"Amaze" - a mixed media canvas with Astrid

Hello Shimmerz fans, thanks for dropping by. I am sharing a canvas with you today
This is one of those 5 x 7 canvas boards that I love turning into special cards with the help of a little stand on the back.
For the canvas itself, I used sprays only for a quick background.
From left to right: Vibez: Before Dawn, Coloringz: Chocolate Brownie, Spritz: Treasured Hymn, Vibez: Palm Reader and Spritz: Bamboo Leaf. All of them can of course be found in the Shimmerz Paint Store

I started by adhering some strips of paper and washi tape to my canvas and then went to work with the sprays, until I was happy with the result. Half way through I also added some bits of cheese cloth for a little more texture.
A little bit of background stamping added some further interest, I always think these kind of projects need some background stamping...

Time to create a focal point. I had wanted to add some leaves or something, but in the end landed up with a large flower, a stamp by Sheena Douglas.
The flower was coloured with the following paints:

Again from left to right: Inklingz : Meet me@Sunset, and Miner Miner and Shimmerz: Sunflower. The Inklings need to be activated with water, the Shimmerz is liquid already. Of course they are available in the Paint Store again.

A stamped sentiment was added still and a little easel stand fixed to the back and that was pretty much it.
Well, that's it for today, thanks for your visit like always. Don’t forget, if you mention my name in the "comments" section of your shopping cart when placing your Shimmerz order you will receive free paint. Shop Shimmerz HERE and connect with us on Facebook, too!

Canvas with Felicity

Hello. felicity here today.
My eldest son celebrated his 6th birthday yesterday. He had a super fun day at home, playing with all his new things he received.

A few weeks back I created a cute little canvas to sit on the dinning table which acted that day as the birthday table. He now has it placed on his bedside table!
I used lots of shimmerz to make it all sparkly.

shimmerz used: Inklingz blue my mind and giddy about green
shimmerz key lime
Dazzlerz: sour apple

Here's a little step by step on how I created the canvas.

First I gesso my canvas first, then apply some texture paste. I then spritz my canvas with water and then I put my inklingz on allowing the different tones to plenty and move around. I simply kept adding this I was happy with it.
I then add some of the shimmerz to areas to brighten it up and some dazzerlz to add a little more texture.

I then cut out my cupcake shape from a 6 x6 paper pad.
I added more texture with tissue paper to the bottom of the cupcake.
I used my finger in some shimmerz to run around the edge of the cupcake to add definition.
Then I just embellished the canvas till I was happy.
That super cute monkey flair came from a pretty little studio.

Hope this inspires you today!

Evolution of a Mixed Media Canvas

Hello and Happy Monday!

Tina here today with a different approach to a video tutorial.  This week, instead of sharing with you the specifics of how I created a project, I thought it would fun and interesting to share with you the evolution of a project, and how original ideas don't always work out.  But that's ok!  Let's take a peek!

Shimmerz Products Used:
Dazzelerz - Tutti Fruitti, Coral Me Crazy, Sea U in the Mornin
Coloringz - No Yoking, Oh Say Can U See, Pretty in Pink

As you can tell, my original concept and design "just wasn't working'...so I kept adding layers and starting over till I got a project that I was okay with.  And this is totally okay!

I hope you enjoyed my short video today!  Have a wonderful day!

As always, if you are inspired by my project and how I used Shimmerz Paints, place an order and mention my name in the 'Instructions to Merchant' section and you will receive FREE product!

Hi Crafters :)

Today I want to share with you guys an altered canvas I made for Shimmerz. The color theme I am going for is red, yellow and purple. I added some green and turquoise color as well just to break the warmness the canvas has.

I sprayed the background with No Yoking (coloringz), Princess (Vibez), and Grape Escape (Vibez) first. Then I cut out some sticky back fabric strips and layered them onto the canvas. I then sprayed the same colors onto the fabric strips.

Here is the start-to-finish video:

The cute wood door and spoon are from SaCrafters and the wing and gears are from Creative Embellishment. I colored each embellishment with different art medium to make them match the color theme, and give them more texture.

These two metal filigree flowers are inspired by Cynthialoowho on youtube. I colored the flower with Jilted Jade and Periwinkle (shimmerz). Like I mentioned before, I used some blue and turquoise color to break the super warm theme.

I had so much fun creating this canvas, hope you like it too :)))
