't Be Suede Coloringz to add some drops here and there around my layout.

I love the end result.

So I hope that my layout inspires you to step out of your comfort zone and to go with the flow.

Have a nice day.

Merveilleux, a layout by Karine

Hi crafty friends,

I'm here today to share with you a layout I did with some of my Shimmerz Paints products.

Merveilleux

I started out with this beautiful paper. I primed it with clear gesso.

I wanted to use some embossing paste, but I didn't have the right color, so I created my own mix using some white texture paste and two spray colors: Don't Be Suede Coloringz and Glorious Day Vibez. I spread this home made paste through a checkered stencil and freely with a palet knife. I love the result.

To add more color to my layout, I used the Well Blue Me Down Coloringz. I love its bright color.

It was pretty, but I thought something was missing, so I used the Under My Skin Shimmerz to make some drops. It just tie everything together.

Some white paint drops, some stamping, some embellishing, a title, and it was good to go!

Don't forget to mention my blog when you order at Shimmerz:

Have a nice day.

Happiness, a soft layout with Karine

Hi,

I'm sharing today a layout I made a few weeks ago during a scrapbooking week-end get away with some friends. What a great week-end!

I made quite a few layouts and this is one of them.

I wanted a soft feel for this sweet picture of my kids.

After using clear gesso and modeling paste, I used mainly two colors to build my background: Keep Palm Coloringz and Olive Branch Spritz. I used my paintbrush to make drops. I used water to help the colors blend in some places.

Next, I used my Don't Be Suede Coloringz to add a bit of contrast. Once again, I used my paintbrush to make drops.

I hope you have a great day.

Nothing Beats a Father's Love, a layout with Karine

Hi there, Shimmerz fans,

I'm sharing today my first monthly creation. Here it is:

I used two colors for my background: Don't Be Suede and Well Blue Me Down Coloringz. I wanted flat yet vibrant colors for a masculine layout.

My title piece is the result of a few steps that didn't all went as planned. At first, I embossed it, but I didn't like the color. Next, I painted it, but the color was too warm, too caramel: it didn't fit with the rest of the layout. I decided to spray Don't Be Suede Coloringz on top of everything. I love the result: full of texture!

Have a nice day,
