Palm Tree Paradise | Melissa Minor | August 2024 Color Kitz

Hi crafty friends! Melissa Minor here and I'm excited to be sharing another layout with you. The August Color Kitz is full of tropical themed papers and ephemera. I knew just the photos I wanted to document with this kit. My son Logan and his wife Chloe just returned from a trip to Hawaii. I have lots of photos so I'm making a double page layout today.

I started by choosing four of the patterned papers from the kit. I cut them down to 6x6 squares and glued them to white cardstock to make my base. I love how this brings in so much color to the layout. I repeated this step for page two. Next I started making some embellishments for the layout. I pulled some tropical florals and leaves stamps from my stash and stamped them using a waterproof dye ink. I painted the leaves using the Jilted Jade-Shimmerz. Next I painted the flowers using a combination of both Trippin' In the Tropics-Creameez and Tangy Tangerine-Coloringz. I also fussy cut some flowers from the patterned paper to complete my floral clusters.

What is a Hawaiian layout without a palm tree? The August Color Kitz comes with a palm tree SVG cutfile. I resized it in cricut design space and added an offset. Next I pulled some paints from my stash. I used Spruce It Up-Shimmerz and No Yoking-Coloringz to paint the top of the tree. For the tree trunk I used a natural sponge and brushed on Distress Oxide ink in the color Vintage Photo. After looking at it awhile I decided I wanted to darken the bark a little. I then used the same method with the sponge and added Distress Oxide ink in Ground Espresso. When using the sponge I drug the sponge across the image from left to right. I used some foam tape and layered one image over the other to give the tree some extra dimension. I'm so happy with the way this tree turned out. I think it's my favorite part of the layout.
Next I added the photos to both of my pages and started building my embellishment clusters. I used a combination of the stamped images and the pre-printed ephemera. I had a few die cut leaves I threw in as well. I also added 2 of the 3 dots that came in the kit.
I finished my layouts by adding pearls to the center of all the flowers. You can watch my full process video below. I had so much fun making these pages. This is the perfect kit to document tropical adventures.

Party Vibez || August 2020 Color Kitz || Natalie Dill

Hey friends! Natalie here with a layout using the August 2020 Color Kitz! I had so much fun saying goodbye to my summer scrapping with this amazing kit. I'll soon be ready to move on to fall, but how about a month more of tropical vibes? Find the full process video on my YT channel.

In the August 2020 color kitz, you will receive,

  • Pop Art Pink Vibez
  • Bamboo Leaf Spritz
  • Trippin' in The Tropics Creameez
  • *NEW EXCLUSIVE COLOR* Slow Ocean Shimmerz
  • Glorious Day Vibez
  • 1 exclusive Splish Splash Dolphin cut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 set of "Summer Splash" Dotz
  • 1 package of Melon Ball Sequins from "Spiegelmom Scraps"
Such a great deal!

For my layout, I began by creating some imperfect stripes with all of the kit colors.

For the Bamboo leaf and the Glorious Day, I applied two coats to make them more vibrant. and less translucent.

I also applied a line of sequins which match marvelously!

I then did a triangular white gesso portion  on a yellow background paper.  I applied plain water to the entire triangle, then applied a generous amount of Slow Ocean Shimmerz.  I then added additional water and moved the paper to allow the blue to cover the entire gessoed portion.
It achieves this gorgeous color wash. I then added splatter atop in the same color.

I then applied the torn, striped paper to the top of the yellow paper and layered my photos atop the Slow Ocean wash. It made for a lovely background for my title, "High Tide & Party Vibes."

A few tropical die cuts from KaiserCraft were the perfect accompaniment to the adorable, tropical dotz.

I had a lot of fun creating this beachy page!

Make sure to pop into the Shimmerz Shop and pick up your Color Kitz before they're gone!

Sweet Summer June Color Kitz || Natalie Dill

Hi friends! Natalie here with the June 2020 Color Kitz. These Kitz are so full of summer fun & a great value with tons of product!

For $29.95 you receive
  • Boogie Boardin' Blue Creameez
  • Sunset Strip Vibez
  • Sunkissed Inklingz
  • Pool Me Close Shimmerz
  • Pretty in Pink Coloringz
  • Orange Sherbet Shimmerz
  • 1 exclusive Sunkissed Flower cut file created by Shimmerz Paints
  • 1 wavy textured stencil
  • 1 set of "Summer Vibez" Dotz
  • 1 package of Minty Meadow Sequins from "Spiegelmom Scraps"
So much goodness!

For my layout, I decided to feature all the colors at once, a grid design would work best. I grabbed three photos of my son and sectioned my gessoed paper into 6 parts.

I used the awesome wave stencil from the kit to fill a couple of the squares. I then swirled the Boogie Boardin' Blue Creemez over the dried sand texture paste.

That Orange Sherbert Shimmerz is delicious! I mixed it with a tiny bit of  water on my stamping block to apply the color to the page. I like to use the stamping block to create a packaging technique when I need maximum control.

I added the color to each quadrant with the stamping block. I then added splatters oft he corresponding color to the color square.

For the monstera leaves, I gessoed my paper, cut them with my Cricut and used Don't Citron Me and Palm Reader to color them. These colors aren't included with this kit, but it's always good to have a stash for additional needs. In this case, I NEEDED monstera leaves!

I added black journaling under the title, so black splatters completed the page by adding a pop.

You can also watch a process video on my YouTube channel f you want to see how the full layout came together.

I placed all three of the Kit's Dotz on my layout, and I used a visual triangle to place them with the yellow sun at the top of the page. The Speigel Mom Scraps Minty Meadows sequins are the perfect ending touch to top the sparkle off your page!

Make sure to grab this HOT summer kit before it's sold out!
You can get yours in the Shimmerz Shop.
