December 24, 2018 | Shimmerz Colors Overload Layout

Hello everyone!

Today's Christmas layout features lots and lots of gorgeous colors paired with an equally lovely cutfile and glitter gold acetate. I used a Vicki Boutin foundations paper as my base since I knew that my mixed media was going quite a lot. This sort of paper is a mix between a gessoed cardstock and a non-gesso background; it holds the color a bit (like a non-gessoed background), but gives up a few moments to blend or move colors around (like a gessoed cardstock). In all, it took me about 3 hours to make this layout, but most of it was spent creating the background (and allowing it to dry) and backing the cutfile.

Let's get started! I used the colors that were in the picture to inspire the color scheme for my layout; that called for lots of colors! For each of the colors that you see underneath the letters of the cutfile, I used the packaging technique to add the main color and then added a slightly different color by way of splatters. I would wait for each color section to completely dry before moving on to the next color in order to prevent getting muddled colors. Listed below are all the colors used divided up into which letter they are found under:

D - Moody Mauve; Gold-N-Roses

E - Honey Dew List; Hint of Mint
C - Hot Fudge; Penny 4 Your Thoughts
E - Marigold; Miner, Miner 49er
M - In Deep; Tickle Me Turquoise
B - Red Necking; Crimson Tide
E - Hi Ho Silver; Coal
R - Jolly Green Giant; Green Goddess

The cutfile was designed by Virginia Walker (COAPA Cutfiles) and, not wanting to cover up my base, I backed the letters with clear acetate with golden glittery accents. For the bow, I colored some scrap white cardstock with Pip Pip Cherry O and backed it with that. Did the same thing for the Holly (Hermit the Frog on some green cardstock; Goldie Lox on red cardstock) and candy cane (Goldie Lox on red cardstock; Misty Morning on white cardstock) and backed them once everything was dry. The entire cutfile is placed on craft foam for added dimension, and placed it to the left hand side of the base.

I matted my picture on white cardstock and added a few layers of Christmassy patterned paper, popped it up on craft foam and wedged it between the "C" and the "R". I lightly embellished so as not to take away from the picture, cutfile and base, and to not over crowd the overall layout. Next are some extra close-ups!

I hope I've inspired you to make a colorful layout such as this, and that you get your story documented. Remember, write my name down in the comments section of your next Shimmerz order to receive some free paint!

Here for You Always

Hello Shimmerz fanz! Ericka here today with a shimmery card using a bunch of fun Shimmerz products.

I love all these fun colors together and how pretty they are on this Butterfly Blossom from Reverse Confetti. I started by stamping the butterfly with Versfine ink and clear heat embossing it. Then I picked out a mixture of Shimmerz, Creameaz, and Inklingz that would look pretty together.

I painted my butterfly with the following:
Shimmerz - Tickle Me Turquoise, Royal Purple, Jilted Jade, Bumbly Bee, and Bubble Gum Blast
Creameaz - Lettuce Get Together and 1 Hot Mama
Inklingz - Precious Peony

While the butterfly dried, I worked on a background. I decided to take Vibez Princess and Sweet Heart and spray them on my craft mat and take some plastic and smoosh it on my watercolor paper. I also sprayed Shimmeringz Goldie Lox all over the base to give a light shimmer and then splattered a little Glorious Day for some golden yellow highlights,

Once my panel dried, I used a die cut on the base and popped up the middle with some foam tape. I also added foam tape to the butterfly and finished the card with some sequins. Check out the pretty shine of all of these fun Shimmerz Paints products.

Thanks for stopping by and for more information on how I created my card, feel free to stop by my blog Strangely Creative.

"Let it snow" layout with Anna

Hello Shimmerz fans. I am so excited because today is my first post for Shimmerz along with the process video.
We are in the middle of the winter on the northern hemisphere. It's cold, dark and depressing. The only bright thing during the winter is snow. World looks much better under the snowy blanket. I had few fun pictures from one of our winter walks and I wanted to scrap it.

As You can see I didn't use any patterned paper on this page. I created my own background using variety of Shimmerz products.

I also used a foiled snowflakes that I made by my own using Minc and Silhouette Cameo. I got my Minc for Christmas and I just love the effects You can achieve.

I was trying to kill my "Snow and cocoa" kit leftovers but in the end I didn't want to cover too much of my background.

You can create Your own background in different colors and use it for many other, not winter related projects.

Spring is in the air

Hi Everyone, it is Beck BT here and today I'm going all floral... why do you ask?  Because FINALLY Spring seems to have hit Melbourne!  Yes I'm so happy to say the weather is finally warming up a little even if we are having some extremes from one day to the next with the air conditioning in fine force one day to the heater being fired up the next!

So for my project today I created a sweet card using some Shimmerz Creameez in the main.

Shimmerz Products used-

Pocket and background:
Creameez - Firm Foundation
Creameez - Piggy Pink
Creameez - Trippin' in the Tropics

Flowers:
Creameez - Blue Lagoon
Creameez - Boogie Boardin Blue
Creameez - No One's Chrome
Shimmerz - Tickle Me Turquoise

For the pocket I first added the Creameez in layers to a canvas sheet and then die cut the pocket.  I love how this give a sweet material look to the pocket as though it was taken off a piece of clothing.

To create the sweet flowers I added layers of creameez again but this time to some cardstock.  I added the Inklingz as the last layer.  After drying off each layer at a time I die cut the flowers and then layered them finishing them with a metallic center.  Who needs to buy expensive flowers?  I love how I can make my own in the colors I desire so easily.

Adding some of the Piggy Pink Creameez to the background of the white cardstock base really softens the overall effect of the card.  Adding some splatters in the colours featured in the flowers really helps to tie them into the overall design of the card.

I hope you enjoyed my share today and found some inspiration.  I also hope the weather wherever in the world you are is being kind to your liking!

I just adore the glimmery effect of the Shimmerz pots.  these are full of so much glimmery goodness!  They really go a long way too, just give them a nice stir and then add them to your project.

For my project I added the two colors randomly to the background cardstock which was the perfect accompaniment to the embellishing features of this card.

Sweet & Just Me Inspiration with Amy Prior

Hi everyone! Amy Prior back again today to share a couple of layouts with you all featuring lots of gorgeous Shimmerz products. This first layout titled "Sweet" was created using Shimmerz in Tickle Me Turquoise, Magenta & Sugar Plum plus I have also used Shimmerz Inklingz in Beets Me, Blue My Mind & Pugnacious Purple.

To create this effect on the background, I have sprayed lots of water over my Bazzil double thick cardstock and then applied my various shades of Shimmerz and Inklingz to get the desired Cameo style look of color.

I have then dribbled lots of little bits of the Shimmerz and Inklingz randomly around the paint splodges to give the effect of the paint being splattered onto the paper. I also accidently smudged a lot of the background so the dribbles perfectly covered up those booboos!

My next layout that I have to share with you all is titled "Just Me..." and was created using the gorgeous BoBunny Moment in Time collection alongside some Shimmerz Texturez paints in Gold Mine & Teal Me No Lies.

To create this crackled effect, I have added the Teal Me No Lies Texturez paint through a Prima Marketing Crackle Stencil first all over and allowd to dry.

When this was dry, I have flipped the stencil and added the Gold Mine Texturez to create a new layer of dimensional cracks. I just love double layering stencils and the Shimmerz Texturez are the perfect way to add more texture to any layer.

Thanks so much for stopping by and until next time, happy scrapping!
