Creating a Mixed Media Background with Daisie Scraps

Hi everyone!  Today I am sharing how I like to create my own pattern paper using Shimmerz Paints.

Products Used:

First I used the black and gray mists to create my plaid background.  It was super simple to do.  I just dipped a paint brush directly into the bottle and used a ruler to paint on straight lines.  This was a super simple process!  Plaid is the easiest design to create because it's only lines.

Then I embellished my cut files.  I used the wreath cut file from the December Color Kitz and cut it on green cardstock.  I then used Shimmerz Celery and Inklingz Green Goddess to create depth in my wreath.  This really upgraded the cut file pieces and made my wreath really shine.

Next I used the pieces to create a wreath on my page.  I glued all the pieces down alternating the light and dark shades in the branches.  I embellished the wreath with some glitter stars and some red circles to represent ornaments.  I added a title and some ribbon to finish everything off!

Check out the process video for a more in depth look at my process!  Let me know if you have any questions about any of the techniques I used.  Don't forget to add my name ( Daisie) to the comments of your next purchase for a fun little freebie to be included with your order!
Thanks for visiting!  Have a crafty day!

Shimmery Hello | Ericka Strange

Hello everyone, Ericka here with a quick card I made using some vibrant Shimmerz Vibez Sprays.

I love using Vibez and combining colors to see what happens. For this card I sprayed several layers of Sweet Heart Vibez on some watercolor paper. I let the layer dry and repeated the steps with with Pink Moscato and Princess. Remember the more layers of spray, the darker the color.

Once my background was dry, I used Versamark ink and white heat embossed the background stamp. I also added another spritz of the Sweet Heart Vibez. I die cut the Hello from black card stock three times and layered them together. I wanted a little sparkle on the sentiment so used some Before Dawn Vibez and painted it on.

I also used my paintbrush to flick some Before Dawn on the card to add a little black. I finished the card off with some Ebony Nuvo drops.

Thanks for stopping by and check out my blog Strangely Creative for more information on the products I used. Have a wonderful day!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words | 12x12 layout featuring Jolly Green Giant and Rose Gold Red

Hello eveyone!
I've got my mind on Christmas, and Christmas on my mind! This joyous, festive season is fast approaching and we are all busy preparing for it. This layout is not the exception! To make it, I used traditional Christmas colors to document a non-Christmas memory.

This picture was taken earlier this month and I just had to document it ASAP! Used the colors within it as inspiration for the color scheme, and ended up using:

- Jolly Green Giant (Creameez) [From the November Color Kits]
- Honey Dew List (Creameez)
- Rose Gold Red (Vibez) [From the November Color Kits]

- Red Necking (Creameez)
- Before Dawn (Vibez)
- Miner, Miner 49er (Inklingz)

Chose a "texty" paper as my base and faded out 3 areas (1 main and 2 smaller clusters) with white acrylic paint. Once dry, I sued a baby bottle cap (LOL!) and Before Dawn to make 4 circles, and added some splatters with it. Then I used the packaging technique to add in Jolly Green Giant and Rose Gold Red, and then splattered them accordingly. Set my base aside and began working on my layers.

Trimmed my picture down to roughly 3x4, left a white border around it, and matted it with some red cardstock. Then began layering in patterned paper in blacks, reds and greens. For texture, I also layered in a small glassine bag. Added a strip of gold glitter cardstock in order to tie it in with the other gold elements that I would be adding to finish off the layout.

For embellishments, I clustered 2 different flowers from Vicki Boutin's Color Kaleidoscope and Wild Flower and Honey collections. Colored the leaves and centers of the flowers with Rose Gold Red, Jolly Green Giant, and Honey Dew List, and splattered Miner, Miner 49er on them.

Finally, once everything was dry, I built my layout. Added extra dimension to my main cluster by placing the paper layers on some 3D craft foam. Balanced out the layout by adding some torn scraps of patterned paper to the other 2 cluster areas. Layered in the flowers and, to wrap it all up, placed some tiny word stickers in black, glued some gold enamels dots, and splattered Miner, Miner 49er all around the finished layout.

Here are some extra close-ups!

Hope your inspired to use traditional Christmas color in a non-Christmas layout, and really challenge yourself.

Shimmerz Transformation | Ericka Strange

Happy Saturday Shimmerz Fanz! I hope you are getting some crafting time in this weekend! Ericka here with an Autumn butterfly card using a fun variety of Shimmerz and Vibez.

Since it is technically fall (we're still waiting here in Houston Texas lol), I decided to try some more Autumn colors that I normally don't use.

I started by stamping this Transformation set from The Ton on watercolor paper and gold embossing it. Then I used the folloring products to paint my butterfly and flowers (click on the name for more details):
I watered down the Before Dawn Vibez spray to give the butterfly a shadow after painting the background with Steely Blue Eyes.

I love how well the Marigold and Orange Sherbet blend together. Here is a better picture showing off the gorgeous shine of these products.

Shimmerz Butterfly | Ericka Strange

Hello Shimmerz fans! I hope you are having a wonderful week and are looking forward to the weekend. Ericka here today with a spring card using a mixture of beautiful Vibez and Spritz sprays.

I started out with watercolor paper and used the new cut file designed by Paige Evans (part of the NEW Missy Whidden Kit from Shimmerz Paints) as a stencil and sprayed it with the bright Chick-a-dee Spritz. I let that layer dry and then added a layer of Mango Tango and then Mustard Seed Vibez. The Spritz layer gave it a bold color without shine but when layered with the shine of the other two Vibez it really is pretty.

While that was drying I took another piece of watercolor paper and sprayed it with the Chick-a-dee and spritzed it with water to get a lighter look. Then I added Jeni B Bleu Vibez for a pretty turquoise color for my die cut butterfly. I used a little Before Dawn Vibez for the body of the butterfly.

I finished the card off with a sentiment from Reverse Confetti called The Most Beauty and added some sequins. I love how versatile cut files are and that you can resize them as well as use them as a stencil. I can't wait to make another card with my leftover piece, the colors are so pretty!

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend! If you want to know more about the products I used feel free to stop over at my blog Strangely Creative.

Live your dream with passion, mixed media project with Astrid

Hello Shimmerz friends, - today I have a a project to share with you using a Tim Holtz etc tag as my substrate
.
These tags are huge, made from thick chipboard like stuff and I had great fun playing with the following Shimmerz products:
Spritz Treasured Hymn
Coloringz: Chocolate Brownie
Vibez: Before Dawn.
Below a few process photos:
Cover the tag with gesso and when dry some crackle paste. Add base colour with brown toned acrylic paint, then play around with the sprays until you are happy with the result. Finally add some stencilling and splatters using gesso.

Next create focal embellishment, - a butterfly. To create this effect I stamped a Tim Holtz stamped into triple embossed bronze embossing powder using black archival ink, Once dry I then deepened the colour using by sprays,
Next I layered everything up using a background panel, made from scrapbook paper, covered with a thin layer of gesso and then enhanced with the Treasured Hymn spray. I added a pen nib to the centre of the butterfly, again first given a light coat of acrylic and then deepened the colour with the sprays.
A stamped sentiment and and metal crown embellishment finished it all off.

Well, that's it for today. Don't forget our incentive programme, you can find the details below:

Thanks for your visit like always and happy creating!

Pretty as a Picture, a Dark Monochromatic Layout with Karine

Dear crafty souls,

It's Karine here today to share with you another layout I made with the most amazing mixed media products ever!

I don't know if I was in a bad mood, but I ended up creating a pretty dark layout. Lets take a look at it.

Pretty as a Picture

I started out my layout by adding some white gesso on the background in a roughly diamond shape.  I then added some Lava Flow Paste-Eez through a stencil. I love the dark lines it created.

Over the white gesso, I splattered some No One's Chrome Inklingz, some Before Dawn Vibez and some Hi Ho Silver Blingz.

I chose a frame (the Frame Maria's from 2Crafty Chipboard) and I painted it with Gritty Graphite Texturez. I love the uneven look I got with the Texturez.

Over my frame, I laid some ivy chipboards, which I painted with Shimmerz Tar, Tar AcriTonez. I love the black against the background and the Gritty Graphite chipboard.

I also painted my title piece with Shimmerz Tar, Tar AcriTonez, but I dry brushed some No One's Chrome Inklingz over the edges to make it stand out a bit more.

Remember, a bold layout with Karine

Hi,

I'm here today to share my first layout for Shimmerz Paints this month. Here it is.

As usual, I started out by priming my 7 Dots Studio paper (Lost Letter, from the Cold Country collection) with clear gesso.

I used two colors for this one: Rolling in the Hay and Before Dawn Vibez. I can't get enough of the two tone greenish-yellow I get using the Rolling in the Hay Vibez. Look at the color variation on the picture above! It's crazy!

I sprayed the Rolling in the Hay Vibez onto white flowers, to make them match my layout. I used my Before Dawn Vibez to color my lace.

Those colors are gorgeous together.

I hope you like it. Don't forget to mention my blog if you order to get your free paint.
