Make your own Rainbows | Painting a Cut file with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki (@nikiclairecreates) and I have a new layout to share today. There is also a process video at the end of this blog post. Today I have used a cut file that was part of the April ColorKitz, that super cute rainbow, and cut it several times and then coloured it in using lots and lots of beautiful shades of Shimmerz! This cut file is also available to buy separately in the store.

First I made a light coloured background using Meet Me @ Sunset Inklingz and First Blush Inklingz. I then layered up my rainbows and coloured them with these:
Honeymoon Inklingz,

I painted the rainbows once I had positioned and stuck them onto my layout.

I then embellished my layout and added colourful strips down the edges of my layout using Paige Evans Bloom Street and a couple of Shimmerz Dotz. I also added beautiful Perspextives by Bramble Fox too.

Here's another look at the finished layout. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Thanks so much for joining me today. Don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz Store then enter my name in the comments to receive a freebie with your order.

Christmas Cuties with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! This is Niki back with a new layout to share. I'm still scrapping my Christmas photos and have created a wintery layout today. There is a process video for this layout at the bottom of this blog post.

I used a selection of Inklingz and Creameez to make the water colour background across the bottom of the layout. The colours I used are:

I used the packaging technique to add the colours and I also added lots of splatters!

I've also used a cut file by Paige Evans designed exclusively for Shimmerz Paints. It's the Snowflake Wreath that was in a past Kitz but it's now available on the website to purchase and download, yey! You can find it in the Cut Filez section. I cut it in glitter then cut apart the snowflakes and used them as embellishments.

I added my photo, title and embellishments across my mixed media section. I've used lots of cute tree embellishments, as well as gifts, houses, bows etc.

I finished off with lots of pretty sparkly sequins! Here's another look at the finished layout.

Thanks so much for joining me today. There's a process video for this layout that can be viewed below.

Don't forget that if you place an order via the Shimmerz website, put my name in the comments to recieve a freebie.

Finally Family with Process Video | Niki Rowland

Hey everyone, this is Niki and I have a new layout today. I wanted to achieve a soft and subtle look using cool tones of pink and blue.

I started off my creating my background. I trimmed down Marshmallow cardstock and mounted it on a piece of Pretty Little Studio Indian Summer paper. I could then apply my mixed media. I've used five colours of Inklingz:
Angel's Kiss
Pink a Boo
A Rose (by any other name)
Frosty Buns
The Holly and the Ivy

I used the packaging technique to create the very soft background. I started off with the very pale Angel's Kiss colour and then added areas of darker colours. The Frosty Buns Inklingz wasn't quite the right shade for the bits I was planning to use on this layout so I mixed in a small amount of The Holly & the Ivy to make it slightly more green. I added splatters too.

Once my background was done I then started to assemble my layout. I mounted my photo on a few paper layers, including vellum for a soft look. I positioned my photo and the word 'Family' and then added embellishments around those.

I added silver thread for some sparkle, and a Dotz by Shimmerz button that says Hi. I also fussy cut some houses from Jen Hadfield We are Family. I added stickers and a number of acrylic dots to finish off.

Thanks so much for joining me today, here's another look at the finished layout:
