Re-Introducing Spritz

All of the glitz, glamour and sparkle of Shimmerz with the added fun & flexibility of a spray mist bottle -- it's Spritz! While Spritz may seem like a new product to most of our blog readers, it's not. It's an improved version of Shimmering Spritz which was released back in 1999 and was the original shimmering sprayable coloring medium. Now 10 years after its debut, Shimmerz Spritz is back and better than ever!

You've seen some amazing sneak peeks over the last few days from our talented Design Team members. Jennifer Love created this masterpiece:

Here is what Jennifer shared on her blog:
"This is the sparkliest stuff I've ever encountered. It is PHENOMENALLY sparkley. I wish y'all could see in person just how sparkley this card is. ... I certainly had no problem getting a nice even application on my acetate sheet using the spritz! I just layed it in a cardboard box, stood about 12-14 inches away and misted it until I got the desired effect. And look! No pooling either like you'd think you'd have when using a water based paint on a piece of plastic paper."

And the closeup:

A few important details about Spritz:
- At this time we're releasing TWENTY fabulous colors! Brilliant colors include a rich brown called Truffle and a sweet pink called Cotton Candy. See them all here at the Shimmerz Shop!
- They're being offered in generous two-ounce spray bottles.
- They're a bargain at only $4.99!

Although they're in a spray bottle, Spritz has many of the same attributes of Shimmerz that we love: They're pre-mixed liquid, water-based paints. They're made in the USA. They're non-toxic. They dry rather quickly on porus paper as well as non-porus surfaces like acetate, plastic, glass, and glossy papers. And they're must-haves!

We drew three lucky winners to each win a set of three bottles of Spritz, specially selected by Spritz creator Stacey herself.

It's time to CELEBRATE!

First, a little Thanksgiving bird for everyone celebrating Thanksgiving here in the states and those serving and/or living abroad. For this card, since the focal image is stamped on patterned paper, I decided to use white cardstock the for the scalloped layer. I painted the scallops and the outer 1/4" of the oval with Angel Wings Shimmerz. (No need to cover the whole oval since only the little scallops are showing.) That sparkly layer REALLY pops!

Supplies:
Stamp: Bird (Unity)
Paper: Classic Crest Solar White 80# Cover Smooth (Neenah); Euphoria PP (BasicGrey)
Paint/Ink: Angel Wings Shimmerz (Shimmering Products); Lilac Posies Memento Dye Ink (Tsukineko)
Accessories: Petite Oval Nestabilities (Spellbinders)

And on to the big news: We're also celebrating Grand Opening of our online shopping cart and the shoptacular Black Friday weekend! Of course, we're celebrating with a sale and a great prize. The sale prices will be valid from now until early Monday evening. We're expecting a lot of orders and they will be filled in the order received. Don't forget when ordering that Shimmerz make great gifts for Secret Sisters/Santas and your favorite crafting friends.

Parties are much better with a crowd, and we need you to help us spread the word. Here's how to win: Let your friends know about our sale... don't worry there's plenty of Shimmerz to go around! Link to this post on your blog and then leave us a comment on this post with a link to your blog post in it. If you don't have a blog, don't worry. Just e-mail news of our grand opening and sale to all your crafting buddies and let us know you did that in your comment.

There will be a drawing for five jars (winner's choice!) of Shimmerz/Blingz. Pretty sweet blog candy! Comments will be accepted through 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on Monday, December 1st. Then check back on Tuesday morning to see if you won!

Happiest of holidays to everyone and Happy Shopping!

Introducing Blingz

Deliciously shimmery with even more sparkle... meet BLINGZ! As if it were possible to make something even more sparkly than Shimmerz, right?

Here are our five Blingz colors: December Sky, Gold Glimmer, Pink Poinsettia, Spiced Cider, and Wintergreen. They're gorgeous, non-traditional colors for the holidays. This release is planned as limited edition, so jump on the opportunity purchase them while they're available. Who knows? If everyone falls in love, they may be here to stay!

Here's a closeup of the Spiced Cider color so you can see the extra sparkles in it. It's such a pretty bronzy-copper. *swoon* They're slightly more chunky, which adds to the shine and glitz. You'll love them!

While they do have more glitz and glittery particles inside, Blingz have many of the same attributes of Shimmerz that we love: They're pre-mixed liquid, water-based paints. They're made in the USA. They're non-toxic. They dry rather quickly on porus paper as well as non-porus surfaces like acetate, plastic, glass, and glossy papers. And they're must-haves!

We've had so much fun reading the posts for our Big Blog Candy that we're giving away in celebration of this release. Our lucky winner (who'll be getting the ENTIRE SET OF BLINGZ!) is:

Those flowers look terrific! I can just imagine how great fall colors would look. My parents had a cabin on medium sized lake and I loved to photograph the fall colors with the reflections on the water. I used those pictures on note cards.

Because of the great positive response to our contest, Stacey decided to go ahead and select another winner. Congratulations to:

This product is fabulous! Love all the colors. Speaking of colors, growing up in the Northeast my favorite time of the year is the fall. I love driving around & seeing the trees in all thier color splendor! Plus I love sweaters in those gorgeous fall colors!

Trees and sweaters are Stacey's favorite things about fall, too. She loves to go for a drive in the mountains to see all the colors of the changing leaves. And she seriously loves breaking out all her favorite sweaters.

So, Gracie and Fred's Grandma and rickydog1, please e-mail us at shimmerzblog@cableone.net to claim your prize. You've each won the three wonderful new colors released today!

Expanding Our Lexicons & Blog Candy

It's time to coin a new term.
Shimmzpiration

Pronunciation: \shim-spə-ˈrā-shən\
Function: noun
Date: August 2008
Definition: the quality or state of being inspired by the ingenious and/or incredibly creative use of Shimmerz paints.
Other usage: Shimmzpirational (adverb) Shimmzpired (adjective)
That's right... Niki Estes' absolutely inspired use of Shimmerz to paint Prima flowers is ingenious and therefore Shimmzpired! You need to take a look at this awesome card. That flower's glitz takes that card to a whole new place, doesn't it?

I decided to see what would happen with printed Primas. Would the printed paper flowers be colorfast? I tried several and had beautiful results. The flower on the left was painted with Angel Wings Shimmerz and using a regular paintbrush.

In addition to the gorgeous look, the flower stayed pliable and kept its paper qualities. It wasn't any thicker or stiffer. It just looked like it had been dusted with the finest little bits of diamonds. I really liked how the Angel Wings was nice and sheer, allowing for the detail of the flower's pattern to shine through. This example is of cream flowers with chocolate brown patterns.

Hope this Shimmzpires you to paint many more fun things!!

And now for the blog candy! We're getting ready to launch three new LIMITED EDITION COLORS for the fall. They'll debut on Friday morning with some amazing projects from our designers as well as a special guest designer that'll be joining us. To celebrate, we want to give away a set of our new colors to a lucky commenter on today's post via a random drawing. We want to hear about your favorite memories or thoughts of fall colors. (Mine is of the amazing translucent gold color of Aspen leaves. So beautiful!) One comment per person accepted through 11:59 p.m. Mountain Time on August 14th. Then check back on Friday morning to see the amazing new colors and see if you won!

Shimmzpiration to all!
