A place for her photos...

Last week I had the chance to sit in on a cousin's first communion, and it was such a beautiful sight to see. I wanted to give her a little gift that she would be able to hold onto the memories of the day with, and that would also reflect beauty itself. I decided to alter the cover of a photo album, so that she could print out the photos from her special day and the captured moments with all the family members
that came to spend it with her.

I covered the album in gesso, and after it was dry, I spritzed it with Coloringz in Valentino, My Bleeding Heart, and Pink Stiletto. I also used Coloringz in No Yoking after those colors dried to add a bit more oomph! I then spritzed with those same colors, and then painted the Prima vine and flowers with Blingz in Flashee Fuschia, Shimmerz in Candlelight, and Pearlz in This Spuds 4 U. I also used that Pearlz around the edges of the album. Of course, I dripped paint in the Flashee Fuschia and Pearlz in Ballet Slipper around my cluster as well.... but I normally do that - don't I? :)

Here are some close-ups!

Creating Flower Lace - Video Tutorial

Hi everyone! It's Lucy, here to kick off an exciting week for Shimmerz and Petaloo!! We have teamed up to show you what a gorgeous combination the Color Me Crazy Petaloo flowers are when teamed up with Shimmerz!!

I've put together a video tutorial showing how to make a lacy effect that you can use on many projects! Hope you enjoy!

And some close-ups of my project - I used Shimmerz in Flashee Fushia, Magenta and Hottie Pink for my background and added a sublte shimmer to the Petaloo flowers with Tuscan Sun Spritz.

LOVE that SHIMMER!!!

We will have many more gorgeous projects to share with you this week from the Design Team and Jeni and Beth both have videos to share later in the week, so stay tuned! See you soon,

Lucy

Shimmerz and CPS

Shimmerz is sponsoring this week's sketch on CPS, I will admit to being a subscriber to the blog and oohing and aahing over the sketches each week but never having a chance to play. But I had a great reason to get it done this week. I also wanted to stick with a pink color scheme to fit right in with the Shimmerz "Show us your Pink" promotion. I am sorry they are a touch blurry, it was a crummy weather day and I had to hurry and mail it with her package so it would get there on time.

The image is stamped with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and then colored with Copics. I used Pink Shimmerz and Flashee Fushia Blingz to paint the present, hats and candle.

Hopefully you will get a chance to play this week, it is a great sketch and you can even use pink and upload it to the Shimmerz flicker group for your chance to win something pink from Shimmerz.

Hope you have a great Sunday!!

Pretty in Pink

Hi everyone! Today is my turn to share my PINK project with you all. They say, humor can be a way of getting across an important message! So, I hope this little hippo can remind someone to make a doctor's appointment or schedule a mammogram. I know I've been guilty of not checking my breasts as often as I should, or going to the doctor regularly. So thank you Shimmerz for supporting this cause and reminding ME to take care of myself.

Okay, so what's this little hippo wearing?........ Well, she totally rockin' it in her bra and tutu, of course. But her outfit wouldn't be complete without her Shimmerz!!! :)

The hippo was sprayed with two light coats of Plum Pudding Spritz first. Then I used a small brush to paint the three feathers on the front of her headdress with Flashee Fushia Blingz, as well as the outline of her necklace. I also painted the wood dowel, used for the flag with the blingz too.

Supplies:
Shimmerz Paints: (Plum Pudding Spritz and Flashee Fushia Blingz)
Patterned Paper: Fancy Pants and Collage Press
Die-cuts: Collage Press
Chipboard Frame (tutu): Creative Cuts & More
Bling flowers: Maya Road
Chipboard wings: Maya Road
Pearls: Kaiser Kraft
Letter Stickers: Making Memories
Tulle ribbon: Bazzill Basics
Other: Raw chipboard, small wood base and feather trim.
