A little Art Journal therapy.

Welcome to the Shimmerz Blog today.
I am sharing a journal page I did recently.
I use my art journal like a lot of people do, not just for playing with products and techniques, which it is PERFECT for, but also to journal the stuff going on in my life.  Sometimes good stuff, sometimes not-so-good stuff, either way its great to get it out and onto a page, getting your Art out at the same time.
Its a great technique to process stuff as well, and is better for you than chocolate!

We have just made it through a bout of the Flu, where we were all really sick.  It got pretty ordinary there for a while, and seemed to go on forever.  Thankfully we are all well again now, but I am still trying to get on top of house and school stuff after almost 4 weeks of being out of action.

I used loads of Shimmerz Paints.  Far too many to list.  But the Paint pots of Shimmerz featured heavily.  They can be put on thin and have a transparent quality, or can be added really thickly adding lots of texture and dimension.  I used Coloringz and Vibez in the many layers too, along with texture Paste, White Structure Acrylic Paint, and black and white India Ink.  I used The Crafters Workshop Stencils amongst the layers too.

I used the india ink with a copperplate nib to do the text and fine lines, and a thin brush for some of the brush script too.

I had fun anyway!!!  Now I want to start another!

Thanks for Stopping by the blog today.  Check out The Store to start your own collection of Shimmerz Paints, (or to add to your growing collection, if you are anything like me!!!)

Have a great week.

Strike a Pose and Cherish with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back again with you all today to share some more fantastic inspiration layouts featuring lots of Shimmerz Paint Products.

This first layout I have to share with you all is titled "Strike a Pose" and features the gorgeous new Shimmerz Inklingz in the colours Beets Me, Pink-a-Boo and Sheer Bliss. I have also used Shimmerz Dazzlerz in Licorice Stick to decorate the Chipboard Title and Cogs.

To create this background, I have added lots of water to my white card stock before adding splodges of Shimmerz Inklingz in the various shades.

I have then let the background dry completely before stamping some random Kaisercraft Texture Stamps over the top of the Inklingz using Archival Black ink.

The next layout I have to share with you all is titled "Cherish" and was created using lots of Shimmerz Paint products including Texturez in Crushed Coral, Dazzlerz in Gummy Berry Blue and Jellybean Green, Coloringz in No Yoking Yellow plus Shimmerz in Sunny.

To start this layout, I had a very pretty patterned paper that I wanted to use so I didn't want to add too much so just a subtle Texturez scraping was added using a scrap piece of card in a circular motion.

The Chipboard Circles that were to be added around the photo were sprayed with Coloringz in No Yoking Yellow plus I have then added random splatters of Shimmerz in Sunny Yellow to give a little extra bling to the circles and have a random shades of yellow effect.

For my chipboard title, I wanted to add some Turquoise/Teal colored Dazzlerz but of course no colour exists. To rectify this, I have simply mixed some Gummy Berry Green Dazzlerz with some Jellybean Green Dazzlerz until the desired colour was achieved. These paints mix beautifully so don't ever feel limited by the color range available!

Thats it from me today, I hope I have inspired you all to get out your stash of Shimmerz and have fun with them today! Don't forget you can head on over to the Shimmerz store here to purchase all of these amazing Shimmerz products now and if you add my name in the comments section, you will receive a bonus free gift.
Until next time, happy scrapping!

Live, Love & Sing

Hi Shimmerz fanz!!!  Today I am sharing a canvas I made for a friend of mine :)  She has lovely rainbow decorative pieces throughout her home and she is a singer!  I thought this would be perfect for her.

Here is the colour combination I used :

"Live, Love & Sing"

I created the background with a lot of texture.  Starting with Gesso, Calico strips, patterned paper strips, washi tape and stencilling.  I then misted my way down the page starting with the Jeni B Bleu Vibez.

Once the background had been dried I applied the music note stamp.

I then added the embellishments.  Layering flowers and words.

I then applied the Shimmerz products with a small paintbrush to the areas closest to the embellishments blending the colours once again as I went down the page.

If you pop by the STORE don't forget to mention my name upon checkout and you will receive a free product :)
Have a happy weekend!!

Sweet & Just Me Inspiration with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back again today to share a couple of layouts with you all featuring lots of gorgeous Shimmerz products. This first layout titled "Sweet" was created using Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise, Magenta & Sugar Plum plus I have also used Shimmerz Inklingz in Beets Me, Blue My Mind & Pugnacious Purple.

To create this effect on the background, I have sprayed lots of water over my Bazzil double thick cardstock and then applied my various shades of Shimmerz and Inklingz to get the desired Cameo style look of color.

I have then dribbled lots of little bits of the Shimmerz and Inklingz randomly around the paint splodges to give the effect of the paint being splattered onto the paper. I also accidently smudged a lot of the background so the dribbles perfectly covered up those booboos!

My next layout that I have to share with you all is titled "Just Me..." and was created using the gorgeous BoBunny Moment in Time collection alongside some Shimmerz Texturez paints in Gold Mine & Teal Me No Lies.

To create this crackled effect, I have added the Teal Me No Lies Texturez paint through a Prima Marketing Crackle Stencil first all over and allowd to dry.

When this was dry, I have flipped the stencil and added the Gold Mine Texturez to create a new layer of dimensional cracks. I just love double layering stencils and the Shimmerz Texturez are the perfect way to add more texture to any layer.

Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!

Shimmerz Shabby Mixed Media Altered Canvas

Hi Friends: :)

It's Song here today sharing a shabby chic mixed media canvas I created using the very yummy Shimmerz sprays and Inklingz.

I have some tree branches in my craft room and I decided to put them to use. I layered a thick coat of heavy matte gel medium on the canvas to "glue" those branches down. Although it does take a while for all the gel medium to dry, but it totally worth every second. Not only it will make sure the branches are really stuck to the canvas, but also creates those beautiful textures in the background.

The background colors are spritz in color Truffle and 4 Leaf Clover. I cut up some trims and layered the cut out on the branches. I colored the trims a little with some Inklingz Blue My Mind just to add a bit more interest and contrast. After the paint is dried, I added some mulberry flowers and two little Prima resin angel. The flowers are painted using Inklingz Giddy About Green, Beets me, and Tarnished Treasure. To make the little angel look aged, I used Inklingz Burnished Buckle on them. After the paint is dried, the paint will settle into all the details and grooves, adding the aged look.

Here is the tutorial:

Thank you so much for looking <3
Love,
Song :)

dream

Today I have a photo frame with a photo of our latest vacation to Skiathos, Greece.
Hubby and me are totally in love with Greece and all of it's islands.
The beautiful sceneries, the warm weather, the gorgeous beaches.......sigh!
This piece is now hanging on my wall so we can dream of our next trip, hopefully next year!

Actually found this frame in Greece. It was white already with blue windows.
The blue was a bit to dark so I gave them a coat of gesso first and then painted with Shimmerz, Ultra Marine to match the photo. Added the anchor because of all of our boat trips we did this year.

The anchor chipboard was first painted with Shimmerz, Coffee.
Once dry, I randomly painted with the new Inklingz metal, Tarnished Treasure.

Look at all those shimmer! Painted the flowers with Shimmerz, Buttercream and Vibez, Hot Fudge.

Gave the frame more texture with Texturez, Tidy Widy.

Even painted the sea stars. I found them a little bit too yellow
so they got two coats with Shimmerz, Buttercream.

For this photo frame I used the following Shimmerz paints:
Texturez: Tidy Widy
Shimmerz: Coffee
Shimmerz: Buttercream
Shimmerz: Ultra Marine
Vibez: Hot Fudge
Inklingz (metal): Tarnished Treasure

And don't forget: If you place an order, make sure you mention my name and you will get a FREE Shimmerz of your color choice! How great is that! :)

Enjoy your day!
