Dreamy Journal Page with Astrid

Hello Shimmerz friends, today I would like to share a journal spread with you, using soft water colour effects.
I have a few step by step photos to take you through my process, but first of all, these are the products I used:
When I started, I really did not know where this was going, I just knew I wanted to play in my altered book journal. I picked a few colours in blue and soft green tones, as I wanted to create something dreamy and soft. I added a thin coat of gesso all over the double page, added a circle mask created with a circular die and then gave it a few spritzes with my chosen colours and dabbed off some excess with a scrunched up bit of kitchen roll for some texture effects.
This is what it looked like after I removed the mask, - bingo, a moon landscape with some trees perhaps?
I deepened the colour in places with the Jilted Jade Shimmerz paint and added some "snowy" texture to the bottom half with my Texturez using my fingers.
Here you can see how the trees started to appear pretty much by themselves, all I needed to do was to dig out some tree stamps (Tim Holtz) and stamp them here and there in different colour inks to bring them out a bit more.
The white trees in the foreground were stamped using the Spun Sugar Dazzlers. You can stamp really well with this paint, specially on stamps that are not too detailed.
Here is the other side, before and after stamping:
I was not too happy with the dark blob at the bottom, so covered that with some more white trees.
I love the depth you can create by just stamping in different colours. The word Dream was done with the help of a stencil. I masked the whole area around it with sticky notes and then spritzt with the Night Moves spray. As you can see, it leaked a bit, so I dabbed it dry and then stencilled over it again with black archival ink.
Well, that's it for today. I had great fun playing in my journal, just the best way to relax during this busy and stressful time of year and Shimmerz paints and sprays are just perfect for journaling!

Thanks for your visit today like always, your comments are very much appreciated!
Before you leave, don't forget, you can order Shimmerz products directly from the Shimmerz Paints Store. If you do,  mention my name (Astrid Maclean) in the «Instruction to Merchant/seller» part of your order form (just below your name and address). So amazing to see the whole spread covered with this moon landscape, of beauty. Love how the spritzed paint created trees for you, and how you made them appear with the stamped ones, too. A wonderful snowy and dreamy landscape, dear Astrid.

Lovely pages, as always, Astrid. I love how your trees magically appeared, but adding the stamped images brought them out even better. TFS your process.
