Water colouring with Shimmerz Auqa Hues

I am SO excited to be sharing with you my card today that I got to play with the new Aqua Hues!  OH MY GOODNESS are these divine!  I think what I adore most is that you can 'Choose your hues' yes you can purchase them in a pack which comes with a complimentary water brush and you get to choose the colours that go in there!

I am excitingly waiting more of my Aqua Hues to arrive as we split my package, but I did get to play with one of the colours to make this card.  I teamed it up with some Inklingz and also the new Color stakz.
Shimmerz Products used:
Aqua Huez Blue Moon
Inklingz Blue Lagoon
Inklingz Miner Miner 49er
Inklingz Can't Elope
Inklingz A Rose by any other name
Color Stakz Pick Pocket Stakz

I deliberately wanted to leave some white spots to give a fun hand water coloured look.   I created an ombre effect with the background to the center panel using the Blue Moon Aqua Huez.  I first masked the words with some masking fluid, painted the background and then removed the masking ready to be coloured with the Miner Miner 49er Inklingz
I set about coloring the flowers and other elements in the paper stakz piece

Finished off with a die cut base, some bling and twine makes this card really pop in the end

Thanks so much for heading over to the blog today to check out my project!  I hope I've inspired you and shown you how lovely a little Shimmerz Paints can easily create amazing cards!

Till next time

Create Life Moments with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back with you all today to share another couple of projects using lots of gorgeous Shimmerz Paint Products. Don't forget that you can purchase direct from Shimmerz paint store by clicking here.

First up today I have a scrapbook layout that I have completed in a very Ocean Blue and Aqua Green Tone. Aren't these colours just divine? Of course the layout looked dull without the additional Shimmerz paint goodness.

To start this layout off, I have added some stencilling on the Prima Marketing background paper using a new release Prima stencil and some Shimmerz Barely Blue Dazzlerz paint. I have simply scraped the dazzlerz over the stencil using my palette knife and then quickly removed my stencil and cleaned it well. Once the stencil was clean, I had to act quick to ensure the Dazzlerz wasn't dry yet, so I could sprinkle some Prima Micro Beads over the top to give that stencilling even more fun texture.

When the Dazzlerz was dry on my background, I decided that I wanted to rip lots of paper chunks out of the background, so I decided to choose a paper that coordinated well with the layout, and then began to rip sections. Because I added the stencilling in a diamond shape rather than square, I have used the stencilling as a guide for my ripping and tearing. I just love this effect, it turned out really cool but I went a little bit overboard and ripped a little too much for my liking so I added some lace under the middle layer before adhering everything back together. I have to say I love the lace more anyway. Like I am always telling people, majority of my greatest ideas are usually total mistakes that I just roll with LOL.

Next up I have added lots of beautiful colour to the background using Shimmerz paints. Firstly I have covered the background with water before adding Shimmerz Creameez in Ride the Tide, Shimmerz Vibez in Jeni B Bleu, Shimmerz Coloringz in Say Can You Sea, Heidi Ho Blue & Keep Palm, plus a touch of Shimmerz Spritz in 4 Leaf Clover. Lots of gorgeous Shimmery goodness covering this background!

The next project that I have to share with you all is a 12x12 Art Journal Album cover. I have had this art journal for a while now and just never got around to playing in it but I really don't know why as it was handmade and is full of the most gorgeous Watercolor Paper! So I have pulled the album apart and started decorating the front cover initially.

Everytime I draw something on a cover, I am never happy with it so I decided to add a gorgeous Bloom Girl thanks to Jamie Dougherty's Bloom Girl Stencils. I added the stencilling in using some Bead Gel as I really wanted to add lots of texture and depth to the picture although I really do not recommend trying to use bead gel through such an intricate stencil, trust me LOL. When the Bead Gel was dry, I have covered the entire cover and stencilling with a very thin layer of Gesso to prime before adding some White Crackle Paint randomly all over the place.

I have coloured the Bloom girl in, when the crackle paint was dry, using some Prima Watercolor Pencils. I just adore using watercolor pencils for colouring and you can get such beautiful effects when using them. When I was happy with the watercolor face and hair, I have added some detail using black and white pens. Now that she was all coloured in, I have added some patterned paper and embellishments before adding the final details to everything.

The final step was to add lots of gorgeous Shimmery detail. Firstly, I wasn't really happy with my options of flower colours from my stash so I have sprayed all the flower clusters to coat, firstly with Shimmerz Spritz Treasured Hymn, and secondly with some Shimmerz Shimmeringz in Goldie Lox to give a nice shimmer of gold to go alongside the brown. Next up I have decorated the White letters that spelt Create. I have done this using Shimmerz Spritz in Bed of Roses & Treasured Hymn. I wasn't too happy with the white crackle background being so stark white, so I have added some Shimmerz Coloringz in Don't Be Suede using a paint brush just to the crackled white areas. I have added enough so that the colour soaked into the cracks and then I have rubbed off any excess brown that was a bit too dark, using a baby wipe. Finally I have added some little shimmery details here and there using Shimmerz Shimmeringz in Goldie Lox and Bronzed Bombshell.

Beautiful Golden Moments with Amy Prior

Hi Shimmerz fans! Amy Prior back with you all again today to share some more mixed media scrapbooking inspiration using gorgeous Shimmerz Paint Products. Don't forget that you can purchase your Shimmerz goodies direct from the manufacturer by visiting the Shimmerz retail shop here. Definately the best stock availability around.

First up today I have a gorgeous and fun bright layout to share with you all that is mounted onto some Kraft cardstock. How fun is Kraft cardstock when you add bright colors am I right? I just adore Kraft and usually go through phases of being a bit kraft-karazy so you have been warned LOL.

To create the background of this layout, I have first added some Shimmerz Texturez in Tidy Widy using a new Crafters Workshop Stencil called Altarpiece. When the Shimmerz Texturez paint was dried (thanks to my heat gun because I am super lazy and impatient), I have added some water over the top before adding various warm colored Shimmerz paints. I love the little Shimmerz paint pots they are such fun and gorgeous colors plus you get that amazing texture to boot. When the warm colored Shimmerz were dry (again using the heat tool), I have added some Turquoise Shimmerz as well. I have dried the warm colors before adding the Turquoise to avoid any muddy color mixing that occurs when mixing warm and cool colors together.

Next up I have added some dribbles of Shimmerz Creameez in various colors to bring that paint color out to the kraft cardstock more as I knew my photo and embellishments would cover the majority of the textured background. Next up I have added some circles of dribbled Black Crackle Paint around where my photo was going to be mounted and then followed by some embossing using the Crafters Workshop Stencil Coptic Expressions and an Embossing Dauber with Ultra High Gold Embossing Powder. I just love the half cooked effect you can get with Ultra High Embossing Powder and it is so very simple. When heating the embossing powder and watching it melt, quickly stop melting as soon as you see it all bubble. This prevents the melted powder from melting completely so it leaves this cool textured effect. Normal embossing powder works the same way but the effect is much more noticeable on Ultra High.

Next up today I have a pretty layout to share featuring myself and the gorgeous Jamie Dougherty in the picture. My background cardstock was white Bazzil Cardshoppe that I have simply added some White Gesso to through a Bloom Girl Stencil. Of course I had to use Jamie's stencils on a layout about her hehe.

When the background white gesso was dried, I have added lots of water sprayed all over my background before adding Shimmerz Creameez using a paint brush splodging here there and everywhere. I have just used a couple of colors of the Creameez and let them blend as they liked but I have also added some Spiced Cider Shimmerz Blingz for some added texture and a different tone of color.

The rest of this layout came together fairly easily. I have added some random stamping over the top of the Creameez using Archival Black Ink and some Kaisercraft Texture Stamps plus I have added some stickers from the collection of papers that I was using, around the edges of the paper to create a border of fab quotes. This paper collection also had lots of Ephemera so I have used one of the words for the title but I decided to add some Shimmerz Spiced Cider Blingz to the word to bring the shimmer to the forefront of the layout as well as the background.
